Chapter 2

-------------------------------------------

An Hour after College has ended:
Almost Dusk…

Karin stands outside the College alone under the light of a recently turned on street-light, impatiently tapping her foot, waiting for Cloud to come out to tell her the verdict of his punishment; Tifa couldn't wait along side her because she had Karate practice to attend.

She blows a clump of bangs from her face and begins finger-combing her bangs into a neat-style; noticing for the first time today she had forgotten to comb them this morning, before brushing a crease from her knee-length grayish-maroon skirt.

Easily bored, she pulls her red scarf from her uniform-shirt and uses it to tie her hair up into a ponytail in the back of her head, then straightens her white-shirt and maroon-vest. She sighs and gets ready to leave without finding out Cloud's fate; wanting to leave soon.

“All that guy does is talk… I swear he loves to hear himself talk…”, she heard Cloud's voice complain; about the teacher, from the doorway.

“Took you long enough!”, she yells, stomping up to him, “So what's the verdict?”

“Where's Tifa?”, he asks.

Karin almost face-faults at his clueless response, “She has Karate-practice after class, remember?”, she states, “What is your punishment for stealing a trophy this time?”

“Detention for a week, plus community-service”, he replies, walking over to his motorcycle, “I'm so sorry I made you wait so long, Fenrir…”, he says, nuzzling his bike.

Karin just sighs while sweat-dropping, still not used to him naming and babying the vehicle.

“Well, I have to be heading home. See you tomorrow Cloud”, she says, turning to walk away.

“Hey Karin, you want a ride home?”

“No thanks… I've seen how you ride that thing, I'd be lucky not to have a heart-attack…”, she answers, waving him off, “Later…”

“Later…”, he says, starting up his motorcycle and speeds away down the street; the tires squealing the whole way.

“He's just lucky that Dean; Aeris Gainsborough, has a soft-spot for him…”, she mutters, walking in the opposite direction Cloud sped off to.

Vincent seeing she was completely alone, begins to silently trail the woman along the roof-tops, watching to see where she was heading; puzzled to why she was going this way, when the bus that took her to College had come from the direction her friend had gone.

`Is she one of the mind-puppet minions of Sephiroth?', he ponders, following her with his eyes and body.

Karin walks towards the Red-light district of Tokyo; the location where most of the kidnapping and murders were, she didn't show any fear, but her heart was pounding, as she walked down the sidewalk like she belonged there.

“Hey there babe, what to have some fun?”, a guy asks, his buddies coming out of the shadows of the ally-way to stand behind him.

“Not interested…”, she spat, continuing to walk away from them.

The guy grabs her arm.

“Release me”, she hisses behind clenched teeth, trying to break her arm free from his hold, but not having any luck, as he shoves her into the ally-way, followed by his buddies.

“Sure thing, sweet-cakes…”, he says, pinning her against the wall, “After we're done feasting, that is…”, he adds, opening his mouth to reveal elongated-canines.

“Kyuuketsuki…”, she growls.

(A/N: Transtation; Kyuuketsuki: sucking blood evil-spirits; vampire.)

`So she's not one of Sephiroth's mind-slaves…', Vincent thinks, having heard her growl from his vantage-point on the roof above the ally, `I'd better save her, don't need another vampire-related death in the city…', he starts to pull his peacemaker from inside his pocket.

“I'm surprised to say, you're the first victim to know what we are…”, he laughs.

“You won't be laughing for long…”, she smirks.

“Wha…? Uhhh…”, he groans, feeling extreme-pain in his neither-regions with her knee raised and planted in his crotch.

Karin slams the palm of her hand against the vampire's forehead, shoving him away from her body; a small barely noticeable flash of light igniting as she did.

“Huh…?”, Vincent gasps, noticing the light, `What was that?'

The vampire-gang leader falls back; eyes completely glazed over and fangs gone from his mouth, and lands on the ground lifeless, his gang looks from their fallen leader to the woman who did this to him, as she simply puts her bag onto the ground by her feet.

“Anyone want to take me on?”, she taunts, taking up a fighting-stance.

“S-she killed Tommy…”, one of the vampire-gang members stammers.

“Get her, she can't take us on all at once!”, another member shouts; obviously the second in-command.

The gang quickly swarms around Karin; determined to not let her get away without her blood drained. She just simply smirks while she draws a circle around herself in the dirt with her foot; creating a perimeter for range, and as soon as one of the gang-members crossed the line, she lets out powerful punch to the vampire's chest and he falls to the ally-floor; dead like his leader. When five of the members thought it was smart to attack all at once, she dishes out a round-house kick to their heads; not letting the fact she was wearing a skirt stop her, they fall to the ground but not dead only dazed. Unfortunately, she let her guard down a little too much, as she larger member of the gang grabs her in a head-lock.

“Nice work, Bunji”, the second in-command says, closing the distance between himself and the fighting woman, “I'm going to enjoy the first taste of your blood…”, he says.

Karin just continues to smirk, regardless of the situation she was now in.

“You little bitch!”, the gang-member snaps, raising his hand to smack her.

She simply elbows Bunji in the abdomen; causing him to release her, and she slides in between his legs to her bag, and pulls out a small-sword sized dagger, holding it protectively in front of her.

“What can a puny knife do to us?”, the vampire mockingly laughs.

“Plenty…”, she says, wrapping the cloth on the hilt around her right hand as to not lose her grip on it, before charging in at Bunji and slams her hand against his chest; the momentary flash of light appearing, and as his lifeless body begun to fall, she uses it to propel herself into the air and soar at the vampire mocking her, swinging her blade and slicing right through his neck; with the precision of a master-swordsman, the skin around the wound begins to sizzle as his head slowly falls to the ground.

“Who's next?”, she states.

The remaining gang-members stare at her; splattered-blood was sprayed on her College-uniform, her skin and hair, with blood dripping off of the silver-blade in her hand.

“Get her!”, one of the vampires orders, trying to assume command.

“Dude, she killed Tommy, Bunji, and Renkai!”, another vampire stammers, looking like he was going to piss himself.

“The only way she could have killed them is if she's the bearer of the `Banpaia Ten-Ki', you know, the one with the power to destroy vampires…”, a third member of the gang piped up.

`Banpaia Ten-Ki', Vincent gasps in his head, staring in shock at the blood-splattered young woman, `That was the power Lucrecia wielded…'

“We should go inform Lord Sephiroth…”, one of the vampires whispers to the newly appointed leader.

Karin cracks her knuckles with a smirk on her face, “Now that you guys know my secret, I'm afraid I can't let any one of you remain to tell your master about me…”, she states, putting her left hand in front of herself.

Existing in this place now are uncleanable lies
I wonder when it has began
How far do
I have to go the see the light…, she begins to silently chant, as a white aura starts to form around her and focuses into her left hand, her hair beginning to lift up and flutter in an un-natural wind, You live in shadow of shade and commit the eight sin
Unrequited existence will turn
Everything into nothing…, the aura turns silver and rushes forward at the gang of vampires, striking everyone of them in the ally-way.

Karin collapses to her knees; exhausted, “I've must have… used too much energy…”, she pants, catching herself by putting her hands on the ground as she fell forward, her vision begins to blur, “Way too much energy…”

A trash-can in the ally clatters as it falls over, causing her to look up and what she sees wasn't good for her in her current state; a lone member of the vampire gang escaped her attack, by not being in the ally and she didn't have the strength to defend herself from him.

“Crap…”, she mutters, completely collapsing to the ground; losing consciousness, as the vampire stumbled his way over his fallen-members towards the one who killed them.

“Clever little bitch, attacking with your energy, but stupid that you didn't count on one surviving…”, the vampire chuckles, “Now my dear, I'll drink you dry…”, he says, reaching out to grab her.

A gun-shot rings out in the ally, and the vampire is clutching the wound in his shoulder, while looking up at the one who shot him. Vincent just stands on the roof-top; in plain sight now, holding the still smoking peacemaker in his hand.

“Who the hell are you?”, the vampire hisses, “How dare you interrupt my meal…”

Vincent ignores the vampire as he effortlessly, yet gracefully, jumps down from the roof-top of the five-story building, landing on the ground without so much as losing his balance.

“You're not human!”, the vampire shrieks.

“I'm human… a cursed human…”, Vincent coldly replies, pulling the trigger on his gun.

The bullet pierces the vampire's other shoulder.

“Hah, do you think your meager bullets can hurt me?”, the vampire mocks.

“Mere bullets may not hurt you… but bullets loaded with liquid-silver can…”, he coldly retorts, allowing a small smirk grace his lips.

“What…?”, the vampire gasps, looking at his gun-shot wounds and sees silver slowly coursing through his veins towards his heart, “Shit…”, he curses, feeling the poisonous effects silver does to vampires, collapsing to his knees and begins to puke-up bile and the blood of his last victim.

“I'd say you have about three hours left to exist… Tell me where your master is and I'll end your suffering…”, Vincent proposes.

“No way…”, the vampire declines, picking up Karin's dagger and quickly slices his own head off with it.

“Shit…!”, Vincent curses, punching the wall with his fist, “How can I avenge you Lucrecia, if every lead I get ends up a dead-end…”, he whispers to the heavens, as the rain began to fall.

“Uhh…”, came the groan from Karin's unconscious form.

Vincent crouches beside Karin, looking down at her, “So she is the new bearer of the Banpaia Ten-Ki…”, he mutters to himself, watching as the rain washes the blood off of her skin, “I can't leave her passed out here in this ally, who knows if there are any other vampires in the area…”, he whispers, picking the young woman up in his arms, “But I don't know where her home is… I guess I have no choice but to bring her to the safety of my apartment…”, he sighs, not liking the idea one bit, but he had to keep her safe from Sephiroth and his minions.

But unbeknownst to him, the window of a black limousine rolls up; it's occupant having watched the girl's fight and seen her power, and the limo drives away before Vincent notices it.
