“I can't believe that the Aurochs are gonna get to play against you!” Tidus was joyous, beyond joyous, the Besaid Aurochs were going to play the Gull Wings in the tournament semi-finals. This in Tidus' mind means, “I get to play my first blitzball match in two years against Yuna and Rikku!”
“How good are you guys? Is your goalie good? Can he block my Jecht shot? What position do you play? Wait, what position do I play?!” Yuna was starting to get very annoyed with all the questions about blitzball. She was ready to tell him to shut it when he ran to get Wakka to tell him his position.
Ever since he learned that Yuna was on a team he seemed to always be asking questions about it. Sure, in the beginning he wanted to know about Shuyin and Lenne but that quickly faded away. But how much could she blame him really? Blitzball was his life in Zanarkand and now she was playing it too. Of course he's going to be ecstatic. Yuna was just glad he was back. After all, hadn't she wanted to be able to play blitzball with him if he ever came back?
And now that Sin and Vegnagun are gone the world was finally at peace. No more pilgrimages and fighting for your life. Even the fiend population was decreasing. She could finally live happily and in peace.
Yuna decided to go down to her favorite spot next to the docks on the beach where no one else knew about, to think about all the things that have happened the past week or so. On her way down to the coast a woman stopped her. She was extremely beautiful with light brown hair tied back down with a braid reaching below her waist. She had a pink dress with a red jacket on. She was smiling making her eyes seem even more emerald than they already were. “Would you like one?” She asked, holding out a basket full of roses.
Yuna's eyes widened in surprise. Roses were very rare in Spira, she had only seen one her entire life. “There only one Gil.” She continued. Yuna gaped at her. She shook her head and managed to say, “Yes…., please.” She pulled one Gil out of her jean pocket and handed it to her. She held the delicate flower in one hand, marveling at its beauty.
The flower girl looked over at the sea and sighed. Yuna looked at it too. “What's wrong?” She asked.
The woman looked over and shook her head. “Nothing, it's just that where I come from the sea isn't as half as beautiful as this one.”
When she said that Yuna noticed something. There was no ship in the dock or out at sea. “And where was it that you came from?” Yuna asked nicely, still trying to figure out how she had gotten here. She couldn't have swum, her dress was dry. A small breeze blew past them. Yuna's hair tickled her face.
The woman smiled a small smile. “Midgar.” Was all she said.
Now Yuna was even more confused. There was no place called Midgar in Spira. Maybe she was like Tidus, Yuna thought, washed up having no idea where she is. She realized that that was impossible, Sin was dead, the faiths had disappeared, and Yu Yevon was gone. There was no way she could've come from another dream world.
“Midgar?” The woman nodded again. Yuna looked back down at the small rose she was holding. “What is….” Yuna looked up to find her gone. “Your name….” She finished lamely. Instead of heading towards her spot, she turned around to talk to Lulu back at the village about the mysterious stranger. She held the rose up and started to twirl it slowly between two fingers.
The rose was so beautiful; it seemed to catch the sunlight perfectly. She gazed at it up close, it seemed to represent something. A flash of bright light surrounded her and suddenly she was on her knees, her hands clasped in prayer. She could see a man struggling with his sword in front of her. His appearance was cloudy, but everything else looked so real. She felt something slide through her. She looked down to see a sword through her stomach. It didn't hurt like it was supposed to, but her blood looked so real….She slid forward on the sword…….
Just as suddenly as it happened she was back looking at the rose. She gasped and dropped the rose. Her whole body was shaking all over. She felt close to tears, though she knew that didn't happen to her, it must've been how the woman died. But she didn't see any pyreflies, she looked as real as…Auron.
“Why….,” She began quietly, “Why does everything happen to me!?” She was now screaming at the top of her lungs. “Just as soon as something right goes on in my life, something bad immediately follows!” She shook her head and screamed. “NO! I'm not going to be brought into another battle, let someone else handle it!” She hoped whoever she was screaming at was the one who twisted her cruel fate. She decided to take Tidus' advice and yell. “Ahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!”
The yell made some of the anger edge away. No more adventures, no one will have to know and I can finally have some peace. Someone else will just have to save the world this time. Even though she thought it, she couldn't help but feel guilty that she's telling someone else to risk their life for the world. She bent her knees and picked up the rose.
She made sure not to look at it as she walked across the bridges and into the village. In the center the Aurochs were practicing for the tournament. Tidus was trying to show Botta how to block a venom pass when he noticed Yuna. He stopped and waved at her before getting hit in the head with a blitzball. He looked over angrily at Keepa who tried to look innocent.
Yuna kept her hand over her mouth to stop the laughter while waving back with the hand that held the rose. Even in the solemn mood she was just in she couldn't help but laugh at Tidus who was now running after Keepa with a blitzball in his hand, ready to throw.
Wakka came out of his hut and yelled for them to cut it out and get back to work. Tidus rubbed the back off his head and walked towards Yuna. “Hey Yuna, Rikku and Paine are here.” Rikku had gone off to the Bikanel Desert to help with the building of Home. Paine never told anyone where she went off to.
“Really? Wonder why they're here.” She headed towards Wakka's where she guessed Rikku would be playing with Lulu and Wakka's baby. She opened the curtains to see Rikku currently holding the baby in her arms. Paine was standing with her arms crossed looking at Rikku with a hint of a smile.
“Rikku?” Yuna asked. Rikku looked up and grinned. She handed the baby back to Lulu and hugged her. “Yunie!” She yelled. As glad as she was to see her cousin, she was still curious of why they were here.
Yuna pried Rikku off her and looked at Paine. “Ummm, not that I'm not glad to see you and all, but, why are you here?”
Rikku looked at her curiously. “Did you forget already? We have to go to Luca to scout for a new left forward!”
Yuna had forgotten. “O right! Sorry, I'll just go tell Tidus.” She made to walk out the door when Rikku took hold of her arm. She looked down at her hand to see the rose still in it.
“Is that a rose?” Rikku asked.
“Ummm, ya, I…..found it….on the way to the beach.” The lie was good enough for Rikku. Lulu and Paine, however, looked curiously at her.
“Jeez, Yuna, do you know how rare roses are?” Rikku questioned, now staring at it in her hand.
Yuna nodded her head. “I was going to give it to Lulu when Tidus told me you were here.” She walked over to Lulu. “Here.” She held the rose out for Lulu to take.
“Thank you, Yuna.” Lulu gently took the rose from her hand and stood up to put it in a vase.
“Well, I'll go tell Tidus now.” She hurried out the curtains and found Tidus practicing his Sphere Shot. All the Aurochs were watching him with mouths open in shock at his impressive skill. “Tidus!” She called to him.
He jogged over to her. “Ya?”
“I'm going to Luca with Rikku and Paine on the airship and…what?” Tidus was giving her his best puppy dog face. She tried to hold back a laugh but it exploded before she could get it under control. “What….is…that look….for?” She said between laughs.
He pretended to look hurt. “Hey! That's one of my best puppy faces!”
She stopped laughing long enough to speak. “I really hope that wasn't how you flirted with girls in Zanarkand.”
Tidus shook his head, pretending to be serious. “Nah, if I wanted a girl I liked to date me I usually gave her one of my knock-dead smiles. I only used that when I wanted to creep a girl out to stop her from checking me out.”
Yuna gaped at him. “I was not checking you out!”
He smiled. “Yes you were. I saw you staring at me while I performed the Sphere Shot. Though I don't doubt you, really, I do look my best-Heyyy!” He was interrupted when Yuna pushed him back playfully.
“I was not checking you out! High Summoner's don't check people out.” She stuck her tongue out at him, one of the habits she had picked up traveling with her cousin.
He grinned slyly at her. “And I'm guessing that they don't make out with one of their guardians in the Macalania pond either.”
She gaped at him. She worked her mouth opened and closed but try as she might she couldn't find a good comeback. I hate when he does that!
He laughed and said, “I win that one! But Yuna, I was going to ask if I could come along. I'd also like to see the new Blitzball players they have.” Yuna put her hands on her hips and leaned to the side. She thought about it before deciding.
“Alright you can come. The semi-finals are tomorrow after all.” Tidus made a fist in front of him and tightened it before letting it fall back to his side.

“Hey Shinra, what are these?” Tidus held up two dress spheres. Shinra looked back behind him.
“Those are dress spheres.”
“What are dress spheres?” Tidus asked, walking over to Shinra.
Yuna watched Tidus and Shinra talk about the different dress spheres from the stairs. Rikku snuck up behind her to see what she was looking at. She grinned when she followed her eyes to Tidus. “Cute, huh?”
“Ya….” She said dreamily. She hastily tried to correct herself when she figured out what Rikku had asked. “I mean, yes, no, I mean…”
Rikku rolled her eyes. “Jeez Yuna, you act like no one knows about you two.” Blood rushed up to Yuna's face. Rikku sighed. “Young love.”
Yuna giggled. “This coming from my younger cousin who hasn't even had one boyfriend?”
“Hey!” Rikku shouted in defense. “I do too have a boyfriend!”
“Oh really?” Yuna asked, not believing her. Brother had once told her that Rikku never once had a boyfriend. It was one of the perks of him having a crush on her, though it still freaked her out that her cousin liked her.
Rikku looked away guiltily. “Okay, maybe not, but no one who has asked me I actually liked.”
Yuna knew she would make Rikku angry, but curiosity overcame her. “What about you and Gippal?”
“What about me and Gippal!?” Rikku said angrily.
Yuna put her hands up in defense. “Hey, I'm just asking if he ever asked you out.”
Rikku looked down at her toes. “To tell the truth you have a better chance of him asking you.” She sounded a little disappointed.
Yuna's hand went to her mouth. “You like him, don't you?”
Rikku shushed her. “Okay, maybe a little, but he can't ever know! It's not like you and Tidus. He's not even anything like Tidus! He always waits for the girl to give him `the look' and then he flirts with her until he gets her into bed!”
“Why don't you give him `the look' than?”
“Three reasons: One is that I don't want to, well, you know, with him. Second is that he always picked on me whenever he could. Third is…..” She lowered her voice to a whisper. “I'm too shy.” Yuna burst out laughing at that. When she saw the look Rikku was giving her she immediately shut up.
“Sorry Rikku, but you? Shy? I never saw the day.” Yuna joked.
“Just don't tell him okay?” Yuna made a zipping motion across her mouth. She turned back to stare, watch Tidus fiddle around with the dress spheres.

“Ladies and gentlemen,” the loud speaker boomed across the Luca Stadium, “Welcome to the 1st semi-final of the championships. We have an interesting match happening today folks, the Besaid Aurochs captained by former guardian Wakka vs. the Gull Wings, captained by the High Summoner Yuna!”
Inside the locker room the loud applause were dulled out to almost nothing. “Okay, their best player is Ropp ya? But he's not what I'm worried about. Yuna has gotten pretty good with her shooting and endurance. Her and Paine are gonna be the middle and right forward, watch out for them ya? And Tidus, don't hold back just cause she's your girlfriend.”
Tidus grinned up at him. “Nothing to worry about.”
“Alright, let's go show them how to blitz!” Wakka stuck his fist in the middle. The Aurochs formed a circle and copied him. “One, two, three, WIN!” Everyone shouted as they raised their fist up. The Aurochs hustled out the door leading to the Sphere Pool that was currently being filled up.
“And let's give a warm welcome back to Lady Yuna's guardian, Sir Tidus!” Applause thundered through the stands. Tidus smiled and waved. Just like Zanarkand, wonder if there's two girls in East block in the front row? Though Yuna probably wouldn't like it if I flirted with them.
On the other side of the sphere pool Yuna led the Gull Wings out. “The Lady Yuna and the Gull Wings!” Another thunderous applause filled the stands. Tidus smiled at Yuna and put his hands in a sideways oval in front of him, the blitzball sign for victory, then pointed at himself. Yuna, not understanding, just put two fingers in her mouth and blew.
Even through the sound of the crowd Tidus made out the shrill whistle. He smiled and dived into the Sphere Pool, closely followed by his team. The Gull Wings followed suit and soon Tidus and Yuna were swimming face to face. They shook each other's hand and swam back to their respective spots.
Tidus and Yuna took their spots on the blitz off circle and waited. The blitzball started to spin rapidly and shot off into the water. Tidus was the first one to reach it and threw it over to Jassu. Jassu swam as far as he could before Brother tackled him, causing him to drop the ball.
The ball was caught by Rikku. She passed it over to Paine who dropped it. This time Letty caught the ball. He threw the ball to Tidus who was not too far from the goal. Tidus caught it while back flipping over Ropp. Ropp watched him in amazement as Tidus let the ball fall from his hands and Sphere Kicked it towards the goalie, Shinra. Shinra tried to stop it but wasn't quick enough. The buzzer sounded and the blitzball was repositioned
in the middle. Tidus swam back and slapped Letty's hand.
The ball was shot off again but Yuna was lucky enough to catch it. She looked for her open team mate but was tackled by Tidus. In the midst of the tackle Tidus grabbed the ball. He used his foot to bounce off Yuna's back and swam as fast as he could toward the opponent's goal again. Yuna quickly recovered and searched out Tidus for revenge. When she spotted him swimming towards the goal she swam after him.
Tidus didn't notice Yuna coming from behind him until she tackled him so hard he flew right into the stands. She crossed her arms and smiled innocently at him as the buzzer went off, marking the end of the half. He recovered and stood up, still looking pleased with himself even being tackled out of the sphere pool. He pointed at the score board and pointed at him nodding yes then pointing at her shaking his head no.
After the five minute break the teams swam back into the Sphere Pool. The ball spun again and shot off. Tidus caught it and threw to Jassu. After throwing it he made a gesture with his right hand to Jassu. Jassu caught the ball and immediately threw it back up past Tidus out of the top of the Sphere Pool. The ball spun past Yuna and two other Gull Wings who watched in amazement as Tidus jumped out of the sphere pool and sphere shot the ball.
Tidus looked backwards ready to kick the ball when he saw the biggest monster he ever saw, including Sin. Instead of kicking the ball he grabbed it and plunged back into the Sphere Pool before coming back up. Tidus looked over to the announcer's box and pointed to the monster.
“Ladies and gentleman it appears Sir Tidus is pointing at something….What in the world is that?!” The entire stadium jumped at of their seats and up the steps to see what Tidus was pointing at. The entire crowd all shouted once they saw the huge monster and started scrambling over each other to get out of the stadium. Tidus dove back down and took Yuna by the hand, motioning everyone to follow him. Instead of swimming towards the end where the monster wasn't at, he swam towards the monster.
Once out of the sphere pool Tidus ran out towards the docks. “Tidus, what's wrong?” Yuna asked breathlessly as she ran after him.
“Just follow me!” Once at the docks he could see that the monster was now creating giant waves to crash down on the docks. Yuna stopped running and looked at the monster. It was taller than Sin and appeared to be a lot more human like. On its shoulders were mounted two missile launchers, except instead of robotic ones they appeared to be part of it. The missile launchers opened up, Inside of each was what appeared to be two orbs. The orbs started to glow. Its chest opened up to reveal another orb, it too was glowing.
“It's going to launch something at us.” Tidus warned her. Rikku and Paine had also finally caught up to Tidus and both stared up in shock at the creature. The orbs kept glowing brighter and brighter until a stream of energy came out of it. The ray hit the stadium causing it to explode. Huge pieces of rock and marble landed all about them. Tidus looked up to see the part of the stadium they were standing under explode off and come hurtling down. The last thing Tidus remembered doing was running towards Yuna.

Okay, that was my longest chapter yet. But I did have fun writing it. Especially the blitzball part. I love blitzball! I hope I live long enough to be able to create it using liquid air and invisible sphere walls. Ooooo that'd be awesome. Anyways, Review!
