Chapter Two.

A moment before. Zell and Irvine are walking into the weapons shop, the cowboy placed his gun on the counter and smiled at the man behind the counter. "Hey man, how ya doin'?" He asked and the shop keeper shrugged answering.

"All right I guess, what can I do for you?"

"I need this gun enhanced, can you add a slot into it?" Irvine asked.

"Sure thing." The guy looked the handgun over nodding. "Yeah, should be easy."

"Thank you kindly." Irvine replied tipping his hat to him. "That'll be, 250." The man said and Irvine pulled out his Cred card.

"There ya go." The man took the card and ran it through the machine then punched in the numbers.

"Here," He handed back the card. "you can pick it up in the morning."

Irvine took his card back. "Thanks." He and Zell turned away and walked outside.

The blonde was scratching his head and Irvine looked down at him. "What?" He asked and Zell looked at him then back at the shop. "Repairs for slots cost 320, why the hells would he say 250?"

"It's cause I'm so damned gorgeous!" Irvine exclaimed backing up towards the street taking Zell's face between his hands giving him a quick kiss. "Duh!" He laughed and slung an arm around Zell turning around to continue across the street when a car sped by. They moved out of the way and Irvine shouted after them. "Hey watch it asshole!" Zell looked a little rattle by what happened but Irvine just shook his head. "Some people."

"I can't wait 'til we can go home, I'm already sick of spring break." He looked both ways then dashed across the street, Irvine took his time getting over to him then he grabbed Zell's arm when he was close enough he dragged him in the direction of the arcade. "We've got three more days left, lets just forget the dumb shit and enjoy our time." He placed an arm around his shoulders again and walked them into the arcade.

..........................

"Take that Zoltar!" Irvine was saying as he fired at the screen with a fake gun at virtual monsters. Zell was beside him watching, then he looked over his shoulder to see if the boy that was hogging the submarine game he wanted to use was done.

The boy looked over his shoulder noticing Zells glance then he held up another quarter and placed it in the machine. "Aw man." Irvine was saying as he watched a mutant bite into his characters neck killing him. "Shoot I'm dead."

"That little cunt!" He nearly shouted fuming with anger.

"Naw, it's alright, I've got another quarter." He was saying to Zell.

"Not you dummy, that shit little kid." He pointed and Irvine turned to look. "He's been on that thing since we got in here."

Irvine cocked an eyebrow. "Zell, you're like years taller than that kid, throw him off." The cowboy coached. "Assert yourself." He pushed Zell in the shoulder lightly and the martial artist nodded.

"You're right, I'm gonna do just that."

"That's our man!" Irvine cheered leaning an elbow on the machine watching his friend approach the kid.

"What do you want?" The boy asked when he saw Zell standing beside him.

"Move it, or I'll move you myself." Zell said.

"I'm not afraid of you." The boy said.

"Oh really?" Zell grabbed him by the shirt and picked him up from the machine when a larger boy looking about 200 pounds heavier than everyone in the room and ten feet taller too, stepped away from the machine beside them.

"Yeah really." He said looking down at Zell, who gulped. "You mind telling me why you've got your dirty hands on my little brother?" The teen said cracking his knuckles.

"Just making sure he's enjoying his time." Zell said letting the boy down to the floor and he brushed his hands down his shirt. "Go on kid, play it all day if you want." The older boy made a sound of agreement to the blondes words as he backed away over to Irvine who was laughing at the whole scene.

"You're a third degree, why didn't you kick that guys ass?" The cowboy asked and Zell sighed out.

"Because I told Ma I wasn't gonna get into any trouble this weekend." The two started heading for the exit. "And beating on some fat kid and his idiot brother aren't exactly on the good Samaritan list." He continued, Irvine made a sympathetic sound saying he understood.

"Well, lets go back to the hotel and get some sleep, maybe things will be better in the morning." Zell doubted it but he was tired so going back to their room was a good idea.

* * *

Stretching and yawning loudly Zell reached over to the lamp and turned it off. "Night Irvine," He said slipping under the blanket, but the cowboy was already asleep.

"Good night Zell." The martial artist said and closed his eyes.

Sleeping soundly for what felt like only three minutes something fell onto his forehead forcing his eyes open. "Mm-...Wha-...?" He rubbed the water from his forehead and looked out the window. "Raining. Gods the roof must be leaking." He rolled over. "Add broken down hotel to the list of things wrong with this vacation."

Just as his eyes resettled to closed they popped back open noticing a shadow moving across the room. "Irvine?" He asked but the cowboy was snoring in the bed next to his. "Whose there?" He asked the darkness but there was no answer although another drop of water hit him on the cheek.

"Fuck this," He rolled over intending to join Irvine but he banged into something and looking up he saw a 6'2" figure standing beside the bed. "Aaahhh!" He backed up nearly falling over the other side.

At first Zell thought he was seeing things, but after rubbing his eyes he was pretty sure there was someone in the room with him, but why wasn't he attacking, or moving or anything!? The shadow cocked it's head at him then leaned forward into Zell's face as if he were trying to figure out what he was. There was silence between the two. Zell was too afraid to move, from fear of whatever this thing was would attack him because it was a little hostile.

There was a faint sound filling the air as if he were being sniffed and he could feel the slight breeze of it blowing by. A crack of lighting lit the sky distracting Zell enough for him to take his attention away from the figure and when he returned his gaze it was gone!

"What the hell was that all about?" He asked the silence then heard thunder bang through the air and he slid out of bed joining Irvine. "I'll worry about it in the morning." He muttered and snuggled into the cowboys back going to sleep.

The next day. Zell woke up, alone. The shower water was running letting him know Irvine was in the bathroom so he pulled himself out of bed and walked over to the closet. "What a night." He said to himself. As he walked over to the closet he ran a lazy hand down his face and yawned. "I gotta lay off the weird food before I go to sleep."

Zell grabbed his clothes for the day and laid them on his perfectly dry bed. "It must have been a light shower, that bed should have been soaked through by now." He ran a hand across it but felt nothing although something red caught his eye.

"What's this?" He moved the blanket from the pillow and saw little droplets of blood lining the path he had moved around last night. 'Was my nose bleeding?' He wondered.

"Hey," Irvine greeted. "I saved you some hot water."

Zell didn't seem to hear him as he placed his finger slightly into his nose and pulled it back out. 'No blood.' The blonde noted. 'Then where'd it come from?'

"What'cha lookin' at?" Irvine asked crossing the room to where Zell stood.

"Nothing," He quickly covered the stains up. "Did it rain last night?" He asked the cowboy who just shrugged.

"I ain't hear nothin' when I woke up to go to the bathroom."

Zell bit the bottom of his lip. "Do you know what time it was when you went?" He asked and Irvine thought a minute.

"About ten minutes after you climbed in the bed I imagine."

"Hu..." Zell noted again.

"Why?" Irvine asked, But Zell placed a hand behind his head and laughed.

"No reason, just curious as to if it rained that's all wouldn't wanna ruin spring break with rain right?" Irvine just shrugged and Zell laughed again with strain in it.

"I'm uh, gonna go take a shower now." He scooped his clothing up and walked to the bathroom.

"Don' hurt yourself in there." Irvine said, hoping Zell's weirdness wouldn't be a permanent thing. "I'll get something from room service." Irvine was shouting loud enough to be heard in the bathroom.

"Alright." Zell said through the door.

"You want anything specifically?" Irvine asked moving over to Zells bed about to slide the blanket over to see what his friend was looking at but the bathroom door swung open and Zells head popped out making him snap it back, and his hand curved a path to the phone on the night stand.

"I'll have what ever you're having." Zell said and Irvine nodded hastily as though he had just been caught whacking off in the bed.

"Okay." The bathroom door closed again and locked behind him. Irvine sighed a breath of relief then he reached for the blanket and looked down seeing little droplets of blood sprinkled on the pillow. 'What the-...?'

He placed a finger on it and felt that it was still a little wet. 'Did something happen to Zell last night?' He wondered looking after him at the bathroom door. 'I won't push it, I'll just see if he tells me about it.' Picking up the receiver he pushed zero to dial up room service.

As the shower water ran over Zells body he started drifting, and thinking about last night. 'It could have all been a dream, but when did the change come in for me to wake up and go over to Irvine's bed?' Scratching his head he looked down at the suds washing off of him and his foot ran through them. 'It all seemed to happen in one big swoop...maybe all this anxiety is getting to me and now I'm sleep walking.'

"Whoa! That's dangerous I should try to stop that if I am." Adjusting the shower head, he walked underneath the water and rinsed his hair out.

Once his hair was rinsed through he reached out of the tub and grabbed the towel on the wrack then leaned forwards and turned the water off. "Just one more day Zell and then you're home free," He was saying as he wrapped his towel firmly around his waist and stepped out of the tub. "Last time I let Irvine pick the vacation plans, I should have went with Selphie to her Grandmothers in Trabia, at least then I could go skiing."

Stepping in front of the mirror he parted his hair with the comb that was resting on the counter top of the sink and played with different hair styles. "Maybe I'll just leave it as is." Grabbing a second towel Zell began to dry his hair.

"Breakfast is here." Irvine called through the door and Zell unlocked it, walking out into the room to get dressed. He didn't have any problems dressing in front of Irvine because he never cared about getting undressed in front of him, only this time Irvine kept glancing at him sideways and it was starting to tick him off more than make him uncomfortable.

"What?" Zell asked.

"Nothin'." Irvine stated, turning his attention to the food in front of him while Zell continued to dry off. 'I don't see any holes or cuts anywhere,' The cowboy thought. 'Must have had a nose bleed or somethin'.' With that as his explanation he started eating his breakfast humming a song he'd heard the other night.

A moment later Zell was fully dressed and sitting in the seat across from him at the table.
"So, what's up for today?" He asked the cowboy who just shrugged.

"I don't know, we could catch a movie or something, then maybe hit the casino's I've got the bug and I just know I'll win big tonight cause I brought my lucky hat with me." He patted the brown suede hat.

"How is that one any luckier than your normal hat?" Zell asked.

"Don't know, but it hasn't let me down so far."

The martial artist laughed and drank his orange juice. "Well thanks, but no thanks." He held a hand up declining the offer. "I think I'll just stay here and watch some tv or something tonight."

"Suit yourself but you're missing out." Irvine slid his chair back standing and he grabbed his jacket.

"Where are you going?" Zell asked unconsciously not really caring but he'd just felt the need to ask.

"Weapons shop to pick up my gun." Irvine answered.

"Oh yeah, see ya." The cowboy waved and walked out of the room.

"Today is gonna be dull." Zell thought out loud and walked over to the bed flopping down on it back first, then he reached for the remote turning on the television.

"Nothing." He flipped channels again. "Nothing...Nothing.." He boredely changed channels again and again until he was back where he started. "Fine, if Hyne really hates me this much I'll watch nickelodeon." He turned on the station and sighed. After three minutes of some dumb cartoon called Max and Ruby he was asleep again.
