“Who did it?” Quistis asked her close friends. “Who raped and beat me?” This news was quite a shock to her, as she had just woken up from her coma. She had no memory of that event and it was not very comforting to know that there was a person out there who wanted to harm her. She rubbed her eyes, and winced and she did so. She could barely make out the world around her. It was frustrating.
“We don't know,” Squall answered quietly. “The person left behind no evidence besides DNA. But unfortunately, we will have to wait awhile as the equipment needs to be fixed.”
Quistis's vision began to clear. She saw a bunch of puffy, red eyes and tired faces. Hyne, these people look like the living dead.
“We're so glad you're okay,” Rinoa sobbed. “We were so worried about you. We barely got any sleep in two weeks!” Quistis coughed and winced as her stomach lurched in pain.
“I can tell,” Quistis pointed out. “You all might as well be the living dead. Please don't tell me you tortured yourselves. I'm not worth it.” Selphie's face scrunched up in protest. Oh no…I got the coffee queen going.
“That's not true,” Selphie piped up. “We love you Quisty. We love you very much. And it hurt us to see you all wired like that.” Selphie looked like she was going to cry. And she did. Her round, childlike face collapsed into her hands as she turned away to hide her embarrassment as she sobbed her heart out. Maybe she really does love me.
Irvine peered over the cot to look at Quistis. Quistis thanked him for that. His cowboy hat was blocking the extremely bright lights. “Quistis, you are worth it. Right Zell?” The cowboy turned to the martial artist with determination. It was funny. Once something got Irvine going, there was no stopping him.
“Yeah,” Zell agreed. “Quisty,” he grabbed her bandaged wrist. “I have a question for you. Do you have any idea who hurt you?” Quistis tried to think of a name but no name would come. Her mind was completely blank of information. How sad. “Come on, think. Think really hard.” An image then popped into her mind. She couldn't put a name on that person but something told her she knew him.
His short blond hair that never went anywhere, his dangerous blue eyes that attracted a sea of girls, his gray trench coat that accentuated his muscles, his dark laugh…all this was coming back to her. Now if only she knew his name. What was his name? I know his name.
“Seifer,” she screamed. A raging flood had broken the dam inside of her. She had completely lost it now. She didn't even know where she was. “LEAVE ME ALONE. I WANT TO BE ALONE.” She began writhing and trying to sit up. However, all of her friends piled on top of her, preventing her from hurting herself. There was complete confusion and chaos. Quistis was no longer in reality. She was in a world of nightmares. And she was reliving one.
She couldn't stop screaming. Her pupils were dilating. She tried to bring her mouth down on her arms but was unable to due to her friends' restraint. She had a sudden urge to tear the flesh from her bones, anything to get HIS essence off of her.
The faces of her friends were beginning to melt away as her delirium continued. “Get away from me,” she hollered. “You lied to me. You said you cared. You said you wouldn't hurt me!”

“What do you think happened to her,” Rinoa and Irvine asked at the same time. Quistis had completely lost it. They had never seen her like that before. She was a monstrous animal, throwing things and trying to tear the flesh from her arms. She was barely human.
“I honestly don't know,” Squall answered with a tad of concern. “My professional opinion is that she was having a flashback. A horrific one.” Selphie jumped up. Quistis was in so much pain. She wanted to help her, but she just didn't know how.
“Is there anything we can do for her?” Selphie asked hopefully. She didn't want Quistis to die a sad death. Quistis was a brilliant woman, one Selphie held a lot of respect for. It hurt her to see her dear friend in so much pain. She wished she could do something to ease the pain.
She looked around the hospital. It seemed pretty vacant. That was odd for a hospital. But Selphie guessed that today was just a lucky day for most people. Oh, how she wished she were those people.
“I'm afraid there isn't much we can do,” Squall gravely explained. “Unless you want to take care of her until she gets back on her feet.” Selphie felt a jolt of energy burst through her. She knew exactly what she was able to do for Quistis. She was going to nurse her back to health!
“Oh please let me take of her,” she started jumping up and down. “It's the most I can do since she helped me so many times.” Squall smirked at her enthusiasm for helping people. Sometimes he wondered why she didn't get a job in community service. Surely they could use her wonders there.
“Selphie that's so nice of you to offer like that,” Rinoa smiled at the brunette. “You're a good friend.”
“Yeah,” Zell piped up. “Quisty will love that you're going to take care of her.”
Irvine walked up to her and looked her in the eye. Her promptly gave her a warm hug. “Thank you,” he said, his voice cracking with emotion. “I'm sorry.”
The statement took Selphie aback. What did Irvine mean by “thank you” and “I'm sorry”. Was he going to leave or something like that? She never knew with Irvine. He was a hard person to understand.
That was why she loved him so much. It was fun trying to get to know him better. She loved getting inside his head and discovering the skeletons he hid inside his closet. When she discovered his skeletons she found that he was at heart, a good person. However, he never liked to show it. Therefore, he hid his goodness under a mask of play boyish behaviors.
She wondered what Skeletons Quistis had. Were they gruesome or tame? She had a yearning to know.
“So it's settled,” Selphie spoke up. “I'm going to take care of Quistis?” Everyone in the room nodded. Selphie grinned and ran into the intensive care unit.
Quistis blinked her eyes as she woke up yet again. This time however, she was not in a hospital. She was in someone's room. But who's room, that's what she wanted to know.
It looked like a teenage girl's room. That was evident by the pink paint job, and the various posters of good-looking movie stars. Is that a picture of Bard Pooste? This must be Selphie's room.
Selphie had an unhealthy obsession with movie star Bard Pooste. It must have been his surfer blond hair, sparkling blue eyes, and tan body that threw her for a loop. That was typical of most teenage girls in Balamb. Quistis remembered the many hours Selphie had spent on the phone blabbing about how hot he was. And Quistis had to admit, he looked pretty good for man in his early 40's. She still preferred the younger stars though.
One particular object caught her eye. It was a picture of her and Selphie on the beach by the lighthouse. It was taken about 2 years ago, when they went over there to renovate the place. That was a fond memory for Quistis. The Gang had gone down to the lighthouse to renovate it so that Edea could reopen the orphanage. Quistis smiled. Matron always did have a big heart. Sometimes she thought it was too big.
She remembered the many water fights that ensured with Selphie and Zell. Ah, Selphie always was a goofball. Quistis loved the little coffee addict. She wondered where Selphie was now.
Her question was answered when Selphie opened the door and smiled sweetly at Quistis. “Hey,” she said softly. “How are you feeling?” Quistis tried to smile, but unfortunately, it hurt her jaw to smile so instead she gave the girl a wince. It was better than nothing. But it worried Selphie. “Not good I'm guessing.” Quistis shook her head. “Better?” Quistis slightly nodded. She was still wrapped in bandages but at least now she had more motor control.
Selphie knelt by her bed and took Quistis's hand. “Quisty,” she whispered. “I'm here to help you. If you need anything, anything at all, don't be afraid to ask. I love helping; you know that. I want you to make yourself at home until you feel better.” She then proceeded to give Quistis a warm hug worthy of herself. Selphie was a great giver of hugs. Quistis tried to hug her back but she could barely move. She hated this immobility. She wanted to express herself.
“Selphie,” she cracked. The young brunette turned to face her with concern. “Thanks.” Selphie flashed her a dazzling smile.
“Don't worry about it,” she made a funny gesture. “You're my friend. You're my BEST friend. I'd do anything to help you.” Selphie then left the small bedroom. Quistis pulled the baby blue sheets up to her chin. Anything? Selphie, was Matron right? Do you love me?

Dr. Kadowaki wiped sweat from her forehead as she slaved over the machine. It was machine skilled in analyzing DNA to be exact. And it was giving her trouble today. Hyne, how she hated technology! How she wished that all of humanity could just live in caves and fight over drumsticks. Life would be so much simpler.
In her hand was a small piece of Quistis uniform needed for testing. It was the same uniform that Quistis had worn the night of the attack obviously. Soaked into the fabric was semen and with this up to date technology, Dr. Kadowaki could find out whose it belonged to. She hoped and prayed to Hyne that it wouldn't be someone she knew. She couldn't deal with that sort of stress right now. She already had a lot on her mind.
Her son had recently gotten married to an Estarian woman. She remembered meeting the young girl for the first time. Hyne, she was a beauty. This was the first girl her son had actually brought home, probably because he was actually proud of that one. Most of his old girlfriends weren't that admirable. And Dr. Kadowaki didn't want to reveal any more information than that.
With a pair of tweezers in her hand, she picked up a piece of fabric and placed it on a small sheet of glass. She then placed the sheet of glass in a slot in the machine. She turned it, rolling her eyes as it made the trademark groan. The machine was old, well no, ancient would be more like it. Dr. Kadowaki hated the machine.
It made a few beeps as it analyzed the piece of cloth. In a few seconds a name popped up. And as the doctor read it, her heart nearly stopped.
Seifer Almasy
Age: 18
Height: 6'2
Weight: 220 lbs
Hair color: blond
Eye color: blue
Pesonality: Rather blunt and impulsive. Has a very dangerous temper. Is known to be cocky. Not very friendly, family has a history of mental illnesses such as schizophrenia, paranoia, and pyschosis.
Dr. Kadowaki dropped to the floor. She was at a loss for words. Quistis was raped and beaten by Seifer? It seemed rather odd that would occur. The two were dating for quite a long time. Why would he do that to her? She didn't know what to make of that information. All she could do was tell Commander Squall Leonhart the terrible news.
A/N: Yeah, I know it was a short chapter. It felt good to leave it there. There will be more to come soon! Don't forget to review,it'll make me happy!
