Where is Vincent?

“I thought Vincent said he was going to finish the walkway…”, Dietrich mutters under her breath as she balances the groceries and herself being careful not to slip and fall, “He said that an hour ago, and the shoveling isn't any farther than when I left…”

 

She pushes the door open.

 

“Lucrecia! Vincent! I'm back!”, she calls out, closing the door behind herself.

 

She puts the groceries down to remove her coat and hung it up onto the hook beside Vincent's coat and scarf.

 

“Where is he…?”, she whispers, when Vincent doesn't return her call.

 

She proceeds to put the groceries away, and heads up stairs to search for her superior-officer.

 

“Vincent?”, she questions, approaching the door to his room and she could hear sobbing coming from inside, “Vincent?”

 

She pushes the door open and sees Lucrecia kneeling on the floor with Vincent's gun in her lap and she was crying into one of his neatly-folded shirts.

 

“Lucrecia…? What wrong? Where's Vincent?”, Dietrich asks, rushing to the doctor's side.

 

“H-he's g-gone…”, she sobs.

 

“Gone? What do you mean he's gone?”

 

“H-he's gone… L-like…”, Lucrecia buries her face into Vincent's shirt making her words muffled and unrecognizable to what she had said.

 

“What…?”

 

“What she is saying is, the `Boy' has vanished without a trace”, Hojo states from the doorway.

 

“I wasn't asking you, Hojo! I was asking Lucrecia!”, Dietrich spat.

 

“I'm only telling the truth”, he shrugs, “Now I should get back to my newest experiment…”, he loudly adds to himself, as he walks down the hall.

 

At Hojo's added comment, Lucrecia starts sobbing harder.

 

Dietrich could only sigh, know that with Lucrecia in this state she wouldn't get any answers.

 

`Vincent… Where are you?', she thinks, heading downstairs to make herself some hot-chocolate.

Vincent just floats in the darkness, relishing the moment of peacefulness and being free of pain.

 

“Lucrecia…”

 

His thought echoed in the darkness, he could sense that there was something else now in the darkness with him, but it wasn't conscious.

 

So Vincent began to let his mind wander to when he first met the beautiful scientist.

 

 

-Flashback-

 

“Vincent Valentine reporting for duty, ma'am. I have been assigned your protection”, he says, reported in.

Lucrecia gasps, “No...”

“Huh?”

“Why would they send his...”, she mutters to herself.

“Excuse me?”

“Oh! I apologize. This is the first time I have ever met anyone from the Turks”, she hurriedly says, “Lucrecia Crescent”, she introduces, extending her hand out to him, “Pleased to make your acquaintance, Mr. Valentine”, she smiles.

 

-End Flashback-

 

 

He then let's his mind wander to his favorite-spot underneath the tree.

 

 

-Flashback-

 

“…ent...”, someone calls, “Vincent...”

“Vincent...”, Lucrecia's voice clearly whispers.

 

Vincent is lying on a grassy field beneath a tree, he blinks his eyes open and looks at her.

 

“Fall asleep here, and you might catch a cold”.

He sits up quickly, startled.

 

“Why are you so surprised? Is my face that hideous?”

 

“No. I didn't... I'm sorry”, he apologizes.

 

“And how are you supposed to be my bodyguard if you're up here sleeping?”

 

“The warm breeze... I was only going to rest my eyes for a minute”.

 

“Well, I have to admit, the breeze is quite comfortable”, she says, looking at the surroundings, “However... I think you're in my seat”, she giggles.

 

“Huh?”

 

Lucrecia pulls a picnic basket out from behind her back.

 

“Care to join me?”, she asks, smiling.

 

-End Flashback-

 

 

“Oh how I wish I could go back to that moment…”

 

He shudders as a jolt of pain shot through his body again.

 

“Then…

I'd at least be happy…”

 

He thought as he began to slip into unconsciousness again from the pain, as the other thing in the darkness awoken.
