Chapter 2 - unexpected visitors

A few days passed, while on the garden. The group spent most og the time remeniscing
about old times... and Zell tried to get some hot dogs...
...To no avail.

Squall woke up one morning and decided to visit the room Zell was staying in.
He knocked, but there was no answer. 'Strange...' he thought.
He then proceeded to go to Rinoa's room in the female dorms.
There was a note on the door saying 'Hi Squall. We've all gone to the cafe in Balamb.
Meet you there? Love Rinoa x'

'Oh great, they've gone without me' Squall said to himself.
So he walked out of the dorms, out out of the front gates. He stopped, turn round
and thought to himself 'I wonder if I shall see this place again?' he then walked into
Balamb town centre.

As he approached the pub, someone put their hands over his eyes and quietly muttered
'Guess who?'

Squall smiled at this, and turned round to find Rinoa standing there. She gave him a
short peck on the lips.

'Hey, the guys are waiting inside, come on!' and proceeded to run into the small Cafe.

Squall smiled to himself and thought 'Here we go again!'

He walked inside to find everyone sat at the table, including Rinoa.

Selphie, excited as usual shouted 'Squall! Come sit by me!'
Squall looked around for Rinoa, but the seats around her were taken. So, he
decided to get an espresso, and sat next to selphie.
The group sat in silence for about a minute before Squall said 'I guess we know why
we're here. It's just a matter of who wants to go first.'

Zell stood up and said 'I will! I'm staying right here, in Balamb. Ma got me a job as
a car engineer in the Rent-a-car garage. Not exactly dangerous, but, it's something to do'

'Since when did YOU know anything about cars?' enquired Quistis

'Since always!' Said Zell, feeling proud of this fact. 'I have natural talent doncha know!'

'I wouldn't say that Zell' said Quistis. 'So Seifer, what are you going to do?'

'Me? I'm staying in Balamb with Chicken-head. I just need some time to think things over.'

Selphie interrupted and said 'Well IM going to Winhill, if Irvy will come along?'

Selphie and Irvine had gotten pretty close over the past month. They were obviously
dating, but had never really said anything official. Everyone kinda guessed.

'Sure cowgirl!' Irvine said in reply.

'WOO-HOO!' said Selphie, excitedly. 'So what are you and Rinoa gonna do Squall?'

Squall thought about this. He realised him and Rinoa hadnt really talked about it.
'We've not really talked about it' he said.


'Well, theres no time like the present!' said Rinoa.

'Yeah guys, lets give these guys some room' said Zell, and with that, people said
their goodbyes, and left.

'See ya later, Squall!'

Squall and Rinoa decided to leave too. 'Lets find somewhere private' suggested Squall.
'How about the Inn?' replied Rinoa.

'Sounds great'

and with that they left for the Inn.

'Wow, this place has changed a bit' said Squall.
the Inn still had it's front desk, and stairs to the rooms on the left, but it had
be completely re-furnished and had a new coffee bar on the right hand side, behind the
check-in desk. The pair checked in, and decided to go and sit in the Coffee bar.
As they walked over, Squall noticed 2 people, a man, and a woman, in the corner.
They were wearing what looked to be Galbadian uniforms! 'What on earth are Galbadian
forces doing here?

he grabbed rinoa's hand and pulled her to a vacant table and held a menu up before his head.
Rinoa whispered 'Whats up?'

'Galbadian soldiers behind you'

'Galbadian soldiers!?' Rinoa said in surprise.

'What are they...'

'Shh' whispered Squall 'lets listen'

'I hate being on patrol' said the man at the table
'Me too. I hate that general Ishihara puts us on it. We're better than this!' replied the
woman.

'Tea or coffee?'

'What?' Squall said to the waiter.

'Would you like tea or coffee?'

'2 Coffee's, one black' Squall knew how rinoa liked her coffee.

'who are they?' said the man at the table

'Wait... I know them! That's Squall! And the sorceress!' the woman said.

'what should we do? They're not supposed to be here yet!'

'We gotta take them out. Remember to keep her alive.'

'Ok' said the man, and got up from his seat.

Squall saw this coming, and in one smooth motion stood up and drew his trusty Gunblade.

'no-one is taking anyone. Not if I can help it.'

'We'll see about that' replied the woman, while pulling her gun out of her holster.

The waiter got nervous, and hid behind his bar, shouting 'Take it outside! We've
just decorated!'

With that, Squall ran outside, and the Galbadian troops followed.
Squall held his gunblade out infront of him, pointed at them, and said 'Try me'

With that, Squall squatted down low, ran up to the male and made an upward slash to his
chest. It was too much for him to take, as his clothes were ripped and his chest had
a sizeable gash, no thicker than a papercut, but it was bleeding. He fell to the floor
in pain. The woman tried shooting at squall, but before she could, Rinoa's Valkyrie
hit her on the side of her head and forced her down.
All of a sudden she shouted 'Make a run for it, Trent!' and the pair got up
and ran as fast as they could towards Balamb docks. Squall and Rinoa chased after them,
but they got there just in time to see a small cruiser set sail.
Content they had chased the soldiers away, they made their way back to the Hotel.

Inside, the waiter greeted them. 'Hello!' he said 'That was remarkable! Those two were
giving me nothing but trouble. Please accept my thanks, and a free stay tonight'

'You hear that Squall? Free! Lets go! I want the honeymoon suite!'
And with that, they were handed their new keys, and walked upstairs.
