1) I do not own Zell, Squall, Rinoa, Irvine, Seifer, Selphie, Irvine, Quistis, or any other character I may mention from the FF8 series. I may add some more characters, which are mine. If you steal them, I probably won't find out about it. I also do not own most of the towns, monsters, etc… used in this story.

2) This was written cause Zell is the coolest character ever to be created in the FF series. It's rated NC-17 for mostly sex, but it also contains some language and violence.

3) This is a yaoi story. If you are offended by yaoi or don't know what it is, I suggest you leave. You have been warned.

CHAPTER 24: A Day in the Life of Squall Leonhart

"Day 29, whatcha got for me Squall?" Zell smiled, calling one day. Today was November the 3rd, almost a month after they started this mission. Zell had expected to end this thing sooner, as it became boring after the first two weeks, but the town just wouldn't open up to the three. They had yet to make a single contact, or even a friend. They still went out to the bar every night, and tried to start a conversation, but it never went anywhere. If they started to inquire about the town, their 'contact' would suddenly lose their interest to talk. Zell didn't know what he was doing wrong, but they met with nothing but failure. Squall and Selphie were having a little more success however, and that spurred Zell to call every other day instead of once a week.

"Nothing much."

"No luck with that Vinney guy?"

"Irvine," the brunette corrected. "We're gonna press him today."

"Good, cause we got nothing."

"Something's strange about that."

"I know, but what can we do?"

"Just be careful."

"Will do. Let me know what's up tonight?"

"Maybe, we'll see what develops."

"Kay, I'll talk to you later." Squall nodded, which of course Zell didn't hear, and hung up the phone. Getting to his feet, the brunette went to his closet to grab his gunblade. He was given a SeeD dorm, which was much like the one in Balamb, only this one was much larger. In fact, Galbadia Garden was almost twice the size of Balamb. There were a lot more classes here, and the enrollment almost doubled Balamb's. It had been a snug month for Squall and Selphie, as not much changed from their lives before the mission. They took some classes, made friends (well Selphie anyway…), and came home to a huge dorm each night. It was a little rough, as the name Squall Leonhart stood out, but the brunette just shrugged it off as a coincidence.

"Squall! Squall!" came a knock at his door. He walked over and opened it, recognizing the voice as Selphie's.

"What…?" Squall mumbled.

"Are you ready?" she glowed. "Today's huge!"

"Whatever…" Squall muttered, concealing his gunblade in his belt, and following her down the hallway. "Let's try to be professional today?"

"Hey I got you this contact! We should relax and not scare the crap out of him!" She was literally skipping down the corridor, which made Squall cover his face with his hand, and walk more to the right from her.

"We're on a mission, we're not here to make sure everyone's happy."

"Fine! I'll be the good cop, and you can be the bad cop!" she cheered, continuing to skip.

"No! This isn't a game, so don't make it into one!" Squall started yelling, which he rarely had to resort to.

"Sorry." Selphie's head dropped to the floor, and the skip was knocked out of her. Squall felt bad for a second, but returned to his stoic state. His emotions couldn't get in the way, especially now. Selphie continued to lead Squall down twisting hallways and past tons of rooms. He became curious after Selphie led him down the same hallway for the fourth time.

"Do you know where he is or not?" he finally asked.

"He's got a couple of hangouts. Don't worry, there's only one left." Frustrated, Squall followed her out the exit of the Garden, and into the soft grass. After a short walk off campus, he saw a cowboy lying against a tree on a small hill.

"Irvy!" Selphie squealed, wrapping the man in a large hug. Squall ascended the hill slowly behind her, eyeing the strange looking man. He had a cowboy hat in one hand, and a shotgun in the other. His long brown hair tumbled down his back, and he almost about as tall as Squall.

"Selphy," Irvine smiled, looking back down at her. He then caught sight of her companion, and his face scrunched in confusion. "Who's he?"

"Oh…that's Squall. You remember him right?"

"Oh yeah…the one with the famous name!" Irvine laughed, holding his hand out to the brunette. "Hopefully you'll be as good as the original eh?"

"Yes…hopefully," Squall muttered, refusing to shake the man's hand. Irvine slowly withdrew it, shaking off Squall's icy demeanor.

"Not the social one are you?" the cowboy joked. Squall didn't laugh, and giving up, Irvine returned his attention to Selphie. "So how's my cowgirl doing?"

"Fine! How are you Irvy?"

"Good as ever. What's new?"

"You know what I'm interested in…" Selphie teased, taking a seat next to him.

"How does a pretty little thing like you get involved in politics and rebellion?" Irvine asked.

"Just tell us what you know," Squall interrupted, tired of their ongoing shenanigans.

"Squall!" Selphie cried.

"Hey the lady came to talk to me. How about taking a walk buddy?" Irvine shot, angered by Squall's sudden intrusion.

"No, me and him going some where right after we have this talk," Selphie covered, trying to keep the conversation alive.

"Why can't you meet up with him from over there?" Irvine pointed back towards the garden.

"Cause, I don't put my friends out in the cold," Selphie replied, moving closer to the cowboy. "Now what do you know?" Irvine shot daggers at Squall, but continued with his presence.

"What's with your sudden interest in Timber?"

"Timber?" Squall asked, in a bland voice. "The Spiders are in Timber?"

"We can listen can't we?" Irvine taunted, treating Squall like a seven year old. "Yeah, they're down in that crappy town."

"Really, that's so cool," Selphie smiled. "Do you know about memebership?"

"Yes…" the cowboy replied. "Aren't you a curious girl?"

"What? You're saying a cowgirl's not allowed to be educated?"

"No. No. No." he quickly withdrew the question, trying not to offend her. "…I'll tell you for a kiss." Squall sighed in frustration, but bit his lip. Selphie placed a quick kiss on his cheek, anything to keep the information coming. "Everyone's a member in a revolution group down there," he continued. "They prolly have only a small membership, but when battle comes, the whole town'll get involved."

"That's scary," Selphie smiled, eyes wide. Squall didn't feel the same. He was tired of dealing with this asshole, and was ready to cut him to bits the next time he pulled anything stupid. This was taking way too long. Too much small talk.

"What are their motives?" Squall questioned, looking directly at the cowboy.

"Listen, I think it's time for you to leave. This is really none of your…"

"Oh, but it is my business," Squall shot, moving directly over him. "I think it's in your best interest to tell me everything you know." The brunette was going to end up blowing his cover, but he knew it wouldn't hurt the mission.

"See this," Irvine threatened, raising his gun. "You keep that mouth you'll find yourself in the Infirmary."

"Irvine don't…" Selphie tried, but it was too late. In one swift movement, Squall shattered the gun with a bullet from his gunblade, and the cowboy found the tip of the blade at his neck.

"I think you know who you're messing with now," Squall muttered, watching Irvine's eyes light up in fear. "Now if I were you, I'd say everything I knew, and I'd do it quickly." Irvine swallowed, and reconsidered his attitude.

"They're a rebellion group in Timber! I don't know what you want!"

"What did they want with Balamb?" Squall questioned, keeping his calm voice.

"It was a simple hit and run for money! Nothing else!"

"Who are they led by?"

"That I don't know!" Unsatisfied, Squall moved the blade into his neck, beginning to draw blood.

"I seriously don't know!" Irvine screamed.

"Then tell me something you do…" Squall muttered, continuing to inch the blade forward.

"Oh um…Zell Dincht! Seifer Almasy! How does that sound?" Irvine gasped desperately. Squall stopped the sword, signaling him to continue. "They've apparently stirred up some trouble! The town's ready to execute them!"

"Call Cid," Squall nodded to Selphie. "Tell him to send for backup." She nodded, and ran back to the school.

"You're SeeD! I knew it!" Irvine exclaimed, blood running onto his shirt.

"Yes, and if you tell anyone, and screw up this mission, I will kill you," Squall threatened. "I'd hope these things go well, because if I am unpleased with the results, I will track you down. I cannot guarantee success, but I will guarantee I'll live to see tomorrow, and if I'm pissed, you'll be the first one I look for." Irvine gulped, and quickly shut up. "Don't fuck with me."

With that, Squall left a bloody and terrified Irvine on the hill, and made his own way back to the Garden. Sprinting to his room, he picked up the phone, and quickly called up Zell. The phone rang once…twice…three…four…five…no answer. The answering machine picked up.

"Zell if you get this, get out of Timber. Zell get you and your party out of Timber." Squall commanded, before slamming the phone down. Flying out of his dorm, he met Selphie in the hallway.

"We're going to Timber…Now."

(**********)

"Zell if you get this, get out of Timber. Zell get you and your party out of Timber," a machine played.

"Now's the time for the Forrest Spider's to act," a woman commanded. "They're at the bar. Kill them, and prepare for the runts who called."
