Chapter 5.
The little woman Squall had stopped on the road pulled up at a gas station and got out of her car. "....Heeelp....somebody heeelp him!" She called as she ran to the big glass doors and peeked inside;. As her vision skimmed the darkness she saw the boy and the store owner dead on the floor. "Aaahhh!!!!" She screamed holding her chest to steady her heart beat.
"I need a phone..." She said to herself walking to the pay phone but it was yanked brutally from the wall and useless now. "Oh fiddle sticks..." She got back into her car and drove further down the road to search for another gas station or phone on the side of the road.

Irvine had just arrived at the house after borrowing Seifer's car; he parked it harshly on the curb and scrunched his eyes grinning to himself when he saw that he could park it. Since his driving skills were less than good. "That wasn't so bad." He climbed out and ran to the house checking the address before walking in. The front door of the place was already hung open and he was instantly worried that somewhere with in the home would be Squall lying dead.
"Hello?!" He called to anyone that might still be in there and hear him- good or bad- he was going to find his love. He walked around the clean home seeing nothing to lead to any clues of what happened. It just looked as though the place were abandoned. "Hellooo?" He called again as he reached the stairs, this time he did see something.
'Blood.' He touched it to his finger and some rubbed off but not much. 'This must have been put here hours ago maybe yesterday,' and after using his last scan on him he sighed with relief. 'it's not Squalls.' But that still didn't tell him where he was so he walked upstairs and searched the rooms.
"Holy Hyne! What the hell happened to you?" He said when he saw the residents of the house. He walked over to the man and woman disheveled on their bed and turned the man over, gasped and jumped back. Half the skin on his face was missing and Irvine could only imagine what happened to his wife. "Gods this is bad." He heard a tiny noise behind him in another room. He pulled out his Exeter and held it aside as he walked down the hall towards the sound.
Just as he rounded the corner a man stepped out of the darkness. "Freeze!" They both said to each other Irvine holding his shot gun straight out with one hand and the man holding a tiny hand gun in the other. "Now lets see whose got the stupid advantage." Irvine said and the man recognized his voice.
"You're a SeeD aren't you?" He asked.
"Who wants to know?" Irvine said not dropping his guard. The man walked into the dim light of the window shining open with early morning blue. "Ted?" Irvine said when he noticed the face.
................................
The Dollet city police were all over the place now checking it out while Irvine and Ted stood aside watching. "So Squall's been missing since yesterday afternoon?" He asked him and Irvine nodded.
"I'm looking to find him too, even if it's gonna be by myself....but what are you doing here I thought you were in Galbadia?" He couldn't help but ask, this guy was a student there at one point and now this.
"Yeah well, after that little attack on Balamb we had back when, I kinda realized that's not the life I want, so I resigned and got my badge as a rookie cop." Irvine nodded watching a man walking out holding a shining silver blade- a gun blade.
"This was all we- HEY!" The man said when Irvine snatched it from his possession. "This is police evidence, you can't touch that."
Irvine held it away when the man tried to get it back saying. "I know whose this is, it belongs to Commander Leonhart of Balamb."
"Uh, it's true I've seen him with it." Ted added backing Irvine up.
"Quiet Schmitt." The cop said then turned back to Irvine saying, "Now look- wha....?" He was gone.

The elderly woman found a pay phone sitting beside a dirt road not too far away from where the gas station was and she was dialing the chief of police's home number, hoping he was there.
When the man heard the phone ringing he grumbled under the blanket of his bed and rolled over re-closing his eyes. His wife though, got up and reached over him for it. "Hello?" She said answering for him.
"This is an emergency!" The woman said in happy panic that someone picked up, but she was very hysterical wondering if Squall was ok.
"Honey it's for you." His wife said handing the sleeping man the phone and he groaned one last time before sitting up in bed.
"Hello?"
"Didn't you hear me before?" She said and the man was holding up a hand as if to mentally calm her down.
"Hold on now, hold on. Tell me what's wrong?"
She tried taking some breathes but it all came out in a rush. "He has him he killed a whole family and the men at the gas station." She said and then added. "He's got Chyna and Squall is worried about it. He's following him right now."
"What? Whose hurting China?" He asked then shook his head to the whole thing. "Lady come on down to the police station here in Dollet we'll talk in my office." He told her and she angrily looked at the phone as though she could see him and then threw her arms into the air with intolerance.
"Ohhh, we're wasting time." She slammed the receiver back down and hopped into her car. "Don't worry Squall I'll save you." She started her car harshly and sped off down the road, she had to catch up to them no matter what.
"What was that all about?" The mans wife asked as he was readjusting himself in bed.
"Some holiday nut, maybe they drank too much, I don't know kept mentioning some Squall and China business." He lay back down and she put her arm across his chest and they closed their eyes. 'China?' He thought. 'Why does that sound so familiar?' "Oh noo." He said getting up to get dressed.

The woman was driving faster than the car would let her but she was doing it; on the way down the road she saw the car Squall had been in but couldn't stop, judging by his looks a car accident wouldn't stop him.
In the RV the music had stopped so Edgeler could change the tune. Squall slid his glove back on after noticing it was off from his encounter with the wolves. "Laura, I know I said that I would kill him but I can't just yet. He has your sister Chyna and I don't know his address because look." He said holding it up for her to see. "It got ripped off most of the way but I can see enough of it to tell the police where I am when I get out of here."
He felt the vehicle slow down a bit and he thought that they might finally be stopping and he got up walking over to the windows to look out. They were boarded up beyond belief but there was a slit under one of the boards as if it had fallen short when Edgeler had done them. He couldn't see anything but the road, unfortunately but something was making the killer slow down.
Squall started to turn around when the noise of a familiar blue Chevy road up into the streets view. 'It's the woman from before.' He thought to himself with a smile. 'She must have gotten the police.' He kept his eye on the window and her car as it came into view and slowly faded back. 'She must be why we're slowing down.' The commander noted.
"Come on granny go past me," Edgeler was saying. "I've had enough adventures for one day, so go." He stuck an arm out the window and waved her by slowing up a bit, but she held her breaks staying behind him.
"No thanks mister killer, I like it back here just fine." She was saying to herself when he signaled for her to go by again. When he saw that she wouldn't he sighed and sped up, so she sped up as well.
"Just what I needed, first the bat out of hell driver and now Miss Daisy." He slowed again signaling her but she slowed down as well.
'What is she doing?' Squall thought to himself and was suddenly knocked away from the window to the floor. He quickly got up and looked out the window but still only saw the road.
The woman's car swerved back and forth but she steadied it and kept on his trail. He sped up again and so did she when he noticed this he stopped short again and she bashed into his RV. The impact knocked Squall back a bit but he held on. 'Don't be crazy lady, just follow us.' He said to her mentally, hoping she'd hear it and take the hint.
Just then her car sped past the window. 'Thank Hyne for that.' Squall said watching it, thinking she was going ahead of him but the RV swerved not letting her by and bashed into her. 'Shit.' Squall thought being tossed back and fourth like laundry in a dryer.
The woman slammed on her breaks and stopped her car. "Goodness." She said and saw the door to the RV open.
Edgeler walked out and over to her car, his fist going right through the window and bashing the woman's head into the window on the drivers side. She screamed loudly and Squall bit his tongue drowning out the sound of her scream. 'This is never gonna end is it?' He saw a book bag in the back with him. He went to it and he dug inside for a pen or something. With luck there was a big red marker inside and he took it out pressing the address paper against the wall and wrote on the back, KILLER. He then rolled it up and waited until he felt Edgeler get back into the RV before he dropped it out the crack in the window.
The vehicle was started up again and the tiny slip of paper blew away in the breeze of the exhaust pipe.
