Note: In no way do I HATE Rinoa; quite the opposite I LOVE her. So, there is no bashing of her within my story.

"Why do we need to train another person to be an elite SeeD and in our group?"

"I agree! We have enough firepower to blow Adel to the Moon! With a ROCKET LAUNCHER!"

A heavy sign emitted from the set of people sitting around a lunch table. A lovely blonde turned to her right and tried to be nice as possible as she spoke to the green-eyed girl who was bouncing around in her chair. "Selphie; rocket launchers are unnessecary in this time of situation." A drawling Southern voice came from Selphie Tilmitt's side. "If my little darlin' wants to blow up the sorceress up with a launcher, she can," said the voice, his hand playing in Selphie's sepia-colored hair. Zell Dintch pounded the table with a gloved fist, his blue eyes snapping at the cowboy Irvine Kinneas. "That's why we got GF's! Or maybe that hat is clamped on your big head too tight for you to rememeber?," sneered the blonde-haired fist fighter. Irvine glanced coolly, his eyes darkening to a deep amethyst color. "How about closing your mouth, 'Chicken-Wuss'?" Zell grew red and got quiet. Quistis Trepe rubbed her tired cerulean eyes and placed her head in her hands. "What are we going to do about our mighty leader?," Irvine asked lightly, pulling Selphie close to him. The former SeeD instructor bit her lip and shrugged.

"I have no idea. He doesn't even know about this."

It was the fighting that nearly killed them all. It was in Galbadia Garden where they fought of Seifer Almsay and Sorceress Edea when they ambushed Balamb Garden. They were after Ellone. Immediately, their leader wanted Seifer. After obtaining Cerberus from the center of the school, the leader's party was himself, Zell, and an angelic creature named Rinoa Heartilly. A Resistance member from Timber, Rinoa was the life of the group, her smile always radiant and charming. From Quistis's point of view, she may had captured their leader's heart. After Casting a Cura on herself, Rinoa, still low with life, was getting ready to summon Shiva when Seifer picked himself off the ground, Hyperion held onto tightly. He stood up quickly and casted Firagra on Rinoa, making her shriek out in pain, knocking off 3/4 of her life force. He postitioned himself into Limit Break mode, burning the girl's body badly with the fire spell. Zell and his leader were fighting off Edea's Maelstrom attack when they both saw Seifer slash and attack Rinoa, blood spurting everywhere, her doe brown eyes large and glassy, body rigid and burnt.

Zell felt as though he was going to throw up as he saw her go down, almost as if it where in slow motion. Her blue duster fluttered around her, black hair hidding her face. Their leader suddenly bellowed like an ox, racing towards her when Edea performed an attack on him, pushing him down on his back. "Your fight is with me, SeeD!," she shouted. Seifer smirked at the leader and collasped down on the floor, unmoving, leaving behind a dead body and two barely standing SeeD's. Zell summoned his strongest GF, the Brothers, and the leader cast Aura upon himself, his Limit Break up and Renzenkouken broke out on their former Matron.

How they really defeated her, they didn't know. It was all a blur to them. They remembered seeing a flash of white light and Seifer rose miracuously from the floor, unharmed and healed. Edea returned to normal, but Rinoa...

somehow she didn't make it.

The leader stayed in his room for almost two weeks, not coming out for anything. Not even Zell could get him out for the funeral. Deiling City sent their appreciation for returning their daughter to them and didn't blame Garden for the incident. Quistis, Zell, Irvine, Selphie, and all at Garden who knew Rinoa attended the mournful ceremony. Quistis could remember it very clearly. It was on a blue sky day and everywhere were white flowers of many types. Her coffin was made from Esthar metal that gleamed off rainbow colors. Quistis recalled Rinoa laying there, her skin mended, eyes closed, hair strewn around her like a halo, skin deathly white as the color of her dress. A blue ribbon was in her hair, conveying her innocence. A cluster of pale yellow roses were in her hands, tied with her black Resistance ribbon she wore on her left arm. The tears that were shed and the woeful cries made even Irvine choke up. And all the while, Quistis was burning on the inside for the fact HE wasn't here.

Clearing her head, the woman stood, her bossiness coming back. "Well, then. I shall go and greet the new person and teach them all I know for the battle that is upon us. I believe that the person is in Cid's office. I will see you all soon," she prompted, moving away from her chair. The group got up and made their own way in Garden in a hushed silence.

Cid Kramer, the Headmaster of Balamb Garden, in all his years, had never come across a more serious and motivated person in all his life. Her appearance, however, was very unreal... "So, Arae. Balamb has always influenced you to become a SeeD?" She shrugged. "Ever since I was thirteen at least." Cid nodded, glasses catching the light. "Um, first off- do you always look so... h-how can I say this-"

"Why do I dress dark?"

"...yes..."

Arae sniffed, pushing back her layered red hair and staring at him from underneath heavily black lined eyes. They were a brilliant color of green with blue laced in them. Her long-sleeved dark blue boadice shirt and black baggy pants linked with many silver chains and boots gave off the vibe she was one not to mess with. On her hands were leather gloves and red and black painted fingernails. "I dress like this because I can. I don't perfer to dress up fancy-like." Cid paused and spoke. "Understandable. I won't bug you about it anymore." Arae shrugged again and stood, her figure straight and almost lazy. The door opened and Quistis entered. "Ah...! Miss Trepe! This is Arae Anglique, the new recroute. You must teach her well and give her a weapon by the end of the night. She shows great potential here at Garden." Quistis and Arae stared at one another. "Cool...," Arae muttered, scanning Quistis up and down with her odd eyes. Immediately, the instructor felt goosebumps race along her skin. "Umm... indeed. Thank you, Headmaster," Quistis said softly. The two exited the room, leaving behind a bemused Cid. "This should be intresting...!"

During the elevator ride, Arae didn't say anything to her instructor. She kept popping her gum softly ever once in awhile. The blonde was getting slightly aggitated. 'C'mon, Quistis... think of SOMETHING to talk about. See if she has any intrests...' Turning her head to the redhead, she was going to say something when she saw Arae snapping her fingers, making lighting spark up, a bored expression on her pale face. "H-how... how are you doing that?!?!?!!," the blonde shrieked, her eyes wide and mouth slack. Pulling her eyes up lazily, Arae shrugged. "Been doing lately. That's why my mom put me in here. She thought that it was impressive, but she wanted Cid to help me control it and also how to fight and be smart and all that shit." Quistis blinked. "Easy on the swearing, please." Arae rolled her eyes. "Whatever."

Quistis signed and browsed through Arae's documents. 'Hmm... eighteen years old... a Leo... preference weapon katanas. Apparent magic skills from out of no where. Ah...! So that's how she's doing it! Well, better carry on the conversation...' Quistis looked up and asked, "So, do you have any particular GF you wish to obtain after Ifrit in the Cave?" Arae snorted, a light smile on her face. "I have Shiva." Quistis felt her mouth drop a second time. "What?" Arae snapped her fingers again, this time ice flurries scattered on the elevator floor. "Yup. Don't know how, but she started talking to me and we hit it off," the girl muttered, watching the doors open with a 'ding!' Arae walked off, leaving a confused and sputtering Quistis.

Arae found her room in the dorms. Her luggage was by the door 15-B. Taking out the swipe key Cid gave her, she ran it through the lock pannel and the door unlocked. Arae was about to go in when she heard something from the room next to hers. Sounded like... moaning. Her eyebrow cocking up and ears perked, Arae walked over to the door and pressed up against it, feeling the cold surface against her cheek. They were sobbing moans... like a male crying over something deep. The redhead felt her heart somehow ache for this person, though she didn't know him. She pressed her lips and took a breath, asking in a loud but soft voice, "Are you okay in there?"

Silence.

Then, the door flew open, knocking Arae to her bottom and a making her shout out in surprise. "H-hey!!! What's the... big..." She stopped talking only to be gazing the pair of the most beautiful stormy blue-gray eyes ever imaginable. They were red with tears and the pink face they were on was pinched slightly and the hair was toussled and almost grimy-looking. He wore a dirty white shirt and a pair of leather pants with bare feet. "What do you want?," he asked lowly, his voice dry and crackling. "I heard you... crying... and I didn't know what was wrong... I'm sorry," Arae apologized quietly, standing up quickly. The man stared after her and turned around, slamming the door behind him. Arae jumped at the noise and felt extremely awkard first...then she was pissed. Stomping her foot, Arae marched into her room dragging her luggage and flung it in the room. She banged stuff around for a couple of minutes until she found her CD's. Grabbing them and plugging in the stereo system, she put in Aveneged Sevenfold and turned the volume up loud. Base and guitar riffs rang out through Arae's room, making the walls pound, hoping to make the guy mad. Smiling to herself, she laid down on her unmade bed and closed her eyes, bending her arms behind her head. "A nap is in order now," she murmured to herself. Secretly, she was hoping to see that guy again... just to see if he was okay.

She hoped he was fine.

"Is she awake?"

"Nah... she's sound asleep."

Zell and Irvine were going through her room, 'inspecting' it they told Quistis and Selphie. Quistis only rolled her eyes and walked off to the Library. Selphie pouted a little bit and warned Irvine not to do anything mean to Arae. Irvine simply smiled and winked at her, making the girl blush crazily. Zell picked up a katana sheath, whistling lowly. "Check this out, Irvine! She's a swordswoman." Irvine waved a hand. "No one knows how to handle guns around here... hello." He saw a holster hanging off her desk chair with a ivory-handle automatic nestling inside. "She does, apparently," Zell mused, picking up a Weapons Monthly April issue magazine and browsing through it. "She seems a bit macho, doesn't she? Might be a lesbian." Zell nearly dropped the magazine, his face glowing red. "Irvine!!! Stop that, man!" The cowboy shrugged, smiling slowly. He walked to the bed, rubbing his chin thoughtfully. "Look at her though... she is quite the beauty behind the make-up." Zell approached the bed, the two boys studying her as she slept. Irvine allowed his eyes to roam her body, taking in the slim waist, rather busty chest, short legs, pale skin that glowed in the late afternoon sun, her red hair the shade of a ruby. "Quisty said her eyes were weird too," the blonde said suddenly, tearing his gaze from her. "What color are they?"

"She said green with blue in them. They gave off a weird vibe though."

Irvine pushed back his couwboy hat, continuing to stare at her. "I'd love to hear her talk. Dispite the way she dresses, we have a very hot mama on our hands, my friend. I wonder if they're real..."

"Damn right they are and I'd appreciate it if you two dickheads left my room."

Zell dashed out quickly as he could, not wanting to bear the wrath of the new girl. She seemed dangerous enough just by sleeping! Arae sat up, her eyes on Irvine's amethyst ones. "Can I help you with something?," she asked in a low tone, pushing herself off the bed. "I was just checkin' the new girl that's gonna help us fight, that's all," Irvine drawled, sweeping back ino a graceful bow. Arae raised an eyebrow. "So? Next time, knock. You break in again, I'll purposely kick your ass," she threatned, walking to her bathroom. Irvine pursed his lips slightly. "All righty, then... well, Lil' Lady, we shall see you tomorrow, then!," he said cheerfully, waltzing out. Arae rolled her eyes and banged her head against the bathroom door. "First Mister Crybaby, now Mister Smooth-Talker and Runaway Chicken... if they're part of the elite SeeDs, I'm doomed."
