**AN: Ok, the summary really sucks, and so does the name of the fic! Anyway, this is my first AU fic. The plot just came to
me this morning while at work. I've actually only thought out the first chapter, meaning that I have no idea where I'm going
with this fic. The idea has probably been used before, and may be a bit stereotypical, but I'm gonna try and add my story
something that will make it unique. Hope you read and review.**

Chapter 1:

"Ok guys, that's it. Hit the showers!" the coach called and blew into his whistle, announcing the gym class had come to its end.
It was Friday afternoon, and the school day was finally over. The floor boomed as all the guys ran to the locker-room across the
gym. "And everybody showers!!" the coach reminded, making his way to the teacher's room. A certain brown-haired boy
lingered in the gym hall, while the other guys were already in the locker-room. He knew what awaited him when he got to the
showers. It was the same every Friday afternoon. And Squall hated it. He blew his longish hair from his face and sighed, as he
finally entered the locker-room. The boy stood still and listened. Different voices reached his ears, all coming from the showers.
'Maybe if I'll just wait here...they'll be gone soon, and I can shower alone.' Squall contemplated and tried to remain unnoticed.
Many of the guys had already showered and were leaving the locker-room. But unfortunately things didn't go the way Squall
hoped they would. One of the guys came back from the shower, drying himself with a towel. "Well, well, what do we have
here! If it isn't Miss.Wussyheart!" the older boy mocked, a cruel smile spreading onto his wet face. Squall tried to give him his
best scowl, but leaned against the door, as the other boy took a step forward.

"Me and the guys were already wondering if you'd show up at all!" he continued, nearing Squall. The brunette's grey eyes met
with green ones, as a tall blonde joined them from the showers. Squall watched him with dull eyes. The blonde boy walked to
his locker near by and used the towel to dry his short hair, not interfering with Squall's tormenting. The brunette's eyes returned
from the boy, as he felt his bully grab him by his shoulder. "You weren't thinking of skipping the shower, were you now?
*Skeleton-boy*" the older boy jeered, squeezing Squall's shoulder with his hand. Squall remained silent and just kept staring
the bully in the eye, trying to keep his composure. Two more guys made their way back from the showers and joined them.
Squall swallowed, but let no fear show from his face. He felt more hands grab him and knew exactly what would follow.

"Hey Almasy, don't you agree that the little geek has to shower too?" the main bully asked the tall blonde behind his back,
turning around to face him. "Yeah..." the blonde boy laughed quietly. He let his green eyes travel the length of Squall's body,
which was being held in place by three pairs of hands. Squall just narrowed his eyes at the blonde. The main bully turned
around and gave his two friends an approving nod. Squall yelped, as his lean body was suddenly lift up and he was being
dragged towards the showers. "Hey! Fucking let go of me!" the brunette boy growled through clenched teeth, trying to wriggle
away, his resistance futile. "Oh look Brad, the lady can swear!" one of the guys gibed as they neared the running showers.

"Hey guys...that's enough!" the blonde boy called, as he saw what his friends were about to do to the younger boy. He pulled his
jeans on and threw the towel aside, hurrying after them. When he reached the showers, Squall was already thrown on the floor,
sitting under the running shower. The boy's clothes were soaked, but he didn't get up, just sat there, his gaze nailed on the tiled
floor. He was being bombed with different insults, none of them new to him. Hesitantly Squall raised his wet face, as he heard
footsteps from ahead.

"I told you, that's *enough* Mike."

"What? But Seifer, I thought you told us to...I mean, you know what a little wimp he is..."

"No, I don't. But I do know you'll be collecting your teeth from the floor unless you leave him alone." Seifer told the boy, the
tone of his voice menacing. The only protest he got was an angry glare and some whispered swears. "Come on guys, were outta
here." Mike snapped his fingers, motioning for the two other guys to follow him out of the lockers.[1] The room was quiet. The
only sound heard was the running water. Seifer turned around to face Squall. The younger boy still sat on the floor, his hair
clinging onto his face. For some time Seifer stood still and let his eyes rest on the miserable sight before him. When Squall
made no effort to get up, the blonde let out a sigh and extend his hand for Squall. The brunette boy lift his face and saw Seifer's
outstretched hand. He frowned and narrowed his grey eyes, letting out a snort. "Like you even care...you're just like *them*."
Squall hissed and let his gaze return down on the floor. Seifer narrowed his eyes and pulled the hand back. "Yeah Squall, I'm
just like them!" Squall looked up, surprised by the anger and hurt in Seifer's tone. "I was just trying to be nice to you..." The
blonde whispered through clenched teeth and made his way to the lockers, leaving Squall bewildered.

The brunette boy finally stood up and turned the shower off. He suddenly realised something. 'Huh? H-he called me
'Squall'...but why?' The only person who called Squall by his real name, besides his family, was his best friend, Zell. Squall had
actually been sure his bullies didn't even know his real name, but Seifer there had proven him otherwise. Slowly the boy made
his way to his locker. He sat down on the wooden bench, dripping water on the floor. Squall heard Seifer close his locker with a
loud bang, and was bit startled by the sound. He watched as the blonde boy walked pass him, and met his angry green glare. For
some reason Squall felt bad about what just happened. Seifer was obviously hurt by him thinking he was just like all the other
bullies. 'But he *is*...isn't he?' the brunette asked himself, watching as the older boy left the locker-rooms, leaving Squall alone.
He stood up from the bench and started to remove his wet clothes, lost in his thoughts. It didn't take long for Squall to realise
Seifer actually had never done anything to him. Yes, the guy did laugh with the other bullies, when ever Squall was being
tormented with insults or stupid, childish tricks. But Seifer *was* always on the background, never the one to pull the trick or
call him names. And this wasn't the first time the older boy had stood up for Squall either. The brunette boy was confused. He
didn't understand why Seifer treated him differently. All the bullies were his friends, so why didn't he too join them in making
Squall's life a living hell? He had been bullied ever since he went to high school. Back then he was teased for doing well in his
studies, for being quiet and for having no friends. But now, when he was 17, his self-esteem was lowered even more by all the
insults made about his skinny frame and supposedly feminine looks. Squall knew he was lean, had no huge muscles or hairy
chest. But this didn't bother him. The comments about him looking like a girl however did annoy him. Just because his hair was
longish, didn't mean he was a damn a girl.

Squall was quickly fully dressed again and brought his wrist up to check the time. It was nearly five o'clock. Squall made his
way out of the locker-rooms and into the empty school halls. As he neared the main hall, he heard someone call his name.
"Squall! Wait!" a girl's voice called. Squall turned around and saw a dark-haired girl walk towards him. She was wearing a
simple pink top, a short blue skirt, and her hair was neatly braided. The girl came to stand before Squall, a little out of breath.
"Squall, right? We...um...live on the same block?" she enquired, raising one of her dark brows. Squall just gave her a nod. "Well
hi, I'm Rinoa." She gave Squall a friendly smile and offered her hand to shake Squall's. The brunette just stood still, and ignored
the gesture. Rinoa frowned, but the smile quickly made its way back to her petite face. "I-I just moved here some weeks ago, so
I haven't really had time to come and say hello. " she continued, trying to make a conversation. Squall gave her a faint nod and
let his eyes travel down to his wrist watch. "Well Squall, since we're almost neighbours, how about we go home together? Want
a ride?" Rinoa asked, her brown eyes meeting with Squall's. The brunette boy looked at his watch again. He was about to say
yes, since he didn't want to spend the whole Friday afternoon at the school.

"No he doesn't." Came a voice from behind their backs. Both turned around and saw Seifer Almasy walk towards them.
He came to stand before Rinoa and crossed his arms over his chest, looking determined. Rinoa did the same and gave Seifer a
menacing glare. When this had no effect on the blonde, she sighed and placed her hands on her narrow hips. "Aww, come on
Seifer! What's your problem?" Rinoa argued. "He lives on the same street, so why can't you give him a lift as well? ...Don't you
want to be nice to him?" She continued. Seifer snorted and met Squall's eyes. "Be nice to Squall, eh?..." he said with a lowered
voice. Squall felt a little sting of quilt in his heart and lowered his gaze. He was about to thank Rinoa for the offer and say no,
but was interrupted, when Seifer suddenly agreed. "Fine, I'll drive him too. Come on already, I don't wanna spend my weekend
arguing in front of the math class." the blonde sighed, and walked to the entrance and through the front doors.

:::To be continued:::

**Ok, I wasn't supposed to end the chapter like this, but I'm suddenly hardly able to keep my eyes open! Anyway, as you can
probably see, I'm not yet sure how exactly I'm gonna portray the characters. I really don't wanna make Squall a total geek, or
Seifer the typical good-looking captain of a football team. Well, I'm just gonna have to wait and see how the plot will develop
in my head. Also, you can give me advice if you want to. I'd be most pleased. Hope you tell me what you thought of the first
chapter, and let me know if there's even use in continuing the fic.**
