"Zack... Zack, wake up.... ZACK!" I woke up, trembling from the sudden awakening. "Wha!? Huh," was all I could say from being so tired. It was Robert. "C'mon, man. Time for breakfast," he said. "Alright, alright," I muttered, getting off the bed. "Who's going," I asked. "Cloud, Barret, Jessie, Biggs, Wedge, and you," Robert said. "What the hell are you doing then," I asked as we walked down the stairs into the weapons shop. "I'm staying here with Castilla, Amber, Ian, Dylan, and Tifa," he said, grinning. "If you even hit on her, I'll strangle you," I said, grinning back. "I've got Castilla, I'm not into threesomes. Besides, Tifa's not your girlfriend," he replied. I shook my head, "Hopefully she will be by the time we're done." We walked into the bar and I sat at the counter, yawning. Everyone was sitting down, eating already. Amber was sitting at the counter, sipping some water. Tifa turned away from the stove and looked at me, "Good morning. Want anything to eat?" I shook my head. I rarely ate anything at all, let alone breakfast. "Are you sure," she asked as my stomach growled. "Give me some expresso coffee and I'll be up for days. I have a disorder for concentration. ADHD sucks," I said, pulling out a few Gil. Tifa walked to the coffee-maker, pouring some into a mug, and handed it to me. I handed her the Gil, which she put in the register.

"Thank you," I said, downing the coffee. The next second, I was holding my tongue because it burned so badly. Cloud shook his head, Barret wasn't there and the others were laughing while watching me run around trying to cool my tongue off. Tifa handed me some ice water, which I downed, "Are you alright? That wasn't too smart." I nodded, handing her back the glass, "This is how I do it at home... Although I feel like someone just set my tongue on fire. Thanks again." She just nodded, and the rest of the group put their dishes in the sink and walked out. Ian winked at me as he left, mouthing "Go for it!" I glared at him, then looked as Tifa sighed, starting to clean the dishes. I walked up next to her and started helping her. "You don't have to help," she said as she kept washing the dishes. "I know, but I don't think one person should be left to do such a huge pile," I said, drying a glass. There was a long silence, not the kind that is awkward or romantic, just the kind filled with thought. "So..... Where are you from," Tifa finally asked, handing me a plate to dry. "You wouldn't believe me if I told you," I said, drying the plate. It suddenly slipped from my hands and hit the floor, shattering. "Aw crap! Sorry," I said, feeling stupid.

"It's alright," she said, crouching to pick up some of the pieces. I crouched down too, quickly picking up any that were left. We both spotted a piece that had been hiding, and tried to grab it. Instead, we both grabbed each other's hand. There was a short silence, then Tifa quickly pulled her hand away. I picked up the last piece, throwing them in the trash. When I looked at her, I saw her fidgeting with her pieces. She soon cut her left hand with a sharp piece, yelping from the sudden pain. I took out a bandage from my backpack and put it around her finger, taking the pieces and throwing them out. "Thanks," she said, standing up and washing the dishes again. I didn't look up, knowing I would see her underwear and not wanting to get on her bad side, I plainly stood up, drying the dishes again. "So, where are you from," she asked for a second time. "You won't believe me," I answered again. "Tell me," she said as she looked at me. "I'm from another planet," I half-stated, half-asked.

"Alright. That is a strange response," she said, smiling a bit. "Oh, wonderful. Yet another girl thinks I'm a freak," I replied, rolling my eyes. "You'll have to give me proof for me to believe you," she said, handing more dishes to me. I took them up, drying them slowly. "I can't give you proof. I can't get home," I said. "Why not," she asked. I dried another dish, "Because I got here by a teleportation device." She stared at me, probably thinking I was a complete nut. I looked at her for a moment, then began drying dishes faster, "You think I'm a nut. I can tell." She shook her head, "Anything's possible." I just dried the dishes as fast as I could, "You like that blonde guy, don't you?" She looked at me, "No. We're just friends. Cloud and I aren't like that." I chuckled, even though I knew it wasn't true, "Sure you don't... I know you do." She washed the last of the dishes, "How would you know, anyway? Are you psychic?" I laughed, "I know a little about a lot of things."

Tifa dried her hands off, sitting on the bar counter. "So, you going to admit you're in love with him yet," I inquired, drying the last of the dishes and starting to put them all away. "I don't trust you that much," she replied. "Aw, fine.... Maybe I get attached to people too quick," I said, putting the last dish on the shelves. No reply. I turned around, noticing she was lost in thought. "You alright," I asked, tapping her on the shoulder. She finally snapped out of it, "Huh? Yeah, I'm fine." I shrugged, not really wanting to force her to tell me anything. I walked back to side of the bar counter with the bar stools, sitting on one. "I'm probably going to sleep," I said out of nowhere. "Go ahead," Tifa replied. I tried to fall asleep, but couldn't. Not with a woman like Tifa sitting right next to me. Someone walked into the bar. I didn't know who it was. Tifa turned around and waved, "Hi, Johnny. How are you?" The man waved, smiling at her, "Hi, Tifa. Looking good today." She blushed slightly, hopping down, "What do you need?" Johnny sat at the bar counter, "A beer would be nice." Tifa brang him his beer, and they started talking. I put my head down, going to sleep.

When I woke up, Johnny was still there. More people had come in and ordered drinks. "Hello, sleepy head," Tifa said. I waved a little, still groggy. "What time is it," I asked. "About noon," Johnny said. "Oh, yay," I said sarcastically, "Still have another twelve hours... So bored." I looked around, not seeing any of AVALANCHE in the bar. "There's plenty of things to do. Why don't you go out and find your friends," Tifa asked. "Because they aren't much of a friend. Except for Amber. She's the only one that actually is around for me," I answered, banging my head against the counter to wake myself up. "Stop doing that. You're going to hurt yourself. Plus, I don't need blood all over my counter," Tifa said, partly in jest. I stopped, yawning. "Nothing to do, anyway," I said. Johnny shook his head, "I think you came here for the girl." He grinned. I blushed, "What would you know? We barely know each other." Tifa grinned like a cheschire cat, then kissed me on the cheek, "Aw, but what about last night, pooky?" I stared at her, blushing as red as a beat, "Either you got drunk while I was asleep or you're delusional." She laughed, "I was just trying to cheer you up." I shook my head, "That's what I have my anti- depressants for. Besides, I don't exactly have the best luck with women, so stop playing with my head." Johnny laughed, "Better ask Tifa out before someone else gets her."

I blushed again, "I doubt she would say yes." Tifa giggled, "Only if I know you better." Johnny looked at her, "Then will you go out with me?" She shook her head, "Nope." Johnny frowned, downing his beer. "I have bad luck with women too. Join the club," Johnny said. I shook my head, "I'm way too shy. Never been on a date." Tifa looked surprised, "I thought you were the type of guy girls would chase." I probably would have turned blood red, if it were possible, "If you're hitting on me, it's working. But women don't exactly like me." Johnny just shook his head, "Alright, I'm out of here." Tifa waved goodbye. Over the hours, everyone left. Eventually it was just me and her again. "Everyone is going to come back soon for dinner. Then you're going on your mission." I looked at the counter, "Ugh... Too tired. Oh well." Tifa smiled a little, "You don't have to go. I'm sure the others can handle it." I shook my head, "I'd probably try something on you eventually. You're going to drive me nuts."

I didn't mean to let those words slip from my mouth, but they did. When I realized it, I blushed. Tifa just laughed a bit, "Oh well." Everyone walked in, my friends grinning like cheschire cats. "Ooooh. Having a romantic moment," Ian taunted me. I gave him the finger, "We aren't dating. We met yesterday. Give it a fucking rest!" Robert joined in now, "Oh yeah. We're gonna believe you. Just admit you were shaggin her!" Now Tifa seemed upset, "WE AREN'T TOGETHER!" Ian just grinned, "Yes you are!" I threw the wires of my glove around his neck, "SHUT THE FUCK UP ALREADY! I'M TIRED OF HEARING YOU SAY THAT!" I released the wires, but Barret punched me, "My daughter's here, y'know!" I rubbed my head, "Sorry. Habit."

Marlene ran up to Tifa and jumped up, hugging her. She yelled, "Hi, Auntie Tifa!" Tifa hugged back, smiling, "Hi, Marlene." Tifa put Marlene down, then started making dinner. I got up and walked outside, the others following me. "So, did you score yet," Dylan asked, smirking. "For the last time, I'm not dating her. We met yesterday. Unlike you guys, I don't ask a girl out after two minutes of conversation," I said, looking up at the pillar of Sector 7. "Geez, sorry," Dylan said. "I wish I could date her, but I doubt she likes me like that. I doubt she ever will, either," I said, mostly to myself than the others. "Don't worry. She will eventually," Amber said reassuringly. I nodded, "Just have to wait and see, then." Everyone nodded, then walked back inside. I looked up at the Plate, then went back inside, sitting at the counter.

"Want some food," Tifa asked. I nodded, "That would be nice." I took out a few Gil and Tifa shook her head, "You don't have to pay." I groaned, not wanting to argue again, "Just take it!" She shook her head again. I sighed, putting the money away. "Fine," I said. She went to the stove and began cooking for everyone. We all got our food, but I notice Tifa didn't have any. "Aren't you going to eat," I asked. She shook her head. I sighed, shaking my head, "Fine. I'll make you some food." She shook her head again, "I'm fine." I put her in a headlock and gave her noogies, "I'm going to shove it down your throat if I have to!" She squealed, trying to get out of the headlock. I let her go and began making stir-fried rice, giving it to her, "Eat." She sighed, "Not going to give up are you." I grinned, "Nope." She took up a spoon and tried some of it, "Not bad." Ian rolled his eyes, "Finally. Someone who likes Zack's cooking." I glared at him, "You can't cook unless it came as microwaveable." He just shut his mouth, recognizing defeat and went back to eating.

Tifa finished the rice I gave to her while I ate my steak. After everyone was done, Barret shouted, "Alright! Time to go!" I sighed, looking at Tifa, "I'll help with the dishes later." She shook her head, "I'll do it." I growled playfully, "Damn you and your independence!" She just stuck her tongue out at me, then waved. I walked outside and ran towards the train, hopping on after everyone else. We were finally going to go on the mission. Everyone just did their own thing on the train as we headed towards Reactor 8...
