Chapter 2

Sephiroth and Vincent raced towards Edge, night had long fallen and the only light was from that of the moon. It had been six hours since the girls had been taken. Something was wrong, they should have already been at edge. The seemed to be going around in circles.

“We should have been there by now,” Vincent said, as they passed a cliff that he swore they had passed before. Sephiroth stopped and landed on the ground, something was near. He mentally swore at not realizing it sooner. The aura was that of the valley near Heather and Vincent’s place.

Sephiroth growled, eyes glowing red as a dark aura began to surround him. Vincent realized what was going to happen and jumped behind a large boulder. Sephiroth let loose a huge amount of energy waves in every direction. Vincent heard a crackling sound of metal being crushed above the boulder he was behind.  As the energy faded, a camera-like machine crashed to the ground, the circuits fried.

Vincent walked out and picked up the machine, “we’ve been under surveillance. They were using materia to power the machines and create an aura that makes us return to this spot.” He looked around, there were other machines further along the way, Sephiroth’s energy and fried all their circuits.

“Let’s go,” Sephiroth replied coldly, he was now beyond pissed. He moved in a blur towards edge, a dark purple aura burning around him. Vincent dropped the camera and followed, whoever was in charge was in for a living hell. For they had pissed off an extremely angry Sephiroth, he had a feeling heads were going to roll.

“You’re fucking crazy if you think I’m going to let you use me to get to Sephiroth,” Maria snapped at Akuma.

“Now, now my dear,” Akuma warned, a hand over the computer panel. “We wouldn’t want anything to happen to your friend, now do we.” A picture of the cells appeared, Heather stood pacing in the cell.

“You’ll be in big trouble if you harm her,” Maria hissed angrily, eyes beginning to glow.

“Then how about you corporate,” Akuma chuckled, “you can either give me what I want. Or you can watch your friend whither in pain.”

Maria growled, eyes glowing in anger, she had to somehow stall for enough time for Sephiroth and Vincent to show. She clenched her fist, praying that it works. If she could get close enough to the panel, she could unlock Heather’s cell. Swallowing she walked towards Akuma while swaying her hips. Mentally she was cursing, but she had to get close to the panel. Akuma looked at her, watching her through half-closed eyes.

“What’s the matter Akuma?” Maria asked innocently, continuing towards him. “Like what you see?”

Akuma ran his eyes up and down her body, a smirk on his lips, “so you choose to come to my side.”

Maria smiles, rolling her shoulder while continue to sway her hips, “I only choose the winning side.” A few more steps, only a few more steps till she could reach the computer panel.

Akuma smirked, “wise of you to choose my side, because I always get what I want.”

Maria’s eyebrow twitched, she hated this more than anything. Her eyes landed on the computer panel, before looking back at Akuma. Akuma was too busy watching her hips though. She smiled innocently as she stepped next to him, her left hand caressing his chin. His eyes closed as he let out a small sigh, carefully she used her right hand to type. She smiled in triumph when Heather’s cell door began to open.  However, an alarm sounded through out the building.

Akuma’s eyes flew open as he grabbed her wrist, “clever trick, distracting me while you try to free your friend. However, you made one minor mistake, everything needs a code that only activates by my voice.”

His grip tightened, Maria growled and tried to pull away, “let go of me.”

“Now why would I do that,” Akuma smirked, tightening his grip. He hit a button on the panel and a door to the right opened. Akuma dragged Maria towards it and threw the door.

Maria’s eyes widened, the door opened to a bedroom. A queen-size bed sat against the wall near a sliding door balcony. Lasers were erected on the balcony, destroying anything that got to close to the doors. Maria began to struggle as he dragged her towards the bed.

“Try as hard as want, but I know without that damn bracelet you can’t use your powers,” Akuma laughed, as he threw her onto the bed.

“Go to hell,” Maria hissed, kicking him in the groin. He let out a roar of pain as she went to escape to the door, she cried as he pulled her back on the throat.

“I won’t be the on going to hell,” he snarled angrily, eyes glowing red. “You will after I’ve had my fun.” Maria managed a scream before he knocked her beside the head.

Hundreds of soldiers burst into flames as Sephiroth landed on the grounds of Edge. With one slash he destroyed the robotic machines that were sent at him. Vincent shot down the soldiers that were racing towards them, spinning his cerebus gun. His metal claw slashed through them, the ground bathed in blood. He jumped onto one of the robotic machines, pulling out the wires as she shot the mainframe engine that made the run.

Meanwhile, soldier after soldier fell at Sephiroth’s sword. His sword was covered in blood, blood splattered his armor and face. His eyes glowing a deadly purple as he moved swiftly through the ranks. Suddenly a scream filled the area, his head snapping up at the sound. A solider took advantage and fired at a missile. Vincent landed in front of Sephiroth, catching the missile in his claw and sending it back at the soldiers.

“That was Maria, go to her!” He yelled, shooting down the soldiers who were starting to bring out missiles. “I’ll get Heather and meet up with you!”

With a nod Sephiroth disappeared in a burst of speed, a cloud dark energy surrounding him. Vincent watched the mako-filled man, knowing that if Maria was hurt that Sephiroth would put the person through a fate worse then death. Turning he raced into the building, following Heather’s energy.

Maria struggled against Akuma, her head pounding from the blow across the head. Lights were flashing behind her eyelids from the pain. Akuma just smirked, “you can’t escape and there is no one here to help you.”

As Akuma went to move his hand under her shirt, an explosion erupted from the balcony.  Sephiroth stepped through the smoke, purple energy coming off him in waves. The energy crackling, anger burning in his eyes. He looked like a silent but deadly hunter that was about to take out it’s prey.

“Sephiroth!” Maria yelled, as Akuma pulled out a gun and aimed it at him.

“Say goodbye to your lover,” Akuma growled, “these spirit bullets can take out anything.” A burst of green energy shot at Sephiroth. Sephiroth merely lifted an arm and knocked the beam aside. Walking towards Akuma, Akuma’s eyes widened at the anger flowing off Sephiroth. He gasped in pain as Sephiroth’s claw wrapped around his throat.

“No one takes what is mine,” Sephiroth replied, voice deadly soft. Sephiroth threw Akuma into the air and in one swift motion, his sword sliced through Akuma. Akuma’s eyes widened at the sword prodding through his chest. Akuma’s body fell to the ground, staining the floor with blood.

Sephiroth turned and lifted Maria off the bed, holding tightly against. Maria wrapped arms around his neck, burying her face against his chest. She had seen the look in Sephiroth’s eyes, and regretted any doubts that she had ever had against his love. He did love her, he proved it when he saved her.

Vincent and Heather looked up as Sephiroth entered the control room. The deadly aura coming off Sephiroth made Vincent guess that Akuma was no longer…living.

“Maria are you alright!?” Heather cried when she saw Maria, she ran over.

Maria’s eyes were still closed with her head against Sephiroth’s chest, “yes…I’ve been through worse.”

Sephiroth’s arms tightened, Vincent walked over, “what happened?”

Sephiroth turned, as Vincent saw a glint of regret in Sephiroth’s eyes. Sephiroth’s voice was it’s normal coldness, but laced with regret, “I nearly lost something that can’t be replaced.”

“You mean he tried to rape her!!” Heather yelled, eyes wide. Vincent placed a hand against his head as Sephiroth winced, Heather could be soo blunt sometimes.

“Maybe was should just go,” Vincent said, as Heather looked around wondering what she said wrong.
