DemonGirl-Setsuna: Hi there! Setsuna here!

Karin was first captured by Sephiroth and when Vincent went to rescue her, he was captured as well…

What is going to happen next?

In other news, the CD-burner on my laptop rules! Now all I have to do is get one more writeable CD and I can finish burning all the music I still have left to burn!

And I bought myself a PSP and got the `Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core' game! I've played to the point of the story-line where Zack and Cloud are in Hojo's possession being experimented on and turned into Sephiroth-Clones!

Anyway…

Here is Chapter 16!

Please Enjoy!

Chapter 16

----------------------------------------

“Where am I?”, Vincent asks, as he looks around at the blackness that surrounded him.

“You failed to protect me, Vincent…”, a female voice echoes.

He turns around to find the speaker standing there in a blood-red kimono with glazed-over brown eyes and chestnut-brown hair being a drastic-contrast to her snow-white ashen-skin, the only color on her skin was the two blood-red puncture-wounds at the base of her neck.

“L-Lucrecia…”, he gasps, hesitantly takes a step towards her.

“You vowed that you'd protect me from Sephiroth, Vincent… But you didn't…”, she says.

“I tried to save you, but they captured me and…”, he began to say.

“You let me die… You watched as he killed me, Vincent…”, Lucrecia states in a mono-toned voice.

“Lucrecia… I did everything I could to save you…”, he tearfully explains, “But I wasn't strong enough…”

“You are no better than the vampires that murdered me…”, she coldly accuses, “My blood is on your hands, Vincent…”

“Lucrecia… I'm so sorry… Please forgive me…”, he cries, collapsing to his knees staring at his hands and sees them covered in the crimson-liquid, “I couldn't save you… Forgive me… Lucrecia…”

-------------------------------

“Lucrecia!”, he shouts out, his crimson-eyes snapping open, he tries to sit up when a pair of hands firmly grabs his shoulders and gently makes him lay back down, but a bout of dizziness turns the hands from making him lie-down into guiding him down.

“Vincent… It's alright, you were just having a bad-dream”, he heard a female voice calmly say.

The haze of blood-red & black slowly clears from his vision and he sees the worried-face of Karin looking down at him as his head rested in her lap.

“Ka-Karin…”, he weakly mutters, “W-where am I…?”

“The hospital-basement, you've been out for two days”, she replies.

“Two days…”, he groans, raising a hand to his head only to feel something attached to his arm and upon looking he finds an I.V. needle in his arm supplying blood into his body, “What the…?”

“You lost nearly all your blood after Sephiroth drained you”, she explains.

“H-how many days till… the eclipse…?”

“Five more days”, she says, “Just try to regain your strength…”

“Wait, I was out for two days…”, he begins to utter.

“You didn't go seeking blood while you were attached to the I.V. of blood”, Karin informs, “I don't know why we didn't think of trying that for your nightly-cravings before…”

“That could have saved me from some mental-angst…”

“Now no more thinking on the subject, you need to conserve your energy…”, she instructs.

“White Destiny…”, he mutters.

“Huh…?”

“The song you were singing the day you first ran into me… Could you sing it…?”, he asks, with his eyes closed.

“Sure”, she nods.

“Thank you…”, he whispers.

“How was that?”, she questions.

“Beautiful…”, he weakly replies, “I haven't heard that song in over 300-years…”

“What…?”, she gasps, `In 300-years?! How does he know my song?!', she mentally exclaims, “Vincent…?”

The door to their basement-cell unlocks and is swung opened, allowing three vampires to enter followed by Hojo.

“Grab him…”, the evil doctor orders.

Karin protectively wraps her arms around Vincent's shoulders, drawing him closer to herself, “What do you want with him?”, she growls, revealing no fear.

“Sephiroth has requested an audience with his…guest…”, he sneers, wrenching her arms from the weakened man, allowing the undead-youths to grab him and drag him from the room, “You're pretty pathetic if I can tear your beloved from your arms…”

She only smirks up at him before quickly grabbing hold of the vile-doctor's arm, biting down as hard as she could into the flesh before he could stop her.

“You little bitch!”, he shouts, slapping her across the face in an attempt to get her to release the toothy-grip she had on him.

She releases her grip, spitting the blood that had gathered inside her mouth at him, staining his white lab-coat in a splotch of red.

“You filthy little animal!”, he shrieks, clamping a hand over the bleeding gash.

“I have to admit, Vincent's poison-filled blood has a better taste than your rotting-blood…”, she scoffs, wiping the remaining blood from her mouth, “My powers may not work on you, but I have other weapons to use against creeps like you”

“Why you…?”, he snarls, raising his bleeding arm up to slap her again.

“Hojo stop…”, a velvety-voice states from the doorway.

“S-Sephiroth…”, he gasps, turning to face the Vampire-lord, “Did you see what she did to me?”

“I had warned you not to let your guard around her… She is very resourceful…”

“O-of course…”, the doctor mutters.

“Now go treat that wound before the lesser-vampires see it and forget that you're not on the menu…”

“Y-yes… I'll do that immediately…”, he stammers, rushing out of the room.

Sephiroth's green-eyes follow his human-ally scamper down the hall before setting his eyes onto the only one chained inside the room, “I wish that you would refrain from injuring my employees during your stay…”

“I don't have to do anything you tell me to! I'm not one of your little mind-slaves or lackeys!”, she spat.

“There will come a night when you will do every little thing I tell you to do…”, he remarks, leaving the doorway and down the hall in the direction Vincent was dragged.

`Vincent…', she mentally worries, removing a bobby-pin from her hair, thrusting the end of it into the key-hole of the ancient shackles, fiddling around inside the lock until she heard a click and pulled the ring open, `Thank you grandmother!', she praises, kissing the pin before placing it back in her hair, “Now to find Vincent…”, she mutters.

-Another Basement Cell-

“Ah!”, Vincent painfully screams, as his bound wrists are forcefully pulled above his head by ropes being tugged taunt to the rafts over-head by the same three-vampires who had dragged him from Karin`s cell, putting strain on his wounds and causes some of them to reopen.

“Is he securely tied?”, Sephiroth asks, as he strolls into the room.

“He is tied up so well that he wouldn't get loose, not even if he was at full-strength”, one of the younger-vampires replies, jabbing the wound on the captured-man's abdomen, making him hiss in pain.

“Good, now leave us”, their Lord orders.

“As you command, my Lord”, the three say, bowing before they file out of the room.

“What the hell do you want now…?”, Vincent weakly grumbles, trying to look threatening.

“You are not going to get anywhere with that attitude…”, the undead-Lord chides, grabbing hold of the cursed-mortal's chin, digging his finger-nails into the flesh and forces his mouth open, “I see… So the rumor was true…”, he chuckles, as he examines the elongated-canines in his captive's mouth, “You do gain fangs every night…”

Vincent's body begins to shiver uncontrollably as he felt the throat-burning thirst for the life-sustaining liquid that would haunt his mind nightly, making him start panting for air.

“I have continually wonder what it feels like to be that thirsty every night”, Sephiroth comments, digging his nails further into Vincent's skin, drawing blood and making it run down his neck in tiny-streams.

“L-leave me alone…”, he pants, trying to avoid eye-contact with his sworn-foe.

“The curse gives you our strengths and our thirst…”, the vampire repeats, “But it also gives you some other annoying side-effects…”

“Huh…?”, the crimson-eyed man gasps.

“If I had known about these side-effects sooner, I wouldn't have inflicted you with the Curse of Eternal Blood-Lust…”, the silver-haired vampire scowls, “You see, the curse also makes you immune to being turned into a mind-slave; but I enjoy my meals to have some fight in them, the curse also prevents you from being put under my spell like your beloved Lucrecia was…”

“You bastard!”, Vincent snarls, fighting against his restraints with fangs bared, looking like a vicious guard-dog.

“And another side-effect of the curse is…”, he began, slicing his arm open and let's his blood flow freely, watching with glee as the angry look on Vincent's face pacify and he begins to stare hungrily at the fresh-blood, before thrusting the wound into his face and starts laughing at Vincent's internal-struggle to fight the urge to drink vampire-blood, surprisingly have more restraint against the thirst than he had before.

`I can never drink that blood! I'd rather live as a cursed-immortal than become a vampire!', he mentally screams, but the same consuming darkness that over-came him 300-years ago begun to take over, `No…No…No! Please no!', he silently begged, as he could feel himself beginning to lap up the Vampire-Lord's blood.

“The other side-effect is…”, the vampire repeats, gently lifting Vincent's face up to look into his failing vision, “That the curse prevents you from becoming a vampire, but our blood is also toxic to you…”, he adds, licking Vincent's blood from the wounds he inflicted and then begins licking his own blood that was still dripping off of Vincent's lips.

Unfortunately, Vincent didn't hear that last part as darkness had full influence over him, rendering him mentally-unconscious.

`Of course… There is another side-effect that I haven't seen since the first night I had cursed you, Vincent…', Sephiroth thinks, smirking as he leaves the room.

“Vincent…”, Karin whispers from the shadows, entering the room after Sephiroth vanishes into the shadows of the hallway, “Vincent…”, she mutters, as she unties the ropes that held him up-right and supports his trembling body on her shoulder, slowly she begun to drag him back to her cell, knowing that she had no chance to escape with Vincent passed-out.

But didn't mean she hadn't come up with a plan though, as she briefly touches the blood-red jewel-pendent that hung around her neck; hidden underneath her clothing, with a smirk on her face.
