Vincent wandered through the dark forest silently. Keeping his hand on his gun as if something were to attack at any moment, he advanced towards his target.

Something rustled in a nearby bush and he immediately turned, gun ready to shoot.

A squirrel ran out, looked and Vincent curiously and then continued on its way.

Vincent relaxed and holstered his gun. He'd been so tense lately. While everyone had gone back to the normal lives, he had nowhere to go back to.

He had tried going back to sleep in ShinRa mansion, but no matter what he tried he always remained restless and unnerved by something. He then decided to scout around and try to figure out what was making him so nervous, a looming threat in his mind.

Vincent looked around the forest in annoyance, as tedious as it was, he agreed to rid the nearby village of a monster that was plaguing them. His quest was steadily draining his pocket and he needed the money they were offering him.

He entered a clearing and immediately grabbed his gun again. There was something not right about this place, a familiar threat.

Perhaps this job would prove relevant to his search. Noting a slight trail that looked to have been made recently, he continued.

He saw something and crouched down to investigate. A human footprint, he looked at the rest of the path, they seem to have been running. The prints were fresh. He was close behind.

Vincent stood up and quickened his pace. He needed to hurry if his suspicions were correct. Soon he came across the cause of the tracks.

A young woman was being chased by a monstrous creature. One that Vincent knew as Jenova. He swore heavily under his breath. Jenova was alive. They had not destroyed it as they had previously thought. That was what making him anxious.

Using some materia his stored in his gun, Vincent created a barrier around the woman to keep her from harm before shooting Jenova.

Jenova gave an inhuman screech and disappeared in a flash of red light. Vincent put his gun away, slightly shocked at how easily Jenova went down. `Perhaps Sephiroth's death weakened it' Vincent thought, walking towards the woman. He looked her up and down, her messy light brown hair was cut chin length, and her bangs framed her face. Her pale blue eyes showed fear and uncertainty.

“Are you alright?” he asked coldly. The woman nodded, still shaken from the encounter. “May I ask what you are doing here?”

“I was passing through on a chocobo and was attacked by a monster,” The woman replied, calming down, “I fell of and my chocobo ran away. I chased after it for a while and was attacked by that...that…thing!” she shivered, “I wouldn't have entered the forest if I known about it.”

Vincent nodded and turned to go back to the village, “Come, I'll escort you out.” He started off.

The woman hesitated about following this cold strange man.

“Are you coming?” he asked, already several yards away.

“Uh….Yeah! Wait up!” She ran to catch up, “I'm Jerra by the way.” She introduced herself.

“Vincent,” Vincent replied coldly. Jerra nodded and decided that he didn't want to be talked to and followed him silently.
