Chapter 1: Cell's invasion of SeeD

It was a fine day at the magic/military school Balamb Garden, one of the schools under the SeeD forces. The time two months after the great battle with Ultimecia, the evil sorceress who tried to gain all the power of the god Hyne, by Time Compression, a phenomenon which allowed the past, present and future to become one time, and thus ultimately destroy the fabric of time. Three of the six SeeDs responsible for the evil one's death were in the training room, and battled the monsters captured for training use.

"These monsters give you a workout, don't they," gasped Rinoa, tired after defeating about 700 monsters in the center.

"Yeah, ha,ha" panted Zell, his head and arms hanged down in exhaustion, obviously more exhausted than his two partners.

"We have to keep training," he replied to the other SeeD and his sorceress girlfriend, Rinoa, not even out of breath.

Rinoa just shook her head at her love and they entered the door. The other room they entered had tropical vegetation, and a few trees, just like the room they came from had the same thing. The humidity was kept around 90 percent so the trees could thrive and the monsters could come out. The entrance to the center was to the right of the entering soldiers. As they surveyed the area for monsters however...

A small, blond-haired boy entered the room. He ran as fast as he could in his small SeeD cadet uniform. The boy ran up to Squall and stopped. He breathed hard as Squall looked at him with concern.

"You know junior underclassmen aren't allowed in the training center!!!!" Squall yelled.

"I know s-sir, b-but," stuttered the young boy, who could have been no more than seven years old.

"Hey little guy don't be nervous, tell us what's wrong okay," said Rinoa, with a smile on her face, bent down to his eye level.

The boy was given a chance to catch his breath as he tried to tell the three people what happened.

"There was this, this green guy, he looked really ugly, he, he," the boy couldn't finish his sentence as he remebered the events he sobbed and couldn't speak clearly.

"There, there little one it's alright," the young sorceress gently stated before she hugged the little one, "we'll go and find out what's wrong, okay."

The boy had a smile that struggled against his frown. Rinoa motioned to Zell and he came up to her.

"Zell, take him someplace safe, Commander Squall and I will check this out," ordered Rinoa to the wild, blond haired one in the blue denim knee shorts. He saluted as he grabbed the boy and ran to take him someplace safe.

The other two ran out of the training center, down the hall that was linked to the room. What they found in the main hall would shock anyone, even veterans in battle.

The grand hall had as many as one hundred bodies, most had limbs ripped off. Blood was in streaks on the walls and the cylinder in the center which housed the elevator. Where the two exited was two headless bodies, both had SeeD uniforms on them. Squall looked at the dogtags on the uniforms and easily identified them.

"Mandy Esthar, and Nida Lang," Squall confirmed. Rinoa gasped because Mandy was Zell's girlfriend, and she knew he would have been in shock if he knew. Nida was the pilot of the garden during the Ultimecia wars and was a valued member of SeeD.

Meanwhile, Squall and Rinoa stepped over the bodies to look for the monster responsible for this destruction. He ran a half circle around the main rotunda, toward the exit to the main lobby where he saw the creature, who blocked the door with his body.

The creatures body was green, with a black spotted pattern all over his body. It had two huge, black insect style wings and a round, pink stinger inbetween them. The face was the face of a human, with purple eyes. It laughed as the creature looked at the two people in front of them.

"So, you must be Squall Leonhardt and the Sorceress Rinoa," scoffed the creature in his baritone, english accented voice.

"Cell, I thought you were killed at the Cell Games," replied Squall cooly at the green monster.

Cell just looked at him stoically as he crossed his arms. Cell lifted his hand and pointed a finger at him. A spark appeared on his finger, so small no one would notice. Squall growled as he took his sword in the both of his hands. He charged at him with all his might, one foot right in front of the other, the light blue gunblade with the pistol grip glistened as he went closer to the monster. Squall leapt up into the air and as he wanted to slash the creature. As the leader of SeeD came closer to him.

Cell fired the blast from his finger. The attack impaled Squall in the chest. In midair, the SeeD lost his grip on the gunblade and dropped it just before he hit the ground. Squall felt the shock of the blast that went through his chest as he landed on the ground. He rolled on his side a couple of times before he laid on his back. Rinoa looked on in horror as her boyfriend hit the floor. She ran to Squall, who laid at Cell's feet. She crouched down and watched as the man shivered, his life escaped him by the second.

"R-in-chan," he uttered before he coughed up a little blood. Rinoa grasped his hand and held it tightly as she held his hand tightly. Rinoa kiss his hand as Squall continued to shiver. Before he could say anymore, however, his grip on Rinoa's hand went to nothing. Tears appeared in the eyes of the Sorceress as she kissed her lover's hand. Her sadness appeared on her face as she sobbed. Cell, being the evil one he was, scoffed at this emotional moment.

"So your little boyfriend died, I don't know what it is with humans and there petty emotions," laughed Cell mockingly.

Rinoa heard this and her sadness turned into anger. Her body shook with anger as she got up. Her legs rose up and she stood on her feet . She looked at the laughing cricket man with a serious face as she rose her hand over her head. An energy ball flashed on the right hand as she looked at Cell. The ball became the size of a basketball rather quickly as she yelled out this attack.

"Energy Bomber!!!!!!" she shouted as she threw the blast at Cell. The ball of ki hit Cell with enough ferocity to send him through the door. The green android continued as he flew through the entrance. Many SeeD watched as the monster went flying through the iron gate of the school. Rinoa charged up her ki, and a pair of wings appeared on her back. She flew with the same speed as Cell did out the entrance and landed near it at the front gate.

Cell struggled to get to his feet as he looked at the sorceress. He wiped the small amount of purple blood on his lips and smiled at the apparent challenge that the young sorceress presented to him.

'So, this little woman has more spunk than I gave her credit for,' he thought, with his smile still apparent on his face.

The two stared at each other. Neither of them knew what move to make. Cell looked at her and then all of the sudden, he fled. It, with the sudden burst of energy, took off into the afternoon sky.

Rinoa saw the disappering figure of the evil being that killed her boyfriend. She sat down on the steps, the emotional effect of the stress hit her all at once at that moment. She cried, her tears touching her clothing and the pavement. She turned around to see if anyone was behind her.

Her friends, Irvine, who was in a brown cowboy outfit with a lighter shade at the elbows on his coat and a darker shade that was the color of his hat. Quistis, who had on a navy blue SeeD uniform, with a red bowtie, white shirt, along with a navy blue skirt and dress coat. Selphie, who had on her yellow overall shorts with brown high-heeled boots.

The friends of Rinoa ran up to her and saw her crying. Quistis, the blond haired one with the glasses, walked to where she sat and decided to sit down and wrapped her arm around her.

"I heard about Squall, Rin-chan," she said sadly, as she tried to comfort her friend. The others walked down together to do the same thing. The little group stood up and escorted their friend back into the building.

Three Days later

All SeeDs were in there formal dress. The female cadets in there navy blue uniforms, with the coat and the same color skirt with black panty hose and black heeled shoes. The male cadets had on there navy blue uniforms and black ties. The SeeDs had on similar uniforms, with there suits black and there ties and tietabs a red color and a little more ornamented with medals and honors.

The procession went on as the people stood in attention as they watched the more than 100 caskets pass forward through the entrance. One by one each casket, with the exception of Squall's because he had no family and was raised by the two headmasters, was loaded onto a brown ship with huge white sails. On the vessel, there were people in white uniforms and white headbands that took in the caskets for there remains to be sent to there families. After the last casket was loaded, the ship went off to do it's duty.

Meanwhile, Squall's casket was lifted by six people, all of which knew him well. In fact, five of them battled Ultimecia with him, while the other, Captian Xu, a chinese female, helped them with navigation and was a close friend of Quistis. The pallbearers walked the lonely five-hundred feet, along with fellow students to the SeeD graveyard, where students with no families go.

At the site of burial, Headmaster Cid, who was in a black suit with a white shirt and a black tie, stood on the podium. His tears were apparent on his face as he looked at the procession. The pallbearers placed the casket onto the lift, where they would lower the casket. The headmaster walked up to the podium and took a deep breath as he had to give his funeral speech.

"Hello, fellow SeeD, three days ago we lost a great leader. I knew Squall Leonhardt, he was a fine man and he lead us in a time of great peril. Ever since he was a small boy, I felt that he would be a good man and a good soldier, but he was also a friend, and a son to me. When I saw a man, who was heading to Esthar to stop the Sorceress Adel hand me that bundle I swore to have him grow up to be a man.

Squall became that man. He lead us in a time of peril, a time where an evil sorceress tried to rule the Cosmos. I'm sure everyone here is grateful on what he has done for us.

But when he died in battle, the monster that killed him struck a blow in each of us. Him and the other 125 that perish, trying to defend this school. We must make sure that there sacrifice wasn't in vain. Please, take this day to mourn the loss of your comrades. Squall and the others would want us to go on with our day to day, but we must have at least this day to mourn. Now go reflect upon this day and remember there sacrifice."

Cid stayed standing. All of them saluted as the body of the fallen commander lowered into the ground. The SeeD tried not to weep for him, but some were so devastated that they couldn't control there grief. The people walked off and went back into garden to mourn there loss.

That night

Rinoa went into her room. She plopped down onto her bed and sobbed. She tossed and turned in her nightie and robe as she couldn't get any sleep. As if the emotional weight of the death of her love exhausted her she went to sleep. In her sleep, a dream entered her mind.

She walked onto a war torn battlefield. The strangest thing was that there were no dead bodies. She walked a few paces and all of the sudden Squall appeared right in front of her.

"Squall!!" she proclaimed in excitement as she rushed up to hug him. The man put up his hand and told her to stop. Rinoa looked at him, surprise that he would shy her away now.

"Squall....I," she tried to get the words out but he walked up to her and put a finger to her lips.

"Rinoa, look at this," he simply stated as he pointed straight ahead. What was revealed shocked her to say the least.

Two figures were in a titanic struggle, both with beams of light neither toppled the other. One figure was a very familiar one, the one that killed Squall, while the other, was a person from childhood a figure she had not seen in years.

"Gohan..." she gasped as she looked upon the boy. He was badly scarred, blood dried on his forehead, and one arm hung limp. The hair was golden in color, his blue gi torn in a few places. The green one, that evil Cell, urged the boy to surrender, while another figure, one who looked similar to the boy except older and taller, with an orange gi, coached him through the ordeal. Rinoa watched this fight with anticipation as the two people struggled.

As it continued, he looked up and saw a short man overhead. The man fired a blast from his hand and it struck the evil one. He went forward a step and he was distracted.

The boy was told by the older man behind him in spirit that now was the time. Gohan unleashed a surge of energy one strong enough for him to overpower the beast. He walked towards the beast, each step hurt more than the rest as he pushed forward. The combined power of Gohan and Cell evaporated each and every particle of the green android. The girl gasped as each and every turn of the battle waged onward.

He walked forward a few steps after Cell's destruction and then collapse onto the ground. Satisfied in the defeat of Cell, he made a small laugh in exhaustion. The image of the battle faded in front of Rinoa's eyes.

She smiled at the boy, proud of her childhood friend. She turned around and all of the sudden, Squall was gone. She called out his name but there was no response.

Squall.....why did you leave me again," she said as sat down and tucked herself into a ball. She rocked back and forth as she cried.

"Hey why so sad?" asked a voice. Rinoa heard it and stood up to find another man. She held her hand to her chest as she saw the man. He had spiky, ebony hair, a strong muscular build, the same style gi as Gohan wore in battle, eyes the color of coal, and a smile on his face that disappeared when he saw her sad face.

'Who is this stranger, could it be......could it be him........ the one that defeated Cell those seven years ago,' thought the young sorceress as she struggled within herself to believe who he is.

"G-Gohan, Gohan," she said as she saw the man in front of her. As he walked up to her, he muttered these words.

"Wake up, wake up...." he continued to say as the dream faded.

She went back into reality and heard Selphie tell her those same words. She woke up and sprang up, her friend startled by the reaction.

"Rinoa, are you okay?" she asked her as she backed away and sat down on her dresser.

"Yea Selphie," she answered with her head down.

"Then tell me something, who is this Gohan character you were dreaming about?" she asked.

Rinoa just looked down as she said this, "a friend that I haven't seen in a long time.
