Disclaimer: Square-Enix and its associates own Final Fantasy, not I. That having been said, let's get this show on the road.

This Prologue is meant to familiarize new readers to the direction of this story, as so they're not confused from the onset. Though set in the Final Fantasy universe, it includes a good deal of original characters, and exists in a sketchy period in the FF7 timeline.

Enjoy.

Five years…
Before the crisis of Meteor.
Eight years…
Before the advent of Sephiroth's children.
Before the Turks were five.
There were six.
(This was before VII, too.)

There is a tale once told in this world that you do not know.
A story of heroism written by `heroes' forgotten.

They were the few, the proud, the elite. The… Almost infamous.

They were the replacement Turks.

The war in Wutai is coming to a close and a new era, under the complete ownership of the Shin-Ra Electric Company, has begun. On a mission to escort a group of engineers to a Wutai Continent site, disaster strikes. Vice President Rufus, Verd, the leader of the Turks, Reno, Rude, and Tseng are critically injured, and stranded. The mission is at a stand still.

Scarlet and the others in charge of the defense of Midgar and its properties in Wutai are forced to quickly find four candidates to assist the Turk who was not a part of the mission, Vincent Valentine, in securing the safety of the injured workers, and the complete Operation: Morningstar with the sole surviving engineer: a young scientist named Shera. Those who are chosen have questionable backgrounds to say the least… But talent all the same.

Things will go awry. Alliances will be made and broken, and a new threat will reveal itself. But through it all, these six will find a bond between themselves so strong, and make an impact so great (if silent), that it will set into motion the events of the story we call Final Fantasy VII.

* * *

"You're wrong if you're under the impression that you can buy my respect. It'll take more than your wallet and your lips to do that, Scarlet."

Seiji.

//Mercenary once hired by AVALANCHE and participated in raids on Shin-Ra facilities. Since then, he has worked for various outfits, always jumping bandwagons for the highest bidder. Currently, this would be Scarlet.//

* * *

"I'm the most deadly human being in the world and no one gives half a shit."

Lilith.

//The first and only female to ever reach SOLDIER status, Lilith is an
expert in the art of the sword and has played a key role in keeping Wutai
under Shin-Ra regulation. Despite this, she has recieved little if any acclaim
from her colleagues, who persist in telling her she still has a lot to learn.//

* * *

"You expect me to fear a suit like you? I know what it's like to wait in the dark for torture- trust me. Bring it."

Ahmond.

//Bare knuckle boxer who hails from Mideel and has been accused recently
for beating a man to death in Midgar Slums. He is currently imprisoned inside of
the Shin-Ra headquarters facility, awaiting trial.//

* * *

"They refuse to tell me what happened to her. No matter- I'll soon find out."

Vincent.

//Vincent Valentine has been reinstated as a part of the Turks, just prior to the failed operation in Wutai that ended with the original members stranded. He is different, yet he doesn't know why. He doesn't know why he follows command without question, without the innate distrust he once knew. He is unsure of what lies in the missing sections of his memories. He does know that it is only a matter of time before he understands everything - but at what cost is he willing to learn the truth?//

* * *

"I don't take coffee. It's all about steady hands. Steady hands, steady hands for the wires, steady hands for the wrench, calibration - definately requires steady hands, you know. I'll take tea, though. I have to tell you: I make fine tea."

Shera.

//Shin-Ra Electric Company employee who works in the prepulsion laboratory. Chosen as a replacement engineer to be taken to Wutai to assess weapon inventory, under the guard of the Turks.//
* * *

"Every time I do it... It feels as if it's not even me. Like I'm only a conduit. Sometimes it's beyond my will."

Annabel.

//A woman known as the only living 'true mage'. Has the ability to cast powerful magic spells without any sort of aid from materia whatsoever. She is without restriction - and without control.//

Before the Turks were five.
They were switched.
By six.

And they would change everything.
