The nightmares always started around this time. The deep purple sky, the blue lightening, the screams of the victims. Always smiling as I brought my Gunblade down upon each and every one of their necks. She always smiled at my acts to prove my worthiness - always smiled at how stupid I was.

I got what I deserved, I guess. I willingly served a Sorceress that embodied evil. I attempted to kill the people that I grew up with… Hyne, I succeeded in chopping up a few of them. So now here I am, stuck in the deepest, darkest pit Puberty-Boy and the others could put me in, rotting away with nothing but my memories to keep me company.

'Darling you've got full control of your puppet'

'Pull another string and I'll kiss your lips, I'm your puppet'

'Snap your finger and I'll turn you some flips, I'm your puppet'

Why I have nightmares about my acts as the Sorceress Knight I will never know. I knew what I was doing. I never wanted it to end. I was somebody for a while - not an annoying bully whose life work was to fail the SeeD exam over and over again, to the amusement of one bitchy instructor.

My Father told me before he died that "Violence is the way of the Gods. They get ticked at somebody - Boom! Away they go." I guess he figured that violence was okay for him too, if the Gods used it all of the time. We sure felt it, since he decided that family was the best punching bag.

I still see my Mistress in my dreams. I gave her my soul when I promised her my sword, and she has taken full advantage of it. It has come to the point that I fear sleep - since I go to a place where Ultimicia has control over everything. I think she has made it her life's - or death's as it may - work to make the rest of mine a living hell, as she is convinced that I failed her.

Make me do right or make me do wrong, I'm your puppet

Sometimes I wonder what Rinoa and Puberty-Boy are doing, all the way up top their little safe tower in the sky. I never loved Rinoa to the extent that I should have, but I did care for her… and it is just my luck that the wimp got her in the end.

Hehe… It would serve him right if she started an affair with Instructor Aki.

When I saw them together at the final battle, I was sickened. She clung to him like he was the reason she was breathing, and he the same to her. I find it completely impossible that two people who have only known each other for maybe a month or two could get that dependant.

'Yeah, I'm your puppet

The greater good always comes out on top, or so it is taught in school and church - but I never paid attention to either. I was born to fight and kill - I got to do just that. But there was a price. I was defeated, I am a loser, I am dead.

'I'm hanging on a string girl, I'll do anything now

I'm a walking, talking, living, loving puppet, and I love you

I'm a smiling happy face when you want me to

Even make you happy when you're feeling blue'

If I got out again, what would I do? That is what Cid asked me when he was deciding my fate.

Author Notes:

This fic has little to no point, so I'm just gonna be satisfied for the moment and continue on my break. I do have intentions of continuing FF VIII 2 and the others, as well as posting a few more - but right now I am swamped with my community and studies (Why I chose programming as a career path I will never know)
