Chapter IV: Two Loves, One Choice

 

Katrina woke up the next morning confused. Who did she like? Which one did she love? As she walked down to breakfast she saw everyone was dressed in their school Uniforms. “Oh, no! I forgot schools today! Yikes I have to get ready!!!!!!”

 

Yuki and Kyo looked up and smiled. “You shouldn't go to school. Your not fully healed yet,” Yuki said.

 

“I'm fine. Plus I shouldn't miss anymore school.” She ran back up stairs so she didn't get any more objections.

 

Just as she reached the top of the stairs he heard: “Kyo why are you smiling?”

 

Katrina wondered if Yuki knew she liked Kyo too. She couldn't choose between them. But she knew she probably will have too. Because they were the cat and the rat. Always enemies. Never friends.

Kyo Sohma walked down the road that lead the way to the new school he would now be attending. It would be his first day and he was nervous. He thought about all the girls who would be walking around. He shivered, he was scared he would transform.

 

Why did that damn rat want to go to a school like that? He looked ahead of him. Walking with the damn rat, was the girl he loved. Yes, before he had loved Tohru. (Majorly loved Tohru. -.- thanks Shigure but will you stop interrupting the story? Humph! Fine. Thank you!)

 

But Katrina was different. He didn't know what it was but, she seemed more like him. But then there was that damn rat boy that got in his way. Kyo knew Yuki liked her too. But Kyo also knew that Katrina liked them both. But like hell he was going to let the rat boy have her. Soon he was going to be confined. Unless he could beat the rat. He thought of back at the Sohma house, when Akito had made a bet with him.

 

(Flash Back)

“Kyo no one wants you. No one cares about you. You're the cat. You're a monster. But how about we make a deal?” (A/N: ok I only read this part once and I don't know it by heart or anything so yeah I'm going to get as close as I can.)

 

Kyo had just stood there. Breathing hard from his anger. Restraining himself from punching 'god'. “How about this my little monster, If you can beat the rat in combat by the end of high school, then I'll stop calling you a monster. And I'll let you join the zodiac. If not you will be confined for the rest of your life. But we both know you won't ever beat the rat. But I'm willing you give you a chance. Normal people will never accept you, my little monster. You'll always be alone, because you are the cat and the cat is hated by everyone.”

(End of flashback)

 

But Akito was wrong. Katrina accepted him, and so did Tohru. They accepted him. They saw through the curse. “Kyo are you ok?” A voice said beside him, bringing him out of his past.

 

He looked up and Katrina smiled at him. “Yeah, I'm fine. But about last night….. Do you……..Feel the same way?” He said haltingly. Katrina blushed, then looked around. She stood on her tip-toes and kissed Kyo. Kyo was surprised, but got over it quickly. When she broke away from him, he pulled her closer and kissed her back.

“Yuki I'm going to go check on Kyo.” Katrina said to him.

 

“Ok, Katrina.” Yuki kept walking, deep in his thoughts. Katrina obviously liked Kyo. But how did she feel about him? What was that kiss the other day? Was it just a friendly kiss? Is that what she thought he meant? Maybe he should tell her. Beat that stupid cat to it. He finally came to the conclusion that he would tell her at school. When they were alone. He listened around him. Then he heard Kyo say,

 

“But about last night….. Do you……..Feel the same way?” What happened last night that he missed? Then he realized Kyo and Katrina had both disappeared, shortly after Nii-san had arrived. He whipped around to see Katrina kissing Kyo, and him kissing her back. It was to late. The stupid cat had beat him to it. The cat had finally defeated him. By the way of the heart.

Katrina walked into the school and was easily surrounded by friends. “where have you been?” “Are you ok?” “I heard about the crash, I'm sorry.” As everyone surrounded Katrina, Kyo, Yuki and Tohru were being pushed away from her.

 

“Guys thanks for all your concern, but I'm fine and I don't really want to talk about it. I'll see you guys later.” She walked away from them and toward Yuki, Kyo, And Tohru.

 

“Sorry guys.” She said. Katrina was very popular. Almost as popular as Yuki. Except she didn't have a fan club. (“No she doesn't have a fan club, but she has a Haters club. I don't think the Yuki fan club is that happy that Katrina was hanging out with Yuki so much.” I think your right Shigure. God I hate the Yuki fan club. Their so annoying. But anyway…)

 

“well Miss Katrina, Why are you always hanging around with Yuki? You know he's our man!”

 

Katrina scowled at them. “Yuki isn't you man. Plus he can decide for himself who he wants to be with and he obviously doesn't choose you. So leave him alone!.”

 

The fan club looked surprised at Katrina's sudden outburst. “You have no right to dis me or any of the other girls, just because we hang or talk to Yuki because you can't get the guy want. There are some selfish people in this school, but I think you guys are the worst! Have you ever thought how Yuki feels about this? Have you ever thought that he doesn't want you warding off people who talk to him? You guys don't even know anything about him besides his looks. You judge people in stupid ways! And that is why I despise you people.”

 

(Yes! Go Katrina! *Jumping up and down chanting “Katrina! Katrina!*) And with that she walked away. Everyone was silent. Katrina was upset and had changed. But weather it was for the good or bad no one knew.

Akito stood in the corner of the room. Waiting for Hatori to come. He knew time was getting desperate. That Honda girl was getting close to breaking the curse. He had to get rid of her. He knew that Yuki and Kyo would hate him for the rest of his life. But he would take that chance. He would not have the Juunishi taken away from him.

 

The door opened slowly. “You called for me Akito?” Hatori's voice said, with a tiny shiver in it.

 

“Yes my dear Hatori. I have something for you to do. Involving Tohru Honda…..”
