Sudden Darkness

Chapter 5:

Seifer woke up. His hand hurt like hell. The effect from the earlier painkillers had faded. 'Ah man...Why *couldn't* I smash a
wall instead..' He let his hand travel on the narrow bed and noticed the other half was empty, which made his heart beat faster.
'W-where's Squall?!' A frown made its way onto the blonde's face, when he realised Squall wasn't by his side anymore. 'He's
left? ...Did he finally realise it was *me* and regret everything and-'

"Hey Seifer, what's with the gloomy face? What are ya thinking about?" Squall came out from the bathroom, drying his hair
with a white towel. Seifer turned his head in Squall's direction and let out a relieved sigh. "I..I thought you had left and-" Squall
smirked and sat on the bed, next to Seifer. "You thought I regretted everything and escaped to my room while you were
sleeping?" Squall smiled, when he saw Seifer was blushing. "Well...yeah.." the blonde admitted and swallowed audibly. Squall
put the towel aside and took Seifer's hand into his own. "I *don't* regret anything." the brunette said with a firm voice. The
older boy felt relieved. He gave Squall a wide smile and sat up on the bed, kind of waiting for Squall to kiss him, for he himself
couldn't see where exactly the brunette's lips were. Squall knew this and leaned forward to capture Seifer's lips into a kiss, but
stopped, when he saw Seifer's face suddenly twist in pain, and heard the blonde try to muffle a moan.

"Seifer your hand is hurting again!" he said, looking at Seifer with worried eyes. "Ah, it's ok.." Seifer said through clenched
teeth, but Squall noticed the blonde's hand was shaking. "No it's not, and now I'm taking you to see Kadowaki." he said firmly.
"But Squall, she'll-"

"No buts Seifer. I can see you're in pain, and I don't want to see you suffer." The blonde boy frowned as a protest, but threw the
sheets aside and stood up from the bed. Squall gave him a pleased nod and went to the blonde's closet. "Here, can you get these
on?" Seifer was handed some worn black jeans and a tight red shirt. Squall helped him get dressed and they left the room.
"I should have showered first." Seifer noted, as they walked down the hall. It was still early, so there weren't many students
on the corridors. "I think my stomach is still sticky from your...your ...well, you know Squall..." Seifer whispered, sounding
ashamed. Squall smiled when he thought about what they had done last night. "It won't take long Seifer. Kadowaki will just
check your hand and give you something for the pain. *We* can shower when we get back." he said and squeezed the blonde's
tight ass, first making sure there was no one around. Seifer smiled, but the pain he was in, made it look more like a grimace than
a smile. They walked the rest of the way in silence. Their pace was slow, for Seifer's steps were hesitant, even if Squall was
guiding him with his hand. Every now and then the blonde slowed down and felt the air with his hand.

"Maybe you should think of using a-"

"Don't even say it Squall! I'm *not* getting any kind of a walking-stick or a staff! That would make me look stupid..." Seifer
exclaimed and continued walking. Squall just shook his head and kept his hand on Seifer's back to guide him, but did it so that
no one would notice he was doing it. That way it was less humiliating for the always so proud Seifer.

Finally they reached their destination. Squall led Seifer into the waiting room and made him sit down on a bench. He looked
around and noticed Kadowaki was nowhere to be seen. 'Guess we'll just have to wait then...' the brunette sat down next to Seifer
and leaned back on the bench. "You think the doc will believe me, if I say it was an accident?" Seifer asked, sounding nervous.
"What was an accident Seifer?" It was Dr. Kadowaki, who had entered the room without either of them noticing this. Seifer
turned his head into the direction he heard the doc's voice come from. "I-I..ah..I mean.." Seifer faltered. "Seifer! What
happened to your hand?!" the doc asked with a worried voice. "*An accident*?" She was narrowing her eyes. "Come now, let
me see it." The doc walked to Seifer and lead him in the examination-room near by. She made the blonde sit down and
unwrapped the bandages Squall had put on last night. A frown made its way onto the doc's face when she saw the many wounds
in the hand. She opened her mouth to say something, but closed it, when she saw the ashamed look on Seifer's face. Squall
watched her clean the cuts and put on a new and a better bandage. Kadowaki left the room and came back with a little vial in
her hand. She filled a syringe with medicine from the vial and emptied it into Seifer's vein. "Aaaah!" the blonde yelped when he
suddenly felt stinging on his hand. Squall gave Kadowaki a questioning look. "That was for the pain. It's *very* effective and
will last long, but it will probably make Seifer really drowsy and delirious, so you'd better take him to his room." Squall gave
the doctor a nod and took Seifer's hand to lead them out of the Infarmiry.

He kept his eyes on Seifer and tried to see if the medicine was already working. The blonde didn't look a least bit drowsy or
delirious. They soon reached the main hall. 'Oh no!' Squall frowned when he saw Zell waving at him from the elevator steps.
"Yo! Squall! Wazzup?" The blonde ran down the stairs and stopped in front of them. Squall saw the look Zell gave Seifer and
glared at the small blonde. "Morning Zell.." Seifer said, though his eyes didn't meet Zell's, for Zell was a lot shorter than he
was. The younger blonde raised one brow as he let his eyes travel on Seifer's body. He just shook his head and turned to face
Squall. "Squall, where were you last night? Didn't hear you go into your room." The brunette looked uneasy. He remained silent
and tried to avoid Zell's gaze. Squall was about to speak, when he suddenly heard Seifer mumble something. The blonde took a
few steps back and held his head. The medicine Kadowaki had given him was starting to show signs that it was working.
Seifer's eyelids slowly fluttered close and he started to sway.

"What's up with him?" Zell asked, looking at Seifer, a bit amused. Squall was having a hard time supporting his friend, and
trying to prevent him from falling down. "Ahh, nothing...We have to go now!" With this said, Squall began to lead Seifer into
the direction of their dorm-rooms. Zell didn't understand Squall's odd behaviour. 'Why's he with Seifer anyway? ...And they
weren't even fighting..'


"Seifer! Don't you dare fall asleep *now*! You'll have to wait 'till we're in your room." Squall was using all his strength to
support the tall blonde. He tried to get Seifer to lean against a wall and to tap the code to open his door. "Come on...I know you
can still use your fingers Seifer..." Squall groaned and guided Seifer's hand up to the key-panel. Luckily the blonde was able to
open the door, tapping the code out of memory and habit. Once inside, Squall threw Seifer on the bed and fell down next to
him, panting hard. His legs were shaking and his forehead was glistening with sweat. "Mmmh...flowers..uhh..I want a cookie
too.." Seifer was mumbling, his eyes closed. "What?" Squall asked, frowning in confusion. 'Oh yeah, the doc said the drug
would make him delirious..' He smiled when he watched the sleepy blonde beside him. Squall curled up next to him, smirking,
when he thought about the shower they were supposed to take. 'Wonder when will he be back from the land of ignorance'
