The tan hued, shiny marble floor shined proudly in response to the sparkling light that peaked through the thin ruby-like curtains. The ceiling
reached high, making any average house seem small and insignificant. The room stretched long from each angle and two doors lay opposite
to a grand, wide staircase that curved elegantly up until the second floor was visable, which was secured by thick bars that reached to the edges of
that second floor. The room should seem beautiful, it should have given anyone a sense of pride, a reaction of amazement; But in actuality,
the entire building was a prison, a hell. It was owned by a high-class human, a cruel fat blob of a man, that kept many laguz from their
habitats.

As the tall, thin, black- winged laguz approached the decorated entrance to exit, he suddenly turned and looked back toward the room where
he had tricked and abandoned his friend. His friend was the prince of the heron laguz, his name was Reyson; Reyson had always been and
always would be the quiet, stubborn type. But the kid had been his friend for as long as he could remember. So why was he able to leave him
so easily? There was a high sense of guilt in Naesala, but he needed the money. Plus, the noble he had sold him to would not dare hurt Reyson;
Naesala had heard the noble spaz about how beautiful Reyson was, and how he would not let any harm come to him. Though the thought made him
cringe, that noble was pretty creepy. It was a wonder why the man wanted the heron prince; Was it to flaunt a new, rare pet to his noble peers?
Or something else? Either way, Reyson would be safe.
The money he had gained from selling Reyson to the noble would be enough to at least get his people's houses more stable and safe. No matter
how Naesala tricked and decieved to gain money, it was only to better the lives of the many crow laguz in his country. His country was falling apart,
no one cared enough to aid the decieving crows, so Naesala was stuck with the job of retrieving and decieving.

He was their king after all. He would not allow them to live in a slum like they were; Which meant no matter how much trust he lost from his fellow laguz
kings, if he could secure his peoples lives, then he would do it. Momentarily, Naesala's thoughts drifted off to the happy face of a young crow who had
recieved his first real meal in a long time. The poor kid's body was thin and bony, proving his malnutrition. And the boys parents were happy for him,
there was a setting of relief, a setting of love, and a feeling of thankfulness. Knowing that he helped that kid to live longer, knowing that he made people
happy. That's why he did the things he did; He was desperate.

This time was harder though; he'd sold his good friend away, completely losing the kid's trust, it was total betrayal. They had been traveling in the dark,
it was known that herons didn't have good eyes in the dark. He had supposedly been showing Reyson the ruins that the heron's forest had become, and
Reyson's reactions to the ruins were that of disappointment. After flying for a long time, Reyson explained that he should probably tell Tibarn, the hawk
king, where he was; Whom had always acted extremely fatherly of the heron nobles. Especially after the heron nobles' father had disappeared. Reyson
explained too that Tibarn got worried and sent out some of his army to look for him if he was gone for too long. Even with Reyson's naivety at what was
happening, even with the clear trust he was showing to Naesala; Naesala was able to lead the kid into an ' abandoned building', where he trapped him
into a room, and recieved his money. He'd sold him, he'd betrayed him, he lost his friend surely.

" Wow! You came! " A tone of excitement burst from the blond laguz ' lungs, he rushed over to the guest. The young laguz only reached to the guest's
upper hip, whereas the guest was almost twice his size, the size of an adult. The age difference between the two were probably only near six years,
but he had grown much more rapidly than the kid. The kid grinned from ear to ear and hugged the guest, arms barely reaching
all the way around him.

In response the guest too grinned and hugged him back, " I told you I would, " the guest responded and laughed, " Just because I've got more duties
doesn't mean we won't be able to hang out still. Where's Leanne? " Shuffling through his long- black coat pockets, he pulled out two thin boxes and
held them carefully and proudly in his right hand.

" I'll go get her! " The blond responded in joy and glee as he barely ran into the door and rushed downstairs to find his little sister. The guest laughed,
because he could hear the momentary bickering, followed with a shocked surprise, then the shuffling of feet smacking against the wood flooring as
the two younger laguz rushed up the stairs once more. When they returned, he smiled widely, " One for you, princess Leanne, " the guest teased,
pulling a beautiful diamond necklace out of the simple white box and placing it around her neck. Leanne smiled, her ability to speak beorc
language was still horrible back then, but she uttered a sweet thank you in her ancient language.

The guest waited a few moments, observing the girl's happiness at the necklace before he then opened to next box, " And one for you, prince Reyson, "
the crow then pulled out a simple yet purely gold tiara from the box. He knew the boy would react sort of funny about this gift, " Don't worry. Boys can
wear these things too. And someday you'll become a king, and you'll have to wear a jeweled crown, bud. " He grinned and placed the tiara on the blond
herons forehead; Clipping the tiara shut at the back with it's lock.

Naesala then took a step back and observed the gold tiara carefully, then smirked, " Yep, I can see it already. Give you about a couple more years and
you'll make a great king. You'll revive your forest, you'll take care of your people, and you'll make your people proud to be heron."

BAMM!

There was a loud pounding on the middle-door behind the staircase; pounding, followed by kicking, then cursing, " Damn you! Bastard!! Tibarn told me I
shouldn't have trusted you!! " The heron prince cursed, yelled, " You never cared for me, nor Leanne! You only care about yourself!! " The trapped laguz'
voice was drowned in hate, " You're nothing but a decieving crow! " The heron's banging on the door became a rythme that slowly receded from the
crow king's ears and disappeared. The old cry of glee, the new cry of hate; It would never be the same, he wouldn't be able to turn back now.

As the crow king stared back at the door, a grim smile came to his face, " Goddess... If you exist, I pray to you; see to the safety of my friend, Reyson,
prince of the herons."
