A Battle of- WHAT!
 
The Greil Mercenaries sat quietly before their commander. Ike gazed down the table at everyone's faces. “I have assembled you all here today for a reason,” Ike began. “As some of you well know, we need money. Badly.” A few heads nodded and waited for him to continue.
“I have signed us up for a tournament of sorts,” he continued. “All of us most partake in this. Whenever we win a battle, we shall earn money. If we back out of a battle, we have to pay 10,000 gold, which at the moment is not an option.” Everyone began to mutter amongst themselves.
Ike waited a few moments and then motioned for silence. He said, “There is one thing that makes these battles peculiar. At the beginning of a battle, a coin will be tossed. Whichever team wins the coin toss, their commander will make a certain rule that applies to both teams. Such as, no swords or something of that nature.”
Someone asked, “When will our first battle be?”
“Five O' Clock tonight,” Ike replied. “Be prepared.”
 
 
Mist stood next to her horse in the stables along with the other mounted troops. It was time to get going, but she didn't feel like this was right. She knew something was just going to go wrong. She didn't realize just how right she was.
 
 
Ike walked forward towards the other teams commander. He wore a grin upon his face and extended his hand for Ike to shake. A bored referee announced, “The Greil Mercenaries are the newest team here, so they decide which side they shall call.”
“Heads,” Ike said.
The ref flipped the coin into the air. It landed in his palm. He quickly flipped it onto the back of his other hand. “Tails,” he announced. “Blue Boltlings decide on the bonus.”
The commander gave Ike a smirk and said rather smugly, “The extra rule shall be-“
 
 
Yeah, I know. Cliffhanger. But it's going to be fucking worth it.
