Tidus: Why are they going to kill you?

Well, not kill; just maim for the way this chapter is going to end.

Hotohori: Not if I have anything to do about it.

No you don't there Hori. We don't need anymore swords floating around here.. *Takes sword from Hotohori. *

Tidus: Who did what to the who now?

Never mind, I'll explain later.

Rikku sat on the temple steps, watching the hustle quietly. She was watching the proceedings of Besaid's annual Calm celebration. It was the annual celebration of the final defeat of Sin and the bringing of the eternal Calm. She enjoyed the festivities every year, but this year something seemed out of place.

"Are you ok?" The Al-Bhed looked up to see Yuna standing above her.

"Yeah, I guess," she replied halfheartedly. "It's just that something seems out of place."

"Like?" the summoner replied sitting down next to her.

"Well…it's just…. Have you ever had that funny feeling that something is gonna happen?" Yuna nodded. "That's what I've had all week and it's been significantly worse today."

"Really?"

"Yes and it's really beginning to bother me."

"Don't worry about it, it's probably nothing."

"Yeah, but the guy…" She stopped short suddenly.

"What guy?" Rikku didn't respond. "What guy?" The Al-Bhed still didn't reply. "Rikku?"

"The guy in the red cloak," she replied quietly. "I've been seeing him around lately and I keep getting funny vibes off of him."

"Like…?"

"It's like I know him from somewhere, but I just can't place WHERE."

"So I'm not the only one getting that vibe off of him?"

"I guess not." Rikku sighed; this situation was grinding at her nerves and yet there was nothing she could do about it. "What do you think we should do?"

"I don't know. Wakka thinks we should catch this guy and try to weasel some answers out of him."

"That wouldn't get us anywhere."

"That's what I told him. I figure the less confrontational we are, the more open he'll be."

"I sure hope so Yuna, I sure hope so." The pair sat in silence for a few moments. "Were they calling for a meteor shower tonight?" Yuna stared at Rikku.

"Not that I know of, why?"

"If there isn't a meteor shower, then what are those?" Yuna looked up to see thousands of small, shining objects floating down from the sky.

"I don't know." The pair continued to watch the objects float towards the ground. "Do you think they're dangerous?"

'SHIT!' Yuna turned her head to Rikku.

"Did you just say something?"

"No, why?"

"I heard someone say shit."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, it was as clear as a bell." The pair scanned the area, looking for the source of the talking. Yuna gasped when she saw him. Rikku turned to see what Yuna was looking at. The man stood there, a shining object floating on his fingertip. The black leather of his top and shorts glistened in the pale light of the fire. He stared intently at the blue dot at the end of his finger, as if he was trying to figure out what it was. The man growled, staring at Yuna and then looked like he had come across a revelation. He tore off to Yuna's hut and returned with Nirvana clasped in his hands. He returned to the summoning circle and began to swing the staff over his head. He slammed the end into the ground and the small objects stopped falling. He unsheathed his sword. He uttered a few silent words and hefted the blade skywards. The gentle glimmer of the fire caught on the blade, casting a gentle sheen across the darkened ground. He swung the blade out in front of him, making it parallel to the ground. A few of the objects floated down to meet it and danced around the blade. He spun in a circle, returning to his original position, gathering more of the objects in the process. He slammed the blade into the ground, sending the objects flying away from him. He raised the blade once again and swung it over his head, spinning around in a circle. When he stopped, the are had cleared of the glittering spheres. The man hefted his sword and walked out of the small village, past Yuna and Rikku. The two women turned and stared at each other. They then turned back to stare at Nirvana still stuck in the ground.

"What was that about?" Rikku questioned.

"I don't know, but I don't like the looks of it," Yuna replied.

"What's goin over here?" The pair looked up to see Wakka approaching.

"Were not entirely sure," Rikku replied. Wakka walked over to Nirvana.

"And this?"

"It goes along with the situation," Yuna replied. Wakka leaned foreword to pull the staff out of the ground.

'STOP!' Wakka shot upright when he heard the voice ring in his ears. 'If you value your life and well being, you will leave that staff alone!' Wakka turned to see the blonde coming out of the brush, his sword wielded. Wakka stared at the blonde.

"Where do you get off telling me what to do?" he growled.

'I am the one with the sword…' Yuna stared at the man; she had heard the entire conversation, but the man hadn't uttered a single word. 'And the one in control of the aeon.' The dragon slowly emerged from the shadows. The beast loomed over Wakka's head. 'Now leave the staff ALONE!' Wakka edged away from the staff. The dragon shifted its gaze from the redhead to the blonde.

"Did you get him?" it questioned.

'No, he got away too quickly.'

"Well at least you save them."

'I know, but he still got some of them.'

"It doesn't matter now, well will send them back soon."

'I know, I wish I could have done something sooner. But there is nothing I can do now.'

"Yes, there is. You need to sit, you are bleeding."

'It is nothing.'

"Nothing my scaly butt. We've had this discussion before; you are NOT going to win." The man stared at him. "Sit down or be torched." The man didn't move. "I'm warning you."

"I hate to interrupt," Wakka started. "But what is going on here?"

"My summoner is acting like a child."

'AM NOT!'

"Quite frankly, you might as well still be a child!"

'TAKE THAT BACK!'

"Would someone care to clue in the clueless?" Rikku asked. The dragon turned his gaze from his summoner to Yuna and her guardians.

"I'm sorry. We have been through much." The dragon stood, walked over to where his summoner now sat, and sat down behind him, his long front legs extending in front of the man. "I apologize for the lack of vocalization by my summoner. He came upon and unfortunate turn of events and has lost the ability to speak."

"So he speaks telepathically then?" Lulu asked.

"Yes."

"Why are you here?" Yuna asked.

"Have you heard of "The Prophecy of the Fayths?"

"Yes."

"We are here to fulfill it. We are the 'Two will be thrust from their heavenly home.'" The group stared at him blankly. "You've never heard the beginning of the prophecy, have you?" No one answered. "It goes: In a land far away, three kindred souls reunite and prepare for themselves for the ultimate fight. The one with scorn in his heart tears away, learning to trust again another day. A great battle then ensues, everyone without knowledge of what to do. Then one enters, showing his dignity and might, Leaving after loosing a gift and gaining a plight. The guardians will be then summoned, their place set, And a summoner is chosen, his life in debt By the ones he suffered for, The ones who remain in his heart forever more. Two will be thrust from their heavenly home, The third to be summoned on a date unknown. The white man and black dragon fall from the sky Making their one observer wonder who and why. The rest you should know." Wakka stared at the dragon blankly.

"Why does that sound familiar?" he mumbled.

"You know it?"

"It sounds like the life of someone I know, or at least, I knew." The dragon stared down at Wakka.

"Not all hope is lost. He may return to you yet."

"How do you know this..?"

"If you must call me something, call me Jheson."

"That's an odd name."

"I'm an odd creature."

"Why are you here?"

"To protect…. My summoner. He calls, I come to help."

"But how do you know of who Wakka speaks of?" Lulu asked.

"Because I…" He stared at Wakka. "Are you ok?"

"Yeah," he replied. "I think I finally got the prophecy, but I don't want to believe it. He was a dream of the Fayth; he disappeared. How can he be back?"

"That is compli..." The aeon reeled.

"What? What's the matter?"

"Something has gone wrong." The beast looked down; his summoner had gone pale. "Shit, his wound!" The beast stared down at the man. "Please, he can't be. If he's gone while the lock is in place, I'll be stuck for all of eternity. TIDUS? TIDUS ANSWER ME!" The others reeled; no one had seen it coming.

He struggled against the blackness that had overwhelmed him. He vaguely heard someone call his name, but he couldn't respond. 'I'm sorry my father. I have failed you.' Out of nowhere, a white light overtook the area. A soothing voice entered his head.

"It is not your time yet, young one. You must return to help them." He nodded and turned to the light; he was going back.

DONE! Took me long enough too…

Jecht: Well worth the wait though.

Yep

Jecht: Now where do we go?

Well, he's gotta stir up some trouble first.

J: FUN. I CAN'T WAIT!

You need to learn to lie better.

J: Was it that bad?

Yes.

J: Damn.
