"For the third time, Aeris. Wake up!" Cloud banged on his daughter's door. Salira didn't answer. She placed her pillow over her head and moaned. Cloud heard it. "Okay that does it!" he yelled as he got ready to break the door, "On the count of three, I'm going to bust the door down. If you want to have a door to your room, you better open the door now!" Salira didn't move. "One…," Cloud started counting, "…Two…Three!" He took off with great speed and ran into the door. The first hinge broke off the door. Cloud did it again for the second time and successfully broke the door. The door fell with a big "THUD". Salira just pulled her blankets over herself. "GET UP, AERIS!" yelled Cloud, pulling the sheets off of the bed.
Salira sat up. "I want to sleep," said Salira. Cloud was going through her closet, looking for clothes. He threw a pair of pants and a shirt at Salira. Salira was too tired to catch the flying clothes, so the clothes hit her in the face. Since she was sitting at the edge of the bed and Cloud threw the clothes with a huge force, Salira fell, backwards, off the bed. "OW!" she yelped, as she stood up. She was wide-awake now. "That's what you get for not being awake. Now get dressed and meet me in the living room," said Cloud while he left the room.
Salira went to the bathroom to get dressed, brush her teeth, and comb her hair. After, she went back to her room, pulled out a pair of socks from her dresser, sat on her bed, grabbed her shoes, and put them on. On the way out, she grabbed her ring and put it on. When Salira entered the living room, Cloud was sitting on the couch with two very large swords next to him, waiting for her. Yuffie, one of Cloud's old friends and was visiting them, came in at the same time with three cups filled with water and placed the cups on the coffee table in front of the couch. Before Salira got to sit down, Yuffie hugged her. "Happy 13th birthday!" said Yuffie, excited. "If today's my birthday, why didn't I get to sleep longer?!" Salira said with sarcasm. She sat down on the couch next to her father. Yuffie handed Cloud and Salira each a cup of water. "Your father wanted you to learn something on your birthday, Salira," said Yuffie as she picked up her cup. Both her and Salira took a drink and placed their cups on the table. Cloud, without a drink, set his cup as well on the table.
"It better not be anything that has to do with school," remarked Salira. "Don't worry, Aeris. It's something that you would need to know," said Cloud as he stood up. Yuffie asked, "I was just wondering…Why do you call Salira, Aeris?" "Salira looks much like her to me, Yuffie. You do remember Aeris, don't you?" answered Cloud. Yuffie replied, "Was she the one who wears that pink dress?" "Yes, Yuffie. Anyway, Aeris, pick up this sword and follow me," Cloud said as he picked up a sword, about less then a foot of his height, and went outside. The sword was somewhat like a giant butcher knife to Salira, a very large butcher knife. Salira went to pick up the second sword, but Yuffie took it. "I'll give it to you once your outside. I don't want anything broken," said Yuffie, "Come on." Salira and Yuffie went out side as well.
Salira asked both Cloud and Yuffie when they were outside, "Why do you hold the sword with two hands instead of one?" Cloud forced the tip of the sword into the ground. "Yuffie give her the sword." Yuffie handed the giant sword to Salira. Salira grabbed the handle with one hand, and once she had a good grip on it, Yuffie let go. Salira fell on her knees immediately after because of the weight of the sword. Cloud smiled. "Oh now I see," said Salira as she let go of the handle and got up, "So…How do you hold this thing?" "Like this," answered Cloud, holding his sword upside down behind his back, "Or like this." This time he held out the huge sword directly in front of him with both hands and standing sideways, yet still facing Salira. Salira spent the next few months after school learning how to wield the large blade and learning a move called "Omislash".

After school, Salira reads one of her favorite books, Sword of Outcast, while walking home. Not paying any attention of what's in front of her, a man appeared out of nowhere up ahead. "Hello, my angel," the man said. So surprised from not noticing Salira dropped her book as she jumped. "Who…who are you?" she asked. "That's classified information," the man answered as he picked up the book Salira had dropped, "Sword of Outcast. One of my favorite books." The man handed the book to Salira. Salira took the book, frightened, from his hands. The man was about six feet tall and wore solid black. He had a long sleeve shirt- the collar went half way down the front of his shirt, showing the center of his chest-, long pants, and had long white hair. But what caught Salira's eye, was that the man had a black wing on his right side.
"What do you want from me?" demanded Salira, getting back to her senses. "Nothing much. I just want you to join something," the man answered. "To join what?" asked Salira. "SOLDIER, my dear," he said with a sweet voice. I've heard of the SOLDIER before, thought Salira. "No, I don't want to take any risks," Salira said as she walked past the man and left. The man turned to face her. You will join, my angel, he thought to himself, no matter what!
Salira opened the door to her house, and found her father leaning against the wall. "Why are you late?" Cloud asked while he looked at the ground. "I…I was talking to my friend," Salira answered; though she lied. Salira walked to her room and laid on her bed, looking up at the ceiling and wondering about what happened after school. Cloud knew what Salira answered wasn't the right answer. "What's wrong Cloud?" asked Yuffie, as she came in from the kitchen. "Something happened today, that Salira isn't telling me. Can you find out for me what happened?" answered Cloud, looking toward Salira's room as if he can see her through the walls. "Sure. I'll try to get the scoop about today," said Yuffie. She walked to Salira's room. Cloud, on the other hand, went outside to practice fighting with his large blade.
Yuffie knocked on Salira's door (they put in a new one). Salira sat up and answered, "Come in." Yuffie opened the door and walked in. After Yuffie shut the door, Salira asked, "What do you want?" "You look down. What's wrong?" Yuffie answered, sitting next to Salira.
"Nothing!" said Salira.
"I know something's wrong. You can tell me. I promise not to tell anyone, even your father," said Yuffie, trying to make Salira tell her what happened.
"You promise?" asked Salira.
"Promise. Now tell me what happened today."
"Some guy came up to me on the way home from school, and had asked me to join SOLDIER."
"What did he look like?" Yuffie had a funny feeling about this.
"Well he had long white hair and wore all black," Salira answered, trying to remember what the man looked like.
"Anything else. Like wings or something like that?" Yuffie knew whom she was talking about.
"If I remember correctly, he had a black wing."
Sephiroth, thought Yuffie. Yuffie checked her watch. "Well I better be making our dinner," said Yuffie. She left the room, shutting the door behind her, and headed toward the backyard instead of the kitchen. Once Yuffie left the room, Salira returned to looking at the ceiling.
"So what happened?" asked Cloud, still swinging his sword, once Yuffie came outside. "I promised I wouldn't tell," answered Yuffie, "But if you act like I never told you and you don't know about it, I'll tell."
"OK…whatever. Just tell me what's going on." Cloud stops swinging his sword and forces the tip into the ground. Yuffie hesitated trying to say what Salira had said, but in her own words, "How should I say this…um…well, Salira was walking home and someone came up to her and asked her to join a group."
"She could have told me that," replied Cloud.
"You don't understand, Cloud. The group was SOLDIER. And the way she described the person who asked her, it's as if Sephiroth's back!" Yuffie regretted the last two words she said.
"WHAT!" exclaimed Cloud, "I killed him before. He can't be alive!"
"Cloud, Sephiroth has powers not even the strongest mage can beat," Yuffie said, trying to calm down Cloud. Cloud leans on the nearest tree; Yuffie sat next to him.
"But if Sephiroth is alive…" Cloud said calmly.
"…Salira's gonna find out that she's a one-winged angel like you," Yuffie cutted in, "Very soon."
