Prologue -

"Shitshitshitshitshitshitshitshitshit!"

The eighteen-year old paced the length of his cell many times over as he spoke his newfound mantra in an attempt to sooth his nerves and stop the impending headache. The guardsmen of the jail were gathered around his cell door, watching the spectacle with bemused expressions all amazed at how calm he had been previous to receiving the list of people to testify at his trail.

"Why the hell is she going to testify?" He shouted at the top of his lungs, glaring through the bars at the snickering guards. "Did you guys have anything to do with this? Huh? Did you?!?"

"Calm down, Lap Dog. She is testifying for your side, not the prosecution." The warden replied as he tried to choke down an uncharacteristic giggle.

"Yeah, she is the only one other than Mr. and Mrs. Kramer. You should be grateful for the support!" A young Lieutenant added, grinning like a kid at Christmas.

"You're enjoying my suffering, aren't you, kid?" Seifer snapped as he narrowed his eyes at the soldier before him.

"Hell yeah, Lap Dog. And don't call me kid. I'm two years your senior." He nodded, returning the look of hatred.

Groaning in disgust, Seifer flopped down onto his small cot and stared at the ceiling. "Yeah, but you don't know Lamia."

"Who is Lamia?" The Warden asked, taking another look at the list in his hand. "That name is not on the list..."

"Look under Miss Kramer, and you'll get her."

Glancing from the Warden to the prisoner, a realization dawned on the young Lieutenant from the 6th Calvary. "Hehe. And you all say that I am the dumb one. This girl is probably his woman!"

"She can't be! The Kramer's are a respected family, and would not let scum such as him so much as glance at her! And another thing..."

Seifer tuned them out at that point, his thoughts turning to the girl set to testify for his "behavior" as the header put it. He had failed her to a degree that much he had known, but for her to torture him by speaking for or against him was puzzling to say the least.

The image of a girl the age of Seventeen flitted through his mind, reminding him of what he fought the entire war for. Eyes of Azure, hair that only he knew the natural color of, and a figure that could make any man die in lust just by looking at her, that was Lamia. And she was his - or at least, used to be his. Now that the whole "Sorceress War" thing had transpired, he had no idea how she would react to his newly tainted soul. Not that he was so innocent before… but neither was she. He had made sure of that.

The only thing he could do was wait for the trail and see what she would do... And hope that she didn't despise the very air he breathed.

"… You are extraordinarily stupid, you know that? How on earth could a woman of such standing be the Lap Dog's woman, eh? It just does not add up! We don't even know if they knew each other!"

"But Bill, they did! Lamia Kramer used to attend Balmb Garden before her father sent her to Esthar to train her Sorceress powers!"

"So what? She could not have associated herself with him!"

"Why won't you get it through your head? She…"

"This is going to be a long night…"

--

The training center was empty that night. A final exam was going to be taking place the following day, so most Cadets were huddled in their dorms pouring over books of knowledge. That was probably why they had chosen to come out together that night. He didn't need to study, since he had already taken the test and passed before, and she had just returned from her six-month training stint in the faraway city of Esthar.

The secret area was deserted, as planned, and in the corner looking up at the sky sat two youths about the age of seventeen. The boy had his arm around her while she rested her head on his shoulder in relaxation. Content was what they were, in each other's company.

"Seifer, we need to stop this…" The girl suddenly said, raising her head to look at her companions face. "We really need to…"

The trademark smirk broke out across the boy's face as he leaned in a gave her a kiss to silence her. "Why? Because Cid will shit a T-Rexaur if he found out that I was banging his little girl?" He murmured as he started to lower her to the ground.

Yeah, something like that." She replied, letting out a groan of half pleasure - half contempt as he moved down to her neck.

"When I make SeeD, we'll tell him what goes on with us, all right?" He mumbled, moving to remove her shirt.

"Promise?"

"I promise."

--

"She probably had a "Nice Girl in front of Daddy, be bad behind his back" syndrome!" The lieutenant persisted, his face growing red from frustration. "And another thing for you too! I am -- Hey! Almasy!"

"What?" He replied, being jostled out from his trip down memory lane.

"Is she your girl?"

"Was. Not is."
