Chapter 12

Tseng was furious. Why hadn't told them what the clones had done to her? Rape? Jenova cells?
"Tseng, we were enemies. What did you expect them to do, offer me tea?" Axys said, annoyed.
The brothers sat listening to Axys defend them-again-and finally Kadaj stood and walked between Tseng and his sister.
"Look, we know what we did to her. He tortured her. We forced her to . . . do things . . . We mutated her body with a gene that could have killed her. We know that we hurt her, and she has been gracious enough to forgive us all. We can never make up for what we did to her. I'm sorry for that." He turned to Axys and took her hands in his. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry that we did those things. But you know what? I'm not sorry I met you. You saved us. The fraud is gone forever, and there are people all over the world searching, making sure that our mother's desires are finally achieved. We can never repay you for what you've done. All we can do it love you for it. And I do. I love you, my sister."
Axys wiped a tear from her eye and pulled Kadaj into a tight embrace. "I love you too, Brother."
Tseng watched the interaction, and was forced to question himself yet again. 'Am I sure I don't like women?' He knew instantly how Rude had fallen for her so quickly, and now Yazoo. Hell, if he were straight, he'd kill Yazoo and take Axys for himself. Such forgiveness. Such trust. He almost envied her.
"The results are back." Professor Kaio announced, stepping into the room. "It was difficult, because the Jenova cells overtook most of your own DNA, but we were able to determine paternity. Loz," He turned to Loz and everyone in the room held their breath. "You are not the father. Yazoo, that pleasure belongs to you." The rest of the gang cheered and took turns patting Yazoo on the back.
"Praise Leviathan." Loz muttered.
"Thank you for doing this, Loz." Axys said, hugging him.
"It's not a problem. You're family. WE'RE family. You gave that to us. It's me who should be thanking you."
"Okay, can we stop trying to make the Axys cry?!" Axys said, again wiping a tear from her cheek.
"Would you like to know the sex of the baby?" Kaio asked.
"You can tell the sex from a blood test?" Axys asked, shocked.
"Science has come a long way, Ms. Stonehawk. And I'm brilliant, remember?"
Axys laughed. "What do you think, Yazoo? Should we wait, or find out-"
"Now." Yazoo said.
"It's a boy." Deafening cheers rose from the men. The women just shook their heads and sighed their "aw's", except Axys. She looked thoroughly relieved that her baby was a boy.
"You WANTED a boy?!" Yuffie screeched.
"Yuffie HUSH, you'll wake the dead!" Vincent scolded.
"Yuffs, I don't even know how to BE a girl, let alone raise one!" Axys explained.
"Well you certainly know SOMETHING about being a girl, else you wouldn't be in this situation." Tifa pointed out.
"Oh, you're terrible!"
"Well, what are you gonna name him?" Cloud asked.
"Well, to be honest, I've been thinking about it. I like Zurui. It means sly, or cunning. What do you think, Yazoo?"
"I think," Yazoo said, kissing Axys' forehead, "Zurui is a wonderful name."
"What say we celebrate?" Kadaj said, slinging his arm around Yuri. "Yuri's father offered us a VIP table at the Nikko Niwa."
"That sounds great, Kadaj!" Axys agreed. "Professor? Would you like to join us?"
"No, thank you. I have some more work to do."
Axys nodded. Tseng? You'll bring the others? It's been a while since I've seen Mr. ShinRa."
"I suppose we could do that."
"Great!" Kadaj said. "Meet us at Nikko Niwa in an hour then!"

With over twenty people there, a celebration is sure as Shiva what it was!
Yazoo, Axys, Vincent, Yuffie, Shera, and little Cidney were the only people NOT drunk. They were all learning so many new things about each other.
A lot was learned about Loz that night. About his . . .preferences. Reno's too. They were the same. They were each other. Axys, Kadaj, and Yazoo were the only three surprised by Loz. No one was surprised about Reno. Not. A. One.
They also learned that Elena and Tseng were not a couple, as so many people had thought. Elena was with Rude. Happily, in fact. Tseng was with Rufus. The Wutaian man sat with his lover and didn't budge all night long, trying valiantly to pass for sober. They were an inspiration. The very portrait of perseverance. Rufus' scientists were still searching for a cure for Geostigma, and moving along much faster since the triplets offered their knowledge of the disease.
Shera stood, bid the group goodnight, and ushered her drunken husband away like a spoiled five-tear-old.
Loz and Reno suddenly stood as well. "I'm gonna go show Reno the . . .Dual Hound." Loz said, leading Reno away quickly.
"He's gonna show him a hound alright." Yuffie muttered.
"Yuffie!" Vincent-again-scolded. Then laughed. You are absolutely FILTHY.
"You love it." She said.
"I do, sadly."
Axys watched in immense confusion. "But-he-" She stuttered.
"I know." Both Kadaj and Yazoo said at the same time.
Kadaj took his cue from Loz and stood, pulling Yuri to her feet. "Hey Yuri, do you want to see my . . .Souba?" her winked in what he thought was a discreet way, but, as drunk as he was, discreet was far from how it came out.
"Kids." Rufus grumbled, shaking his head. Kadaj just scowled and led a blushing Yuri away.
Tseng patted Rufus' thigh and then squeezed it gently, then turned the conversation to Yuffie and Vincent.
"So, Vincent. Do you plan on returning to active duty, or are you using your paid vacation to stay with your wife while she's pregnant?"
Yuffie lunged across the table and clamped her hand over her brother-in-laws mouth, but it was too late. The damage was done.
"Yuffie, you're pregnant too?" Axys asked, softly.
Yuffie sighed. "Yes. We were going to wait till after we left Wutai to tell everyone. You all know that I don't want to rule, and if Godo knew I was pregnant, he would force me to follow tradition."
"Well," Tifa said, "Now that it's out in the open, boy? Girl?"
"Boy." Vincent said, claiming his son. "We're naming him Viktor. Viktor Grimoire Valentine."
Yuffie grinned and *squee*ed. "Isn't he great?" she said, hugging her husband. "Oh! Oh!" She said suddenly, and very excited. "We should have a double baby shower! I'm due about a week before you! July sixth."
Oh boy.

{Six months later}

Yazoo stood be the now crystal-clear waters of the lake in the Forgotten City. He stared at his reflection, reliving what was the most wonderful day of his life.

{Flashback}

The ceremony had gone beautifully. Axys looked stunning in her silver princess-cut wedding gown, her swollen belly accentuated perfectly by the cut of the dress and making Yazoo swell with pride. She looked radiant as she floated to his side at the altar. Her now ankle length hair swayed in the breeze and swished back and forth enticingly.
Rufus married them, giving his blessing before leaving for Edge with his misty-eyes lover. Vincent left quickly after the ceremony with his own very pregnant wife. Yuffie, Tifa, and Yuri had sobbed all over Axys-Yuri soon to be a part of the family herself.

{End flashback}

And now Yazoo stood alone by the lake. Axys was waiting for him in the chopper that was to take them to Cosmo Canyon to await the birth of their son.
"Brother." Loz said. Yazoo jerked from his reverie to see Loz and Kadaj approaching him with a large box.
"What is this?" Yazoo said as the package was handed to him.
"Open it." Kadaj said.
Yazoo did so and gasped at the beautiful gun that lay inside. It was silver, and the handle was engraved behemoth horn. The engravement spelled one word. Hokori.
"It means pride." said Marlene, who had attached herself to Loz's leg-permanently, it seemed.
Loz chuckled and patted the girl on the head. "Vincent made it." He said.
"It's beautiful." Yazoo said, still staring at the amazing weapon.
"So is your bride, Brother." Kadaj said. "Don't keep her waiting on her wedding night."
"Thank you, my brothers." Yazoo said. He embraced them both.
It felt strange, but right. In four years, it was the first time they had ever been so far apart.
But they were all closer than ever.
