Era: Wow I knew I could make a story like this.

Era: Yeah but I love this one the best.

Snowysess: I thought you loved that other story you made.

Era: I do but this I love more. I had to think harder and since I don't know Japanese I had to use their normal names.

Snowysess: Why didn't you ask someone?

Era: I don't like asking someone questions. If they get offended I'm sorry. I'm sorry in advance.

Snowysess: …You really are stupid.

Era: Whatever. We don't have time for this, type.

Snowysess: I will. I love you no matter how stupid you are though.

A Secret Not Told

Chapter 1

Tohru smiled as she looked out the window. She was crying yesterday when she came to the decision. Not only did she have to do it for her work but she had to do it for the Sohmas. She had been living with them for six years now. She just turned twenty-one and Yuki and Kyo would be graduating college next summer. It was hard to believe. They went through some tough stuff but she came through and helped them out with all their problems. She got to talk to Momiji's mother last month and now they are hanging out to get to know each other. Haru has worked out his problems with Rin and calls to check up on her every week. Shigure, Ayame, and Hatori are now married with children. Ayame of course married Mine, Hatori married a nurse from America named Kelly they have a son together, Shigure married a woman from France that is a poet her name is Stephonia. Kyo has asked permission to marry Arisa so when he gets out of college they would marry a month after his graduation. Yuki has a girlfriend but they just started going out. Shigure's editor married Ritsu and they have a daughter together. Tohru sighed she wasn't going to think about all of them. There were too many from the beginning.
Tohru walked to her dresser to get out a white dress with black flowers all around it. She now works at a hair salon and her friend Teri told her to dye her hair black. She did and she liked the outcome of it so now she has black raven strands as her hair color. At first Shigure had a problem with it but he grown accustomed to it after three months. She quickly walked down the wooded hall and went into the bathroom to take a shower.
Once she was dressed she put on her white sandals and went downstairs to make breakfast. She had a long day yesterday and she has decided the Sohmas are old enough to take care of themselves. She lived by herself until holidays came. Yuki and Kyo lived on campus because Akito said it would be better to live by them because he knew that she wasn't going to be there forever.
Tohru made herself breakfast and smiled at herself. She has been lonely these past few days. She may not have told anybody and she may not tell anybody ever. She looked into the quiet house and ate breakfast. She didn't have to go to work today so she promised HIM that she would take him shopping and to the carnival. It was only for today because yesterday Teri realized that she was tired so she gave her a day off and will cover for her today. She only had two people to set up today but Teri insisted that she doesn't show up. Haru also told her during lunch. He's a manager of a restaurant that is a block away from the salon.
She finished her breakfast and washed her hands as well as her one plate and one pot. She then walked towards the back of the house and went out the back door. She was helping Yuki with his secret base. She smiled inwardly and walked quickly through the woods. They were growing strawberries, and Yuki decided something new and started growing plum trees just a few feet from the small garden. She bent down to touch the small sprout and a tear spilled from her eyes. She wouldn't be able to take care of it anymore. She wouldn't be able to hang around the Sohmas anymore period.
She got up and went back into the house to get her small purse and grabbed the house keys. She locked up and walked away from it. She was going to be late if she didn't show up at ten o clock. The sky was bright blue and the spring breeze felt good to her. Not really paying attention she walked onto the city blocks past her old job as a janitor. She remembers those good days when she was in high school. At her graduation she cried horribly because her promise to her mother came true. It was the best feeling ever but when she found out the Sohmas were going to college she almost cried then. She felt small but she got over it when Shigure got married.
She stopped walking when she came upon apartments that she often goes to. She checks on him like everyday and sometimes long hours of the day. Careful not to trip down or up the steps she slowly went upstairs. It felt right having him with her anyway. She pulled out her keys from her purse and opened the door. She looked around to see the almost empty apartment. It was a two bedroom and that's the only one she could afford without going bankrupt. She paid partial of the bills at the Sohma house now. Her grandfather died leaving her ten thousand dollars and she didn't mind paying anything. She set her purse down on the light blue couch and walked in the small room saying, “Haku?”
The small boy turned his head towards her and looked at her with emotionless black eyes. “Yes?”
“Let's go! We have a long day and I'll love to spend as much time at the carnival as I can!” she said with a suddenly cheery smile. You see, she known Haku for two years now. She found him in the woods near the house on the way to work. He was crying balled up in a little ball in front of a tree and crying. He had blood stains all over his shirt and some were dry on his skin. She snuck him in the house and cleaned him up that night. She was asking him question but he never answered them back. When she went to the police station they said that his parents were murdered right in front of his face and the killer just let him there to starve. When they arrived on the scene he was running away towards the outskirts of the city. Tohru promised that she'll take care of him so she adopted him as her son. He only talks a little bit and if he says a sentence it's like a small fragment of it. She never told the Sohmas because she knew they wouldn't allow it so she just bought an apartment not to far from the outskirts of the city. She was still buying furniture though. He had a mattress on the floor and had a small TV. She sometimes would fix food at the Sohma house and bring it over to him but that was when the Sohmas came back from college. They were going to come visit her next week but she wasn't going to be there. She had Haku to take care of. He was seven years old now and when his parents died he was five. It was a tragic sight for him to see. She cried for him and held him close in a tight hug. She never thought a child could go through so much until she met him.
She checks daily on him at school. She asks the teacher does he communicate at all with other students and she said all he does is sit there and stare out the window everyday. His teacher is Ms. Furishuki and she's the nicest person Tohru has ever known.
Haku nods at her and starts to put on his shoes. He wears nothing but black and blue clothes. His hair is black, his eyes are black, and his actions would sadden you. She grabbed his hand on the way to get her purse and walked out the apartment having him closely to her side. He was her biggest secret and she would never tell anyone not even Haru even though they were like best friends now. He tells her everything and she tells him everything but not this. The only person that knows about him is Teri and herself. Teri knows because Tohru accidentally ran into her on the street while Haku was holding onto her hand behind her. She immediately said he was cute and just shy around people. Sometimes she comes over to help Tohru with her. Tohru shook her head from her thoughts today was all about fun and it will be fun.
Haku now walks beside her while she holds his hand. They walked quietly down the streets to Haku's favorite store. It was called Black Spencer. It had kid clothes and adults which kind of scared Tohru. It had black marble floors, rock music, tan walls, and every merchandise was dark purple, blue or black. She went into the store with a sigh. Haku tugged on her dress and pointed at a rack with black shorts. Tohru immediately walked over to it and took shorts in his size. He then pointed to a rack with a dark blue shirt that had a cow saying `mooove out my way' and a black shirt with nothing but spikes on it. He picked out some necklaces that had fake shark teeth and bracelets that were just black including wrist bands. He picked some black pants and said, “I'm done.”
Tohru smiled down at him and said, “Okay, now let's hurry and buy this and get something to eat.” Tohru usually doesn't buy something from soba shops but she wanted to treat out Haku. They went back to the apartment to drop the bags off and went back out. This time she went to this soba stand and ordered two bowls of lobster noodles. They were thick with bits of lobster in it. Haku ate quicker than her so he was done before her. She then paid the man and they walked off towards the park. They weren't going to the carnival until one o' clock. It was around eleven now so she decided to go roller skating in the park and eat ice cream. Haku just shrugged and kept walked with her.
Buying some skates at the sports equipment store she went immediately to the park. She had to teach Haku how to roller skate but he got the hang of it when she had a firm grip on his hand. He fell a couple of times but Tohru made sure to encourage him to keep going. He smiled slightly but not to the point of making her heart soar.
Tohru then took off the skates and they walked to the ice cream stands. She ordered strawberry while he ordered vanilla. He always did and that's what he had in the apartment, two cartons of vanilla ice cream. He seemed to love it and he also loved seafood. He didn't eat other meats or leeks. He kind of reminded her of Kyo. Haku finished his vanilla while Tohru was still licking hers. She then lowered her ice cream and smiled, “Come on! Taste it, it's really delicious!”
Haku looked up at her and then at the ice cream. Then he stuck his tongue out and licked it. He closed his mouth tasting the bitter sweet strawberry taste. He then took three more licks helping Tohru. Tohru smiled affectionately at him and he slightly blushed. “It's good isn't it? Have it!”
He took it hesitantly out of her hand and devoured the ice cream quickly. Tohru then asked, “You ready to go?”
He grabbed her hand in his small one and said, “Yes.”
Tohru hugged him saying, “I love you so much!”
She then grabbed his hand again and she walked quickly towards the street. Tohru looked around before crossing the street and smiled. She ran across the street dragging Haku with her.
When they arrived at the carnival both of their eyes were sparkling at the lights. It was wonderful but before they went onto any rides Tohru wanted their stomachs to rest so she decided to watch a play about a princess trapped in a dungeon and her father coming to save her. It lasted about two hours and when it was over the sky was darkening. Tohru then smiled down at Haku when she came across the tea cups. They got in line and went on the ride within the next five minutes. Haku kind of enjoyed it because he kept slightly smiling at Tohru when the tea cups went the opposite the direction her whole body would jerk and she'll just laugh.
Tohru then went to the battle ship. Haku held onto her tight as they went up high and went back and forth. It was Tohru's turn to smile. They went into the mirror house and it took them ten minutes to get out. Tohru was so confused she started to tear at the eyes and Haku just tugged on her dress to walk her through the maze. A woman was waiting at the exit smiling and handed them lollypops. Haku immediately opened his while Tohru just put hers in her purse. She then walked to one of the game booths. She had to shoot a duck with water as fast as she could to get a prize. She did it but it took her six times to win. Haku picked out a giant white tiger with blue strips. That's when someone called her name.
“Tohru.” Some female voice called out.
Tohru turned around to be greeted by Hana and Megumi. They were both smiling at her. “What are you doing here?” Megumi asked quickly. Then he noticed Haku clinging to her dress like a scared animal.
“Who's that?” Hana asked.
Tohru smiled hesitantly and said, “Haku. He's my son.”
Hana's eyes widened and Megumi just kept looking at him. Haku stared at him with his emotionless eyes and tightened his grip on Tohru's dress.
“Stop Megumi.” Hana said to him. “His waves. It's depressing. What happened to him Tohru? Why is he clinging to you like that?”
Tohru sighed and said, “Let's go somewhere we can sit down. It's a long story. Can we meet somewhere tomorrow?”
“Of course Tohru. We were just going to go on the Ferris wheel and call it a day.” Hana said.
“Oh! Come on Haku!” Tohru picked him up and ran through the crowds towards the Ferris wheel. Haku just snuggled into her embrace. Megumi just looked at the running off Tohru and then at his sister.
“We will find out soon?” he asked.
“Yes.” Hana said walking slowly towards the ride with Megumi at her side. They scared off some people on the way.
Tohru was already on the Ferris wheel by the time they got there though. Haku was fidgeting in his seat and the ride was just starting. Tohru put him onto her lap and held him close. “Don't worry I won't let anything happen to you. It's just a ride and after this we go home. Remember if you pass that test that is coming up I'll take you to live with me. The house I bought is done. We'll be moving there in three days.”
Haku relaxed and looked out the window. The lights sparkled in his dark eyes. “I…love you too…and like…view.” He said pointing out the window. Tohru smiled as the Ferris wheel went back down to the ground but only to go back up a second time. She saw Hana and Megumi in the line before leaving the carnival. She put Haku on her back and he fell asleep on the walk back to the apartment. When she got into the apartment she set him down in his room on his bed. She changed his clothes careful not to wake him up. When he was in pajamas she put his covers over him and kissed him on the forehead. He was her burden, her problem and no one will harm him again. She will have to watch over him until the rest of his life. She turned off all the lights and walked home to the Sohma house.

Snowysess: Nice.

Era: You think people would like it?

Snowysess: Only one way to find out.

Era: Okay ya review if you like.

Snowysess: I still don't know why you have Tohru acting like you though.

Era: Shut up. It's nothing to do with you if I love myself.

Snowysess: Don't listen to her folks. I saw her with a knife last week trying to cut herself. I'm a good friend so I stopped her and held onto her like a baby.

Era: A bunch of lies. At least I don't get kicked out of the house every month.

Snowysess: Don't let me get started on that time in the park.

Era: ……Whatever. Please people review me because I want to update all my chapters.

Snowysess: Do it so she can be saved.

Era: Shut up.
