*~*~*

Slowly, she felt herself wake up after a long sleep. Lenne felt totally and utterly at peace. The early sunlight was in her room, making her sea walls come to life with bright color. The curtains flowing in the wind, carrying with it the smells of a lively Zanarkand. The girl stretched and laid back, amrs flung over her head. She didn't feel like getting up at the moment, even while her hand maid was ringing the bell for breakfast. Rolling her doe-brown eyes, Lenne reluctantly got up, taking off her nightgown and reaching for her blue dress, grabbing her boots and black string to put on her upper arms. After dressing in the bathroom after a hot shower, the summoner braided her back hair and let the beads fall over her shoulders. Lenne applied light violet eyeshadow and black eyeliner to her eyes and a touch of pale, pearl pink gloss on her lips. Her loose hair shone in the morning light, the side skirt twinkling slightly from the shimmery fabric. Smiling, Lenne twirled around in the mirror and flashed a saucy wink.

She walked down the iron banister, seeing her breakfast out before her on the mahogany table. The summoner also noticed that her father wasn't there. "Where's my father?," Lenne asked her hand maid. "He went into work early this morning."

"Aha..."

Sitting down softly, Lenne began to eat her French toast, chewing slowly. Thoughts of last night drifted in and out of her head, making a slight huey blush cover her cheeks and a faint smile play on her lips. The pianist was gorgouse. Sun-kissed blonde locks and a caramel tan to die for! And those eyes...!!! Lenne longed for the sea, but once she saw those eyes, she felt settled and at home when she thought of those pretty windows to the pianist's soul. It was something about the ocean that made Lenne want to run away from her hometown and into the unknown... with the pianist. Giggling some, the girl wiped her mouth, gulped down some orange juice, and stood, brushing loose crumbs from her vest. "I'm going to walk around before I head into the department," Lenne yelled to the hand maid, hoping she could hear it from the kitchen.

"Yes, my lady."

Lenne picked up her plate, silverware, and glass and took it in there. "Thank you. If anyone come asking for me, tell them were I am, please?" The hand maid smiled secretly to herself. "Yes, my lady." She knew what the mistress was talking about. Lenne wanted to tell her that if the pianist came by, tell him where she was. She watched the whole thing last night. It was about time fo rher to find someone to love her better than her father. The maid thought it was joyous the way Lenne looked when the pianist kissed her hand. Sighing to herself, the maid went on washing dishes.
*~*~*

Lenne was skipping.

Yes, skipping, like a little girl.

She didn't care if the whole town was watching her! She was in love! L-O-V-E: LOVE!!! Everything didn't seem to bland anymore. It was perfect, abso-posi-you-better-believe-it. The sky was an endless blue, the city was more colorful, the sounds of music, machina, and fun crashed into her eardrums, making her blood pound with excitement. She wanted to play and be free like a butterfly. Lenne approached the departement where summoners trained. It was called the Zanarkand Aeon Training Center for the Gifted, or ZATCG. The people of Bevelle didn't believe summoners should be used to defend Zanarkand and thought them better for their Yevon beliefs and purposes. Lenne dispised that idea. She loved her aeons and cared for them the best way possible, even to fight back, though it was awfully wrong. However, the old people of Zanarkand that were once-summoners trained the newcomers, making it twice as difficult to practice without being ridiculded. Taking a breath, Lenne pushed back her happiness and walked into the air-conditioned entrance hall, blinking hard. The sunlight made her vision bright. Trying to get used to her surroundings, Lenne approached the desk.

"Hi, Vince. How are you this morning?," asked the girl, smiling.

The blonde with red streaks in his hair lifted his liquid-paper face to Lenne and flashed a pearly smile as well, his gold cat-eyes shinning. "Quite lovely, now that you're here." Vince Constantine was a flirt and major playboy around the inner heart of Zanarkand. He wore a tight, black turtleneck with its sleeves cut off with a silver vest over it, black belts and gold buttons decorating it. He stood and handed Lenne the sign-in clipboard, revealing baggy navy pants with silver buckles and black belts around his thighs and silver chunky boots. Lenne rolled her eyes toward the ceiling. "Jeeze, Vince... going somewhere later?" The boy laughed charmingly. "Possibly- wanna join me?," he teased.

"Do that and I'll break up with you," came a voice from his left. Kyra Jules entered in her scarlet and gold robes, her black hair pulled up in two ponytails, her olive complexion glowing, her face flushed and green eyes bright. "Got finished with old man Rashad... he's in a good mood for some odd reason," Kyra said, before placing a kiss on her boyfriend's cheek. Lenne sighed. "Good. I thought I would've gotten stuck with that witch Belegmine. She's so tough! She says Bahamut looks poorly everytime I call on it... I've been taking great care of my dragon!," Lenne complained, pouting cutely.

"How's Ixion been doing? I heard that yesterday the horse collasped after Belegmine's Shiva thrashed it," Vince asked, concerned.

"I gave him some special medicine from Djose last night. He's in great shape."

A bell chimed, warning the summoners that 9:30 was here and it was time for the next batch. Lenne glanced at her instructor's name. "Yes! Rashad! See ya soon, you two. Don't do anything you might regret," Lenne said jokingly, smiling largely. Vince's grin matched hers. "Tell me something I don't know." Lenne left, hearing Krya's playful shrieks behind her. Walking down the dim corridor to the center, she saw the arena had been cleared of fiends and the instructors were taking a small break. Lenne walked over to Vish Rashad, a old gentleman from Besaid that was wise about aeons and White Magic. His bald head shinned in the torch light that came from the walls. Lenne loved his slightly wrinkled dark brown skin and his deep brown eyes, giving him the appearance of a grandfather. "Good morning, Miss Lenne. Shall we begin with Ifrit today?," Rashad asked kindly, an accent rolling off his tounge. She nodded and went to the side, picking up a staff from the rack. Going to the center of the arena, she closed her eyes and concentrated hard. Soon, she felt flames around her. Lenne's eyes snapped open and she twirled her staff in front of her once, and then over her head. She flung it to the side and held open her left hand, a small ball of fire hovering off it. Lenne slammed it to the ground and it rumbled. Underneath her broke through the hell dog Ifrit, dirt and rock and flame sprouting everywhere.

Lenne jumped off its back and patted its nose, the intense heat radiating off of the dog not bothering her. "Beautiful call, Lenne. Now, I'm releasing a Dancing Ochu. Get ready," called out Rashad, pulling a chain. Out came the Ochu, looking for its opponent. Lenne looked into her dog's eyes. "Do what I say carefully and you can go home soon, okay?," she whispered, smiling gently. The dog gave a short bark as if saying yes and leaned back on its hindquaters, snarling at the Ochu, its ruby-gold eyes on it. Lenne swung her right arm back, shouting, "FIRAGA!"

The powerful, third-level spell engulfed the fiend, making it shriek. "Half it's health points are avalible," Lenne told herself, scanning the monster quickly. The Ochu flailed it long tentacles at Ifrit, knocking out 456 of its health points, immune to its poison touch. "METEOR STRIKE!," shouted Lenne, pointing at the Ochu. Ifrit pulled back, releasing a large meteor surrounded in flame and punched it at the Ochu, knocking out a good 981, leaving 24 more to go. The Ochu let out a Ochu Dance, only to have Ifrit put up its immune barrier. "ATTACK! Finish it off right now!," Lenne whooped, smiling. The dog ran to the plant and swiped its massive claws at it, KO'ing it. "YEAH!!! WE DID IT!," squealed Lenne, jumping up and down, staff flailing. Rashad was smiling largely, placing points on his clipboard of Lenne's progress. "Excellent. Magnificant. Your father will be pleased to find out tonight."

The girl stopped, turning. "What do you mean, tonight?"

"Don't you remember? It's the Aeon Masqurade Ball, sponsored by your father's political office. He invited the entire ZATCG committee, including the people we instruct." Lenne felt her happy balloon from inside inflate. 'No... I don't want him to parade me around again. I want to go look for that pianist tonight.' Lenne walked slowly the staff rack and placed hers down. "Belegmine wants to train with you now with Bahamut." The girl sighed, feeling pressure upon her shoulders beginning to arise. "All right..." Moping, the summoner sulked while walking down to the next room where the great ex-summoner trained in. She stood in the center in her green and yellow robes, gray eyes on Lenne as she walked in. "You're a minute and 15 seconds late, Miss Lenne. Why don't we skip the formalities and summon up that dreadful aeon you call Bahamut," rang out her steel voice, making Lenne want to hit her. "Yes, ma'am," she said lowly, hands clenching into fists.

Picking up her practice staff from the rack, Lenne waved it around her body twice and flung it up, standing on her toes, one leg sticking out. A whirlwind surrounded her, tossing Lenne's hair everywhere. She concentrated on calling the dragon and a roar echoed in the dome arena. It pummled out of the sky and landed hard on the ground, making debris fly around her. It roared once more and crossed its heavy arms over its chest, glaring down at Belegmine, pulsing in silvery light. "Not bad- for once. Let's see it against my aeon. The one your pitiful horse couldn't even scratch," Belegmine smirked, and she snapped her fingers. She summoned her own aeon-

Shiva.

Lenne gulped and bit her bottom lip. The ice goddess stood there proudly, wintry steam circling around its blue, clawed feet. 'She's different- something's different... OH, NO! She's maxed out! Bahamut might not stand a chance!!!,' Lenne thought widly, putting a hand on her mouth. "Yes, my Shiva has reached her potential. Scared, Miss Lenne?" The girl looked up at Bahamut and it stared down at her, almost calm and serene. Lenne then felt confident. She smiled and looked at Belegime straight in the eye.

"No, WE are not."

Belegmine looked taken back. Lenne raised her head and shouted, "IMPULSE, NOW!" Shiva was unprepaired for the attack and shrieked as the dark magic knocked out a good 1,345 out of her health. It glared at Bahamut and sniffed. Tossing back its hair, Shiva placed out its hand and cast Blizzara on the dragon. Only 450.

"ATTACK!"

1,872...

Shiva attacked him as well...

"IMPULSE!"

1,346...

Shiva was very mad and so, it struck three times. Bahamut was looking rather poorly. Lenne was worried. She would NOT allow Belegmine win. Not this time. She then noticed Bahamut's Overdrive was up. Somethimes the powerful attack couldn't knock out much, but Lenne had been traning Bahamut harder than usual. Drawing a breath, the girl said clearly and loudly, "Mega Flare." Shiva paused, not knowing what to do. The dragon gathered itself and clenched its fists. It summoned all its strength to bring down the ice goddess, after releasing its most powerful attack. The dust cleared and Shiva layed on the floor, KO'ed completely. Belegmine looked extremely pissed as she called Shiva back after healing it. "Not too bad... a lack finesse... but not bad," muttered the trainer, frowing. Lenne gave her a grin. "Thank you. May I go on now?" Belegmine waved off her hand and stalked off. The girl was so happy, she jumped forward and hugged Bahamut's leg. "Thank you, friend... I can always count on you," she whispered to it, feeling her dragon's pride swell within her, and also love and affection. Lenne sent it off and walked out of the arena, her true smile back on her face.
*~*~*

Kyra was filing away some papers, humming one of Lenne's songs, when she heard a door open. Lifting her ebony head, she saw a drop-dead, handsome stranger. He seemed a bit... mad, but also in a daze, his blue eyes dark. "May... may I help you?," she offered quietly, her eyes wide with surprise. "No, thank you. I was just looking for someone. I found her," he mumbled, stopping short. Kyra nodded some. "That's great- oh, Lenne!" The man lifted his head and saw the lovely vision before him, hugging the black-haired girl, possibly her friend. "I did it! Belegmine the witch was SO pissy! I showed her, though! Talk about my Bahamut like that and I'll give 'em a swift kick in the ass... wha-

YOU!!!"

Lenne was pointing at the stranger, her doe brown eyes large like saucers, mouth opened. The man gave her a weak smile and dashed off in a flurry of blonde. "Who was that?," breathed Kyra, tugging at Lenne's arm. The summoner was still in shock. "The pianist from last night! I forgot to tell you but my father had company over and asked me to sing with the piano and He was playing it!!! I thought I'd never see him again...," Lenne finished softly, a light pink color on her cheeks. Kyra giggled and pinched her friend's arm. "Someone's in love!" Lenne glared at Kyra, playfully. "Yeah, right. It was because of the music. He's really good." Kyra nodded, walking off, gathering her papers. "Uh-huh, yeah, right, sure." Lenne stomped her foot. "What IS it with people and my love life?!?!! ARRGGG!"
