Chapter 2.
"AAaahhh!!!" Seifer moaned as he came inside of Zell then wrapped him up into his arms. "Gods I needed that. Leonhart is a commanding prick." He breathed rolling over but pulling Zell with him so that he was on top then, grabbing a cigarette he lit it and took a drag from it.
"Ha, he wouldn't be doing his job if he weren't." Zell said practically swallowing an out blown puff of smoke. He liked the smell sure but he didn't exactly have plans to second hand smoke eight packs a day.
He got up from the bed and wandered to the bathroom saying as he went. "Where is Squall anyway? I didn't see him come in with you."
Seifer followed him with his eyes until he saw the door crack behind him so he could hear his reply. "He stayed behind to wrap things up like a good little boy, where he goes after that-......who cares." He took another puff and got up himself joining Zell in the bathroom closing the door. "Shower time." He breathed gently in his ear.
* * *
"Lets add a little vodka to that grapefruit juice, huh?" An unfamiliar mans voice was saying. "Yeeeeeah." A woman said to agree with him.
'Where am I?' Squall's subconscious asked.
A scene began to unfold in front of his eyes only the color was messed up and done over in faded orange coloring. His eyes skimmed the room that he was shown and looking in, he saw a man and a woman in a raggedy looking home- big though- as if even though it were crummy on the inside it would have looked nice at one point because of the neighborhood it was in. He also took notice to a little girl reading in the corner of the room.
'The wind and the willow.' He said to himself mentally.
"Hey," the man called to the little girl. "you goin' keep yer head in them books all day or are you gonna come have a drink with me and your mother?" He was a thin man but with a beer belly and his hair was a mess on his head and thinning. The woman was something all her own. She looked as though she acted older than she was and her face was pretty but completely miss matched to her body which was meaty yet banged up from what must have been her own doing.
The little girl looked up from her book for a second then back down to it. "Didn't choo hear me?" The man asked obviously dissatisfied with her answer.
"Leave her alone." The woman finally interrupted pouring herself a glass of the grape fruit juice vodka mixture.
"No, now I wanna learn the kid some thing's..." he said walking over to her and kneeling down beside her. "Now, if I was to ask for a grape fruit juice with vodka what would they call it?" He waited beside her and the woman was asking him over again.
"Leave her alone."
"No no I wanna hear her say it, now."
'What a jerk.' Squall thought watching the man shove his drink under her nose. The girl's lips began to move and she replied to him. "A grey hound." Her voice was tiny and distant making Squall feel something for her- who ever she was, and she kept a stern grip on the book as though. if it were out of her hands she would literally die right then.
"All right, if you're so damn smart then what is a tomato based drink with cherries in it?"
The girl swallowed trying to think then she answered. "A bloody mary." The woman instantly broke into laughter and started clapping her hands together.
"I told you she was smart, you see there are brains behind those baby blue eyes."
They both laughed loudly and the girl went back to her book. "Maybe she does have brains..." the man was saying when there was a knock on the door interrupting him. He strolled over to it saying. "Who the fuck could that be?" When the door opened a man and a woman were standing before him with huge put on grins.
"Hiii, we're the Nelson's we just moved in down the street." The man smiled widely and invited them in. "Well what a-...." The woman trailed off not really knowing what to say about the place.
They had entered in through the kitchen door and there was really nothing to look at but a table and a view of an arm chair from the living room. "Quaint." Her husband offered.
"Well isn't that nice the Nelson's from down the street....." The woman smiled at her lover and he turned to the little girl.
"Hey Chyna?" He said. "You ever see death up close?"
When she turned around to see what he was talking about she watched as the man pull a western python revolver from his pants and start shooting, laughing insanely as he emptied the rounds into them both. Her mother was laughing as well and shaking her head but the little girl just looked in horror. "Noooooo." Another shot was fired off then another and-
Squall's eyes snapped open and he was panting. 'Was that a dream?' He asked himself. 'But it felt so real.....' he looked around the room for the residents of the house but they weren't there, in fact he was in a different room altogether! Feeling the weight on the floor being lighter then when he was in the music room. 'What the-....?' He stood up shakily and looked around the room lazily with his eyes after shaking the sleep from his head he heard screams from down the hall in one of the other bed rooms.
He snapped into attention and ran to see what was going on but as he neared the exit of the door he quickly dashed behind it because whom ever was causing the commotion in the house walked out of the bed room right then. Squall peeked around the door when he heard the foot steps fade away down the stairs and he walked light footed down the hall to the girls bed room.
When he got in there he wasn't the least bit surprised to see her lying in a pool of blood, but he was shocked to see her chained to the bed, lying on her stomach and crying gently but painfully. "Help my parents." She whispered in a strangled voice.
"Laura, who did this to you ,did you see him?" Squall asked trying to undo the chains from around her.
"Ehhnnn, he's coming baack, ahuuh." She cried from the pain closing her eyes. Squall spun himself around on a knee looking at the door.
He heard the man whistling in the halls coming towards the room, without knowing what he was doing or why he slid under the bed, his gun blade sliding along with him seconds before the man walked into the room. He was heavy footed as he walked and from the way he was whistling he seemed to have all day. 'I have to call Garden.' Squall thought then caught his breath as the man dropped a very big shot gun that Irvine would only describe as, Damn.
Where as he had an awesome shot he wasn't ready for that kind of fire power. His brain was still fried from that dream he'd had as though it were implanting itself in his mind as real.
"Lets you and me get out of here, hmm?" The man said stooping to pick his gun up but hesitated a moment as though he might have known someone were under the bed. He must have figured there was nothing there because he then picked Laura up off the bed. The chains around her body rattled as he lifted her and walked her out of the room.
Squall slid out from under the bed and walked over to the phone picking it up. 'Dead.' He ran into the hall and saw the mans shadow turn the corner to leave the house. Squall ran to the room he had waken up in and looked out the window; there was an RV parked outside and the guy was getting into it with Laura.
'I've got to do something.' He thought walking out of the room quietly, something made him go down the hall further to look for the parents room. It was night time now, he had been in the house for hours it seemed, asleep. The parents in question were dead beyond belief, he couldn't even describe the way they looked right now.
He heard a sudden crash in another part of the house and ran back to the room he'd been in before and looked out the window down below. From that window he could see directly into the music room at the piano where Tommy was still sitting. Only he wasn't moving and as the thought passed his mind to go down there the guy appeared in the view and he knelt down in front of the boy. 'I wish I knew what they were saying.' He thought looking harder down below to read the mans lips.
"Yeah- well, I told you didn't I?" The man said. "....Now my only problem is how to present you..... now, I could- I could," he paused for a second then went on. "cut your hands up with your cd's but that wouldn't be very poetic now would it?"
'What is this guy getting at?' Squall wondered.
"Come on Tommy, give us one last song hmm?" He held the boys hands and started slamming them against the keys rather hard until finally he hit a sharp note and let them go. He pulled a knife from his pocket and flipped it around in his hand, then with one quick motion he slashed his knuckles right across on both hands. Squall had to turn his vision away from that but he missed the reason to why there was a flash in the room seconds later.
Turning his vision back to the scene he saw the man press a picture to Tommy's lips and leave the room. Squall moved from the window and started down the stairs and outside of the house, when he realized something- 'The lion. Where did I-...?' He thought for a moment. 'It was still upstairs it must have slid from out of its sheath when I was under the bed, there's no time to get it now though that guy is getting away.'
He ran into the kitchen hearing the door open again and he hid behind a counter table. The man walked right past the area and back upstairs. Squall took a large knife from a wood block and ran outside to the RV. 'I know I'm gonna regret this.' He thought opening the door on the side of the vehicle and hopped inside closing it behind him. "Laura?" He called lowly. "Laura?" He went to the way back of the big gray metal vehicle and saw the girl on the bed.
Inside the house the man had stopped in the kitchen and started washing his hands in the sink when he looked out the window and noticed a spider on its web. The spider was still but the web was moving with out a gust of wind even blowing through the cool fall air. "Hunh?" The man said lowly and walked outside climbing into his RV.
When he was inside he skimmed it with his eyes from front to back and walked to the end of it where the small bed room was located. Squall tensed himself waiting for the fight that he knew would come, only the man didn't open the door his hand froze mid way and he smiled shaking his head as if thinking no one could possibly be back there but Laura. With that he walked back up front and started the vehicle and moved it down the road.
"It's okay Laura," Squall was saying to her dead body. "I'll get help for your family and stop this guy, okay?" He huddled himself into a corner and sat there quietly waiting for the moment the man would get home and go in back spotting Squall where he would kill him on the spot or turn him in to the police, and with the way he felt right then choice number one was the only option.
