Final Fantasy - All Series Fan Fiction ❯ Cross Sword x Lion ❯ Chapter 2
"Mr. President?"
Nothing.
"Sir?"
Still nothing.
Kiros sighed and absently brushed a small wrinkle from the full sleeve of the elaborate robe of state as he crossed the distance between the arched entrance and the president's desk. "Sir?" From the silence that answered his query, he would have thought the room to be empty except he knew the president's schedule by heart. He had a meeting in less than an hour and would be using this time to compose his thoughts and take a small break from his hectic agenda.
Besides...he could see the top of Laguna's head over the top of the high-backed chair and as Kiros neared the president, he became aware of the faint snores rising from the slumbering man.
He shook his head in affectionate amusement, the thick mass of his braids sliding against the russet cloth. "Laguna." A soft chuckle escaped him as his friend mumbled a sleepy protest and seemed to try to press further back into the chair as if seeking to escape being awakened. "If you had wanted to sleep, you should have found a better place to hide than in your office, Sir" He chuckled again as Laguna finally opened his eyes but his humor fell away when he saw the thinly veiled exhaustion behind his friend's as yet unfocused gaze. The normally clear eyes that seemed to mirror the ever changing blues and greens of the ocean were dulled and decidedly bloodshot. "Laguna...when *is* the last time you slept...you look like hell."
Kiros folded his arms across his chest, studying his friend his own eyes concerned and softening slightly as Laguna yawned and stretched. His hair was slightly tousled from his impromptu nap and watching Laguna moisten his lips sent a quicksilver bolt of desire dancing through his veins causing his body to stir in response to the innocent display.
'Damn...would have thought after all this time with him that I would have more control...' Kiros clenched his jaw, willing his body to calm enough that he could trust himself to speak again. 'He has never given me cause to think he's interested in men. This is so pathetic...I should just find somebody to share an evening with...he just yawns and all I can think about is his mouth and how it would feel...damn it!'
He watched Laguna rise to his feet and give him a distracted smile before moving to gaze out over Esthar, rubbing the back of his neck and moaning. Kiros had managed to calm his growing erection but that small sound hardened him to the point that his own nearly inaudible groan escaped his lips.
'Damn him.' Even as he cursed his friend and the object of his desire, Kiros let his eyes sweep Laguna, their dark depths warming in admiration and affection. The years had been kind to Laguna...while neither of them could be considered old, they were no longer teenagers, as was evident by Laguna's apparent stiffness from sleeping in the leather chair.
Still the man was too damn attractive for the sanity of his advisor and Kiros had moved before the thought had consciously entered his mind. He found himself standing behind Laguna, his hands gently kneading the president's shoulders, cursing himself this time for adding to his torment by standing so close to Laguna...close enough to catch the lingering scent of his aftershave.
'Sandalwood...what would he do if I buried my face in his hair and begged him to kiss me?' Somehow he managed to quell his impulse before he could take action but even so, his normally soft lyrical voice sounded strained to his own ears. "Better, Sir?"
His shoulders still ached, but those warm hands were causing him more tension than the gentle massage had relieved. As he turned away, moving back to his desk, Laguna found himself wondering what it would be like for those hands to touch him in other places and for far less platonic reasons. The result was a raging hard on and hands that trembled slightly as he reached for the report on his desk, barely able to focus on the words as he sensed Kiros moving closer to him.
Kiros resisted the urge to pull Laguna into his embrace, wanting to kiss away the stiffness he still saw in the set of his friend's shoulders, and merely followed the president's gaze to the report. "Ah...yes. We're still awaiting the final report of the quake that struck the Centra Islands but the initial details are all there. Your meeting with Odine in forty five minutes unless you want to reschedule. Although judging by how many times he's tried to contact me today, he'd most likely lead a full fledged assault on your office if you did. That man is incredibly annoying."
He chuckled softly and absently settled a hip against Laguna's desk, catching another faint touch of Laguna's favorite scent and making a soft appreciative noise before he caught himself and moved to stand a few feet away, clearing his throat slightly. "If you're that tired though Sir, you should really reschedule and try to get some sleep," ~'preferably in my bed'~ he thought as he continued.
"After all you won't be able to accomplish much if you start snoring during your meetings," ~'I would love to see your hair spilling across my pillow...why is it so hard for me to be near him today?!' ~ "and anything Odine has to say can wait until the morning." ~ 'I want to see the morning sunlight on your face and hold you...among other things'~
Kiros felt his body responding yet again to his own wayward thoughts and his lust combined with his concern for his friend, softening his voice to a gentle murmur that was thick with his emotions. "Please Laguna, I just want you to...what I mean is that you have to take care of yourself as well as governing Esthar. " He colored slightly and was thankful his complexion would hide the telltale sign as he cleared his throat again. ~'I'm acting like kid...what the hell is wrong with me today?' ~
Seifer sat up and watched him silently, his anger at Rinoa warring with his feelings for the young man dressing in the dark outfit. He stood up and ignored his own nudity as he crossed the short distance between them, knowing it was nothing compared to the distance his lover was now placing between their hearts. "Aisuru....please don't." The words were softly murmured but carried his pain, love and desire for his dark haired lover. "Please don't."
He moved behind Squall and reached out to touch his beloved's hair, his fingertips just grazing over the dark silk, his movements hesitant, as if afraid his touch would somehow shatter him. "You are my life..." As he spoke the words, his voice holding more reverence for his lover than any prayer, tears began to well up into his eyes, thickening his voice, "I would do anything for you....just don't pull away from me like this."
He bent down and picked up the black pants and the black and sliver vest running his fingers over the trim for a moment as he straightened up to hand them to him.
Seifer took his clothes from his lover and tightened his grip around them to hide the way his hand was trembling. Being so near to Squall and knowing that he was suffering in any way was a hell for the blond warrior...more so since he knew he had just managed to add to his lover's pain. "Forgive me, lion." A gentle smile curved his lips as he stepped closer to Squall, tilting the shorter man's face up and lowering his lips to hover just above his lover's sensuous mouth.
"Whatever happens, I'll always be here for you. If that means sharing you with that...with your wife...even that would not be too high a price to pay if it meant being by your side. You are my life...my very soul. I was nothing before you and should..." His voice broke slightly and he feathered a tender kiss to his beloved's mouth before continuing in a soft whisper, "...should I loose you, I would return to nothing once again."
Concern for his friend dimmed the mischievous glint in his eyes as he moved and put a hand on the young woman's shoulder, turning her to face him, cursing softly to see her red-rimmed eyes.
A short time later as he walked with a now calm Rinoa back towards the elevators, he sighed softly, wondering when he'd learn to mind his own damn business. He had known it to be a mistake the instant the words had left his mouth but by then it had been to late and he had been trapped by the gratitude in his friend's eyes when he offered to override the security system for her.
Squall was going to kill him, not to mention ensuring that he was never again placed in charge of something as important as overseeing the recent installation of the security system. 'Damn Squall, I hope you changed the master code...I should know better to get involved in marital problems.'
' Damn glad I'm still single...might not be so bad though, maybe it was an honest mistake and Squall doesn't know she's been locked out. It has been kinda glitchy lately' He sighed again and crossed his mental fingers as they stepped into the elevator again and he pressed the button for the third floor, interrupting the alert. "Dincht Zell, Head security protocol 6969-ME." He blushed slightly as Rinoa shot him a look and mumbled something about needing a code that he could remember before continuing.
"Security override for command floor and access seals, Dincht, Zell Identification number..." After rattling off a mind numbing string of codes, he waited all but praying that Squall had remembered to change the master code and then cursing softly as they were approved.
" Well...looks like its all yours, 'Noa...umm I'll be around." He pressed the button to open the doors and stepped out once he had detangled himself from Rinoa's grateful hug, "Say hi to...ummm...on second thought don't worry 'bout it." As soon as the doors slid shut Zell gently slapped his forehead with his palm and went to find the stairs, "Well nothing else can go wrong today."
He was wrong.
He saw a flash of yellow and his instincts screamed for him to run but he was too slow. Selphie grabbed him by the arm and began dragging him down the hallway, rattling off about the festival with her normal hyper enthusiasm. 'Why me...'
Seifer chuckled softly and stroked Squall's cheek with his fingertips. "Gomen, Watashi no raion." His fingertips brushed the warm satin of Squall's lips before he turned and began to dress, trembling from his need to posses his lover again. "You are wrong though, beloved...I am nothing without you. What would the moon be without the light of the sun?" He smiled as he knelt to retrieve his coat, just holding it in his arms as he turned his gaze back to Squall, love shining in his eyes. "If it offends you though, then perhaps like the moon, I would still exist without the light of your sun, but there would be no beauty and no light."
He stood then and slipped on his coat, letting the heavy fabric settle around his muscular frame and falling against his legs as he moved back to Squall. "Don't be angry, my lion...there's nothing that could please me more than to be a reflection of you. Your everything I could ever hope to be." Before Squall could protest his words, he leaned down to capture his love's velvety mouth with his own, his arms embracing the smaller man and holding him with the tender urgency of his raging emotions and desire. He broke the kiss to stare into his lover's eyes, the words whispered with the heartfelt reverence of a prayer to the deity he held in his arms, "I love you Squall, now and forever."
Squall stared at him for a moment before relaxing slightly and giving him a small slight smile. "Strange...I thought I was a reflection of you...or I wanted to be." He lifted his face back up towards Seifer's, lifting a gloved hand to pull the blond SeeD's head back down to claim another kiss from him.
