"How long have you been awake , just standing there?" asked Rikku

"Longer than you."

"Then why didn't you say something sooner!"

"Where's the sense in panicking like a kid? Considering our current predicament
I'd say we need to keep clear heads."

"Er... what situation?" Yuna inquired, trying once again to move, again without
success.

"Umm, Yunie - have a look at yourself."

"Huh"

Yuna made a determined effort to shake the haziness that clouded her thoughts
and vision, after finally attaining clear vision she looked down at her body.

She found that she'd been tied to some kind of metal table, with strong powerful

From around the corner came a shadow, it's contorted shape sprawled over the
wall, dancing wildly as the flames of the torches dimly illuminated the room.
The footsteps grew closer with each second, serving as a build up to their
owner's entrance. An impressive figure wearing warriors helmet emerged from the
corridor, his light armour was concealed beneath numerous shrouds, which cover
much of his body. As he approached the cells Paine squinted to get a better look
at his face, but could only see his narrow eyes through the slit in his helmet.
Yuna could just make out the faint outline of his boots as he stopped outside
her cell. He paused, and then spoke calmly in a deep voice,

"So, you're finally awake."

The girls remained silent, the man moved further down the corridor, stopping
outside Paine's cell.

"...Unexpected." he mumbled, nodding slowly. "Red eyes? You are... Paine,
correct?"

Paine remained silent, eyeing her captor warily, trying to spot any possible
weaknesses under his shroud. She concluded that his stomach and groin were
definitely exposed, but the chest and leg areas were protected with armour.
While she was doing so the man spoke again,

"I expect you're wondering why you're here?" He spoke to all three girls.

"I've got a pretty good idea." Paine replied, trying to remain cool and

confident in the combat abilities she'd developed during her travels, "You've
made quite the mistake in letting me move around freely in here."

this, the man coolly approached her as she cautiously backed away, he made no
attempt to raise his fists to prevent an attack. The room was silent as each
waited to see what the other would do.

Suddenly her foot hit the wall and she realised she couldn't back up any
further, and taking her chance she propelled herself against the imposing
figure. The blow connected solidly with the man's stomach, and was followed by
Paine's knee connecting with his nuts. The man groaned loudly and stepped back,
then with unexpected speed grabbed Paine by the throat, lifting her cleanly off

"You stupid bitch," he breathed, still recovering from the last attack, "I
didn't leave you free to move around so you could attack me."

"I don't care... why you did it, what the fuck... do you want with us." Paine
struggled to breathe through the man's iron grip on her throat.

"Let Paine go!" shouted Rikku, who had a better view of the proceedings than
Yuna

"I left you free to partake in an... experiment I have arranged here. I'm sure

"There's the way out, you're free to try and escape. Who knows, you may even

Paine's resolve faltered at the man's words, he was holding all the cards right
