Chapter 7: "Denial" (by Ozzy Osborne)

~*~*~*~

The General watched the screen.

“Any movement?" he asked.

“Not since she retrieved a bunch of passwords," the private reported and the General ground his teeth, his blue eyes flashing menacingly in the computer screen illuminated room.

“Damn her," he growled. “She’s on to us."

“What should we do?" the private asked.

“If Muhammad doesn’t come to the mountain, you bring the mountain to Muhammad," the General snapped before marching off.

“Sam Sammy Sammmmmmmy! SAM!"

J'dee looked over at her store manager. New promotion meant new role to get used to.

She watched her 3IC let out a sigh and his head dropped.

“You were watching Supernatural reruns again last night weren't you?" Sam sighed.

“Yeeeeah it's awesome." Her manager replied rubbing his beard thoughtfully

J'dee snerked and shook her head as she taped up the marketing from where she stood on the chair.

She stopped and looked at her manager as he shuffled next to her looking at her eye to eye.

“Soooo I guess I'll have to do the pelmet banner then?" J'dee knew the jab at her height instantly.

He jumped out of her swinging range so he wouldn't get hit with a fist.

“Why are we stuck working and you're not doing anything?" Sam complained.

“Because."

“Because why?" Sam replied.

“Because I'm the boss and I'm awesome."

J'dee shook her head.

Then her manager motioned at the marketing she was taping up.

“Sammy look 360 price drop again. It's out of date and cheap!"

J'dee let out a breath as Sam pointed at him.

“Don't even go there man. It's an awesome console."

“It's a fail console." Her manager retorted. “PS3 sooooo much better."

“Nah man Halo, Gears, Forza original Mass Effect! They're awesome games."

J'dee decided then to focus on the loop DVD instead of their taunts back and forward.

It was going to be a long ass shift especially when they had to do a marketing swap over for the month's sales.

“Where's J'dee?" Belle asked, as she entered the kitchen. Tobias looked up from his breakfast as Kaidan came in behind Belle to pour a bowl of cereal.

“She's got the morning shift today. How's the burn? Is it getting any better since last week?" Tobias asked. Belle wrinkled her nose as she finished pouring her hot chocolate.

“It'll be fine. That Cure spell Yuna used sped up the healing but its still tender." Belle said, taking a sip from her cup.

“I thought Cure spells fixed almost anything." Tobias mused.

“Cure spells aren't perfect." Yuna explained, entering the kitchen. She put a few pieces of bread in the toaster. “Cure spells are for minor wounds and just speed up the healing to stop bleeding and infection. Cura spells are more for mending broken bones and major wounds. A broken bone is healed but its tender for a few hours. Curaga spells are for life threatening wounds. I had to have one used when I took a spear to the chest."

“Seriously?" Belle asked. Tobias blinked himself.

“Completely." Yuna said, getting her toast when it popped up. She continued as she put butter and jelly on them. “I was able to get back up and move around but it hurt to breathe for a few days after that. Anyways my point is Cure spells aren't perfect, they don't fix everything. That's why we have Ensuna and potions to cure things like Darkness and Petrify."

“That's also true for our spells." Rufus said, coming into the kitchen. As Yuna munched away on her breakfast Rufus picked up where she left off. “It's why we still have hospitals and things. Not everyone is adept at using mana and it doesn't cure all ills."

“Sounds a lot like medi-gel." Kaidan noted from where he was sitting next to Tobias. “I'd like to hear more about it."

“And on that note I gotta go. Work calls." Belle said, finishing her hot chocolate.

“Have fun. I have some one coming over to look over the Dodge Neon. If I'm lucky I'll get five hundred for it." Tobias said. Belle shook her head.

“Good luck with that then."

~*~*~*~

Belle was looking at her burn. The skin was shiny, but not the bright red it had been after Yuna had first used her Cure.

“That looks pretty good," Kaidan said and Belle nodded as she ran a finger over it.

“It is a little tender to the touch, but it doesn’t bother me very much," Belle stated.

“So when do you think you will be ready for taking me on?" he asked and Belle gave him a look. “That came out sounding like a line."

“Just a little bit," Belle said, a smile sliding onto her lips. Kaidan blushed slightly.

“So when do you think you could handle hand-to-hand practice with me?" he asked and Belle grinned.

“I don’t know if I want your hands anywhere on my person," she teased and he laughed.

“I’ll try to avoid making those kinds of comments again," he replied and Belle shook her head.

“To be honest, I’m not offended, it was funny," she stated as she headed out.

~*~*~*~

J'dee stepped into her room, she let out a breath at the mess. She really hadn't had a chance to clean it since the incident with Rufus the night before last. She had been out and about since then, she just came home and crashed out after without cleaning.

Looking round the mess she knew she would have to clean it up. She really didn't want to be reminded of her single moment of weakness.

She dropped her bag on the computer chair and walked up to the desk. She turned on her laptop and plugged it into her stereo for some music to work to the clean up with.

J'dee hit play and turned the music up. 'Love is blindless' the Jack White cover blared from her speakers. She began to pick up the art supplies and scattered papers from the ground. She could feel her cheeks heating up knowing why they were like this.

It was going to be difficult to face Rufus for a couple of weeks she knew that.

Especially as long as the memories were freshly implanted there.

"If anyone should own this body it should be me." Rufus' words had been like a taunt.

He had let her go and she had turned round to look up at him.

"You're an asshole." She had growled at him pissed off at his statement. No one owned her. She was her own goddamn property.

But her body had moved instinctively on it's own accord. There was something seductive in that claim that challenged her to prove him wrong.

Common sense long gone she had moved forward, her mouth moving over his. Instantly her arms had snaked round his neck. His own lips reciprocated the kiss.

Rufus' hands had moved behind her and undone her bra pulling it off and tossing it to the side. The same hands then moved over her breasts cupping them, as his tongue plundered inside her mouth.

It was like reality had taken a long holiday.

Rufus's hands moved from her chest then down the side of her body to her hips.

J'dee had felt Rufus pick her up. She had let out a cry as he knocked her onto her computer desk, the art, pens, books flying off as he pushed her onto her back.

Pure raw primal, human touch, something her body had not basked in for nearly two years.

Rufus' hand pinning her wrists to the wall. His mouth moved to her ear, tongue teasing the surface of her skin, making her breath catch and her body jolt. It moved down her neck in a soft teasing line, a talent she wasn't sure the president of a high up company had, being as she had never slept with one before.

It glided down between the valley of breasts and she felt him nip the skin before sucking on it.

Rufus' mouth then claimed her one of her breasts repeating the motions leaving red marks over her body. Marks that would get the shit teased out of her if they were in obviously seen locations.

J'dee felt his free hand work the button fly of her jeans. She could only glance down watching that tongue circle round the bud of one of her breasts, while his hand slid into the depth of her jeans. Teeth raked over the tip twisting it. Tongue lavishing the bud then sucking on it.

J'dee heard the knock at her door, it was followed by the sound of it opening. It snapped her out of the memory as she saw Yuna stick her head in. J'dee hoped she wasn't flushed as red as she felt.

“Um we're going to be training soon." Yuna stated.

J'dee let out a breath and shook her head. “I'm going to skip tonight I really need to clean this up and I have a roster to adjust and mail out for the store. The manager is going away next Monday."

She wouldn't be able to deal with Rufus not just yet, not when she had experienced a side of him that was causing her body to react strangely when just in his mere presence.

“So soon after your promotion?" Yuna asked.

“Yep thrown in the deep end, so I'll be busy this week, cranky tired and irritable so don't mind me. But tomorrow okay? Just remind me nicely."

Yuna nodded. “Um sure I'll let Rufus know that you won't be down."

J'dee smiled. She thanked Yuna knowing full well Rufus would question her actions the first moment he could.

~*~*~*~

Tobias was sparring with Kaidan while Yuna and Rufus watched. The Alliance Biotic was going all out, forcing Tobias to try and see the attacks, but Kaidan was pressing him, hard. Every slight hesitation led to a hard jab at him. They didn't hurt so much anymore since he had junctioned Irifit but they still irritated him. He felt like he should be doing better after all these weeks but every time they trained lately it felt like they were still so far above him. Kaidan swung a kick at his left side. Tobias didn't even notice when his left arm caught the leg but he did use it to press his advantage and swung his right fist at Kaidan. Kaidan smiled as he leaned back to dodge the punch. Tobias felt Kaidan's weight pulling him towards him and let go of Kaidan's leg, allowing the biotic to fall down.

“Hold!" Rufus shouted and both men stopped, breathing heavily. Rufus and Yuna came over, both of them smiling. Kaidan got up with a laugh.

“Did you see that?" Yuna said happily. Kaidan nodded as Rufus snorted in amusement.

“What? See what?" Tobias asked, confused.

“Muscle memory." Kaidan explained. “You caught my kick without even registering it. You saw it but your muscles and subconscious acted before you could even think of it. It usually only happens after years of training not a couple of months."

“Irifit." Yuna explained. “I think he's speeding the process up. I know since I got mine, spells are coming easier than before."

“I think Tobias is ready for the next level then." Rufus mused and then smirked. “Let's see what you can do if we really push it."

“Oh joy." Tobias drawled.

~*~*~*~

Belle was grading as Kaidan sat down and looked at the movie on the television.

“Do I want to know?" he asked.

“Guy in a rubber suit eating stupid college kids," Belle replied.

“What is he supposed to be?" Kaidan asked as he stared at the independent horror film Belle had playing. She glanced at the screen and blinked.

“He’s supposed to be the missing link, but he looks like a koala on steroids," she replied before returning to her grading.

“How can you listen to this trash and then do work?" Kaidan asked as he stared at the screen and Belle chuckled.

“I don’t have to pay that much attention to the movie and it makes it hurt less when the students clearly didn’t listen to my instructions in class," she answered and Kaidan snorted at the fake blood spraying out of the college student’s torso. “Humans don’t bleed like that."

“Part of the fun, if it wasn’t a school night we could play one of the drinking games," Belle stated.

“There are drinking games for this?" Rufus asked and Belle nodded.

“Yep, makes watching the movie more fun. You have to chug when you see naked boobs," she stated.

“I’ve counted five times that has happened already in the film," Rufus muttered.

“It is like a train wreck, you don’t want to look, but then it is just so horrible you can’t help but stare," Belle stated.

~*~*~*~

J'dee was up early Tuesday morning. Earlier than she needed to be. She was having a quick breakfast of just honey on toast with a hot chocolate.

It was a simple breakfast one that would at least get her through til lunch time.

“Morning."

J'dee jumped as she heard Rufus' voice. She looked over her shoulder.

“Um... morning." She looked at him.

She saw that over confidant smirk and she raised a brow. “What?" She asked.

“Anyone would think you were avoiding me. Skipping dinner for the past two nights, no eye contact yesterday and no training last night." He commented taking a seat opposite her at the table.

J'dee let out a breath. “Don't even start okay?" She stated.

“Then lets have a conversation." Rufus stated.

J'dee gave him a look and he leaned back in the chair seemingly amused by her expression.

“Now that's a familiar look. One I get from Cloud, often." Rufus commented.

J'dee frowned. “You're a manipulative bastard, can't say I blame him."

“One would think you've never dealt with this situation before." Rufus stated. “I was under the impression, you and casual sex were pretty common."

J'dee felt her cheeks heat up. “If this is how our conversation is going, I'm leaving."

Rufus chuckled. “You amuse me, you have moments where I swear you could be Reno's twin sister, built up over Zack's hyper active side, with a little bit of flower girl and Cloud thrown in there just for the sake of it. I haven't been this entertained in a while."

J'dee huffed shooting him a glare. “You obviously don't get out much."

“Healin Lodge is where I've been living since I contracted Geostigma. Tseng isn't one to let me travel to far unaccompanied. I did help put Gaia in the sorry state it's in after all."

J'dee huffed irritated. “So obviously he didn't provide you with ample distractions then." She retorted.

Rufus quirked a brow at her. “Surely you're not insinuating what I think your perverted mind is."

“Take it how every you think fit." J'dee sighed. “I'm surprised your boredom hasn't killed you yet."

“I'm far more entertained here than I have been in a while." Rufus admitted. “But the reason for this conversation. That night when you removed that spirit from your body. He appeared to look like Hojo. So I would like some answers."

J'dee let out a breath. “No body knows what happened to Hojo. The Hojo that was inside Weiss was a computer virus or A.I not a physical spirit." She explained. “All I know is that Hojo refused to go into the lifestream. He could have gone anywhere. But the only way he could have made it here was to attach himself to something he owned that you have in your possession. At the same time my eviction shouldn't have him banished from the house at all if you still have it in your possession."

Rufus lent forward in the chair. “I see so something I own that used to be Hojo's... All I ever owned that was Hojo's was Dark Nation."

J'dee blinked and looked at him. “Cloud killed Dark Nation right?"

Rufus looked to the side the irritation on his face obvious. “Yes."

“Do you still have something of Dark Nation's on you?" J'dee looked at him.

Rufus looked at her. “I do. But I misplaced it a week ago."

“Do you think you could find it for me? We need to cleanse it. I don't know about you but I don't wanna deal with the ghost of a mad scientist." J'dee commented.

~*~*~*~

“What is the progress?" the General demanded.

“She hasn’t checked any of the accounts that we reset the passwords for," the private said.

“What is her history for checking them?" The General asked.

“Not regularly, sir, she pays her loans several months before she checks the progress," the private said. The General ground his teeth.

“Call the State Police, I’m going to need their assistance in this," he snarled.

~*~*~*~

J'dee stepped out of her car and she looked back at the fences boundaries. She could see Hojo standing at the gate and unable to move any closer to the house. What got her was the flicker of his image. Like a transmission interrupted on a television. She turned round walking inside and she looked at Tobias rolling his shoulders walking towards the door.

“Training soon J-chan. We're going to warm up." Tobias stated.

J'dee nodded. “Where's Belle?"

“Running late tonight so she gets to miss out." Kaidan chuckled.

“Lucky her." J'dee commented.

Yuna was following the guys outside. “She said something about having to stay late for end of the school year preparations."

“Makes sense. I'll be down soon, just let me get changed." J'dee headed into the hallway and up the stairs.

She opened her bedroom door shutting it after her and pulling her top off and stopping suddenly glancing towards her computer chair. There was no Rufus sitting there waiting for her.

But the dent in the wall remained beside the window near her desk. There was no way to fix that.

Rufus' hand had moved under her. He had picked her up slamming her into the wall. J'dee had hissed at the mixture of pain and the sensation of the cold pressing flushed against her back.

Rufus pulled at the fabric of her jeans before the denim came completely off. Her underwear was next, he tossed them to the side not caring where they landed.

J'dee's naked flush rocked against his hand her breath ragged. Fingers sliding inside her heated need. They began to move thrusting in and out with practiced skill pressing deep inside her.

J'dee's hands rested on his shoulders holding on for dear life.

It was unlike any experience she'd had before. J'dee had been trying to focus on the chant but his attention to her body was distracting her concentration.

Rufus showed more skill than she had been expecting. She was trying to focus on drawing out his energy to use, but her body obviously was out of practice. Instead it was relishing in the sudden sexual attention. Attention that she had purposely denied it.

He removed his fingers, dropping to one knee, he lifted her legs up slinging them over his shoulders.

J'dee felt the hot mouth between her thighs.

"FUCK!" Her back slammed against the wall. "R-RUFUS!" She exclaimed.

J'dee shook the memory off and hit the side of her head. She hoped her face wasn't still as red as her body felt from the memories that tormented her body.

She was sure would have just gotten over it. But her body seemed to be drawn to the need. To feel it again despite her mental protests.

~*~*~*~

Belle sighed as she pulled her car into the driveway. She looked at the pile of papers she had left to grade and groaned. Her door opened and Kaidan smiled.

“So I am going to take a guess that you are out of training tonight," he grinned and Belle nodded.

“End of the year, I have papers, final projects, and sadly finals themselves coming soon. So I will not be quite as free as previous," she sighed.

“You will make it up eventually," Kaidan teased and Belle groaned as she got out of the car. “Yuna misses you, she needs a punching bag and Tobias is much stronger now that he has a summons."

“I don’t think I will ever get used to that…thankfully in a year, it will all be back to normal," Belle sighed.

“Yeah," Kaidan said as he opened up her passenger side and took out her bag and grading.

“Not that I won’t miss someone being so chivalrous and carrying my stuff for me," Belle laughed.

“You helped me with the migraine," Kaidan said and Belle nodded.

“Anytime," she replied.

~*~*~*~

Tobias ducked under Yuna's kick and then rolled to side to avoid the followup downward kick. He lunged at her with a hay-maker left but Yuna caught it. Tobias used his momentum to swung his right fist at her middle. Yuna slammed her left hand down, deflecting his fist and catching his arm against her side. Tobias was caught off guard and yanked back in surprise but his feet gave out from under him on the gravel of the driveway. He slid down onto his back and pulled Yuna with him. Yuna let out a shriek of surprise and landed squarely on Tobias.

“Brilliant move!" Kaidan laughed from where he was watching, clapping his hands. Tobias stared up at Yuna with wide eyes. Yuna returned his look with one of her own.

“S-sorry." Tobias mumbled. Yuna shook her head and pushed away from Tobias with a smile.

“It's alright." Yuna said. “With the way your friends talk I half expected to feel your hand on my ass, though."

Tobias laughed.

~*~*~*~

J'dee avoided the swing of Rufus' leg as it was set dead for her ribs and she spun round behind him. His body moved, jacket flowing out around him as his ankle caught hers.

She felt her body fall and her knee wrapped round the back of his and she brought him down with her.

J'dee let out a grunt as she hit the ground again for the fifth time that night. This time though when her eyes opened Rufus was over her. His hands pressed down to ground on either side of her head.

Those blue eyes were looking at her and she recognized that look. It caused her face to heat up and she felt his knee brush against her hip.

“One would think you like being underneath me." The smooth taunt passed his amused lips.

J'dee looked to the side to try and hide the red on her cheeks.

“Why is it the majority of the time I have to train with you?" She complained.

She felt Rufus lean down he mouth by her ear. She could feel his breath against her neck.

"Then maybe you should have wished for Tifa." He whispered.

J'dee felt her face heat up and she shuffled back looking at Rufus. “And you say I'm like Reno." She hissed. J'dee got up brushing herself down. “Go train with Yuna I'm done for the night."

~*~*~*~

Belle was sitting in her room when she felt something off. She looked around and rubbed her arms. The sounds from the kitchen told her that Yuna was helping Tobias cook dinner. Still something wasn’t right. She got up and moved from her desk, the pile of grading left behind as she moved into the hallway. She looked around but couldn’t see anything wrong.

“I saw a man who wasn’t there, I saw him standing on the stair," she muttered as she moved to see Kaidan and Rufus watching television. She went back and felt the urge to open J’dee’s room. It didn’t look any different from the other times Belle had seen it since they moved in, but there was something wrong. Belle rubbed her arms as she looked into the room. She sighed before looking back down the hall. Belle whispered the Lord’s prayer and felt a little better, but there was still a sense of foreboding from behind her. She closed the door and shook her head.

“He wasn’t there again today, I wish, I wish he’d go away," she muttered as she returned to her room, closing the door and straightening the crucifix above it.

~*~*~*~

Rufus stepped into the kitchen in time to hear a car pull out of the drive way. He walked up to the window and looked out seeing J'dee's car driving off down the street.

She was back to avoiding him again. It was a common reaction of denial. He must have frustrated her something more than normal last night.

It amused him. At least he had some form of entertainment for his boredom of this world. He wasn't confined to Healin Lodge here, the people here didn't know him, didn't hate him, they didn't care nor know him. He had a little bit more freedom where people would not recognize him here.

Rufus was about to turn round to make his morning cup of coffee, when he saw J'dee's cat by the fence line hackles up hissing at something.

Opening the front door he stepped outside. He found himself staring directly at the image of Hojo. The distance between them was vast. But not far enough that he would not know the “good" doctor if he saw him.

Rufus walked up to where J'dee's cat was. Rufus stood next to the hissing animal staring at the flickering static image of Hojo.

“My dear boy... how nice to see you clothed."

The jab had been made.

“Is it true? You attached yourself to Dark Nation's name tag I had on me?"

Hojo smiled at him. “Does it bother you Mr. President that I've been with you this entire time?"

Rufus froze. Since Hojo's death, had he been with him the entire time. It unnerved him that Hojo would and probably did know everything that he'd been trying to keep secret.

“Just a little."

Hojo's cruel sardonic smile still crept him out. “She was a comfortable host. No nearly as impressive as Weiss but still fun."

“The tag." Rufus held out his hand.

“Dear boy do you take me for a fool. It's where you will never find it. This world has so many vast resources. I'm going to enjoy it for a while."

Rufus growled as the image just seemed to fade out of his sight. He looked round then down to the cat who was just sitting there before she rubbed up against his leg.

~*~*~*~

Belle ran out of her room swearing and Kaidan blinked.

“I thought you had gone to work already," he stated as she quickly began throwing items into her lunch bag before shoving a granola bar into her mouth and running around grabbing her things. Her make-up was minimal. She devoured the granola bar before quickly draining some orange juice he offered.

“I hit the damn sleep button on my alarm clock this morning!" Belle hissed. “I need to leave now!" She grabbed her bag and ran out the door. Kaidan blinked and noticed her car keys on the hook. He quickly grabbed them and held them out.

“Thank you!" she cried before slamming the door.

~*~*~*~

Rufus sat in the lounge with the paper, he turned the page, not really focusing on what he was reading. J'dee had left the training early last night then vanished before even he got up this morning. That moment last night it had sparked a strange curiosity.

But that wasn't why he needed to talk to her now. Hojo. It was most definitely Hojo. But what damage could a ghost do without a body? Not much. They were safe for now.

Still to think about it he had lent her his strength, his energy and all that time it had been Hojo nestled deep inside her and that crept him out more than he wanted to admit.

Rufus had felt her hips move against his mouth. His tongue had tasted between the folds of her thighs. He had been driven on by her gasps of breath, her rocking hips and trembling thighs.

Each tremor through her body told him she was so very close to her release.

Rufus had picked that moment to let her down.

She slid down the wall before looking up at him.

"J-jerk, I can't drain you if you throw me off like that."

Rufus stood up and he offered her his hand. She grabbed it and he pulled her up, the next thing he knew she had him slammed into the frame of the window, it clipped his shoulder and he hissed, her hands were working at his belt pulling it off, before her hands opened his white pants.

Her hand freed his arousal, he felt it roll over his length, and he hissed.

He grabbed her pushing her up against her bookcase his mouth claiming hers, his arousal rolling between her thighs.

Her hand gripped his length and he felt her guide his member between the folds of her thighs. He sunk into the tight heat gasping, her breath in his ear, her hands clinging to him, her thighs wrapped round his waist.

Yuna sat down next to him. "Are you okay?"

Rufus jolted as he was brought out of the memory. He looked at Yuna for that moment. She looked at him seeming actually concerned.

“It's nothing." Rufus stated he averted her gaze. In case she seemed to be able to read the reason behind his frustration.

Yuna let out a sigh. "We all saw it, Tobias, myself and Kaidan. Last night. You and J'dee, there's something going on between you two."

Rufus looked at her. “It's between us." He stated.

Yuna nodded. “Whatever you two have Rufus, don't take it for granted like I did. We'll be gone from here soon enou-"

Rufus cut her off quickly. “I understand." He stood up looking at Yuna. “But we have other issues to worry about. Like training that dense asshole how to use his summon."

Yuna nodded her head. “I'll talk to Tobias about it." She watched Rufus leave the room.

~*~*~*~

“What’s the status?" the General growled.

“She speeds slightly, but not enough for someone to perform a search on her car," the soldier reported. The General growled.

“Have the State Police set up a random search tomorrow, I want to know what she is hiding," the General snapped and the soldier saluted before walking off. The General sat in his chair, his blue eyes seeming to glow coldly. “I will not let some little woman make a fool out of my soldiers."

~*~*~*~

J'dee had avoided Rufus and everyone for most of the afternoon. She was just hiding in her room reorganizing her bookshelf trying to keep her mind off it. Off Rufus.

But this entire room still held the energy and the memory. She had slept with him, they had gone beyond that point. To try and act normal was overly difficult. Especially when she trained nightly with him. When he would knock her to the ground and land over her. His body remaining and lingering so close. It was driving her mental. He was a ruthless prick, an asshole, and not to mention he didn't think twice about killing someone in his way.

J'dee let out a defeated breath. “Of all the people..." She whispered to herself as she began to place the books in her arms back on the shelf in a semblance of order.

The knock at the door came suddenly making her jump. She dropped several of the books. J'dee looked over as the door opened and she found herself staring at said blonde she had been avoiding.

“Training soon." He stated.

J'dee nodded and crouched down to pick up the books. She looked up as Rufus stepped into her room. He knelt down and helped her pick up the books.

“I'll be down soon, you don't have to-" She began.

J'dee glanced at him for a moment catching those blue eyes and she looked down quickly.

He was an asshole and she had to keep telling herself that. A really hot controlling asshole. With a nice body that he hid underneath layers of corporate clothing.

She felt her eye twitch in annoyance at her lack of mental control of her thoughts.

J'dee still had the memory of the moment as he had began to thrust, hips flexed against hers as she clung to him.

“T-There! Ah!"

Her cries driving him on as he aimed for that spot, hitting it over and over. Her breasts pressed flushed against his chest.

Her head buried into his shoulder, her teeth scraping the skin her nails digging into his back, the mixture of pain and pleasure seemed to drive his hips onward.

Thrusting in then pulling out and thrusting into that warm tight inviting heat.

“H-harder damnit!" She growled against his shoulder.

Rufus chuckled. “Pushy aren't you?" He teased purposely slowing his thrusts.

“Fuck you." She growled impatiently.

Rufus pulled her from the bookcase several books falling off and onto the floor.

He moved with her to the bed.

J'dee swallowed hard trying to force the memory out of her head. She turned to look at Rufus. He slipped a book into an empty slot in the bookshelf, she saw the familiar red book then he placed another one in front of it.

“You're quiet, you seem to be lost for words." Rufus stated.

J'dee saw him look at her. “This is why I didn't want you to..." She motioned between them. “Because of this!" She exclaimed.

“This?" Rufus looked at her.

J'dee sighed. “It's weird okay."

Rufus rolled his eyes. “You're the one in denial." He stated.

“I'm not in denial." J'dee huffed.

Rufus hand slammed down, landing beside her head on the shelf of the book case.

“Then look me in the eyes and tell me it happened." He challenged.

J'dee looked up at him, Rufus was definitely invading her personal space. His intimidation technique, was frustrating her.

“Alright, we slept together okay, I admit it. You slept with me or I slept with you! There happy?"

Rufus lifted his hand from the shelf and J'dee let out a breath looking to the side out her door.

He knew then that she just realized her door had not been shut after he had entered.

Kaidan was standing in the hallway looking at the two of them. He'd obviously been sent up to get them for training.

“So do you two need another five minutes or will you be skipping out on training tonight?" Kaidan asked with a teasing grin.

J'dee let her head drop. “You can train with Belle," She gave Kaidan a look. “I'm going to train with Yuna tonight." She stalked out of the room and down the stairs.

Rufus looked at Kaidan. “I guess I'm teaching Tobias more swordsmanship."

“You really need to work on your people skills." Kaidan commented.

~*~*~*~

“Alright, let’s see where you are at," Kaidan said as Belle stretched and she whipped around to look at him.

“Say what now?" she asked and Kaidan smiled.

“For some reason J’dee wants to train with Yuna," he said. “You’re not afraid, are you?" Belle blushed.

“It’s hardly fair, I’m the least experienced of the three trainees and you’re a man. Biologically speaking, you have the advantage because you are both taller and more muscular than me. A woman is always going to lose out to a man of equal or greater size." Kaidan smiled.

“Let’s see what you got and then we’ll move on from there," he said. Belle pouted as she got into a ready position. She went to kick his knee out and he grabbed her arm and effortlessly flipped her over onto her back. Belle lay on the ground sucking air back into her lungs as Kaidan stood over her chuckling.

“Told…you…" Belle gasped and he shook his head.

“Sorry, I couldn’t help myself," he said as he offered his hand.

“I hate J’dee," Belle groaned as she grabbed his hand and he helped her onto her feet.

“Why don’t I teach you how to break away, Yuna can teach attacks, but her grappling is weak, I can help with that," Kaidan said.

“I hate being hurt," Belle muttered as Kaidan began to explain.

J'dee's first blurred image of the morning was to see Rufus sitting at the kitchen table. He had the paper as normal and a cup of coffee. She got herself a glass of coke and sat down opposite him.

“You're up earlier than normal." She stated.

“Do I frighten you?" Rufus asked calmly.

J'dee blinked. “No." She scoffed. “Don't be stupid."

He looked at her and she saw the glint behind those eyes that reminded her who she was sitting opposite. He had ordered many lives to be taken for his cause.

Done horrible things to those who got in his way. His company had sucked the energy from the lifestream to create Mako energy.

“Then don't avoid me. It irritates me." He stated.

J'dee nodded. “After work, we can talk then. You and me. Call off training and have that talk that we need to have."

~*~*~*~

“I'm doing it the way the way you're telling me to but it's just not working!" Tobias complained. He idly twirled the quarter staff in one hand. “I'm doing the movements you showed me for Irifit and I'm focusing on him in my mind like you said but its just connecting." Tobias heard Irifit growl in frustration in his head as Yuna stroked Valefor's feathers with one hand and let the summon eat the birdseed cupped in her other hand.

“Well for me the summoning motions are a part of my training. It's hard for me to part them from the summoning itself. Maybe junction summons don't work on a ritual so much as intent. Anything you can remember from that game that might help?" Yuna asked, focused on Valefor.

“Not really. It looked like they were focusing on something but not so much as the hows." Tobias grumped.

“That's too bad. We'll just have to find something for you to focus on or use for motivation." Yuna mused. She looked around. “I was kind of hoping to show off but no one is around."

“Well J'dee is working late and Belle took Kaidan to the gym again." Tobias said. He focused on summoning Irifit and then held his hands out. Nothing.

“J'dee's been working a lot lately. Maybe you should talk with her about it?"

“I'm not the best person for that." Tobias explained. “When I was working at the engineering firm I used to put in twelve hour days easy. Belle and J'dee both used to scold me for it so I really don't have much room to talk."

~*~*~*~

“No," Belle stated as Kaidan gave her a look.

“I need the practice and no one will notice," Kaidan stated.

“I am not pretending to lift weights while you use your biotics to do the work," she stated and Kaidan gave her a look.

“I need to let them go or I will start to lose control," he stated and Belle groaned.

“Fine, but at least look like you are helping me," she muttered as she moved to the weight room. Kaidan motioned at an empty bench and Belle put on fifty pounds.

“You can put on more than that," Kaidan said and Belle gave him a look.

“You want more you do this yourself," she warned and he sighed.

“No, twenty reps and then we weigh up," he stated and Belle sighed.

“Fine, but nothing over a hundred, I doubt I could lift that," she growled as she lay down on the bench and Kaidan stood behind her head. Belle stared at the bar and held it. It began to move up and down slowly. She wanted to laugh and as she looked up at Kaidan she realized their position put her head in the best position to stare at his crotch.

‘Smooth, idiot,’ she thought as she focused on the bar between her hands as hard as she could, trying very hard not to think about the fact that Kaidan’s work-out shorts were just a wee bit too tight. ‘Don’t think about it or you will turn red, don’t think about it or you will turn red, stop thinking about it, moron!’

“Are you okay, you’re turning red," Kaidan said and Belle blushed more.

“Sorry, just cannot believe I’m doing this, let’s weigh up now," she spat out quickly and moved away trying not to look at Kaidan. It was going to be a long work-out.

~*~*~*~

J'dee was on the phone at work calling Tobias's, there was a late stock arrival, so she was going to be held up. She heard the phone answered.

“Yes?"

J'dee blinked recognizing Rufus' voice. “Did no one teach you how to answer the phone properly?"

“Of course. Don't insinuate that I have no phone etiquette."

J'dee sighed. “Look we got a shit load of stock in for an upcoming release I'm going to be late."

“You're missing training again aren't you?" He stated.

J'dee let out a breath. “Yeah me, Kaidan, and Belle, sorry. I got a text from her saying they are at the gym late, the pool was taken up."

“I swear you are just trying to avoid us." Rufus' voice had a hint of a teasing tone to it.

“Of course. Just pass it on okay?"

“It's not like I have anything else to do round here."

J'dee heard the phone hung up and she looked at it. “God he's an asshole."

She hit the end button on the cordless and set it down.

Sam motioned at her manager. “Double bacon?"

“Hells yeah." Her manager replied.

Sam pointed at her. “No mayonnaise?"

“Of course." J'dee grinned.
Sam left the store to go get their burgers for dinner.

J'dee felt her manager staring at her and she looked at him. “What?"

“No mayo?" He asked.

“I don't eat mayo." J'dee replied with flat eyes.
“What, you don't like Mayonnaise?" Her manager asked.
J'dee raised a brow. “Yeah I don't have mayo on my chicken burger."
“Wow it's like you're black and I'm white." He replied with a teasing grin.
“I don't mind Japanese mayo, I just don't like white people's mayonnaise." J'dee replied before slapping her hand to her face.
Her manager's head dropped to the counter as he cracked up laughing.
“I didn't mean that how it sounded okay, I'm tired."

~*~*~*~

“Did I make you mad?" Kaidan asked and Belle shook her head.

“No, I just, got lost in thought and it made me frustrated," Belle stated and Kaidan raised an eyebrow.

“You haven’t seemed like the type to keep those thoughts to yourself. I have heard you talking to J’dee when irritated," Kaidan stated and Belle flushed more.

“Kaidan, it is one of those things…oh…God!" Belle muttered as she saw the flashing lights of a couple of state police cars. Kaidan winced as the lights flashed. Belle looked at him and felt guilty about not talking to him after she basically stared at his groin. “Headache?"

“Starting," he muttered. There was a line of cars in front of theirs and as every now and then a car would be searched, the occupants frisked. It seemed to take forever before Belle pulled to a stop as the trooper indicated. The trooper looked at her hard and then at Kaidan. Belle lowered her window and the officer looked into the back of the car, seeing the gym bags and noticing the wet hair of the two passengers.

“Been hitting the weights?" the trooper asked and Belle nodded.

“Yes, sir," she replied.

“License and registration," he ordered and Belle pointed at her glove compartment before going for her purse. She pulled out her license while Kaidan handed her the registration. She offered both to the trooper. He began to look them over. “I’m going to need you both to step out of the car for a routine search." Belle’s eyes narrowed before Kaidan rubbed her shoulder.

“We don’t mind," Kaidan said and Belle remembered that the less police noticed them the better.

“Is there something we should be worried about…no one escaped from prison or anything did they?" Belle asked as she turned off the car and slowly got out.

“Just a little warning about something, just lock your doors when you get home tonight," the trooper stated as he indicated the front of the car. “I need to frisk you first, ma’am."

“This seems strange…but…okay…I guess," Belle muttered, she didn’t know what to make of this, but something was not right.

“Sir, do you have some form of identification?" the other trooper asked and Kaidan shook his head.

“I left my wallet at home, Belle picked me up, I didn’t think I’d need it," Kaidan lied smoothly and Belle nodded.

“Lean against the vehicle and we’ll pat you down before searching the car," the first trooper said and Belle felt weird having a strange man run his hands over her body before nodding at his counterpart. “She’s clean."

“So’s he," the other said. “We’re just going to check the car and then you two are free to go." Belle nodded as she moved next to Kaidan, she noticed he was rubbing his temple and she made a note to help with the migraine that was no doubt forming. While Belle was studying Kaidan she missed the second officer picking up the forgotten materia in her back seat and putting it into his pocket.

“All done," the first trooper said and Belle quickly got into the car, Kaidan gave her a nod and they drove off, unaware of the confiscated materia.

~*~*~*~

J'dee got in later than she expected, she saw Belle's car still wasn't in the drive way and she frowned. She looked to her watch checking the time.

“I hope she's okay." She opened the door to the house.

The television was on and she saw Tobias sitting up alone watching the tv.

“Evening." She stated.

“Rufus is in your room again raiding your laptop."

J'dee let out a breath. “Awesome." She drawled. “He better not be deleting more crap from my yaoi folder."

“Your what folder?" Yuna asked as she walked in and Tobias smirked.

“Don't worry." J'dee walked past and into the hallway then up the stairs.

J'dee saw Rufus sitting at her computer desk on her laptop. “I swear if you break it I'm making you buy me another one."

“I was checking your investments if you must know."

J'dee walked up beside him to look at the screen, lines and numbers that were on the spreadsheet, it was beyond her understanding. “I can't read crap of that."

“You've made and extra three thousand so far. If I shuffle that to another investment I'm sure by the next couple of months you will have made a decent amount to put a deposit on a sizeable home and maybe a second car."

J'dee nodded her head slowly. “Awesome." She stated.

Rufus looked at her. “And you don't care."

“Yeah not right now. But thanks for keeping an eye on it for me. Now shuffle I want to get some sleep."

~*~*~*~

“Go downstairs, I’ll get the stuff from last time," Belle said as they entered and Kaidan grunted a reply.

“What stuff from last time?" Rufus asked as he entered the room.

“Kaidan got a migraine because of the search line. The state police are looking for someone or something," Belle stated. “The flashing lights from the cruisers got to Kaidan while we were in the queue. Rufus eyes narrowed.

“Looking for something?" he asked and Belle blinked.

“No one knows about you guys but us, it was probably an escaped prisoner or something," Belle stated as she collected the various materials she had used on Kaidan before. “Now Kaidan is suffering and I’m going to help him. Don’t bother trying to make it dirty, because it isn’t." Rufus noticed the slight blush on Belle’s cheek and wondered if that was true.

~*~*~*~

The next day J'dee woke late in the morning glad for the Friday off. She rolled over in the bed only to be greeted with a nudge to her hand by a wet nose and furry head.

She opened her eyes to look at Tiger the cat squeaking at her.

“Hungry?" She mumbled.

J'dee watched as Tiger began to bury her way under the blankets. “Argh! Alright cat I'm getting up."

~*~*~*~

“What is it?" the General asked as he entered the science lab.

“We can’t tell, sir, but it seems to be generating energy on several spectrums of electromagnetic radiation, but all of them are contained within the orb itself," the tech said as the material glowed inside of a containment unit. The General approached the side of the unit and stared at the glowing ball.

“I will learn what she is hiding," he growled. “Give me all information about her, I want her weaknesses lined up. Don’t stop studying this thing. I want to know everything about it."

~*~*~*~

J'dee was sitting on the porch in the afternoon, tanning her legs in the sunshine. Having her cigarette and watching her cat roll around on the concrete of the driveway. Her earphones were connected to her mp3 player and she was listening to her mixed compilation of Eyeshine, P!nk, Snoop Dogg and Miyavi she had put on it. She had done decent overtime this week that she earned Sunday off. Mostly because she had left here early most mornings to avoid Rufus. Now she had to deal to him for the next three days. She wasn't really looking forward to that.

She looked up as Tobias came outside.

“Back to the garage to tinker with your boy toys?"

Tobias smiled and sat down next to her. “Eventually."

J'dee looked at him. “So what's up?"

“Kaidan mentioned there was a little tension between you and Rufus. My sword training hours seem to have increased." He commented.

“Yeah, he's a little frustrating. If my heart’s desire was to have help to run my own business. The business is still a bar. Why Rufus? Why not Tifa?" She hated admitting that Rufus' teasing of her using Tifa frustrated her. But it also made more sense.

Tobias shook his head. “That's something your heart will probably tell you, not me." he gave her shoulder a pat. “Has something happened?"

“Yeeeep last sunday. Me and Rufus." She nodded.

Tobias blinked for a moment. “Thought so." He mused.

“Makes things awkward." J'dee commented. “I don't tend to do housemates its a rule I've had for a good ten years."

“Have a talk with him after training. Just the two of you." Tobias stood up.

J'dee picked up her glass of coke and took a sip.

~*~*~*~

“You’re home early," Kaidan said as Belle entered and she smiled.

“Yeah, there was an assembly this morning, so I didn’t have much work from my morning students. Thus, home at a reasonable hour," she said as she headed toward her room.

“You’re mine today," Kaidan said and Belle blinked.

“Again?" Belle stated and Kaidan shrugged.

“Go get ready," he ordered and Belle sighed.

“I’m going to take my time," she called back.

~*~*~*~

J'dee slipped her sneakers on last before heading down the stairs. There was another lot of training tonight to make up for what she missed yesterday with being home late. She stepped outside looking at Rufus holding a sword.

“More sword training for Tobias huh?"

Kaidan looked at her and grinned. “It should be good."

J'dee let out a silent breath of relief. She was glad Tobias and Rufus would be training tonight.

“I believe Yuna wants to teach you some weapon use tonight to, so I'll be training with Belle."

J'dee blinked. “Wait what?"

“Enjoy the bruises to come." Belle smiled at her.

J'dee gave her friend a flat eyed look. She was tapped on the shoulder by something wooden and she looked over her shoulder to see the wooden quarter staff Yuna was holding out to her, while Yuna held another one in her hand.

“Oh joy." She drawled.

~*~*~*~

“Not bad. You're picking up on this fairly quickly, for a novice." Rufus allowed, twirling his bokken. Tobias shrugged, holding his bokken at the ready.

“Thanks." The two men circled each other, both waiting for an opening. “So what's going on between you and J'dee?"

Rufus frowned and made a half-hearted lunge at Tobias's right side. Tobias deflected it easily enough.

“I don't think you have any right to ask." Rufus replied.

“So not the right answer." Tobias snapped. Rufus blinked in surprise as Tobias flexed his legs and achieved a large jump. Not as high as Yuna's leaps but still pretty high. Tobias flung a Fire spell at the surprised Shinra. Rufus quickly countered with a Water of his own. The two spells met in the air making a mild bang. The area between them was filled with thick white smoke before Tobias fell through it. Rufus barely raised his bokken in defense as Tobias swung down at his face. The blow broke Rufus's bokken it half and sent the man sprawling onto his back with a thud. Rufus winced as he hit and snarled when he felt the tip of Tobias's bokken against his throat.

“I'm going to be very clear with you about something." Tobias said, his voice had taken on a deep tone to it. Belle and J'dee had both heard it and called it Tobias's fuck-with-me-at-your-own-peril voice. When he spoke like that it was warning sign that he was about to go nuclear. “I love J'dee. She and Belle are the closest thing to family I have left. I'd kill Jesus himself if it kept them safe. So when I ask you what is going on between you, you should answer because I don't care if it damns this whole world to hell I'll kill you if you hurt her."

Rufus swallowed and stared up into Tobias narrowed blue eyes. He could count on his hand the number of times he felt scared of some one, and Tobias had just made that list.

'This boy isn't as weak as he appears to be.' Rufus thought.

“Fair enough." Rufus allowed. “She was being possessed by a spirit. She used my energy to help cleanse it."

“Sex magic." Tobias said, coming to the conclusion. At Rufus's surprised look Tobias sighed. “We've been friends for years and I like to listen to her talk about magic. Now answer me this, where are you going to take this?"

“Where I want." Rufus snarked and winced when he felt the tip of the bokken press deeper.

“See now that’s where you fail to understand something. J'dee's had shitty luck with relationships. They usually use her and leave. So I'm giving some friendly advice. End that part of your relationship right now or you be as nice as Rufus Shinra can be to her. Because if not, I'm going to have access to monsters soon. Monsters who I know will happily eat you. We clear?"

“Crystal." Rufus said. Now it felt like he was asking some one's permission to date their daughter. Ugh, he was turning into a sentimental sap in this place.

“Goodie." Tobias said and pulled his bokken away. Rufus took the hand that Tobias reached out to him and hauled himself up.

“I think we're done of the day." Rufus said and whirled around. Tobias watched the man go, shaking his head.

~*~*~*~

Belle punched the mitts Kaidan was wearing. She ducked and dodged as his body moved.

“You know, you have a lot more skill as a brawler," Kaidan said and Belle snorted.

“It’s not hard to punch a person where it hurts when they don’t think you’re capable of hitting you where it hurts," Belle chuckled and Kaidan shook his head.

“Sadly, you usually only get one good hit in that way," he said and Belle sighed as she moved back.

“I’m not a fighter, Kaidan, I can appreciate a fight for the right reasons, but I’m not an aggressive person like Tobias and J’dee. Don’t get me wrong, to protect the people that I love, I can fight that will, but, I’ve never had to worry much about that kind of situation," Belle explained. “I don’t want to cause pain…I want to know hand-to-hand that disables opponents in non-lethal ways." Kaidan nodded as they both looked to Rufus and Tobias.

“Swords and guns are not non-lethal," Kaidan said.

“That’s why I need hand-to-hand disabling methods," Belle stated. “I know the logistics of it, pull an arm up high enough behind a shoulder and it will dislocate. Kick a knee and it will do the same. I just need to learn how to take the logical disabling techniques and turn them into a physical ability."

“I can do that," Kaidan said.

“Thank you," Belle said with a smile.

“I know how important the preservation of life can be," he said.

~*~*~*~

J'dee shuffled down the hall after training holding her aching shoulder. She pushed open the door to her room. She had hit the bath to soak the injury but it was still aching. Opening her door she stopped and looked inside to see Rufus also fresh from a shower. He was sitting on the edge of her bed.

“Rufus what are you-?" She began.

He held up the curaga materia for her to see. J'dee watched him walk up to her and activate it before pressing it to her shoulder and she saw the flash of green before she felt the pain ease in her shoulder.

J'dee blinked for a moment. “You didn't have to."

“Trust me I did."

J'dee was well aware of how close he was, she looked behind as he shut her door.

She turned round not looking at him, her hand touching the wooden door, part of her wanted to open up the door and leave, the other part of her couldn't move.

“Did Tobias send you up here?" It was all she could say at that moment.

“We had a talk." Rufus stated.

J'dee felt the hand move over her ribs, she felt his breath to her neck.

“I'm not possessed this time." She whispered. “I'm okay... you don't have to."

“I know."

J'dee felt her face heat up as the mouth touched base with her neck. The hand slowly moving down then up under her shirt.

“Why?" It was all she could ask.

“Why not?"

She felt the warmth of Rufus' hand touch her skin causing her face to heat up. Her forehead rested up against the door. J'dee felt her hand shaking as she placed it over his wrist. She wanted to pull it away.

She wanted to cease this before anything happened. But curiosity stopped her.

She wasn't possessed, and he still seemed to come here, into her room to help her.

~*~*~*~

“What is this?" Kaidan asked as Belle placed a large bowl of noodles on the table.

“Peanut soy bean noodles," Belle said as she placed it on the table.

“You made a lot," Kaidan mentioned.

“You’ve been using your biotics more often, you need more food," Belle stated. “We don’t have those high protein, calorie foods you have in the future, so you need more energy you eat more. This was an easy to double recipe for me to make."

“Very true," Kaidan said and smiled slightly at Belle. “I didn’t realize you had noticed."

“I was at the gym with you," Belle said, blushing slightly. “Go set the table." Kaidan chuckled as he headed to get the silverware while Belle went back to finish an Asian salad.

~*~*~*~

J'dee was woken by a knock on her door and she opened her eyes sleepily. She saw Yuna holding her door open.

“Oh I'm sorry. Your cat she was scratching at the door."

J'dee heard the purrrrt before she felt Tiger jump up on the bed.

It was then J'dee felt the warmth behind her and the arm round her waist. Rufus' breath touching her back. Yuna closed the door. J'dee could feel her face heat up as she lay there.

It was a strange foreign comfort she wasn't used to and gathering by what happened last night she assumed there would be more to come.

Her hand moved to her face slowly. She was starting to slowly understand why her heart picked Rufus.

She had been so used to dealing with idiot men most of them uneducated idiots.

If she had to have a relationship with a man, she had mentally sworn a while back that she would not end up with someone stupid. Strong and educated who could help her and not become obsessive.

J'dee felt Rufus stir behind her and she looked over her shoulder.

“Is this going to become a common thing?" She asked.

“Maybe, up to you what you want to do."

J'dee shrugged. “I don't know what I want to do. I don't want to become attached and get hurt."

“I understand."

~*~*~*~

“So do you know about the summons?" Kaidan asked as Belle washed the breakfast dishes and Belle paused.

“What now?" Belle asked and Kaidan grinned.

“Yuna’s teaching Tobias how to summon," he said. “Didn’t you know that?"

“No," Belle said slowly before grinning. “So when is this happening."

“Today," Kaidan said.

“Could you finish the dishes for me, I need to go grab Yuna," Belle grinned before running off.

“J’dee might want to come along," Kaidan said.

“Good idea!" Belle cried.

~*~*~*~

“I don't see why you guys have to watch me do this." Tobias whined as everyone followed him and Yuna to small clearing reserved for their Saturday morning training.

“I'm curious." Belle admitted. “I've never seen a summoning let alone a summons battle."

“Plus I have a couple of ideas for helping you past this block you have summoning Irifit. Yuna said I could try and help." J'dee said. Tobias glanced at Rufus and Kaidan who were following with smirks on their faces.

“We're just here for the show." Kaidan said and Tobias rolled his eyes.

~*~*~*~

“Did you have to tag along?" Tobias asked and Belle and J’dee nodded.

“You think I was going to miss this?" J’dee asked and Belle nodded.

“I see a chance of you setting yourself on fire," Belle grinned.

“That’s not very nice," Yuna said and Belle shrugged.

“Oh, you know it is funny," Belle grinned.

“Well, it takes concentration to summon," Yuna said and both friends smiled at her. “I won’t object."

“No commentary," Tobias growled.

“Rise above distraction you must," Belle croaked in a Yoda impression.

“I am going to hate this," Tobias groaned.

~*~*~*~

J'dee pulled out her mp3 player and the little boom speakers from her pockets before hooking it all up.

“What are you doing?" Rufus asked looking at J'dee as she set up the mini sound system.

“I'm going to be Toby's D.J! I always wanted to be a D.J."

“You mean his distraction more like it?" Belle grinned.

“Oooh yeah." J'dee hit the little triangle button. “He has to rise above distraction you said so yourself and I'm really good at distracting people."

Rufus pinched the bridge of his nose as the song started to play and he let out a breath.

“Sometimes I wonder about your sanity some times." Rufus commented.

Toby was shooting her a darkened look.

“Not helping." He growled in frustration as the chorus started playing out.

I'm so excited and I just can't hide itI'm about to lose control and I think I like itI'm so excited and I just can't hide itAnd I know I know I know I know I know I want you

Belle gave Rufus a look then shrugged. “You get used to her... honest."

“When?" He asked with a sigh.

“Eventually." She offered with no time frame.

Toby groaned from where he was standing. “Something else please."

J'dee sighed. “Fine ruin my fun..." She hit the shuffle button then the double arrows for next.

Belle looked at her with a raised brow. “What is with your playlist?"

“Wait till you hit the Kpop part Psy, before he got famous with Gangnam Style."

Oh oh Wee-ell-now! Relax don't do it When you want to go to it Relax don't do it When you want to come Relax don't do it When you want to come When you want to come

“Really J'dee really?" Toby shot her a look.

“What? I like classic one hit wonders."

“NEXT!" Toby shouted.

“Rise above distraction... rise." J'dee taunted.

Regardless she saw the glare directed at her.

J'dee grinned. “Hey whose the DJ here. My mp3 player so deal!"

She started scrolling through the list then grinned and she hit the play button for her newest evil selection. She was sure when the intro hit that Belle face palmed.

You got the touchYou got the powerAfter all is said and doneYou've never walked, you've never run,You're a winner

~*~*~*~

“That one's not too bad." Yuna said, smiling. “Better than some of that other stuff." She turned to Tobias who was smiling, a strange look in his eyes. “What is it Tobias?"

“I think I got it." Tobias said. He had to admit whenever he heard this song he always remembered the original Transformers movie. The scenes on the base and the fight, it always sent goosebumps up his back. Good memories from when he was a boy.

“You do?" Yuna said, startled. Tobias closed his eyes for a moment. He started murmuring the words to the song and felt a rush of heat move down his spine and then spread into his hands. His eyes snapped open and he point a few feet away from him.

Hellfire." Tobias hissed. The ground exploded in a plume of flame. A dark bestial growl issued from the fire and Irifit stepped out of the flames. His breath left a haze of heat and he threw back his arms to roar.

“Oh my God." Belle said, her eyes wide and J'dee let out a cheer.

“Okay that was awesome." Kaidan admitted while Rufus rolled his eyes. Yuna was smiling as she twirled her quarter staff to focus and summoned Valefor. The bird came soaring down to land by her and she climbed onto his back.

“Okay Tobias! Now that you can summon, you need to figure out how to work with them! Have Irifit try to hit me and Valefor!" Yuna called out as they took off.

Tobias turned to his large summons who growled.

“Uhhhh....shoot them?"

Irifit growled.

~*~*~*~

J'dee was looking up at the summons and she grinned. “That is so awesome I want one."

“Of course you would." Rufus rolled his eyes. “And what would you do with it?"

“World Domination of course." She grinned.

Rufus shot her a look that read 'Really?'

“But I've been told I'd make a horrible bad guy for that. I'm to nice."

“I've always been the better villain admit it." Belle added.

J'dee shrugged before nodding. “Yeah I get distracted by cute and cuddly things way to easy."

“And that my friend is your downfall." Belle commented.

J'dee sighed. “Yeah I'd see a bunny and know that no matter how much it multiples and could take over I'd want it as a pet cause it's cute and fluffy."

Rufus raised a brow before he turned back to continue watching the summons fight.

~*~*~*~

Belle stared at the Irifit and Tobias as they practiced their fire summoning. Her eyes met J’dee's and they shared a look.

“Woo hoo!" Belle cried at the same time J’dee let out a cry. Irifit sent a look to them and a fireball at Tobias’s behind. The two women dropped their jaws as the flames began to lap at Tobias’s rump. The two began to laugh before Tobias realized what was happening and began to cry out. Belle’s eyes began to tear and she doubled over laughing.

“HOT HOT HOT HOT!" Tobias screamed running around with the seat of his pants on fire. Belle and J'dee were too busy laughing to help and Rufus wasn't much better off.

“Stop drop and roll! Stop drop and roll!" Kaidan ordered. Tobias obeyed with enthusiasm, crashing to the ground and roll about madly. Irifit was watching with a bored expression as Yuna and Valefor landed.

“That's not really what I had in mind." Yuna said as she came over. Tobias was on his back, panting.

“Blame those two." Kaidan said, jerking a thumb at J'dee and Belle who were now clinging to each other in their laughter, not even able to stand in their mirth. “He and Irifit were just starting to get the hang of it when they distracted Tobias and Irifit aimed low."

“Very low apparently." Yuna said, dryly. She cast a Scan spell on Tobias who was now muttering something about evil women. She was relived when it reported no injuries. “Did you bring the spare bag of clothes like I suggested, Tobias?"

“Yeah, it's over by the pond. I'll go change." Tobias muttered as the laughter died down. He stood up and frowned in confusion when Belle and J'dee began to laugh hysterically again. Even Yuna giggled. “What?"

“I hope you brought underwear too." Kaidan said, looking away. “You're bare-assed too."

“Oh son of a-!"

It had been a good fifteen plus minus of the summons battling and J'dee was craving her two hour plus longer nicotine break.

“Okay I'll be back fill me in when I get back" J'dee mused.

“Where you off to?" Rufus asked.

“I'm moving away from the big flaming summons to go give my lungs cancer I'll be back." She stated to Rufus and moved away from the scene before Rufus could protest.

She reached a small section of forestry and lent against a tree lighting a cigarette.

J'dee could hear the roar and see the colored lights in the distance of the summon battle.

“Because that's not going to attract attention at all." She mused out loud.

J'dee stopped as she felt the temperature plummet suddenly and quickly. Goosebumps forming on the back of her neck and she pulled her collar up.

She could suddenly see her breath as steam and it wasn't the cigarette smoke.

The noise came from behind and she turned round in time to dodge the swipe of a ghost like hand from the sleeve of a transparent lab coat. Then the reflective glare off a pair of glasses.

J'dee saw the flash of white as Hojo charged her.

She let out a startled cry as she felt arms wrap around her. There was a flash as she saw the transparent inter-joined hexagons familiar of a MP barrier.

Hojo's spirit seemed to rebound off the MP barrier.

J'dee looked over her shoulder at Rufus.

“Idiot." He growled. “Don't go off on your own."

J'dee looked round and she saw the white lab coat vanish back into the shrubbery.

“That's it I'm getting another anti possession tattoo next week." She grumbled, “somewhere he can't get to it to break it."

The MP barrier was deactivated and J'dee felt Rufus' hand touch her arm.

“I'll stay here while you finish your addiction then we should really get back."

Belle sat on the grass and watched as Yuna and Toby battled their summons. It was impressive and Belle felt uncomfortable thinking about the fact that there were more of these things around in the world.

“Penny for your thoughts," Kaidan stated and Belle sighed as she looked at him as he sat down beside her.

“Summons are dangerous," Belle replied.

“That’s it?" Kaidan asked.

“You only offered a penny," she said as she watched the fire fly through the air. Kaidan chuckled.

“Seriously?" he asked.

“These things are loose in my world and I don’t care for that idea. I mean, we know that these things are real, but how many other people might accidentally run across a summons?" Belle muttered. “Irifit nearly killed us in his capture. What about people who might find one by accident with no idea what do to?"

“That’s why we need to pay attention and work hard to find them," Kaidan said and Belle sighed.

“This is just so real," Belle sighed.

“So this isn’t your heart’s desire?" Kaidan teased and Belle gave him a look.

“Not like this, that’s for sure," Belle sighed as she noticed that J’dee and Rufus were out of sight. “Hmm."

“What now?" Kaidan asked.

“Now this thought, I’m keeping to myself," Belle stated as she returned he attention to Tobias.

“Irifit fire a shot and then throw me up at her!" Tobias commanded. The Fire summon growled in acknowledgment and tossed a Fira spell up at Yuna. Then he scooped up his summoner up on one large paw and threw him at Valefor. Yuna blinked in surprise when Tobias landed on Valefor's back.

“What the-?"

“How goes it?" Tobias said cheekily. Then he turned to face the back of Valefor's head. “Sleep."

The Sleep spell hit Valefor point blank and the giant bird began to fall.

“TOOOOOOOOBBBBBBBBYYYYYYYY!" Yuna screamed, clutching Valefor's feathers.

“No worries!" Tobias shouted at her just as Irifit lept up to catch Valefor and his passengers. The Fire summon hit ground with loud thud and growled.

“Good catch!" Kaidan cheered from the sidelines. Yuna sighed but she was smiling.

“I think you got the hang of it." Yuna said. Tobias grinned at her.

“I take it I pass?"

~*~*~*~

“What is this?" Rufus asked as Belle poured drinks and sat them in front of each of them and a large pitcher in the middle of the table.

“A mixed drink," Belle stated.

“Which is why Yuna and Toby are missing," Kaidan stated and Belle nodded.

“Yuna is milking Tobias dropping her out of the sky by making him take her on another motorcycle ride. So while Toby takes her to borrow his friend's bike, we are all going to watch a bad horror movie and play a drinking game," Belle stated.

“Belle…" J’dee started and Belle gave her friend a withering look.

“I don’t care! You have been avoiding me for over two weeks now and I have had enough. You are my friend and I refuse to let you play this sulky, broody bitch fit any longer. If you won’t come out and tell your best friend what is going on, then I will get you so drunk you cannot remember what it is!" Belle snapped and J’dee blinked. “Don’t think I haven’t noticed that you are up to something either, Rufus Shinra, I am giving you both a warning. Something is up and I know it and don’t think I’m the only one." Kaidan chose that moment to nod in agreement.

“Belle…" J’dee started again and Belle gave her another look.

“You either tell me what is up your butt or you watch this stupid movie and drink," Belle stated and J’dee sighed before taking her glass. “That’s what I thought, but just know this, I will find out what is going on with you."

“What movie are we watching?" Kaidan asked and Belle smiled.

“Cabin in the Woods," Belle said. “A wonderfully bad horror movie, now follow the rules I will explain now." Belle began to list the simple rules and everyone sipped their drinks aware of the tension between the two women.

J’dee was sitting with her hand over her eyes to shield her eyes from the light of the television. She was sitting on the ground her back leaning against the couch.

“You're really a light weight you know that." Belle laughed.

“Ffffffffaaaaaaahck you." J'dee drawled.

Rufus watched as J'dee's cat walked into the lounge.

Tiger then sat down right in front of J'dee unblinking. The cat began to stare at her.

“Oh so that's how it's gunna be huh? Staring competition. I will beat you ya know." J'dee pointed at her cat. Who in return just rubbed up against the pointed finger.

“Ha I win!"

Belle just laughed. “How long has it been since you actually seriously had a drink?"

J'dee thought for a moment. “uhhh... before the earthquake?" She offered lamely

“How many has she had?" Rufus asked.

“Three." Kaidan replied. “At least she's a cheap drunk?" He offered.

“Round two! FIGHT!" J'dee announced.

Rufus looked to J'dee trying to win a second staring competition with her cat.

“You should at least tell Belle if she isn't, even if it's just about you know."

Rufus let out a breath. “And get another threat of death?"

“Hey I was told you were used to it by now." Kaidsn teased.

“Tell me what?" Belle asked.

Rufus just sighed. “Fine but leave out the death threats because Toby has already been there."

~*~*~*~

Belle groaned as she covered her head with a pillow.

“So how much did you drink last night?" Tobias called from the hallway.

“Shut up," Belle groaned.

“Thanks," Tobias muttered. “For having Yuna distract me."

“No problem," Belle stated.

“So are you going to get out of bed?" Tobias asked.

“If you don’t go away I am going to puke," Belle groaned.

~*~*~*~

J'dee walked down the stairs and she began to make herself a hot drink and then popped the toast into the toaster.

She looked at Rufus leaning on the table for once head propped into his hand a fresh cup of espresso coffee and an empty plate from his breakfast.

“Morning!" She chirped. He flinched and then looked at her with a glare. “What?" She asked.

“Your friend, challenged me to a drinking competition." Rufus stated.

“Wait! Are you the almighty Rufus Shinra hung over?" J'dee laughed.

Rufus shot her a look. “I swear..." He began.

The toaster popped and J'dee bounced off. He groaned.

J'dee buttered her toast and brought it back to the table and sat down with her hot chocolate.

“You should have really eaten more at dinner before drinking. I find rice is a good carb that takes the stodge of the alcohol away." She stated.

“You're still a light weight." Rufus complained.

“I've had only three hang overs in my entire life." J'dee stated.

Rufus looked at her. “If Kaidan isn't hung over then you're both freaks." He grumbled.

J'dee raised a brow. “Yeah I only drink three drinks max because anymore my body doesn't handle it and I'm hugging the toilet, but if I throw up before bed no hang over in the morning either."

Rufus looked at her. “Well while you were drunk, Kaidan informed me I needed to tell Belle about us."

J'dee froze. She looked at him. “And you live?"

Rufus shot her a look. “I lived after Toby threatened me as well." He stated.

“Wait what?" J'dee blinked looking at Rufus. Rufus had said they had a talk. Obviously it was more than that now, she realized. “So how much did you tell her and Toby."

“After a few... everything. I told Belle about Hojo, the sex magic used to remove him from you, that there may be something going on between us that we're not sure on. Toby I mentioned your possession and the sex magic This sort of thing shouldn't be kept from them."

J'dee frowned. “The man of secrets spills mine, why would you-?"

“Because if we don't get rid of him before I go, who do you think he's going to torment?" Rufus looked at her with a glare.

J'dee caught the look and she picked up a piece of toast and took a bite chewing on it slowly.

Rufus had a point.

A very valid point.

She was like a beacon for all that kind of stuff. So if Hojo could do it once, he could do it again and she probably would never get her life back again.

“I wish I knew what he wanted." She sighed. “Apart from a life." J'dee added.

Rufus shook his head. “It can't be good."

J'dee nodded. “I should get a summon he wouldn't be able to get inside if I had a summon. Right?"

Rufus looked at her. “Now that I'm not sure of. This is a new way of summoning for me. I'm used to materia even then Hojo was able to tinker with a few of them. Imagine what he would do inside you and you had a summon."
