Final Fantasy - All Series Fan Fiction ❯ Faded Hearts ❯ Prologue ( Chapter 1 )

Disclaimer: I don't own any of the FFVII Characters and such...so on and so forth. Square Enix all exclusively owns them.

Prologue

What makes a story great? Is it the story itself, the plot-line, the characters, or is it simply depending upon the viewer who is reading, or viewing the story? To me, what makes a story truly great is the ending, the opening may be perfect, the body, the essence may be incredible beyond any description, but still nonetheless, if the ending is imperfect, the entire story becomes pointless.

And as you can see, the story I am about to illustrate will hopefully create some kind of ending for one of the greatest games of all time, Final Fantasy VII. Note that in the end, we all saw the struggle between Meteor and Holy, the Lifestream coming to assist the ultimate white magic, the destruction of Midgar. And finally, the Ancient opening her eyes, but did it ever truly, totally provide an ending?(and yes I know about the up and coming Advent Children, those are the character models that I'm using. ^_^)

Reluctantly, I decided to give the game a more realistic aspect, as you will soon note, the lack of Magic Materia, Command Materia, Support Materia, and Independent alike, (Note I didn't say anything about summoning ^_^). Real time combat will replace turn based and so on. Healing items like Potions, Hi-Potions, X-Potions will still be used, but they will be given a magical aspect.

If you are a fan of the game, you basically know the characters, their strengths, weaknesses, mentally and physically. As well as their limits, which will not be used, (except for Vincent's just because he's that cool) for practical sakes. (C'mon, who could take on Final Heaven, or even worse, Omnislash, and live?) But for those who are new to the series, I will explain the major characters in the story, although not much of their pasts, as to that they will come into play more in the duration of the story.

The three major characters follows as thus:

1.)Cloud Strife: Strong, blonde spiky hair with luminous sapphire eyes, Cloud is the main hero of Final Fantasy VII. His main weapon is an immense broadsword, affectionately and fearfully called the "Buster Sword" by many ally and enemy alike. Unlike in the main game, however, he does have a secondary weapon, a short sword hidden in a long sleeve.

2.)Tifa Lockheart: Strong both physically and mentally, beautiful in both ways as well, with long dark brown hair and dark brown eyes, she is Cloud's best friend from childhood and forward. Loving him secretly, her main weapon is a leather glove, for she is an accomplished martial artist.

3.)Aerith Gainsborough: Yes for all of you Aerith haters out there, I am going to have her involved in the story, although whether major or minor, I have yet to decide. Dying in the main game, she was the last of the Ancients, a race long thought to have been extinct eons ago. With long light brown hair and curious aquamarine eyes, she wielded a staff as a weapon, like Tifa, she cared deeply for Cloud.

4.)Vincent Valentine: Easily in my opinion the coolest character in the series. His troubled, dark, and mysterious past led him to join Cloud and the others in the first game. His long black ragged hair and intense, piercing crimson eyes, with his looming height, he wields a simple revolver, with which he shoots with deadly accuracy.

The other main characters will be involved, yet only minor in comparison to those described above. Sorry to all those that are fans of those not told of above, these four are just simply my favorite characters.

Generally speaking, the story that you are about to read is a continuation of what immediately happens after the devastation that Holy and Meteor caused during the final moments of FFVII. So simply, I wish for you to read, review, do what you wish, but most of all, enjoy.
