Upon the Beach

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~
He sat there watching the waves, the moonlight giving his hair a blood red color. Finally he got a break from working for Shinra. He had to admit it was fun while it lasted, running into AVALANCHE and "dueling" with them. Every now and then he'd go out and battle monsters to keep himself from getting bored. Now he just sat around at his Villa and watched the waves at night on the sugary sand. Alone.
His ears perked up when he heard a faint cough. A familiar cough, the cough when someone had one last breath of strength left. His emerald eyes darted across the sand to come upon a shaded figure crawl weakly onto the sand.
A wave swept her forward across the sand, her breathing rapid and harsh as she struggled to get ashore. When she couldn't push herself any further he saw her collapse onto the soft white sand.
Tifa looked up to see a blurry figure nearing her. She tried to get up but her body didn't budge. She felt her heart fall into the pit of her stomach as she realized it was a man. Her mind screamed but no words came from her lips as she lay there hopelessly. Tifa closed her eyes wishing it all away, praying this was all a dream…and then all was quiet.
He took off his deep blue jacket and wrapped it around her body after gently pulling the knife out of her. Then quickly he made his way back to his Villa with her in his arms.
Tifa gazed across the bar at him as he drank. One elbow perched up on the hard wood as her chin lay in the palm of her hand. Admiring his sunny hair as it fell back while he gulped down his shot. It was the first time she had seen him in such a long time, and she just had to admire what the years had done to his body. How much she missed looking into his blue eyes, now iced with Mako. But she didn't mind, in a way they looked sexy. Blue eyes with hints of silvery gray...making them shine like diamonds.
She caught herself looking into those eyes, her face only inches away from his. Her heart pounding, her breathing heavy. She stood there frozen as he stared at her, the flower in her hand gently slipping from her grasp. Then suddenly overwhelmed with embarrasment from being caught she grabbed his glass and turned quickly before he got a glance of her red cheeks. "You should go downstairs with the others."
When Tifa finally gained conscious, she left her eyes closed. Uttering in pain she clenched the sheets and gritted her teeth. Tears gracing her cheeks.
Tifa sneaked out of bed and inhaled the fresh air that welcomed her as she walked outside. She heard Cloud sneak out of the hotel and knew that this one moment was her only chance to tell him her feelings. Finally she could confess her hidden love for Cloud. She spotted him near the Cosmo Candle. Walking past the fire she could see his blonde hair. Tifa slowly walked up the steps gathering her strength. As she got closer she saw a pair of hands wrapped around his neck, and then she saw her...Aeris. Kissing Cloud. Tifa's eyes froze in shock. Cloud heard a small gasp from behind and turned to see Tifa standing there as she stared. She took a few steps back as Cloud slowly rose. "Tifa."
"No..." He took a step towards her, "...stay away from me." Tifa looks up into his eyes...his dull cold eyes.
~*When I look into your eyes*~
Her heart skipping a beat as she felt her heart shattering slowly to pieces...her love disintergrating.
~*There's nothing there to see
Nothing but my own mistakes
Staring back at me*~
The emptiness she began to feel inside suddenly making her feel sick. Taking a few more steps back, Tifa turned around and ran. "Tifa!" Cloud ran after her. Tifa ran through the entrance past the sleeping guard and down the stairs that led to Cosmo Canyon. Running blindly through the canyon as tears flooded her eyes, Tifa kept running until a hand grabbed her by the arm and spun her around. Once again she was looking into those blue eyes that she loved so much, but now all she felt was betrayal.
~*I've lied
To you
This is the last smile
That I'll fake for the sake of being with you*~
"Leave me alone!" Tifa tried to pull free but Cloud's grip was too strong. He pushed her against the canyon wall as she fought to free herself from him. "Let me go!" She punched at him and kicked. "I hate you! I hate you! Get away from me!" Then without warning his hand smacked her across the face sending her down onto the rocky ground.
~*Everything falls apart, even the people who never frown eventually break down
Everything has to end, you'll soon find, we're outta time, left to watch it all unwind*~
Tifa looked up at Cloud and saw him turn away without saying a word...and then she was alone. Alone in the dark, alone on the cold hard ground. Simply alone. She had no reason to fight anymore. She felt more tears run down her face as she lay there...alone.
~*For sake of being with you
Everything falls apart, even the people who never frown eventually break down
The sacrifice is never knowing
Why I stayed with you
Just push away
No matter what you see
You're still so blind to me
I've tried
Like you
To do everything you wanted to
This is the last time
I'll take the blame for the sake of being with you
Everything falls apart, even the people who never frown eventually break down
The sacrifice of hiding in a lie
Everything has to end, you'll soon find, we're outta time, left to watch it all unwind
The sacrifice is never knowing
Why I stayed with you
Just push away
No matter what you see
You're still so blind to me
Reverse physiology's failing miserably
It's so hard to be, left all alone
Telling you is the only chance for me
There's nothing left but, to turn and face you
When I look into your eyes, there's nothing there to see
Nothing but my own mistakes staring back at me
Asking why...
The sacrifice of hiding in a lie why
The sacrifice is never knowing
Why I stayed with you
Just push away
No matter what you see
You're still so blind to me
Why I stayed with you
Just push away
No matter what you see
You're still so blind to me*~
Yet...I kept fighting. Tifa opened her eyes and felt the tears fall from them. Despite all he had done I kept fighting...for him. She rolled over and hugged the pillow next to her, squeezing it as pain surged through her. She uttered silently as she waited for the pain to fade. After a few minutes she slowly sat up and got out of bed. She lookd at her new surroundings. The place looked familiar but Tifa's mind was too mixed up to even think of it. She walked out of the bedroom into another room. She ran her hand along the wall as she went through the living room.
That's where she saw him. A hand hung off the couch as a figure lay covered in a thin white sheet, his red hair poking out at the top. His chest heaving up and down as he rested silently.
Making her way down the nearby hallway she found the bathroom. Closing and locking the door behind her she flipped the light on. Catching a glimpse of herself in the mirror she froze. She looked at her face. Bruises across her cheeks and scabs on her eyebrow and the corner of her lip. Tifa reached up and touched her face as she gazed at it in shame. How could he? How could he? Before she could think more she saw her attire. A big grey T-shirt and a pair of black boxers. They obviously weren't hers. Slowly she lifted the shirt off and dropped it to the floor. A bandage was wrapped around her upper chest. Bruises here and there. Tifa took the boxers off. Bruises on her hips from hands...bruises on her back...scrapes and bruises. She stared at her body in disgust and shame. Her skin felt dirty. She felt dirty. Tifa dropped to her knees and sobbed into her shaky hands.
