Monday on the line,
When you know that now's the time.
To leave and be free...
Aware of your destiny.
When that moment arrives,
World's visions through the mind...
-
And all I see is what used to be
My life consumed, be a memory.
-
I don't ever wanna feel pain,
Wanna be ready when you call my name.
I don't ever wanna feel fear,
Cuz every night feels alright when you're near.

“Tifa…” he hesitated when he heard the commotion of people coming in before ignoring it and continuing in a shaky tone at first then turning determined as he finished,
“Tifa…Will…Will you marry me?”
--
Will you marry me?
Will you marry me?
Tifa…Will you marry me?
Slowly ever so slowly her unhinged jaw came back to place with a soft click as thick lashes languidly closed then opened.
Blink once.
Blink twice.
“I'm sorry Cloud did you say something?”
He rose from his kneel, the familiar combination of annoyance and embarrassment now blanketing his features as he stood before her.
Normally, she would have been worried that his annoyance was directed at her because as far as she remembered Cloud never became annoyed at her. But then, these things barely registered because as it was, it seemed as though her mind had gone foggy and she just couldn't seem to differentiate reality from fantasy.
Dumbly, she noticed the way his mouth moved to form words but the strange thing was; she couldn't seem to hear anything. It felt like the volume had gone on mute and she cocked her head to the side contemplating.
Did she forget to clean her ears this morning? Was that the reason why she became deaf? But then she didn't know anyone who had gone deaf because of too much wax on the ears…Hmm…
Body and head moving back and forth when someone grabbed hold of her shoulder and shook. She blinked again and turned to look at the woman clutching her in what seemed to be a death grip with a huge grin on her face showing how pleased she was about something. There was something familiar about the woman. Quickly grasping the thought before it flew away she smiled when she remembered the person's identity.
Yuffie.
The girl was Yuffie.
There was something wrong with her if she could not recognize something as familiar as Yuffie but she pushed the thought aside and instead murmured a “Hi Yuffie.” with a slight smile.
The girl's eyebrow shot towards her hairline at the response and placed her hands on her hips saying in a scolding tone, “Tifa! I've like been trying to get you to talk for ages and now that's ALL you have to say?”
Tifa clasped her hands behind her back, another one of her nervous gestures.
Although…mouth tilting downwards into a slight frown, what could she be nervous about?
“Umm…was I supposed to say something else?”
The young kunoichi threw her hands up in frustration and reached up to slightly bonk the woman's head saying in exasperation,
“Hello? Don't tell me you've forgotten already, Cloud just proposed to you! Proposed Tifa! This is where you're supposed to say I do and live happily ever after remember?”
Ah. So that's why she was so nervous. Memories rushing to the surface after the statement, she turned to the blonde man beside Yuffie who was staring at the ground eerily keeping quiet all throughout the two women's exchange.
The hands behind her back clutched tighter and the fleeting thought crossed of how it might be possible for her fingers to be permanently welded together if she continued on as she was doing now. Shifting her weight to her left foot, then to her right she nodded to herself in confidence, face breaking out to an apologetic smile as she said,
“I think I'm gonna use the ladies room for a moment,” an embarrassed laugh as she slowly backed towards the doorway “so if you could just wait a teensy little second, I'll be right back. Don't worry this won't take too much time.” Then proceeded to fly up the stairs and close the door to her bedroom with a slam.
--
“Hello?” the sound of the bell being rung repeatedly “Anybody here?” ringing it one last time and giving a `tsk' when there was still no answer. Reno slammed the stupid bell back in the table with more than enough force and turned to his partner, annoyance clearly etched in his features.
“What now? Nobody's even here! How the hell are we supposed to ask questions if there isn't even a manager or janitor around this joint?”
“Hmm.” Rude eyed the open doorway. After the bartender had spoke about a possible clone hiding out here they had immediately run to this place checking every room or in some kicking open the locked doors and still came up with nothing.
For a minute he even doubted the man's credibility. Surely, a man scared of aliens and believed in ghosts couldn't be that reliable.
Rubbing the cheek that stung slightly in pain because one of the patrons had decided to throw an iron to his face when they kicked open their door, Reno sighed. This was useless. There was nothing here!
“Let's report this to Rufus. Even though it might be a fake it's still better than nothing.”
Rude nodded. Both walking towards the exit Rude paused for a moment thinking he heard something before he decided it was probably nothing. Maybe another one of those rodents this place seemed infested with. Rude inwardly shuddered. He didn't want to stay longer than he had to. He had a feeling that he wasn't really welcomed here so he shrugged it off deciding they'd come back later.
It was better to be sure and it doesn't get sure enough if they had the whole Turks to back them up on this interrogation.
--
The hand clamping down on the old man's mouth loosened but the gun being pointed at the janitor never wavered. The sound of the front door being closed gave him the confirmation needed that the Turks had left the building and Yazoo stepped away. Gun still pointed at both men even though they were both tied to a chair; looking frightened enough to faint.
Cocking the trigger, he turned his hand gun pointing to the senior directly at the spot in his forehead in between the eyes.
“Now, I want you to tell me. What are the Turks doing here?”
The manager gulped “I d-don't k-know s-s-sir - ” and Yazoo quickly cut it off with a hiss.
Eyes narrowing to mere slits as he said,
“Don't fucking lie to me old man! Now I'll say ask you one last time.”
“Why. Are. They. Here.”
When he continued to remain silent he raised his voice almost shouting “Answer me!” then delivering a punch to the janitor's gut for effect.
“P-please s-sir! I r-really d-don't k-know you've g-got t-t-to b-believe me!”
“Stop stuttering!”
There were tears in the old man's eyes now and for a moment he felt a ping of guilt before he pushed it away just like he did every time they had to make a kill.
Taking deep breaths to calm himself the manager repeated his words, hoping that his honesty would be able to show through his voice.
“Please sir. I really don't know. We've never told anyone. I'm just as surprised as you are.”
Gritting his teeth at the words Yazoo closed his eyes and slowly letting down the hand that held the gun. No, the old man hadn't had it in him to lie so he would have to believe him.
He had other things to do if the Turks truly did find out about his location and threatening old men weren't on the list. Approaching the window he pulled it open and jumped out, he needed to see Tifa and tell her what happened. The possibility came to him that the person who spoke about his whereabouts could be her but once again he simply waved that thought away. She could have killed him herself if she wanted, she didn't need to bring in the Turks if she wanted him dead.
Quickly putting on a cloak to hide his hair from the daylight, Yazoo got on his bike. Even though it was breaking the agreement not to visit her during the day it couldn't be helped. He had to get out of this place if he wanted to survive and whether she wanted to or not…
He was taking her with him.
--
Tifa you idiot…
Why are you doing this?
Why are you doing this to yourself…to Cloud!?
He doesn't deserve this. So why -
At the sound of stone hitting glass, Tifa looked up. She needed a distraction from her thoughts and it was a good thing for her to focus on other things beside the nightmare that just happened the minute she got back here. Eyes quickly locating the cause of the sound, full lips tilted downwards to a frown.
Someone was throwing pebbles at her window.
Well, that was new. Standing up, she walked towards it and opened. Hands immediately flying to catch the stone that would've hit her had she not acted.
Glancing down, her already pale skin turned even paler at the guest outside waiting for her.
“Yazoo!” she hissed.
Eyes darting from the bedroom door and his cloaked figure.
“What are you doing here? We had an agreement - “
He took off the cloak hiding his face after he made sure no one would be passing by the alley to spot them and looked up. He smiled in answer to her question and said,
“Come down and I'll tell you.”
She furrowed her brows “You idiot! What the hell do - “a knock on her door and a worried “Tifa? Are you alright?” caused her to still.
Panic mode now fully activated. She whirled in on the grinning man below her eyes promising a beating as she whispered an alarmed,
“Just tell me what you want and go. Cloud's already coming you stupid ass -“
“I'm leaving. And if you want me to go before Big Brother gets worried and breaks down the door you're just gonna have to jump from that window and come with me. Otherwise, I'm staying right…here.”
A screech of “What!?” then the knocks became louder.
“Tifa? Are you sure you're alright in there?”
“F-fine! I'm fine Cloud.I'm fine!”
A chuckle from below and dark eyes narrowed.
“When I get my hands on you, you suicidal son of a -“
“Are you talking to someone in there? I can hear voices…”
“Better hurry Tifa.” Yazoo said with a smirk ignoring her growl “He's gonna catch us if you linger too long.”
And as if to prove the statement she didn't have time to curse him for his words, when Cloud said,
“Tifa, I'm coming in.” from the other side.
Quickly calculating her jump to land at the seat behind him Tifa leaped, landing just as she was meant to, hands automatically going around his waist.
Smiling at the feel of her chest pressed against his back and arms woven around him. Yazoo revved up the engine with with the finesse of an expert rider and murmured a “Hold on.” causing the irritated woman to clutch tighter then took off.
This was gonna be one hell of a bumpy ride.
