He had been running for gods who knew how long. His body was screaming in protest. The motorcycle had failed him, just as surely as he would fail. He couldn't keep this up for much longer, but if he failed now, he would be the cause of the innocent blond's demise as well. He would not be blamed for the blond. He would do everything he could to save the blond, to save his lover.
He would fall, because he wasn't invincible, but he wouldn't fall until he was sure Cloud was safe. He was too weak to do it on his own, too weak to move. The mako within the blond was freezing his limbs, draining his will to do anything. When he was used to it, Cloud would be stronger than normal, but until then, it was as if he were paralyzed. He was dead weight on Zack's shoulders, but he wouldn't drop him for anything. He wouldn't leave him behind.
So he talked, and he smiled. Because that was how Cloud knew him. That was what was expected of him. He was a prankster. He was never very serious, he couldn't be. If he were too serious, he would break.
“Cloud, remember when you joined up?” he asked softly, his deep voice rumbling in the quiet of the woods surrounding them. “You were so small and cute. It's why I wanted to get to know you. How could you want to be in SOLDIER when you were so innocent?”
Zack had smiled at the small blond and introduced himself. He was friendly and he wanted to get to know the pretty little blond a little bit more. He wasn't sure if it was good thing, or not, but he had to get to know the adorable little blond. When he met the blond, he'd had no idea that he would be like this. He had no idea he would be carrying the little blond to safety. He'd had no idea that he would…
He had betrayed his commander. He would never be allowed to return to SOLDIER, even if he wanted to. He wouldn't abandon the little blond on his shoulder, no matter what it would cost. He would never leave him. He was loyal and he was true and he would protect this small blond who had nothing else.
“Cloud?” Zack whispered softly. “I'm sorry babe, I've gotta stop,” he murmured.
Cloud did nothing more than groan in pain, he could nothing more than that. His thoughts weren't going to be shared. He didn't know what else to do. He just wanted to be left alone, his body heavy with the liquid flowing through him.
Zack closed his eyes as he shifted against the tree. He was hurting and he couldn't get over the pain he felt on his own. But he remembered the first time he'd gotten the mako treatments. He hadn't wanted to move for a week. But he'd gotten used to it. The generals had commanded him into action merely two days after he'd been treated. But with more treatments he had gotten used to the injections and he had gotten over the pain after a few treatments.
Cloud wasn't used to it though. He was a lost child, lost without hope. He hadn't even gotten a chance to learn what the mako would do to his body. He was still getting used to the poison flowing through his body. And it was paralyzing the small boy. He rested his head against the tree, closing his dark eyes and letting his mind flow back to happier times he'd shared with the pretty, unconscious boy in his lap.
Cloud was sweaty. His thin form arched as he stretched his back, trying to work off the stress of the long day of training he'd been subject to. Zack couldn't stop the appreciative staring he subjected his roommate to. He was handsome, he was sweaty, and he was there for the taking.
“Zack, did you miss me?” Cloud asked, teasing as he winked a blue eye.
“I always miss you,” Zack growled softly, standing. He moved in quick, smooth movements to cover the space between himself and the blond. As he moved, he shed clothing. “Now, what are you going to give me for making me wait?”
Cloud moaned softly as Zack's lips attacked him, not giving him the opportunity to answer. Zack's talented, powerful hands moved over Cloud's body, ridding him of clothing as he delved deeper into the blond's mouth. Clothes moved of their own accord, falling from Cloud's body. Zack's hands roamed the naked flesh, caressing it softly. He was horny and Cloud was horny and he wasn't going to stop for anything.
Shoving the smaller man against the door, Zack lifted Cloud's leg. With practiced ease, Zack slid a mysteriously moist finger into Cloud's puckered hole.
“H-how?” Cloud asked, arching into Zack's body. Without waiting for Cloud to adjust to the single finger, Zack slid a second finger in.
“I always have a little lube with me,” Zack teased. “For lucky little moments like these,” he nibbled on Cloud's ear.
Cloud couldn't speak anymore as a third finger shifted into his body. He could barely think straight, much less speak. He whimpered in pleasure and bucked his hips forward. With a breathy moan, he wrapped his arms around Zack's neck and moved against Zack's fingers. And when Zack pulled his fingers free, Cloud whimpered at the loss.
“Zack,” he whined softly.
“One minute, just give me a minute,” he answered, frustrated. Wrapping Cloud's leg around his waist, Zack used one hand to spread Cloud's cheeks and one to guide himself firmly into the tight opening.
Cloud arched against Zack, crying in painful pleasure at the feel. He tightened his grip on Zack and dug his nails into the sensitive flesh. Zack moved faster, pumping harder and quicker as he rapidly approached his own climax. Moving quicker, Zack moved his hand from Cloud's ass to his begging erection between their bodies. With quick, powerful thrusts, Cloud was swiftly brought to the edge of pleasure. Zack thrust deep within him, caressing Cloud's prostrate before the blond exploded, coating their stomachs with thick, hot, wasted seed. With quick, erratic thrusts, Zack soon followed, releasing within Cloud's canal.
“Gods above,” Cloud panted softly, leaning against the wall, supported only by Zack's powerful body.
Quirking a small smile, Zack winked and growled, “Wanna go again?”
“You were always so eager to please,” Zack chuckled softly, caressing the blond spikes fondly. Cloud didn't answer; merely fell more comfortably against Zack's body. He just wanted to die, but he couldn't. If he did, he would leave Zack alone and exiled, and he would never do that.
“When we get to Midgar, everything's going to be okay again,” Zack answered himself. “You'll get better, we'll find a good place to live and we'll have everything we'll ever need. You'll never work again, except in my bed,” he chuckled to himself. “All this fighting, we'll leave it all behind. You won't have to fight again. I know you don't like it.”
Cloud's body trembled with pain and something else. He couldn't move and he could barely think. Resting against Zack was all he could do. “Well, if I can do all this talking, I think I'm good enough to start walking again, don't you?” Zack asked.
Pulling Cloud's limp body up with him, Zack stood and began the trek towards town. He would have to carry Cloud the entire trip. He couldn't hang out in hiding in the woods with the entire army searching for him. In hindsight, maybe it hadn't been such a good idea to kill the assistant.
“Cloud, when we get there, let's get a motorcycle, okay?” Zack asked. He was frustrated. He couldn't think straight himself, having skipped out on his meal and taken off. He was weak- the chambers always did that to him. But he couldn't fall, not when another life depended so heavily on his own.
His eyes were hot with unshed tears. He didn't want to do this; he didn't want to be the one they all depended on. He was unreliable, he was child himself and he wanted to be held. But instead of being taken care of, he had to support the unconscious body of his fallen lover.
“Cloud, you've gotta wake up man. I know it hurts. I know it hurts like hell and I know you just want to die, but you can't do this to me. Wake up Cloud,” Zack ordered softly, his voice thick with tears he wouldn't shed. Thick with tears he would pointedly ignore cooling on his cheeks.
All Cloud did was groan in response. Zack tightened his arm around Cloud's waist and tried to speed up. “Come on babe, you and I've got a date with destiny. Hopefully, she ain't a bitch,” he chided, placing a kiss to Cloud's hot brow.
He dragged Cloud with him, pulling him through the woods. “Look what I found!” he exclaimed softly. “It's a road Cloud. I found a road. We'll take it to town and get you healed.”
Cloud groaned and shuddered in Zack's arms. With no warning, he collapsed to his knees, falling; it had to be painful, to the ground. His body shuddered before retching, trying to rid itself of the mako flowing through it. Zack was instantly on his knees, holding Cloud up, preventing the blond from choking to death on his own vomit. He was sympathetic; he understood the pain and the nausea that he had to be feeling. But he could do nothing for him.
When he'd started the mako treatments himself, he'd been sick quickly. He hadn't had the opportunity to rest, given but days to get used to it before being treated again. He was a token for the army and his quirky attitude and slight awkwardness made him a target. But he did remember when he was first being treated; the great Sephiroth himself had helped him through the first night. Zack had been treated with the mako before possibly being considered for promotion into SOLDIER, as everyone had been treated before being considered for SOLDIER. Zack had been okay with the mako, the poison that flowed through his veins hadn't bothered him too much after the first treatment. The first treatment had been horrible though. He'd been sick and shaky and weak. He'd trembled all evening long and when he thought he would die, Sephiroth had appeared, wrapping the other in warm arms and comforting murmurs.
“C'mon Cloud. You can't be sick. Not anymore,” Zack murmured, rubbing small circles on Cloud's thin back as he supported him with one arm. He hugged the blond close, wishing that he could take the pain away, wishing he could make it leave, hell; he'd take the pain himself, if it would just ease his lover's suffering.
When the trembling stopped, Zack wrapped his arms around Cloud's thin body- his too thin body. He was concerned about the poor blond, the thin blond who was sickly and lost within his mind and his body.
“Hey babe, let's hit that road and see where it takes us. We've got to keep them lost as long as we can. We can't stay here,” Zack whispered, hefting Cloud up once more. The blond moaned in pain, his thin body heavy and dead weight on his shoulder. “We'll get you somewhere you can rest. I know it hurts right now, but don't worry. It won't for much longer,” Zack promised.
An old, yellow, beat-up truck was kicking up dirt along the path. Zack's dark eyes lit up at the hope that flared in his chest. “Cloud, I hate to leave you here like this, but I'm going to get us a ride into town,” Zack whispered, settling Cloud back amongst the trees. “I'll be right back!” he yelled, hurrying to the road.
Cloud's blank green-blue eyes watched Zack's thin form heading to the truck, heading towards their destiny.
He would fall, because he wasn't invincible, but he wouldn't fall until he was sure Cloud was safe. He was too weak to do it on his own, too weak to move.
