Chapter 5: The New Kid
Leo ran down the dark street where his house was. He looked around frantically; making sure nothing was following him. Soon, he arrived in front of his house and felt a sense of relief when he saw the car sitting in his driveway. He slowed to a walk and went into his house.
"Leo?? WHERE WERE YOU!?" Garnet suddenly said, running down the hallway.
"I was at the mall with everyone-" Leo started, but was interrupted.
"You're supposed to phone!!" Garnet interrupted.
"I came home!" Leo pleaded. "But nobody was home!! How was I supposta know?"
"We left a message at your school…" Garnet replied.
"I never got it…" Leo answered.
At Balamb High…
"Leo Tribal, can you PLEASE come to the office for your message?!" The announcement continued. The secretary had been calling him since school ended.
"Leo Tribal, come to the office…."
"Leo Tribal, COME TO THE OFFICE!!"
"LEO, GET YOUR MONKEY TAIL TO THE OFFICE NOW!!"
~*~*~
Garnet shrugged and walked off.
"Your supper is in oven, keeping warm." She said, walking back down the hall. Leo walked up the stairs and saw his dad watching T.V in the living room. Actually, he was snoring on the couch. There was no use to try to wake him up, he'd just say he's not sleeping.
"Great!" Leo called to his mom. "I haven't eaten in a while, Orion ate most my lunch again." He went over and opened the oven to find….meatloaf. Urgh! This always happens! Whenever you're STARVING and haven't eaten all day, you end up eatin' something gross for supper…It's been proven by teenagers all over the world. "Aww mom, is there anything BESIDES meatloaf??" Garnet shook her head and was about to speak. Aww here it comes, the 'Poor Children in some foreign country' speech.
"Leo, think about the poor kids in Conde Petie that never get food." Garnet said. Leo guessed right. "Be happy you have food before you, no matter what it is."
"Aww. You're such a mom." Leo smiled and took out the meatloaf and sat at the table. Just looking at it made his stomach turn. He looked around to see no one in the kitchen except him, and his lion/tiger pet, Red XIII. He looked up and could smell the meatloaf. Leo noticed no one looking so he 'accidently' spilled all of his meatloaf. Red XIII immediately ate up the evidence and Leo patted his head. "Good boy."
He put the plate by the sink and scanned the fridge for some food. He soon found some old Kraft Dinner and put it in the microwave. Once it was done he grabbed a fork and put ketchup on it and went downstairs to watch some T.V.
***
The next morning, Leo awoke to the sound of the T.V. His eyes shot open and he saw the empty bowl of Kraft Dinner lying on the floor. He fell asleep the night before while watching T.V. He looked at the clock. 9:15.
"NO!! NOW I'M DEFINITELY LATE!!" Leo screamed, running up the stairs. He saw his mom sitting on the couch, with her arms wrapped around her legs as she watched T.V. "Mom? Why didn't you get me up?!"
"Uhh wha-?" She turned to her son. "Leo!! Get off to school NOW! You're late, and your dad left with the car to work already…"
"Yeah, and you didn't get me up because…?" Leo asked, hurridly putting on his shoes.
"You weren't in your room…." She stated. "I thought you must've gotten up early and went off somewhere before school." She said. Leo rolled his eyes and ran out the door.
"Well whatever, see ya mom…love ya!" He said running out the door and onto his skateboard to school. Garnet let out an evil giggle.
"That's what you get for feeding the pet my meatloaf." She said under her breath as she continued watching T.V.
Once Leo got to school, he saw that the halls were empty. He ran to his locker and got his books and rushed off to Science class. He walked in the door and saw the teacher standing at the board.
"Well Mr. Tribal, it's nice to see you decided to join us…" He said, trying to make the class laugh but failed horribly. There was a silence, as no one was paying attention. One of the geeky kids started laughing. Leo rolled his eyes and went to his seat to see Draco sitting in it.
"Outta my seat!" Leo threatened, trying to sound tough. Draco ignored him. He was sitting beside Erin, and they were talking. Erin kept giggling. "I said: OUTTA MY SEAT!" Draco turned around with an annoyed look on his face.
"Leo, it's okay for us not to sit together today…" Erin said, trying not to start a commotion. "Don't worry, you'll always be my main man." She joked.
"B-b-b-but…" Leo started, dumbfounded. "But….I brought the cardboard cookies!!" Leo said, holding up his bag of his and Erin's favourite kind of cookies.
"We'll eat them at lunch." She assured.
"But-"
"LEO!" She said. Now she was starting to get annoyed. "Go sit down!!" Leo walked down the aisle quietly. He noticed the only empty seat was beside April.
"C-can I sit here, April?" He asked. She didn't reply. He noticed her listening to her headphones really loud. "APRIL! CAN I SIT HERE?" April opened one of her eyes and noticed Leo gawking at her as she was head banging. She let out a nervous smile as she turned beet red. She turned off her headphones.
"Huh?" She asked.
"Can I sit here?" He repeated. April sighed.
"I guess so…" She said, moving her books off of the empty desk. Leo slammed his binder down and sat with his feet in the air.
"Thanks!" He replied. "So how was the Punk Show last night?"
"Huh?" April turned to him. "Oh, it was fine…Did you manage to get into your house?" Leo kinda blushed.
"Uhh no…" He replied. April laughed a bit. "I just went over to Orion's house." He said. April nodded her head in understandment.
"Nice." She replied. Then they were quiet as Leo could hear the teacher blabbing in the background. He scanned over the classroom and noticed Aiko sitting near the back.
What's Aiko doing here? He thought. "Psst!" He whispered, trying to get Aiko's attention. "Pssssst!!" He went a bit louder. "PSSSSSSSSST!!!"
"Do you mind?!" April interrupted. "I'm pretending to pay attention! It's kind of hard when some monkey dude's spittin' in your ear!"
"Ehehehe. Sorry." Leo said. "I won't do it again." He turned around and faced the front. After about a minute he turned around in his chair again. "PSSSSSSSSSST AIKO!!" April's eye twitched. Finally though, he caught Aiko's attention. "What are you doing here?" He whispered. She gave him a confused look. She shrugged and pointed at her ear. "What are you doing here??" He whispered a bit louder and slower so she could read his lips.
She gave him another puzzled look.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?!" He stood up and yelled.
"Oooooooooh." Aiko said and started writing a note.
"Leo!!" The teacher shot. "Sit down and be quiet!!" Leo listened and sat down. He immediately turned around to see what Aiko was doing. She was….writing?! "Leo!! I'd like to see your face facing front so I can see what you look like! You haven't been facing the front all morning, I know what your back looks like now."
"Eek!" Leo whispered. "Creeper…" Leo obediently turned around.
"That's better." The teacher smiled. "Now class, I have something to tell you…" Suddenly, Leo could feel something hit him in the head. He immediately grabbed it and noticed it was a paper plane. He turned around and saw Aiko giggling. He unfolded the paper and read it.
Hey Leo! I had to come into this class because I was supposedly "terrorizing" the other class! Sheesh eh? THIS'LL BE FUN! I'M IN THE BACK!!
C ya later,
-Aiko-
PS - behave with April. LOL. ^_^
Leo crunched up the paper and threw it into his desk. His clean, no scribbles desk. It made him sick, knowing that Draco Felton was sitting in HIS desk, and looking at all HIS drawings.
"Leo, can you repeat what I just said?" The teacher said, catching Leo not paying attention again.
"Ummm, uhhh…." Leo started.
"That's what I thought." The teacher replied. "Class, we're getting a new kid today!" There was a hushed whisper going around the classroom. "His name is Cleo Jecht. Please welcome him nicely to Balamb High."
Erin tried whispering to Leo.
"Hey Leo!" She started. He turned around. "Perfect spit ball material!" She giggled. Leo started laughing, but April elbowed him in the stomach.
"Shush!" She said. Then, someone came into the classroom with short black hair, a green hoody, and baggy jeans. Aiko immediately recognized the guy. He was the one that was being bullied at the mall the night before.
"Cleo, you can sit in the back beside Aiko." He said. He nodded his head nervously and went to sit beside her. Aiko stared at him with wide eyes and fell to the ground.
"…" Cleo was quiet. Leo started laughing, even though he didn't know it was the same kid Aiko was talking about the night before. Leo got out his spitball shooter and chewed on a piece of paper and blew it out. It missed Cleo completely and his Draco right in the eye.
"Ehehe oops." Leo said, slouching down in his chair.
"AH!" Draco screamed. "WHO did that?" He yelled. The quiet was quiet. All except Leo, who was 'innocently' whistling. "Tribal, your goin' down." He said. Then, the class continued, with the exception of Aiko who was still passed out on the floor in the back.
"Haha, that was awesome Leo!" April whispered to him, and gave him a high five.
"Hehe, thanks." Leo said sounding a bit scared.
"Don't worry 'bout Draco, he's most likely all talk." April assured.
"Oooh, you've fought him?" Leo asked.
"No." April replied, and started working on the science questions they were assigned. "But no worries Leo, I think you can do it." She said. Leo turned a bit red and started working on his questions too.
