Chapter 5: Finals

Two months later

The two Super Saiyans were finished with all there tests and were getting ready to go and have there final written exams finished. Now it was time for the final battle exam to begin, the test that if they pass would make them SeeDs.

Rinoa ran up to Gohan as he was in his blue cadet uniform ready to leave. "Gohan, good luck out there," she said as she gave him a light kiss on the cheek.

"I will Rinoa.........but after I come back......will you.....be my date at the commencement festival?" he asked her nervously. She was taken aback by his request but she walked up to him and gave him a hug. Wrapping his arms around him she went to his ear and said....

"Yes, I will"

Gohan leapt up in the air and kissed her on the lips in excitement. She wrapped her arms around him before he could ever leave and gave him a passionate one. Both continued there liplock on what seemed like a blissful eternity, even though it was only seconds.

"That's something else to think about Gohan-kun," she huskily said before she turned around and went to Edea's special training room. Gohan stood there for a second and touched his lips. Then he sped out into battle and filed outside the front gate of the garden.

Outside the Garden Gate

"Now listen up........we must go to the City of Balamb and meet there at 0900 hours which means....you have only one hour to get in your designated vehicles and look around the city so I suggest you get a move on," suggested Quistis. The cadets filed out and went to there authorized vehicles.

"Gohan, why are we going to these vehicles when we could just fly?" asked Trunks.

"I guess because it's protocol," replied the other demi-saiyan. Then Selphie ran up to Trunks and hugged him.

"You'd better get back ok Trunksy.....or else no date," she smiled at the lavender-haired one.

"I will Selphie," he blushed as she lightly kissed him on the lips. She smiled and ran off to class as usual.

The two young men walked into their vehicle and Trunks decided to drive to the city.

In Balamb

The City had a blue motif as they were a port city. Near the gate was a car rental place, the city streets were the very same color as the buildings. The vehicles pulled into the loading dock where the armored gunboat was there to meet them. The soldiers file out of the vehicles and face Quistis for a briefing. It was just a repeat on what she said before about the mission and how they would be graded.

The young students exit there vehicles. The smell of the salty sea air hits there nose as they walk toward the big sub and the ocean breeze came in and felt cool upon there uniformed bodies. Gohan and Trunks took one last look out at the sea before they entered the sub and walked over to sit down.

Quistis and her friend, a young chinese woman with shoulder length black hair and olive eyes by the name of Xu, went over to the huge computer screen and a huge map popped up on that blue screen. They told how there was a new dictator in Galbadia who is named Jacob O'Toole and that he tried to re-invade the city of Timber and take it over again.

The young men received there briefing about the mission and walked around inside the submarine. Xu waved Gohan over there towards her.

"Hello Cadet Son......the headmaster wanted me to give you something," she said as she handed a rather strange looking sword to Gohan. The weapon had a pistol grip, an ice-blue jagged blade and a silver lion's head key chain dangling down from the handle.

"I can't..." he said before she interrupted him.

"The one who owned this gunblade would want a warrior such as yourself to take this weapon and use it as he did in battle.....take it Gohan," stated Xu as she held the blade there. Gohan, after much questioning in his mind, took the blade and gave a look at it before he put in into the black leather scabbord and put on the belt.

The sounds of the fighting could be heard from the gunboat as small explosions were on the landscape. The engines drowned out most of the noise of the battle, but the tension caused by them made most of the cadets nervous. The sweat of frayed nerves could be smelled inside the sea tank.

Gohan and Trunks however didn't feel the ping of nervousness one bit. There battle experience with androids, aliens and demonic pink blobs had them ready for anything season troops can do.

In Timber

The gunboat showed up on Mandy Beach. Bombs were going off and machine gun

fire went soundly into the landscape as the Timber resistance and the Army of Galbadia battled each other. Also there were spells going on as well as the gunfire.

"Ok listen up....most of you will help out the Timber Resistance. Cadet Son and Cadet Briefs however, will take care of those huge monsters helping the G-Army...now go!," she shouted as the sounds of war echoed throughtout the beach.

Both Gohan and Trunks took to the air and flew toward the monsters. But a group of fighters decided to try and attack them, big mistake.

Gohan made a full charge to the flying soldiers and then just disappeared. Trunks flew toward the group and tore apart a few planes. Gohan went behind and flew throught a few more planes as the squadron looked on in a panic and wisely fled the scene.

They approached the two monsters. Both were towering 35 feet in height, two huge wings, dark brown skin and tan horns and tail. The body shaped kinda like a bee.

"Ok let's get those Elenoyles," yelled Trunks to his fellow demi-saiyan. The two fighters fly up and attack the two monsters

Gohan went into the air and the winged creature swiped at him. He missed him because of the alien's super speed. It couldn't keep up with his movements as his spiky haired opponet kept dodging the swipes.

Trunks faired good as well, blocking one of the monsters strikes before turning Super Saiyan and flying right through the thing.

Gohan pulled out his newly given Gunblade and flashed above the monsters head. With one stroke of the blade he beheads the monster and the flame consumes it.

The day wasn't done however as a horde of that same type of demon flew toward the two Saiyans.

Gohan decided then to gather his ki. With one push he became a Super Saiyan and the two of them went into the seemingly endless horde of monsters.

Just as quick as the monsters came they were destroyed by the two fighters. The other SeeD, along with a little help from Timber resistance and through the death of the Elenoyles, drove the Galbadian Army out of the city.

Feeling the air of calm after the battle, and the stench of the dead monsters both fighters and fellow SeeD go back to there Gunboats and leave the city of Timber, not even sticking around for the victory celebration.

At the Garden

Rinoa and Selphie looked on as the vehicles pulled into the parking lot. They watched as the SeeD cadets exit there vehicles. Both girls watched for the two men that would be there dates tonight at the SeeD initiation ball. When the two of them exited the vehicle they were instantly tacked by the two girls.

"So, Gohan, I guess you'd better get in your formal SeeD uniform," she said as she got off of him.

"Well Trunksy...I guess I gotta date ya then," she said as she winked at the purple haired young man.

The two Saiyans blushed as they walked into the main building. The four of them chatted away until.....

An explosion was heard in the training center. Gohan searched for ki and found two 'familiar' ki's inside there.

"Trunks.......let's go see what two certain demon children did," Gohan groaned at his fellow fighter. Mirai nodded and the two of them ran inside the center.

What they found was all the green palm trees were knocked down, and a huge pile of rotting monsters collecting greenflys and other insect. A huge pungent odor was in the air as the beasts decayed. The four of them looked like they were about to puke when...

Two little junior classmen, who weren't supposed to be in the training center, descend down in gas masks.

"Hey Goten....I think we overdid it," Trunks stated to Goten.

"Yup," Goten laughed as he scratched the back of his head.

Meanwhile a few Garden Faculity personnel decided to go inside and they saw the two young Saiyans in the air with the pile of dead monsters and broken trees.

Trunks and Goten looked at each other. They did it because they knew they were in trouble.....big trouble.

Mirai Trunks and Gohan were in the hall, waiting for the announcement as to who passed the final examination and thus became the SeeDs. The tension was nerveracking as the Cadets waited for the message.

After about thirty minutes of waiting the intercom sounded off.

'Ahem........Mirai Trunks Briefs, James Cauldron, Niles Candish, Cho Wang, and Son Gohan, please come to my office,' called Cid's voice from the intercom. The rest of the Cadets groaned as the lucky ones entered the elevator and went up to the third floor to the Headmasters office.

They entered the office, it was nice with the painting of people and angels on the ceiling, and ornate nautical memorabilia decorating the room.

"It is a tradition for all of the SeeD to have there Uniforms issued here," said Cid proudly as he brought out the six formal SeeD uniforms.

"Congradulations, Mirai Trunks...you are now a SeeD," he smiled as he handed the uniform to him. He did the same to the rest of the cadets until he made it to Son Gohan.

"Son Gohan, you have the highest score to have ever been earned on the SeeD exam in a long time......it gives me great pleasure to present this uniform to you," stated Cid with a smile as he handed the uniform to him. The Cadets stood at attention and the headmaster dismissed them.

At the Dance

Gohan walked to the ballroom with his date, Rinoa and they entered the ballroom. The young saiyan was nervous at all the formality of this dance, the ladies were in there best dresses and they were dancing as if they were light on there feet. He looked over at Rinoa....who was in a beautiful, short, simple white dress and he looked in awe. The color really set off her slightly tanned skin.

"Rinoa...you're beautiful," he said as he looked at her and walked toward the dance floor and took her by the hand.

"You don't look so bad yourself handsome," she cooed as they went to the ballroom floor. The music started going, and it was a beautiful song from violins and Cellos. A small orchestra played a beautiful melody as the two young people started dancing like they were light on there feet, Gohan taking her hand while the other went around his dates waist as he danced with her.

Then as soon as the music stopped, another song.....much slower than the other one played out. The two of them held each other tight, close to each other, Gohan's arms wrapped around her as she leaned her head against his chest The two felt like they were in heaven, oblivious to the other couples as they danced slowly.

But all to briefly the music ended and the band went into a 4 minute intermission. Both songs were really long like about 30 minutes each.

As the people disperse and mingled with each other Rinoa went to Gohan's ear and....

"Wanna go to the Secret Area Gohan-kun," she huskily asked him.

"Why not," Gohan smiled.

Rinoa wrapped her arms around him as they both sneaked off outside the ballroom.
