Chapter Twenty Four.
"Die." The ch'iang snarled as he dropped his fingers down at the boys face. Zell dodged the attack rolling to the side. He cried out as he ran but Squall extended his arm and grabbed him back. "You're not getting away from me that easily." He muttered lowly.
When the little blonde was pressed firmly against his chest, Squall raised a hand up to his head and pulled a strand free. He slowly started to run his fingers around Zell's body, front to back, until he was satisfied.
"Hn." With a grunt Squall jumped into the air yanking Zell upside down when he was airborne. "Whoa!" The boy cried out.
Squall remained in the tree while he tied the thin yet powerfully strong piece of thread to the branch. "I'm getting really sick of people abusing me." Zell was saying, trying to show no fear to the half breed.
"Sick..." Squall muttered. He leaned downwards and snaked himself down the thin thread until he was in the boys face hanging upside down with him. "I've not yet begun to make you sick." Squall whispered in a hiss. Zell swallowed and closed his eyes from the brunettes.
A thin smile spread across Squall's lips and he dropped his legs from the thread letting them hit the ground before his upper half let go of Zell. "I'm gonna tell you something...." Squall was saying walking around Zell. "I am going to kill you, only there are so many ways to do it, I can't yet decide which is best for you." The ch'iang grabbed Zell's body and shoved him backwards sending Zell flying out into the darkness before the threads length gave and yanked him forward again.
"A-..." The shout from the pain was cut off from the fist hitting him in the mouth.
The little blonde went soaring backwards through the air again, then back again. The half breed cocked his head and raised his fist again. "Nooo!!" Zell shouted, wriggling as though he were trying to use his hands to make him hold off on hitting him again.
But instead of punching him, Squall grabbed him to stop him from swinging. "And then, there's my favorite way." Squall began to talk again as though there were never a pause in his sentence. He got close to Zell's face and a purple mist floated lazily from his mouth. "...I could poison you." Zell spit the blood in his mouth at Squall, who just wiped it off.
The vampire began to laugh, it wasn't a happy laugh, it wasn't even a chuckle...it was dark and cold with hatred behind every individual sound that lingered in it. "If that's your answer... then for a baby like you, I think you and me will play for a while. Since you like to play so much- how's about weeeee, hmm? Swing." Shoving Zell backwards the boy went flying. "Aaaahhhh!!!! No! No, please stop!" He called to him. Squall laughed and shoved the boy harder when he came back down to him.
Zell went outward and up, his weight made the thin material jerk him when he got over the branch and he came quickly back down. Squall held his hand up and when Zell was close enough, 'Here it comes.' Zell scrunched his eyes up. Squall sliced the thread letting Zell drop painfully to the ground. "Uagh..." Zell spit the dirt from his mouth and Squall grabbed his hair pulling him up to face him.
Squall laughed plainly. "And they said nothing was better than sex," He joked.
The ch'iang slammed the boys face into the ground and sighed. "Somehow, I thought messing with you would be a lot more fun than this, where's the crying, where's the pain- the fear?"
Zell just sat there shaking and in pain.
"Oh well, I guess I'll just kill you then." He rolled Zell over onto his back and opened his mouth. He snarled deep in his throat like an animal as he brought his teeth down over Zell's shoulder.
"Aaaahhhh!!!!" The boy screamed grabbing onto Squall's shoulders to hold him back. Zell's attempt was futile because he wasn't stronger than Squall and it made it more than easy for the vampire to pin Zell to the ground. The little blonde's eyes rolled to the back of his head in pain as he felt his shoulder being ripped apart under the vampires teeth.
Thump. His heart beat. Thump. He could hear it in his ears. Thump. 'No, it's something else.' Zell wasn't sure but he saw him in the blur. The veins in his neck were throbbing in excitement.
It is him! Seifer walked casually over to the two of them, Zell saw his long legs and blonde hair when he was a few good feet away. "Sei-..." He started.
Squall looked up seeing his lover and he smiled, though remained on the ground hunched over Zell.
'He came to save me.' The boy thought. But the Slav walked past him as though he weren't even there. 'He isn't going to help me....?' Zell wondered. 'I'm...Rrrr' He struggled against Squall's grip '...I'm gonna die.'
Seifer disappeared and reappeared behind Squall. "Squuaaall..." He whispered seductively.
Squall smirked hearing his lover say his name and he stood up with his back against him. "Seifer." Was all he said.
The Slav turned him around and drew his lover in kissing him deeply. Zell panted below trying to catch his breath and get up, but he couldn't move. 'Seifer... noo..' He thought lowering his eyes looking down at the lovers. Squall threw his arms around Seifer shoving his tongue practically down his throat. "Ah.."
The two of them moaned on with each, but something seemed a little suspicious. Seifer's hands crawled up the brunette's back and into his hair. "Mmm." He sighed. When Seifer removed his lips from the ch'iangs, he kissed his neck and looked down at Zell with a red gleam in his eyes.
'Seifer..' The blonde thought. The Slav continued to run his hands through his lovers hair until one was on his jaw line and the other had a handful of his hair.
"Squall." He breathed. The little brunette just gave a little moan of acknowledgement. Seifer smirked into the kiss then it turned into a sneer and with one quick motion he twisted the vampires neck until he heard a pop. Squall dropped to the ground instantly without a word or even a small sound of pain.
Seifer knelt down and snapped the threading around Zell's body. "Seifer, you saved me." He said quietly.
"Get up and run, I don't care where you go, just leave!" Seifer snapped urgently.
"Ahh! My arm hurts." The little blonde complained.
Seifer sighed with a little annoyance but he picked the boy up and started to run. Quickly. As fast as he could. "I'm going to take you to your mo-..Ahhh!" He went flying forwards and onto the ground, crushing Zell. Seifer got up and turned around.
"You fuck!" Squall shouted. "You would protect this human- than you too will die." Seifer's eyes narrowed and he began to walk to his former lover.
His walk soon turned into a run and Squall tensed himself waiting for the impact. Zell watched for a second then he heard Seifer's thoughts. 'Please Zell, run. I'll be along in a while to find you.' Hearing that, Zell got up onto his feet and started to run.
Seifer slammed his fist into Squall's face over and over but the ch'iang just stood there and took it. Seifer's fist sparked to ignite and he slammed it powerfully into the brunette's forehead. Squall's cool skin dulled the pain and the little brunette grinned.
"Is that all you've got?" He asked, though his forehead was beginning to bleed. "Let me show you how it's done." Pulling his fist back slamming it into the Slavs stomach, sending him back into a thick tree. Squall laughed for a second then looked ahead to where Zell was going. "Fool." He leaned forward a bit and rocketed after him.
"Zell!" Seifer shouted.
"Taaag," Squall started to saying, "you're it." His claws came down from his finger nails and just as he was about to slash Zell's back into ribbons, the little blonde was hoisted into the air.
"Aahh!!" He kicked his feet in fear and confusion. He was placed onto a branch and someone laughed.
"You're popular tonight." A strange vampire said to him. His hair was long and black and his eyes resembled an owls or a crows.
Squall's claw came down into a distant tree; the sound of the impact resembled an explosion. He looked around for the boy and let out a monstrous call.
"He's pissed." Laguna stated. "Come on." He grabbed Zell under his arms and jumped. For brief moment it was as though they were flying, but gravity soon pulled them gently to another branch and Laguna jumped into the air again.
Hopping from tree to tree they heard the explosion under them from Squall cutting them down. "Squall." Seifer's voice was heard. He turned to look receiving a punch in the face.
Stumbling to the ground Squall rolled himself back onto his feet. "Why are you doing this?" He asked. "You're supposed to be helping me, not him." The ch'iang griped.
"I won't help you." Seifer said lowly kneeling down, he punched his fist through the ground and it came back up punching Squall in the face. Seifer did it again and again and again crawling closer and closer to him.
Squall backed up until he was up against a tree, where Seifer decided to jump on him. They fell side ways and wrestled against the ground trying to over power each other but they were both equals in battle. "Rrrr.. I'm gonna enjoy killing you." Squall said through strain.
Seifer leaned down and opened his mouth over Squall's dropping a fire ball inside his mouth and he pulled away. "Aaahhh!!!" Squall rolled around in the flames that were incasing his head then body.
Seifer's heart ached a moment, but he ran off to find Zell and Laguna.
* * *
"Where are we going?" Asked Zell. Laguna had took to the ground and started running, with his grip firmly around Zell's wrist.
The strigoi didn't bother to answer he just continued his run, looking every which way he could. 'Where can I hide this kid?' He wondered. 'The warehouse!' Turning them in another direction Zell managed to pull himself free from the birds grip. Laguna ran a few paces before noticing, then he stopped. "What?" He asked looking at the boy.
"Who are you?" Zell asked rubbing his throbbing wrist.
"Right now, I'm the person that's going to save your ass." Laguna replied walking back over to Zell, who backed cautiously away. "Oh come on, if I wanted to hurt you I would have killed you ages ago."
Zell jumped inside hearing that. "Aha! You see, you are trying to kill me."
Laguna's eyes narrowed but his face soon relaxed itself back to normal and he smirked. "All right then, maybe I am trying to kill you." He started walking towards the little blonde again saying, "But there isn't much you can do against this." He opened his mouth and started to screech at him.
"Aah," Zell covered his ears and scrunched his eyes shut.
Laguna lowered his voice a little and walked over to the boy scooping him up. "If you won't follow me willingly, than I'll carry you." With that he jumped away with Zell still covering his ears.
A distance away. Seifer heard the call of Laguna. "That little shit." He muttered. Running faster, he heard Squall's thoughts as he came too. 'I better mask my scent so he doesn't follow me.' The Slav thought before picking up his speed going after the strigoi's smell.
...............................
"Where the hells did they go?" Seifer asked himself looking around. He rested his hand onto a tree and looked up to make sure they weren't silently watching from above him. "I can't ask Zell mentally, because Squall will hear it." Walking forward a second he paused.
"Where would I take him?" Thinking quietly a moment Seifer snapped his fingers. "The warehouse." He turned himself around and went back towards the fishing warehouses. As he approached them he could hear Laguna and Zell talking to each other.
"Who are you?" Zell demanded.
"Laguna Loire, at your service." The strigoi answered with a salute, then he turned his attention back out the window. "Where is he?" He wondered mostly to himself.
"All right then Laguna, why are you helping me? I've never seen you before."
The vampire rolled his eyes and turned around to face him. "I'm not helping you, don't flatter yourself." He stated. "I'm helping Seifer. You're not the only person that thinks he's good looking."
Zell huffed out a laugh and crossed his arms over his chest. "Well you know what when all this is over you can have him," Seifer paused at the door hearing that and Laguna looked at the door from the side of his eye. "All this isn't worth it, I could have been killed if it weren't for you pulling me out of the way."
'I hope he's ok though.' The little blonde thought. A moment later the door opened and Seifer walked in.
"Seifer." Zell stood up and walked over to him.
"Are you all right," Laguna asked, closing the door after him and bolting it shut. "Is Squall dead?"
Seifer shook his head. "Far from it, but he'll be distracted for a while." His voice was tighter than usual and Zell picked up on it instantly.
'I wonder what's wrong?' Wondered the boy.
Seifer placed his hands on either of his shoulders and looked him over. "Did he try to hurt you?" Seifer asked in a detached voice.
"I thought he was going to, but he didn't." Seifer nodded and let the boy go. 'Why is he acting so weird?' He watched him go by, then his eyes narrowed. 'Probably because he feels bad that he's going to kill his love instead of help him.' Zell followed the Slavs path and sat down on a coffin next to him and Laguna on the other side.
"So what's the plan chief?" The strigoi asked.
"There's only one real way to kill a Moroli Slav but to get that side out of him we're gonna have to distract the ch'iang in him as it is his dominant."
"How're we gonna do that?" Asked Zell.
"We need some type of grains, wheat, rice, anything you can think of, the spell cast on that type of vampire will kick in and he won't be able to resist the urge to count them and when he's distracted we'll take him out."
"I could run to the store and get a bag of rice." Suggested Zell, but Seifer shook his head.
"I want you to stay here at all cost, Squall is too dangerous and violent as hell. He wouldn't just bite you, Zell. Ch'iang's rip their victims apart before eating them....I want you to be safe."
Laguna looked away from the touching moment and as his gaze left the room to out the window he noticed something. "Fog's coming in." He mentioned idly.
"We've gotta work fast then, Zell stay here." Seifer said with command. "I can't stress it enough, none of the other vampires will bother you if...." He paused looking over his shoulder then stood up. "Come here." The two of them walked to the back of the room and Laguna watched them for a moment, then he headed to the door and walked out.
"I want you to wear this, my scent is strong enough on it to ward anyone off that can detect you. You'll lay in my coffin until I get back." Zell slumped his shoulders feeling Seifer's shirt go around them, then his arms followed with a hug from behind.
Zell raised his forearms up and patted Seifer to reply for the hug. "Don't get yourself killed." The little blonde stated.
"I won't." With that Seifer opened the lid off of his coffin and helped Zell into it. "I'll be back when it's over." With that he walked away.
When Seifer was outside, he noticed Laguna leaning his back against the side of the building smoking a cigarette. "Know where this fog is from?" He asked casually.
Seifer nodded and inhaled deep. "Squall..."
"Yup. He's placed his tracking mist everywhere." Laguna passed him the cigarette and the Slav took a drag off of it. "It's a good thing the boy stayed inside." He paused then asked. "Did you hear what me and the boy were talking about before?" Laguna asked pushing his back away from the wall.
"Yes. And I don't care, I'll protect him and Squall." Laguna cocked his head hearing that.
"Squall? But I thought you said-.." But Seifer just walked past him without another word. "I'll just be on my way then!" The strigoi shouted after him. Kneeling down to the ground, Laguna turned himself into an owl and flew off towards the woods.
'I've gotta distract him so he doesn't go sniffing around for that boy.' He flapped a little faster and headed higher into the tree tops. 'Gonna be hard to find him with his scent everywhere.' His sharp eyes scanned the air for the ch'iang but he was unsuccessful. 'I wish I knew where to find him.'
"Don't bother," A voice hissed.
"Squawk!" Laguna cried out feeling his wings anchor down and get pinned to the ground below.
"Well well, Laguna... I never would have guessed that even you my best follower liked Seifer. I can't have that though can I?"
Laguna morphed back into his human form but Squall's weight was still on his arms. "Squall, you miss heard me, what I meant was I liked him as a friend anyone can see he's attractive though, can't blame a guy for that."
"Oh no?" His claws extended down from his finger nails and he grinned ear to ear. "I've always wanted to see what the inside of a bird looked like." Just as he was about to bring the sharp, knife like, nails down into the bird, Laguna pulled as much of his energy as he could and let out a building demolishing screech.
Squall covered his ears and backed away from the sound. Scrambling up Laguna ran like the wind, there was no way he'd be fast enough to make it away from him, but he hoped that Seifer was on his way back with the seeds.
"Ahahahahahaha." He heard Squall laughing. The ch'iang placed his hands behind his back and jumped little distances after him as though he were a love struck female chasing him.
Laguna is running as fast as his legs can carry him, and from behind you can see Squall rise and fall just barely visible through his tracking mist, but he's getting closer and closer. "Laguna..." Squall breathed in his ear before plunging his hand through the birds back.
"Aaahhhh!!!!" His free hand came up and sliced the strigoi's head clean off and he shook the body to the ground.
Hearing the screech of pain. 'Laguna...I'm sorry.' Seifer thought.
