Chapter 4: Memories

~Flashback~

"Erin, what is it?" Edea stated as she ran into the room.

Erin was just crying as she held Mackenzie. Aires was still sitting in shock, and Dr. Kadowaki had moved her to a bed to sit down.

"M...m...my ba...by... What's wr...ong with he...r?" Erin asked through tears.

"Hand her here Erin, let me see."

Erin handed Edea Mackenzie. Edea placed her hand on Mackenzie's forehead and gasped in shock. "Oh my goodness... This is something that's never happened before. Erin, your child was transferred some powers from when you were defeating the evil."

"From... when I was fighting?" Erin asked, trying to hold back any more tears.

"Yes... I'm guessing that you were carrying before that final fight..."

Seifer walked in and stood behind Edea.

"Yeah, I think it was for like a month, and only a month too... It had been one month since that night... Don't you remember Erin?"

Erin pushed back through her memories to 8 months ago. Yes, she remembered clearly. Coritsu had mentioned something about her carrying, but it was foggy.

"Remember Erin?"

"Yes... I do... Coritsu... she... she mentioned it... Said something like `Now Erin, we don't want to harm your children, do we?' It's been so long... But she mentioned it."

~End Flashback~

Erin brushed away her tears from that eventful day 13 years ago. The day Mackenzie was found with unimaginable powers. Powers that happened when a Siri and Itsu fought. But why hadn't Rachel and Sora gotten them? Why Mackenzie?

Shaina looked at her friend sitting next to her in front of the orphanage. A few kids were running around them, oblivious to the conflict going on in her head.

~Flashback~

Shaina stared at Seifer, not wanting to believe it.

"What!?"

"It's true. Go ahead and go in and see her."

"Fine!"

Shaina walked in the room to find a still crying Erin, and Edea trying to comfort her, holding a baby in her arms. Dr. Kadowaki's assistant was still holding the third and final child, the only boy.

"Erin?"

"Shaina? Oh, Shaina!"

"What's wrong? Edea? Matron?"

"Shaina, this child's been infused with the power of an Itsu. Unless we put it under control now..." Edea started.

"What? How?"

"The fight... I was… carrying... Don't you remember? Coritsu mentioned about me carrying! She said that, `We don't want to harm your children now, do we?' She HURT Mackenzie! She infected her!"

"Mackenzie...?"

"Yes, Mackenzie, that's her name."

~End Flashback~

Shaina stared at her hands, then looked back at the children running around. She noticed a child standing in the corner, leaning against the wall.

Erin looked at Shaina and wiped away another tear.

~Flashback~

"Mrs. Siri, you still need to name this young one."

"Hand him here then..."

The assistant handed Erin the youngest child. Erin placed her hand on his forehead and sighed in relief.

"Sora Fighling Siri."

"Very well then."

~End Flashback~

`Sora... Always the peaceful one... Always trying to break up Rachel and Mackenzie...'

~Flashback~

"Erin, we need a name for Mackenzie..." Shaina stated.

Erin nodded her head softly; the tears had finally stopped flowing.

"Matron... What do you think?"

"She's a rare case, one never before seen. But, there has been a name made just in case something like this happened."

"What is it then!"

"Siling."

"Ok, her name is Mackenzie Siling Siri."

~End Flashback~

`Mackenzie... Oh Mackenzie, you've always been like your father, just as Sora's like me. Always the one to break into arguments with other kids. Heck, you've even fought with me. Maybe that's what's made me too soft...'

Shaina looked over at Erin again and noticed some fresh tears starting to fall down her cheeks.

~Flashback~

"Shaina, could you go tell the others... Please? For me?"

"Of course Erin!"

Shaina walked out of the room. All eyes were on her as she entered the room where everyone else was waiting.

"Everyone, triplets. Rachel, Mackenzie, and Sora..." Shaina started.

"All healthy?" Soran asked.

"Yeah, but something's happened. Mackenzie... Well, Soran, do you remember our final fight against Coritsu? When all of us were weakened but Erin? Well, Coritsu told her something on the lines of, `We don't want to hurt your children now do we?'"

"What's wrong with Mackenzie?!" Squall order.

"Nothing! It's just... Well, during that fight, Coritsu managed to pass down some of her powers to Mackenzie, even before she was born..."

"Are you trying to tell me...?" Selphie asked.

"Yeah, Erin was a month pregnant at the time. Mackenzie has the powers of a Itsu, and the thoughts power of a Siri..."

"So what are the Itsu powers?" Soran asked.

"We don't know. Not even Matron. That's going to have to show in time."

~End Flashback~

Shaina blinked back the tears from the memory of telling all of her friends. Her attention diverted back over to the lone boy. Everyone seemed to be ignoring him. She decided that her and Erin should go and talk with him.

"Hey Erin, see that boy over there?" Shaina asked, pointing to the boy by the building.

"Yeah, what about him?"

"Let's go talk with him."

And with that, the two girls got up to go and talk with him.

A/N: Woah, ended up much longer than I expected. Well, I really didn't expect all the flashbacks either! Oh yeah, and if anyone's wondering, this is meant to show you, the reader, what happened when I left you at the cliffhanger on chapter 1! So... please review!
