Final Fantasy - All Series Fan Fiction ❯ Intensity ❯ Lie To Survive ( Chapter 9 )
Chapter 9.
"We'll start by you telling me how you got here." Edgeler said and Squall thought up a quick lie then replied.
"I snuck on board of your RV, I was just gonna take your money and go- rob you, ya know?" The gunblader said trying to sound as realistic as he could.
"Go on." Edgeler said shoving another piece of egg into Squall's mouth.
Squall took a moment to chew it then he went on. "Well, I lived on the streets so long I just thought it was about time I had something to eat with money and then I saw that mansion in Dollet and thought I'd steal from there. Only when I went over to it I saw you. Thinking you lived there I snuck into your RV knowing you'd take a while inside but then you came back out and drove off."
Edgeler seemed to be listening very intently and Squall went on seeing the man wasn't fully satisfied. "Well after that you stopped at that gas station and I saw what you did and I freaked out, never seen blood before and then I don't know I followed y-..." he was cut short because Edgeler shoved more food in his mouth, and after Squall swallowed he went back to his story. "Well uh, my car ran out of gas, you stopped on the road so I snuck back in to your car and waited to see where you lived...."
Edgeler huffed out a laugh and put the plate down looking at him and said. "Bullshit, why would you wanna know where I live?" Squall thought briefly and replied.
"...Thought there'd be a reward on your head- just looking out for number one." He laughed, but Edgeler stood up and smiled.
"Interesting." He went over to the counter and poured himself a glass of orange juice then returned to his seat in front of Squall.
"What's your name?" He asked him and Squall thought over a good lie.
"Robert Lesser." The gunblader said and Edgeler laughed at it. "What's so funny?" Squall asked not knowing if he should worry or not.
"That-..." he stopped his words and laughed another second. "That is the-...." he tried to go on but couldn't stop laughing, so instead of starting it over he finished his sentence.
"No wonder your on the streets." Squall furrowed his eye brows and scowled at him.
"That, that's not a power name." The killer shook his head. "Now see take my name for instance, Edgeler Vestdemon." He said hissing the S out like a snake. "You know what a name like that says?" He asked Squall who was just biting his tongue. "It says power.....Edgeler- like I'm always on the edge- and vessst, you see the s like a serpent one of the most powerful creatures alive and-..." he stopped so Squall could answer.
"Demon...." The gunblader said and he nodded repeating.
"Demon, right." The killer looked down at the plate of food and then at Squall. "You gonna finish this?" He asked and the gunblader shook his head.
Edgeler got up getting a tupperware container and he slid the omelet into the container then lidded it. "Waste not, want not right?" He remarked casually and dropped the food into the fridge. The killer then turned around and walked over to Squall about to say something when he heard a knock on the door. "Shit." He ran over to a counter drawer and pulled out some strong ducked tape.
"You aren't gonna make a sound while I answer that got it!" He shouted at the gunblader and snapped the tape across his mouth sealing it shut, he then tipped the chair up on it's back legs and slid him to the top stairs of the basement where he dropped Squall off, closing the door he went to answer the front one and what he saw took him by surprise.
"Who the hell are you?" Edgeler asked a 6'0" teen dressed as a cow boy.
"May I come in? I wanna ask you a few questions." Irvine asked and the killer made a face of uncertainty then let the boy walk in. "Now this'll only take about a minute of your time sir, I'm lookin' for somebody and I've been checking all the houses as far out as I could go and you're the last one on this route so I'm gonna ask you." Edgeler nodded wondering if this kid was serious or an undercover rookie cop trying to get ahead.
"Go on."
"Cool, well this guy has brown hair...uh almost gun metal grayish eyes..."
Squall was listening and he noticed that the voice was Irvine's! He started to move around as much as he could and make all the noise the chains allowed him too but it seemed a little useless. 'Maybe they're too far in the living room?' The gunblader thought as an explanation and continued to listen.
"Brown hair and gun metal grey eyes huh? He sounds fairly noticeable, what's he wearing- do you know?" Edgeler asked and Squall's eyes widened realizing that Irvine was about to give away his lie!
"Fuck." He said through the tape over his mouth.
"Well, he's got on a black bomber jacket with a fur white collar, and uh leather pants, a necklace that looks like a lions head...Oh! And a scar across his forehead."
Edgelers mouth twitched in aggravation and then he asked the one thing Squall hoped he'd just leave alone. "What's his name?" The killer asked stressing every word as though he were killing Squall differently with each word. 'Irvine, no!' Squall thought and tried to make noises again only this time it had actually worked.
"What the hell is that?" Irvine asked and Edgeler turned around to face the door with a look that only said he's a dead man.
"That's my dog, he loves playing with chains and things he does that for hours, haha I hardly get any sleep." Irvine nodded as though he understood then he shook his head and turned away.
"Thanks anyways, I guess if you haven't seen him then I'll be going." He turned and went toward the door and before the killer could stop him the door slammed shut. After looking out the window a second Edgeler went to the basement yanked Squall out and he practically tossed him into the kitchen chair and all.
"What is your real name?" He growled at him and Squall smirked in satisfaction of his anger.
"Like I'd tell y-..." Edgeler punched him in the mouth and asked again sounding as though he were dumbing it up for Squall.
"What is your name?" But Squall wasn't giving in and he spit the blood from his mouth on Edgelers face. The killer growled again and walked over to the counter and pulled up the knife that Squall had with him at the gas station then he walked over to him placing the knife on his face.
"Tell me, or I'm gonna start to cut up your face...." he breathed into his ear rubbing the knife where ever it liked to go and then he slid it into Squall's nose saying. "You won't believe all the different designs I could make and let me tell ya, you'd be insane long before I was done so you might as well loosen your tongue."
Squall thought about it and the knife slid further up in his nose and he just blurted it out. "Fine! It's Squall." Edgeler looked confused and then pissed off as he stood up and dragged the gunblader backwards in the chair.
"You have until I get back from work to tell me." The killer was saying and Squall rolled his eyes.
"But I'm telling you the truth this time." He replied but Edgeler was past the listening point for him as he stopped him in front of his table and redid the chains around the boys ankles so that they were coiled around the table.
"Somebody will come and find me, and when they do you'll wish you'd never been born." The killer made a slight laugh and popped his head back up from the table saying.
"I doubt it." Standing up he crouched back down a second and looked Squall in the eyes. "I'm doing what the world has shown me....only difference is, I'm not getting paid for it. They'll send boys like you with downy hair still on their cheeks into foreign countries and pay you to kill people."
'Does he know about me?' Squall wondered briefly after hearing that comment.
"And do you know what they do for those people? They build statues and monuments this is the world we're living in. Somebody has to die and I will make those choices just like they do."
Squall turned his head away saying. "Live or die, isn't that Hyne's job?" Edgeler made a laugh and stood up then said.
"Hyne fears me." There was silence and then he added. "To him...I am Hyne....." As the killer is walking away he calls over his shoulder. "I," a slight pause. "am going to take a little nap before I go to work, try to keep the rattle of the chains down to a minimum." And he was gone.
Squall started to wriggle around when he heard the silence and then he froze. 'Irvine was here. That means he's looking for me.' He tried to free himself again but the cuffs were painfully tight around his wrist. 'Rrr....' he strained and gave up for the moment. 'I have to think of a way to get him back here....and what about Chyna? I'll think of a way to free her too, but for now I....' He felt his eyes laze over and he thought before resting his head downward. 'I can't sleep now.' But he went under.
