It Couldn't Be True
Recovering
Waking up was not as awkward as Squall thought since Seifer wasn't there. But he could tell that he was with what little traces of warmth he felt on the space beside him. He found his body moving itself to lie in the remaining warmth that lingered and the scent of the blonde man filling his nose. It was relaxing but just as soon as he thought that, the pain of him moving hit him and the brunette groaned in discomfort. He shouldn't have done that. Silverish pools peered through slitted eyes for a moment before closing somewhat contentedly. Squall was glad that Seifer did not decide to open the curtains in his room so he could see 'the beautiful morning' like Rinoa used to do to him. He did not intend to physically get up anytime soon so he snuggled back into his sheets.
Suddenly a delicious aroma came through the gap in the bedroom door and Squall caught a good whiff of it, making his stomach growl at him. He was hungry but he still did not feel like getting up. His bones ached, his head throbbed and he was tired. Nothing better than to keep giving himself excuses...
Seifer cooks!? That thought just popped out of nowhere. He usually saw the blonde grabbing a bit to eat at the cafeteria so he just assumed that he never really cooked, like himself.
People usually brought him something to eat lots of times, especially Rinoa and surprisingly Zell. They both knew how Squall lived and visited his apartment often enough to know what he kept in his refrigerator, which was next to nothing really. He guessed he was just lazy when it came to food. Figured that was why he was so painfully thin. Maybe with Seifer there, he could thicken him up... He can't say that the blonde was always going to cook for him. He can't even assume that the delicious smell that has his stomach roaring at him to eat is even for him. Seifer was going to take care of him but Squall did not think that he was going to wait on him hand and foot.
"Hey Squall. Nice to see that you're up. Great timing too. Made you some breakfast." The brunette stared at Seifer in disbelief. This was turning out to be a surprising morning and he had a feeling the surprises weren't going to stop there. "Well, what would you like to do? Would you like to eat in bed, that could be arranged if you don't feel up to walking into the kitchen now. Or you could just chill on the couch, either way, what do you want?"
Squall was just staring at the blonde man, not believing the niceness radiating from him but at the same time, Squall couldn't help but also admire him in the process. Seifer's hair wasn't gelled down but it was freshly washed and disheveled, which made him look very sexy; having his shiny blonde locks fall forward and resting on his forehead. Then he had on no shirt and had on the pants he wore yesterday.
"You should have asked." Seifer frowned at him not knowing what he was talking about.
"Asked about what?...About cooking you foo-"
"To wear to sleep. I could have given you something." Seifer then smirked and chuckled lightly.
"Squally, your size is just a little small for me. I don't think I would even be able to fit one leg inside of your pants!" Squall just looked away.
"I do have some baggy stuff that would fit you..." Seifer just waved it off.
"It doesn't matter, man. I'll go get my clothes today...unless you're feelin.." Squall shook his head and grabbed the blanket resting on his lower stomach and pulled it off of him. He climbed out of bed and felt a wave of nauseousness hit him. The brunette swayed and stumbled forward into his dresser and there was a sound of someone rushing to him, climbing the bed and to the weakened man's side in seconds.
"Woah, there! Got up just a wee bit too fast now. Take it easy Squall. You don't need any more injuries." Seifer straightened Squall out. "Who the hell am I suppose to fight now that you're out of it? Damn, I need to find someone better to pick on." Squall didn't respond to Seifer's insistent rambling and just let the other man lead him back to his bed. "Sit down for a moment and I'll give you your meds."
Seifer climbed over the bed and was out the room in three large hops. Damn this shit! Squall was pissed at himself mostly for putting himself in this situation. He didn't mind the help from Seifer, it was nice for the other man to be treating him more and more like a friend but he was out of commission for fighting. He knew that if he even just glanced at his gunblade, Kadowaki would know and do god knows what to him.
His body shuttered at that thought. He's known that woman for way too long.
Seifer was back with a glass of water and a pill in his other hand. He waited until Squall was willing to take it and waited some more until he was done downing the pill and watching him just take a few more sips of cool water.
The brunette placed the cup down on the night stand and his eyes traveled back to the blonde as Seifer waited there patiently.
"How much patience do you have?" The smirk that grazed his rival's lips never let him down.
"I like to think I'm very patient." Seifer handed his hand out to Squall so he could help him up but the brunette just stared at it.
"It's not going to bite Leonhart." Squall just took the hand without question and stumbled slightly but not as bad as before. "You think you're gonna be okay in the bathroom alone? I'm serious about this now." The quiet man did not answer the question and just moved forward towards the bathroom. Seifer sighed and kept staring at Squall's retreating back. He was trying here but the shorter man was still cold and non-sociable as always, well, he was getting a little better around him.
"I'll be fine. I just needed to gain my ground a bit." Squall said when he reached the door. "I'm going to take a shower and will be out in a moment." Blue eyes were going to turn away from the blonde but Seifer had to have some kind of say in the matter.
"You better leave the door unlocked and if you're not out in ten minutes, I'm going to check up on you." The other man was going to protest but thought better of it.
"Ok." And he left into the bathroom.
Seifer just stared at the door for a moment longer before he went back into the kitchen to make sure the food would be still hot until Squall got out of the shower.
All he needed to do now was wait so he sat down in one of the kitchen tables and rested his head on his crossed arms. The feeling of waking up this morning was surprising to say the least. He would have figured that Squall would've woken and pushed the blonde away but that was not the case. Squall's own arms were wrapped about his waist and were beneath his shirt. Little hand gestures made the brunette's hands fall lower and lower until they were practically resting on the top of his ass. It was just the feeling of skin to skin that he found himself actually blushing and making his body heat sore. But that was only to the advantage of the smaller man as he liked the extra heat and snuggled further into Seifer's embrace, whispering his name while he was at it.
Their legs were entangled and a thigh was right up against his crotch and with all the little contented movements, he was slowly awakening and that wasn't good. He unconsciously grounded himself lightly against the smooth, muscular thigh but when he noticed, he had to get out of the bed before anything 'else' could happen unconsciously.
So being a good caretaker he had to make sure that Squall got his proper nutrition and all so he made breakfast. For one, he needed to cool down his body, get his thoughts thinking about something other than that horrible tease in the bedroom and he did. When he was done and ready, it was also well worth seeing the shocked look on his rivals face. He probably thought that Seifer could not cook. Well, he would just prove him wrong. He did what he could with what little ingredients the kitchen held. Some bread, eggs and milk. He scrambled up some eggs and dipped the bread in so he could make some french toast. He did do a little searching and found some vanilla extract that he added to the egg mix, which would give it a nice side flavor. Mmm, whenever he had that, he would make it. So he made the toast, eggs and set out a glass of milk for both of them. It was a simple little breakfast but one that will get you filled up.
That had kept him busy for at least a half hour before he decided to check up on Squall. But after they ate, he would have Squall relax and watch a movie or something and he was going to go get some clothes from his dorm, not to mention some cd's and his video game system. That would help out some when he had nothing to do. Seifer thought a moment longer on how long it has actually been since he left Squall and was ready to go and check on him when the door to the bedroom opened up and out emerged a freshly cleaned Squall Leonhart with damp hair cascading over his brows. The wet look was sexy, very sexy...
"Eh, so I guess you didn't need me in there anyway!" Seifer winked at Squall causing the man to blink unknowingly at him and continue into the kitchen to glance at what the blonde had cooked up.
Squall glanced at Seifer for a moment before moving his eyes back down to the glass of milk, french toast and eggs. Then a little smirk appeared on his lips.
"It looks edible." Seifer only grinned and nudged his fork towards him.
"You won't know if you don't try!"
"I don't want to die from toxic cooking." Seifer pouted and Squall sat down picking up his fork. Squall had to admit though, it looked tasty.
"Damn, will you just give it a try before you say it's poisonous?" The brunette smirked and cut off a piece of toast. He placed it into his mouth, eyes immediately falling on Seifer, who in return, was looking at him expectantly. Once he was done, he swallowed, took a sip of milk and he replied,
"That was the worst crap I have ever tasted in my life." The crestfallen look that came on Seifer's face was priceless and Squall couldn't help but chuckle and the blonde noticed.
"Hot damn. The man can crack a joke. Not such a tight ass anymore, eh?" Squall let the insults fly by and just took another bite out of his toast. It was really good. There was something extra in it, tasted like vanilla...or something.
"So it's good though, right?" Squall looked up into Seifer's eyes and nodded.
"Do you always need a confirmation?"
"Yeesh, I just wanted to know if you enjoyed it. I made it for you anyway." There was a moment of silence.
"It's good." Squall finally said and Seifer just smiled and decided to push his luck with the semi-talkative boy.
"So that means I can cook for you more often?" Squall rolled his eyes.
"Whatever..."Seifer just laughed and they both continued to eat in comfortable silence and when their plates were empty, Seifer got up to put the plates away in the sink.
