A strangled groan left Leon's throat as he opened his eyes. He looked around but saw nothing but blurred images of people standing around him because his eyes refused to focus. He tried to sit up, but a hand on his chest stopped him. As he lay there he realized that someone was holding his hand and looked over to see who it was, forcing his eyes to focus. He nearly choked on his own tongue when he realized it Seph, but he still managed a weak smile.
Seph smiled back and was about to say something, but was cut short when Leon sat bolt upright, dislodging the hand that had held him down.
When he sat up, the first words out of his mouth were, “Were is he?! Were the hell is Sinnew?!”
“Who the hell is Sinnew, ah? Besides, I think you should be more worried about reopening those wounds, but I guess after being out for three days you should have some energy.
The familiar voice of his father caused Leon to jump as his eyes found his father standing at the edge of the infirmary bed with a smile on his face and his Lionheart gunblade on his shoulder.
“You'll be more interested when I tell you who he is.” Leon replied.
Squall raised his eyebrows and said, “Oh really? Please, do continue.”
Leon looked Squall in the eyes with a serious look and said, “Sinnew is Seifer's son.”
Squall immediately lost all humor that he had had and said in a dangerous tone, “Is he the asshole that put you where you lay?”
“He is. But believe me, Father, his in the hospital too.” Leon replied.
Squall smiled and said, “I wouldn't have it any other way. I would'a kicked your ass myself if he did this to you and you didn't pay him back, but enough of this. You've earned this, son.”
When he finished speaking, Squall held Lion Heart out to Leon whom looked at it in awe. He held out his right hand, which was shaking, and took Lion Heart. As Leon inspected it, he cradled it like a baby, and then he remembered something and said, “Father, where's Quistis?”
“I don't know, she disappeared after the battle with Ultimecia, why?” Squall replied curiously.
“Because Sinnew was looking for her, I don't know why, but he was beating the shit out of the mayor trying to find out where she is.” Leon said.
Squall stood there for a moment, thinking, and said, “I can't think of any reason why he would be looking for her, but right now you need to get better. Seen you when you get out.”
As Squall left the room, Zell entered, smiling, and said, “Congrats! I heard that you were made a Rank A SEED. That's one hell of a feat, walking straight out of the SEED Exam with the highest rank you can get without being the Commander.”
Leon smiled and said, “I haven't gotten my scores yet, but from the way you're talking, I did pretty damn good.”
Zell smiled and replied, “Well, I guess I need to let you two alone so that I don't see Seph bless you out for almost dieing.”
As Zell finished talking, he smiled and walked out. When the door shut behind him Leon cautiously looked at Seph and tried to read her face. The whole time she had never let go of his hand, and until this moment he never knew how deep his feelings for her actually went. Seph felt the same as he drifted asleep with happiness, love and anger overwhelming him.
Darkness consumed Leon until a figure appeared in the distance. The figure was tall and bulky and in his right hand was a long sword but it wasn't the conventional sword, it was a gunblade. The figure approached Leon coved in black except the blade. Leon was standing their when the figure said “Your strong like your father, I admire that. Tell your father that I know where Quistis is and that if he wants to find her, to meet me at the place he promised to meet Rinoa if they were separated.”
Leon with a look if utter confusion, cocked his head and asked “Who are you and how do you know my father?”
Leon's words must have meant nothing because the figure turned and walked into the black abyss of his mind. Leon, standing their in confusion, yelled “Who the Fuck are you?!” their was an echo and then a loud noise, which sounded like a gunshot but then again most things do in battle. After a few seconds went by Leon felt a sharp pain in his side. When he looked down he saw that it was bleeding and his hand was covered in blood from were he had grabbed the wound. As Leon began to feel the effects of shock and slowly fell to his knees in pain holding the wound. When Leon looked up he noticed a figure standing above him wit it'sh the blade covered in blood, his blood.
“What…..What..” coughing up blood he finished the sentence. “How did you do this? I never saw you!” said Leon.
The figure suddenly changed shape, melting into a figure on horse back holding a sword, but not an ordinary sword, he was holding the Zantetsuken. The creature replied “I am Gilgamesh, The Great. Since Ultimecia was killed we, the Guardian Force, have taken form in humans to ensure our survival. You can think of us as the little voice in the back of your head that tells you what to do and not to do.” A moment of silence passes before Gilgamesh leans over and touches Leon on his shoulder. “I see, you also have one of the Guardian Forces within you.” As Gilgamesh concentrated harder, he began to feel the Guardian's energy. A sudden pulse of energy erupted from Leon, hitting Gilgamesh like a title wave, knocking him back. “What….What in the hell….. No it can't be….. I killed you….. You're….you're… DEAD.” Gilgamesh jumped to his feet and charged Leon, but before Leon could react, he felt a strang energy overwhelm him, as he changed into a creature welding the Zantetsuken. Gilgamesh stoped dead in his tracks as this figure appeared and said “But how, I've got the sword now, there's no way you can have it too!”
“Apparently you're not very good at keeping what's mine.” Replied the figure
“But I killed you how are you still alive?!” replies Gilgamesh in a furious roar.
“Hahaha…hmhmhm…You crack me up, Gilgamesh. You? Kill me? HA! You do realize that Ultimecia is still alive, don't you? When she supposedly died, us, the Guardian Forces, took an alternate means of survival. When her energy was released, we were gravely injured so we now dwell in the humans that used to depend on us for protection. Now we depend on them.” The figure replied.
“You think I don't know that already?! An explanation of what I already know doesn't tell me how you're alive!” Gilgamesh replied.
“My soul still dwelt in this world when she was defeated, and I realized that the person that relied on me had a lover, and she was with child. I knew this child would a strong and valuable asset, so I incarnated myself in this child, and until now, I laid dormant.” The figure said with a smile.
“If I didn't finish you then I'll finish you now, Odin! DIE!” With his last word Gilgamesh charged Odin.
As Gilgamesh lifted his sword to strike Odin's head, Odin crouched stepped to the left, and as Gilgamesh came down, Odin took his sword and cut a deep wound across his stomach. The wound made Gilgamesh fall to his knees allowing Odin to come in for the final blow. Blade held high, Odin swung for his head. When his sword should have connected with his head, his sword bounced off. All Odin had time to do was say, “Wake up, boy. Quickly, or we're both dead!”
“Leon, wake up, Leon…” said a sweet caring voice.
Leon woke up in the infirmary for the second time with Seph wiping the sweet from his forehead. Leon sat straight up yelling “Gilgamesh!” Seph immediately put her hand on his chest and forced him to lay back down. He tried to resist, but a sharp pain in his side and back caused him to fail. As he lay there he said, “Seph, check my back for me.”
Seph helped him sit up and lifted his gown up. What she saw caused her to gasp in surprise. “What happened, this wasn't there when I was helping change you out of your cloths, I…” She had been about to say more, but both her and Leon had gone scarlet.
“You…..saw…. me…… n-n-naked?” replied Leon in a embarrassed and oddly subdued voice. “Ahhh… never mind where's father and Zell, I need to speak with them.”
Leon tried to get up but the pain from is back and his side prevented this normal task.
“Just lay there, I'll get them.” Seph said putting her hand on his chest preventing him from trying again.
Leon waited for Seph to return for ten minutes before deciding to go look for them himself. He stiffly rose out of bed, his back and side racking him with pain as he walked over to the door. Before he reached for the door knob, he realized that Dr. Kadowaki would stop him. Normally he'd go out the window like he always did when he was in the infirmary whenever he was sick, but he wasn't sick this time, his wounds preventing his normal antics. As he stood there pondering what to do, he heard someone walk in and start talking to Kadowaki. When the talking stopped, he cracked the door open and peeked out. Seeing no one in the room, he stepped out and shut the door behind him. As he walked around the pain started to subside to a dull ache, that bearable pain but constantly wearing you down.
As he walked he cursed himself for not asking Seph where they had gone. As he walked around garden looking for Zell and Squall, he caught a glimpse of Seph walking toward the infirmary. He knew that he should have been worried that she would find him gone, but he wasn't. The only thing that registered was that she was alone.
He knew that she would have looked every where that they would have been in the time that she had been gone, every where except one place.
Leon walked with a determined air about him so that nobody would attempt to stop him, and just for good measure, he walked with his head held high and straight backed. When he was about to walk into the training center, he looked to his left for whatever reason and saw Seph walking out of the infirmary with an extremely pissed off look on her face. Right when he was about to walk into the training center, she looked right at him. When he saw the look on her face, he broke into a dead run, aiming for the hidden area where people go after curfew to meet each other. As he ran the pain in his side and back went from a dull throb to a searing pain that had him gasping for air.
When he reached the hidden area, he halted in his tracks. Facing him, so close that their noses almost touched, was his father and Zell, both with a curious, yet serious look on their faces.
“I would ask why, but not how because somehow you always manage, but by the look of things you wouldn't be able to answer.” Squall said, raising his eyebrows.
Panting for air, wondering if he was going to suffocate to death, Leon said, “F-Father, I n-need to talk to y-you and Z-Zell.”
“Well, to start things off, I suggest that you catch your breath so that you can talk.” Squall replied in a serious yet concerned voice.

Leon stood there hunched over for a few minutes before he spoke again, “I had a dream father, it was about these two things call ummm…….:” Leon thought for a second then said, “they were called Guardian Forces I think, ones name was Gilgamesh and the other was Odin.” Leon rambled on for a few more words before Squall interrupted him saying “Wait, wait, did you just say Guardian Forces and that the two were called Gilgamesh and Odin?!”
“Umm... Yes father I did.” Leon replied with a look of curiosity on his face.
Before either could continue they heard a yell come from behind Leon.
“LEON!! WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING OUT OF BED?!” yelled Seph in an enraged tone that made Leon nearly shit himself.
“Well, I, uh….” Leon stammered as he tried to come up with an explanation.
“Uh-oh, getting scolded by the old lady are we, Leon?” Zell said sarcastically.
“You shut up, Father.” Seph said icily.
“Seph, be quiet.” Squall said.

“What-.” Before she could finish the witty comment that had been on the tip of her tongue, Squall cut her off with a wave of his hand and said, “Leon, tell me what happened.”
Leon told his father what had happened during his dream, leaving out no details. As he stood there judging his father's reaction, he started swaying, and would have fallen backwards had Seph not caught him. Leon looked down at Seph, whom was looking up at him with the utmost concern; Leon smiled and said, “I'm fine, Seph, just a little light headed, that's all.”
Ignoring his protests, Seph forced Leon to sit down, and seated herself behind him, making him lean against her like a chair. Instead of arguing with her, he subsided and relaxed into her. Though Leon didn't see it, a look of utter peace and happiness crossed her face, and she wrapped her arms around him, and rested her chin on his right shoulder.
Zell crossed his arms and leaned to his left, tilting his head and smiled wickedly and said, “Awwww, look at the love birds. No inappropriate actions in front of the daddies.”
Seph looked up at her father with a death glare and said, “Shut the hell up… daddy.”
Zell roared with laughter, hitting his knees and banging his fists on the ground.
Squall shook his head and said, “Even in a serious situation, you still find time to joke around. Come on Zell, we have to discuss this with the others. Seph, take Leon to his room, he's healed enough that he doesn't have to be in the infirmary any more.”
With that, Squall and Zell walked away, leaving the training center.
As they walked away, Leon said, “Father, what does this dream mean?”
Squall turned around and said, “I don't know yet, but since you're directly involved I promise I'll tell as soon as I do.”
When he finished talking, he turned and walked away.
Seph helped Leon to his feet and said, “I should kick your ass for leaving the infirmary like that, you know.”
Leon smiled at her sweetly, trying his damndist to make her lose her bad mood, and said, “You're probably right, but you love me too much to do that to me, don't you?”
Seph looked at him with squinted eyes and said, “Maybe, but that's the reason that I make sure you don't do stupid things, and I usually make sure by force.”
Leon couldn't help but to laugh when he thought about how she had always beat the shit out of him whenever he got in trouble. His laugh turned into a groan as his side burst into pain, and he said through gritted teeth, “I need to go get my sword from the infirmary.”
As he finished speaking, they started walking towards the exit. When they reached the exit, Leon turned towards the infirmary, but before he could take a single step, Seph had him by the elbow and was guiding him towards his room.
Seph looked at him with that stern glare that always made him cringe, and said, “You're going to bed, just like your father told you too.”
Leon chuckled, schooling himself not to burst out in laughter, to avoid unnecessary pain, and said, “Since when have I listened to my father?”
“Never, but your listening to me, especially since you're my boyfriend.” Seph replied looking him full in the eyes.
When she said this, Leon choked on his on spit, and said, “W-What? Since when?”
Seph raised an eyebrow and said, “What are you trying to say? You don't like me?”
Leon tripped over his own feet and was forced to stop walking to regain his balance, and said, “That's not what I meant, I'm fine with it, but you surprised the hell out of me, I mean you never asked and neither did I.”
Seph smiled at him sweetly and said, “I'll get your sword, you go ahead to your room.”
“Ok, see you in a minute.” Leon replied.
Leon was in his room for about five minutes when Seph came back with his sword. She leaned the sword against the wall, walked over to the bed, and sat down beside Leon.
Wrapping her arm around his waist, she said, “Get some rest, I'll see you in the morning.”
“Ok, sweet dreams,…….. Honey.” Leon replied in a joking manner but his eyes spoke other wise.
Seph started to get up, paused, leaned over, and kissed him on the cheek.
When the door shut behind her, Leon realized that he was bright red, and thought to himself as he drifted off to sleep, Well, at least one good event came of me getting my ass kicked.
Leon was standing on an endless plain. He looked around and saw nothing. Deciding to wonder around, he started walking to his right. He had been walking for about five minutes when someone spoke.
“Where's Odin boy? We have some unfinished business.”
Leon wheeled around and instinctively drew his sword from his side. He nearly threw Lionheart from his hands as he was expecting the weight of his old blade, but easily regained himself.
“I don't know. But even if I did, I wouldn't tell you, Gilgamesh.” Leon replied, readying his blade.
Gilgamesh roared with laughter, and said, “You can't even wield your blade, boy. How do you expect to defeat me? Bring out Odin!”
“The only way he's coming out is if he has to. Now come at me.” Leon said dangerously.
Without a word, Gilgamesh drew his sword, still wondering how Odin had the Zantetsuken as well as himself, and charged. Leon knew that this was a dream, but he also knew from past experience that he could die in this world, so he fought his best. He and Gilgamesh danced their blades, sparks flying with every parried blow. Save kicks and punches, neither had landed a blow on the other.
When an hour of this had passed, Leon stood there, arms leaden from swinging his sword, legs like rubber from dancing for so long.
Gilgamesh smiled and said, “Your good, boy, I'll give you that, but you're ten years to early to defeat me.”
Gilgamesh smiled, and charged again, his endurance seemingly unaffected. With a furious roar, Leon charged, when Gilgamesh's sword started to come down, Leon mustered the last of his strength, parried into the air, swinging his sword in a circle, and came up on Gilgamesh's side, launching him into the. When Gilgamesh reached his peach of ascent, which was about ten feet high, Leon jumped into the air, and with a series of intricate blows, proceeded to beat the shit out of Gilgamesh. After the first hit, Gilgamesh balled up, protecting his head.
When the attack was over, Gilgamesh slammed into the ground, dust rising up all around him. Leon stood there, thinking himself the victor, and looked down to fresh blood on him from his old wounds being reopened, when he heard a furious below emit from Gilgamesh. Leon stood there, staring in horror as he realized that Gilgamesh had not a cut on his body, though he had bruises aplenty.
“Gilgamesh stood there, shaking with fury, and said, “The only man that has ever pummeled me like that was Odin, but no man has EVER forced me to ball up like a child! I”LL KILL YOU!”
Gilgamesh's blade flew to his hand, and in an instant, he was upon Leon. As he saw his life flash before his eyes, and he thought that he was dead, Odin had come forth. Odin smiled, and said, “Time to wake up, boy, no, a man should not be called by that title. It's time to wake up, Leon.”
As the dream started to fade out, Leon heard in the back of his head, You did well, Leon. I am honored to call you master.
Leon woke with a groan, every muscle in his body sore. He rose out of bed, wearing nothing but his underwear, and realized what had woken him. Seph was standing in the door, jaw hanging open, staring at his body. With a yelp, Leon threw the covers over his body and sat there, silent from embarrassment.
Seph looked at him with concern in her eyes, seemingly oblivious to what she had just saw, and said, “Your bandages have fresh blood on them, what did you do, through yourself off your bed?”
Before he could react, Seph had walked over to him, thrown the covers back, and was taking his bandages off. She hissed when she saw that only his minor wounds had remained closed. She looked at him accusingly and was about to bless him out, when Leon said, “Hay, don't look at me, blame Gilgamesh.”
Seph sat there looking him in the eyes, and said, “I can read you like a book, Leon, and so I ask, what happened? Did you have another dream?”
The look of concern and worry on her face, made him silently vow to not tell her of his dreams unless it was absolutely necessary, so that she wouldn't worry.
