A Sibling War

Leo turned to look at her and sighed. His younger sister was still so innocent in his eyes. She hadn’t changed a bit. Which was sad really…he had hoped that she would have been a little more evil at heart, in which everything he was trying to do would be a lot easier to deal with and finish. He knew from the time that she had seen Squall to now, that she would not do this willing. So he would have to force her.

“I need you, Leona. Together, we could rule the world!” he snickered, cruelly, gazing at the terrified expression on her face. “As, sister and brother. Oh baby sister, I must tell you so much before we get started!” He turned and sighed, dreamily as if that would charm her into help him. “It will be wonderful!”

Leona continued to stare at Squall with a terrified expression on her face. This was what her brother did to their own cousin. Not just HER cousin, but HIS cousin as well. She really wanted to puke, but continued to will it away. Her heart twisted with grief. This was what her loving brother did. HER brother…the one that helped her out though the bad times, the one when she needed a shoulder to cry on she cried on, the one that loved her for who she is and not what she was. Her brother now a cold blooded monster was torturing their cousin. “Leo…” she hugged her knees as she sat on the cold metal table she was laying on. She hugged them as tightly as she could to keep herself from shaking. “Why hurt him…?”

“Don’t you know the story of the Cousin-Bond?” Leo asked, not turning around to face her with his question. He narrowed his eyes at the question he asked her and laughed on the inside. She really is still innocent…

“Yes and no…” Leona answered, softly, tearing her amber-colored eyes off of her bloodied cousin and she closed them, trying her hardest to will it all away. Yet, in her mind she could still see her cousin chained up and bloody.

“As cousins become bonded, they share most of the same pains and desires, if the same gender.” Leo grinned, but she nor did Squall-who was unconscious- see it. “You two are the only cousins to be of different genders. You see usually Ancient’s cousins are of the same gender. Since Father and Father’s brother were humans, we had a chance of two different cousin genders and of course, you were both different genders. You both pretty much only feel the same pains, physically and mentally.”

“Leo…you hurt him and you hurt…me…” her tears streamed down her face and she sobbed, uncontrollably. Her loving brother was not loving anymore…she knew this couldn’t be her REAL brother…her real brother would never hurt her. NEVER!

So much has changed…Leo are you this cold now? Or is this an act to show that you are cool? Maybe someone has taken over your mind. Can I help you? Is there anything I can do? Do I have to do everything? What is it that I have to do to get my loving big brother back? Do I have to kill myself to get you back or will everything I try be in vain? You are so dear to me and I don’t want to lose my loving and kind brother to what you have become now. A heartless monster, being eaten by the darkness which now lies within your heart. If this IS the real you…then I must stop you with everything I have…but will it be enough? Why am I thinking so much? Why did you want to hurt me if you want me to help? This is all so confusing! Usually I would ask for your help and now…I can not. Where are you big brother?

Her sobs deceased and she stood. “Is his leg broken?” she began to amble over to her wounded cousin and suddenly was violently pulled back from someone gripping her arm. She snapped her head toward the way she was being pulled back and saw Leo, death glaring at her. “Don’t you dare touch him!” He barked at her with a fiery tone, his orbs of a golden hue began to darken into a crimson red. “I will not let you go near him, Leona!”

Leona growled and tried to slip out of his grip. “Let go of me!” Her blood began to boil and her heart pounded inside her chest. “Let me help Squall!” Fangs sprouted out and popped out of her mouth to show them out of her mouth, she glared at him and growled even deeper.

“He needs to die! He and his father are in the way! Damn you Leona!” He continued to grip her even tighter now because of her trying to escape.

Her eyes narrowed to mere slits. “You would kill more family after father?”

“Father was a different story, Leona. He hurt you and he hurt mother and me. I took revenge! He got what he deserved…” his tone was a deathly bitter one. Talking about the one man he hated was the cause of his tone and all he wanted to do was forget the old man ever lived. Even if it were his own flesh and blood. It did not matter. All went down to hell when his father pulled the act that he pulled. It was his fault at all.

“There was no reason for what you did!” she snapped back even more bitter. “After all this time Leo wouldn’t you have stopped and thought about everything that happened? Leo, he was right! He was only trying to…”

“Enough!” Leo drew his own gun blade that appeared to be hidden behind his cloak. It was black and was framed in beautiful silver. It had an evil aura around it and the owner was also glowing with an evil aura around his slender form. Leo could feel the power of his gun blade. In bloody red was his initials ‘LLL’ for ‘Leo Laguna Loire’.

“Leo please let me…”

“NO!!!!” Leo screeched in rage. “If I have to, I swear I’ll kill you too, dear sister!” He was in a blind rage now. “Draw your weapon!” He cocked his gun blade and swung it, slashing her in the upper arm and he fired a bullet at her, the impact of the attack sent her flying.

She screamed in pain. Mostly her mental pain rather than her physical pain was the problem. Her most precious thing in her whole life hurt her. Her! She gingerly touched her arm and felt a gunshot wound. She grimaced and quickly glared at the now moving Leo. He was walking toward her with an amused raging grin. It scared her to see her brother like this.

“Good bye, my baby sister.” Leo pointed the gun blade and cocked it once again. The sick grin was still plastered on his lips and his crimson orbs glowed with an evil intensity.

No…

The group of men took the Red SeeD ship that was now waiting for them. It was just like the White SeeD ship in which Squall and the gang had to find, but it was faster and painted red. It was the fastest ship around and thankfully, SeeD had the ship and in emergencies they could use it for transportation. Zell, Irvine and Seifer were nervous. What would they find once they reach Trabia ruins? Would they find Squall or was it all a trick?

It was a calm breezy afternoon. The sun was shining with warmth and it glowed peaceful rays of golden light on the planet. Everything seemed perfect, but the bitterness of it all was cruel for the three. Squall was somewhere…and maybe dead and it was sunny and happy in the outside world. A whole week was plenty of time for many possibilities to occur. They all also worried about Leona. Something was definitely wrong with her. Both mentally and physically. When they saw the bruises all of her body when they found her unconscious…they wondered if someone attacked her, but it nobody saw anything and they couldn’t prove it. Anyway, Leona was a strong fighter and she wouldn’t go down so easily.

Suddenly, the waters became a rapid current, spinning the ship around and around, repeatedly. Heavy rain began to pour from the sky as if the earth was crying buckets of tears. The water that was spinning the ship was like the earth’s rage.

“Steady the ship crew!” the captain called out. “We gotta make it!”

Thunder crackled in the distance and lightening pierced fear into the hearts of the people on board.

Anger, rage, sadness, all these emotions expressed so suddenly from the earth.

How would they get out?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The ear-shattering shot was fired and everything went quiet for a few moments. Smoke from the impact of the blast was still clearing from the air. Just as all hope seemed to be lost, a chilling howl was issued.
Out from the smoke appeared two glowing honey-colored amber eyes that glowed with the rage of fifty wolves. A silver chain gleamed with intensity, a moon pendent hooked onto it.
“I knew you would not die so easily.” Leo smirked, quite amused. “Then I will kill you by animal as well!”
Suddenly, Leo issued a roar fierce as a lion and slowly his body began to transform into the form of a lion. His silver fur glimmered from the light’s rays and his dark amber eyes smirked at her. He issued another mighty roar and swished his tail to and fro. His claws dug into the metal floor as he bared his fangs at his younger sister.
Both jumped into midair and attacked.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Fangs of wolf dug into the neck of the lion, as the claws of lion embedded in the raven black coat of the wolf. Bloody and cruel the two siblings fought to the death. The little wolf and the big lion. Little sister and big brother. They were one and the same. Each fought with their souls.

Teeth and claws clashed for what seemed like eternity. This was the first thing Squall witnessed as he awoke from his painful sleep. The blood and the fighting. It was sick, but he believed in his cousin-bonded cousin. Leona could be his savior- if she won- or his doom- if she lost-. He knew the story from his father. For a bond to be complete, the other must completely believe in the other cousin.

Leo pounced on Leona and sent her to the ground with his mighty paw. The paw was crushing her neck, making her gasp for air. She knew that she had lost. She knew that she had failed everyone she knew and loved. She would die and Leo would do what he pleased with the world. She guessed he didn’t need her as much as she thought he did.

“I…” Squall began, softly with a cracked voice. “I believe in you, Leona…”

The necklace that was around the wolf’s neck, glowed with a powerful light. The lion roared with pain as the light burned his paw and he jumped back. He watched in awe as his baby sister stood and the blinding light encompassed her form completely. The light was beautiful, but painful to his dark amber eyes. After its power withdrew back into the necklace, a new wolf appeared before his eyes.

She was completely white, as white as soft untouched snow. Her eyes a golden color that glowed with a dark passion and the necklace around her neck glimmered. She gazed into his eyes and howled. Howled a song of joy and sadness.

He was in a trance by her joyous, but sad music. He didn’t notice her fangs inside his throat, until it was too late and he roared with pain. He was to late…he let his guard down and he would die…

Now…

~~~~~~~~~~~
The seas calmed, rather quickly. Thunder and lightening vanished. Rain cleared to reveal the beautiful sun. Odd it was, the team was happy to finally get ashore. They ran off the ship and headed to Trabia Ruins.
~~~~~~~~~~~

Leona howled a song of sadness at her dead sibling. Her life was gone. Her only thing that she lived for and loved the most was gone…because of her.

She quickly transformed back and limped over to Squall. Her leg felt feeble and she looked down to see blood gushing from it. Her clothes were shredded and claw marks were visible on her body. She gingerly touched Squall and whispered, “Cure…”

Squall let out a grateful sigh as he felt the pain leave his body. After a few minutes it was gone. She did it…she helped him to survive and live…he could go back home. Home…

She limped over toward her brother’s dead corpse and saw the key to Squall’s chains on the floor. It must have fallen out of his pocket. She picked it up and again limped over toward Squall, gritting her teeth in pain. She quickly unlocked it and felt herself collapsing.

Squall fell to the floor and caught her, breaking her fall. He embraced her. Thank the gods…for my savior.

“Leona…thanks…” He carried her in his arms and began to look for a way out, when he did as he was walking out the door, he caught a glimpse of Leona’s eyes opening and she began to sing, softly.

~+~ I’m sorry dear brother…

You have helped me, through the good and bad times…

I will miss you dearly.

From your baby sister…

I call unto thee….

I love you dear brother…

Please forgive me… ~+~

She passed out after the last word as tears streamed her blood stained cheeks. His tears fell down, slowly as well. She sang so beautifully with her soul. Like a wolf’s howling song. He kissed her forehead and nodded to his fallen cousin, Leo and departed.

Never to see him again…

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Zell, Irvine and Seifer saw Squall. It was really him!
Zell grinned and ran toward him. “You’re okay Squall!”
They stopped in their tracks as they saw what he was carrying…the unconscious Leona…
“What happened?” Seifer asked, amazed at all the claw marks on her. “Did she fight a lion or something?”
“I’ll tell you on the way back home…”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

So they embarked on the journey home. Squall told the story of what happened and the battle with Leona and her brother, Leo and all about the Ancients. It took all the way back home to explain it and Leona slept through the whole way there. They disembarked off the ship and Squall sighed.

Home! It was really home! Rinoa…I’m coming…

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well the Garden Festival is tonight Selphie! Selphie thought. Irvine and the others were not back yet and she wondered if Irvine would keep his promise. She had sulked around mostly after she and Irvine made their good-byes again. She needed his touch, his smile…him. She was never really in love until Irvine came along. She sighed, sadly. Another boy to break promises…
No…Irvine was no boy…he was a man. A man of my things. A man of his word…a man of his heart…she thought. He would be there for her…definitely…
~~~~~~~~~~~~~`

It was beginning to grow dark and all the men and the unconscious heroine needed the rest. They were now walking back toward the floating Garden which they called home.

“Let me hold her for awhile, Squall…” Irvine offered as he watched his friend carry the beautiful girl in his arms. Squall was still a little wobbly for just coming off the Red SeeD ship. It was a known fact that Squall always got like this when he got off of ships.

“No…” Squall snapped rather coolly. “She saved my life…let me help hers…” He shifted his weight to get a better grip on her form and sighed cracking his neck. This was really straining work.

“You know your limits Squall…” Zell began. “You’re shaking all over!”

Squall was still stubborn and shook his head. “Everything is fine.”

“Give her to me…” Seifer demanded, coldly. “I wont take no for an answer.”

Squall sighed and shrugged. He never trusted Seifer, but for going out of his way to go rescue him was a big thing. So he sighed again. He would trust Seifer once and anyway…his back was hurting a little bit. He handed over Leona’s form to Seifer, gingerly and Seifer carried her with care, as again they began to walk toward Garden.

As they walked for awhile Zell squealed in happiness with the sight he beheld. “We’re almost there!” Zell grinned from ear-to-ear. “Look!”

Garden was hovering a little distance away from them, but not to far. Tonight they would get back and tonight they would be happy.
