An Unexpected Outcome

Mrs. Dincht was delighted to see more friends of Zell. "Is everyone hungry? I have plenty!" she said, cheerfully.

They all nodded and replied. "Yes ma'am!" All except Seifer which nodded gruffly in reply.

As they ate, rather quickly, Selphie glanced up at Irvine to see him gazing at her. She blushed and glanced back down at her bowl.

All of them finished rather quickly and stood. Mrs.Dincht came back with a saddened face.

"Well I didn't expect so many of you…so I don't have enough rooms."

"I'll go to the hotel…" Seifer said. "I have some extra gil to spend." He bowed his head. "Thank you for dinner, Mrs.Dincht." And walked out.

Irvine, Selphie, Zell and Jewel's mouths flew open. They never heard Seifer say 'Thank you' before.

"I'll go too…" Leona said, with a smile. "Thank you so much Mrs. Dincht." She went over and gave her a big huge and after took a step back and bowed her head. She took her gun blade and left.

"Sefie and I will go too." Irvine inquired. "Zell and Jewel need to spend some time together alone. Thank you, Mrs. Dincht."

"Thank you!" Selphie added and went over to hug the woman. "I'm sorry we came and just ate and left…you're the best, Mrs. Dincht!"

"Oh no problem, dear!" Mrs. Dincht replied. "I love all of you like my little Zelly. You all are angels!"

They smiled and walked out. Selphie waved as they left toward Jewel and Zell. Leaving Zell and Jewel alone with Mrs.Dincht, Mrs. Dincht yawned.

"Well, I'll leave you two alone…"

"Thanks mom…" Zell replied, as she started to leave.

"I'll be going to bed. Good night."

"Night mom."

"Good night Mrs. Dincht." Jewel added, softly.

And with that, Mrs. Dincht trudged up the stairs and disappeared.

"Zell…"

"Yeah?"

Jewel sighed. "I'm really sorry…"

"I know you are." He smiled and crossed his arms.

She gazed down upon the floor. "I just feel really bad about this whole thing and-"

He cupped her chin and lifted her face up gently, forcing her to gaze into his loving eyes. Her eyes became teary.

Then the kiss was made…

The kiss was so beautiful…so memorable that tears streamed down Jewel's blushing cheeks, slowly. She knew that this was the start of a wonderful relationship. Even Zell could feel the magic in the air.

Mrs. Dincht watched, silently with a smile on her lips. Her little Zell was growing up so fast. From little boy to adult, he was her most precious thing and now…he was someone else's precious thing. She smiled and headed for bed.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Irvy! Stop that tickles!" Selphie giggled. After about five minutes when they first got their hotel room, he pounced on her and led her to the bed. Selphie didn't mind a bit. She giggled with delight. "Stop!"
Irvine grinned. "Sugar, I'm not done yet. Give this ol' cowboy a chance!" He grinned and ran his hand down her leg, slowly and his other hand running up her shirt. "Ready for some fun?"
Love making was definitely fun for both Selphie and Irvine. As Irvine watched the sleeping Selphie, he realized….he was hers forever and she was his. Her first lover, her best friend, her companion, her soul mate and this was the same for him too. She was his first lover, his best friend, his soul mate. A pang of sadness hit him like a bullet to the heart. He would have to leave her tomorrow…that broke his heart more than anything.
Stuff always happened to him. One moment, pure bliss the next in hell, but this time he would make sure hell wouldn't come.
To her or to him…
Tossing and turning, Leona quickly, sat up in her bed breathing, heavily. The moon's rays descended on her slender form, as she grimaced. She flinched as she tried to move her arm to wipe a bead of sweat off her forehead. She gazed down in the dark at her wrist and saw that it looked like ropes were around them and rather tightly. She studied her arms and found it to be black and blue.
Grimacing in pain, she touched her wrist and softly said, "Cure…"
Quickly the pain was relieved and the bruises were bruises no more. She did this for her arms and sighed, grabbing her clothes and began to dress. Something was wrong. She felt it deep in her soul and it chilled her thoroughly.
She quickly grabbed her gun blade and dashed out of her hotel room and down the stairs and out the hotel, hiding in the shadows, her amber orbs, glowing. Her spine tingled and she shuddered, silently. She sighed, softly, calming herself. It'll be okay…
Suddenly, a large bang was heard, followed by a sickening scream. Leona froze and turned, dashing off.
It came from the Dincht's house….
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

As soon as Leona arrived, she quickly entered. Zell was leaning beside a body and Jewel was staring at it and Zell, tears streaming down her cheeks. She had her mouth covered and wore a light pink bathrobe. Zell only had his boxers on which were covered with blood. She walked over to the two and Zell lifted his head up. She took a step back with shock; his eyes gleamed from his falling tears. Anger, hurt, shock and sadness filled his green gleaming orbs. He shook from holding in his emotions and his face was dead serious.

Leona took two steps forward and got down on one knee to find the limp form of Mrs. Dincht…

Her heart stopped. Everything stopped. This kind woman that treated her like a daughter was murdered right in her own home…she studied the limp body and found a bullet hole and a slash to the heart, blood oozed from the wound and the victim's mouth. Mrs. Dincht's eyes were crystallized and blank showing everyone that she was dead.

"Life…" whispered Leona, gingerly touching Mrs. Dincht's forehead.

Nothing…

She did it again.

Nothing…

Leona growled. "Someone has put a magic barrier on her!" Leona shook her head. "Damn it!" Her eyes widened, as she accidentally touched the wound where the bullet had been. "A gun blade did this…"

Zell's eyes widened and Leona felt him stare at her. "A gun blade?" he said, softly after a long pause.

"Yes…" Leona replied, calmly though inside she was being torn apart. "And someone put a magic barrier on her, I can't revive her…my magic is useless…"

Zell said nothing and gingerly grasped his mother's hand in his own. Leona felt so bad for him.

"Mom…"

"I'm so sorry, Zell." Leona apologized. "I'm so sorry…" she repeated.

Irvine, Selphie and Seifer burst in.

"What-" Selphie began and let out a cry. "Mrs. Dincht!"

"Oh Zell…" Jewel spoke, finally.

"Zell will you be okay?" Irvine asked a frown on his face. He really didn't know the woman and yet he did. She was always kind to him and the group. He felt bad for Zell.

Zell's fists shook in irritation. He was tired of everyone's pity! "DAMN IT!!" Zell screamed, violently. "I SWEAR I'LL GET WHOEVER DID THIS! I SWEAR! AND DON'T GIVE ME ANY DAMN PITY! I'M NOT WEAK!"

"How do we know Leona didn't do it?" Seifer inquired after Zell's outburst. "She could have done this and even from here I can see that a gun blade has killed your mother."

"How do we know you didn't do it…?" Leona snapped, bitterness dripping off every word.

"Now don't start making conclusions people!" Irvine sighed. "We'll find out who did it and-"

"Do you have a GF, Leona?" Zell asked, interrupting Irvine.

"No…"

"Then how can you use magic?" Zell asked.

"I'm a…I'm a-a sorceress…."

Everyone went suddenly quiet. The intensity was pervading through the whole room.

"Why do you have those eyes, Leona?" Zell asked after a long pause, breaking the silence.

"Because I was born with them…and my animal is the wolf. I have wolfen eyes…I can also transform into any animal…like the wolf…"

Seifer growled. "And you can't revive Mrs. Dincht?!"

"I-I can't…I never KNEW how to use my powers! ONLY A LITTLE BIT!" Leona growled, fangs sprouting out. "Don't mess with me, Seifer…" Leona said, darkly. Her eyes widened and she clutched her head. "NOOOOO! STOP!" She took a deep breath. "Keep control…"

Her head was pounding and she felt the eyes of everyone burn into her flesh. She rushed out the door, running as fast as she could.

She ran. Ran as far as her legs could take her. It was a full moon tonight. She howled, chillingly. A song of pain and sadness. Loneliness filled her heart.

"NOOOOOOOOO!" Her legs became suddenly hairy and shorter, but long wolfen legs. Her hands and feet became paws and her fingers and toes became claws. Her face became that of a wolf's until she was an all raven black wolf, with glowing amber eyes. She howled, as she approached the dock.

She collapsed and her paws went on top of her head. She whimpered. No…not now…

"Leona!" The whole group stood a distance away from the wild animal by the name Leona. All of them were shocked.

Leona picked up her head and gazed at all of them. Her coat of darkness shimmered in the light of the moon and she stood with all her glory, taking a step back, bowing her head in shame, tail tucked in between her legs. She whimpered and gazed up at the moon. She howled a song of sadness.

"Leona…" Selphie whispered, as she took a few steps forward. She didn't know why she was moving closer, but something told her to. She called to Leona softly. "Leona come here girl…" she held out her hand.

Leona gazed at her with wild eyes. She took a step forward and growled at the rest of the group.

Selphie turned to them. "Please stay back…" she said in a motherly voice. "She's frightened…embarrassed and angered…" Selphie turned back and took another step forward, crouching down. "Come here girl…"

Selphie's words were kind and gentle. Leona's mind was going everywhere. Growl…bite! Go! Lick! Whimper…howl…

Leona took a step back and howled again. Selphie began to hum, softly. It was an old lullaby she heard from a woman singing to her baby.

~+~ Come here little darling.

I am here for you.

So many mysteries that we must see through.

Hear my crying angel, come into my arms.

Let me help you, Sunshine.

I am here for you…

You are mysterious and yet so glorious…

So helpless and alone.

Let me help you now with my own love.

Let us see this through.

Come here my darling.

I am here for you…~+~

As Selphie sang the little tune, Leona ran to her and whimpered, softly, nuzzling her neck. Selphie embraced the wolf and petted her, softly. "It's ok now…"

Irvine was more than amazed. He was REALLY amazed. His Sefie calmed a wild beast. He was more than impressed. He was REALLY impressed and as he glanced at everyone else, so were they.

"Go back to bed…we will talk in the morning." Selphie said, calmly, continuing to pet the wolf.

They nodded and Seifer, Jewel and Zell left rather slowly, looking back a few times to gaze at the raven black wolf and the little woman who saved the animal.

Irvine sighed and crouched down a little beside Selphie, watching in wonder as the wolf laid herself down and closed her amber-colored orbs. Selphie still continued to pet her in long simple strokes. In the inside Irvine was a little jealous. He wanted to be petted by his lover, but kept it to himself. Leona needed it more than him.

Leona let out a little yawn as she put her head on Selphie's lap.

"Irvy go get a blanket…"Selphie whispered.

Irvine nodded and headed off, with a little smile. His thoughts were all on Selphie. She would be such a good mother. The best one in the whole damn world! Inside he hoped that she would mother HIS children, but put it aside. She was too young and he…well…he had to wait until she was ready, but waiting was so hard…

He sighed and trudged on.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Leona woke up with a start the next morning. She was in her hotel room and she was completely nude. She gazed around the room and saw Selphie in a chair sleeping. Leona sighed. Last night was a full moon, her transformation accrued. She continued to look around and saw that her clothes now ripped and shredded, sat on top of the hotel's dresser and a new pair of clothes were beside it. She stood, silently, careful not to wake Selphie and picked up the new pair of clothes, a white loose shirt and black short. What a conincedence…she smiled and saw a new pair of white socks and a new pair of black tennis shoes just like her old ones. She studied a pair of underwear that was under everything and laughed, mentally. It was pink and had white, laughing bunnies as the designs. Weird…yet very humorous! She never liked pink, but what the hell these things were damn cute!
She quickly dressed and glanced around and found Lovely Loire beside the other side of her bed opposite from Selphie. She silently went and snatched it; she walked to the door and stopped in her tracks. A knife tip was poking out of her hotel door and she walked over to it and opening the door, quietly, she looked to see a knife stuck in her door and a note that it hung. She took the knife out. Taking the note, she began to read it:
Dear Leona,
You have gotten soft, no? Transforming and running to a wench that sings to you. I knew you loved music, but I would never have expected that from you! Do you know who I am? I have your dear cousin…
If you ever want to see him again, come to me, my dear. You know if you don't I'll kill everyone you meet. Like I've been doing in the past, eh? Yes that was me doing all the killing and you got the blame, right my dear? Come to me at Trabia ruins…and if you thought it was rebuilt you've been mistaken! I have made it ruins again and killed everyone to make sure it's only you and me, my dear. Come to me alone…
She read the note over a few more times and glanced down at the floor. Who was this person? A stalker? A killer? Yes…she knew now who killed Mrs. Dincht and growled, softly. Whoever it is will pay! Then her thoughts traveled to everyone else the person killed…everywhere she went people- nice or not- were dying around her and everyone had to blame her because they had no one else to blame. It was sad really…everyone that was nice to her and liked her for who she was died, but she wasn't too sad for the people that treated her like a begging dog- which she wasn't! - And shunning her away. She would find this person and put a stop to all the chaos…and get her cousin back.
Alone…
