Beware! Dog

The characters that you probably won't recognize will be minor characters, and most likely won't show up in more than at least one chapter. They will be of my creation, and, unless I say otherwise, will be free for anyone's use.

Writer's Corner: So…I'm back…and I can't believe how much of a loser I was…wow! -slaps self for thinking so poorly of Tohru- Hm…I had all of this chapter written down somewhere, but I think I threw it away or something. I don't know if it's good that I start this story up again...considering that it took me a few days to remember what was wrong with Gure. Well...I got it now, so…no worries! This is a somewhat short chapter, me having to get back into the feel of writing the fic…wow, it's been so long since I last wrote a fic.

She sat a ways down the hall, staring intently at him, her knees up to her chest, her arms wrapped tightly around her knees. She couldn't stop shaking. The blood of Shigure's sin still on the floor of his bedroom, and still on the insides of her legs, she could feel it. It had been at least thirty minutes since it happened…

 

She choked back a sob, but it came back at full force, and she allowed it to overtake her. She hadn't cried this loud in a long time, and she hated it, but she let it continue. It continued again for another ten minutes, as loud as ever, and she didn't even hear a car pull up, the front door open, and the footsteps, which indicated the arrival of Hatori.

 

The doctor stood at the stairway, staring at the two (Tohru in a ball, crying her eyes out, and Shigure passed out on the floor), in shock of what might have happened. He immediately kneeled next to Shigure, and turned him over so he lay on his back. The dragon reached for his bag, and caught a peek of inside Shigure's room. Clothes, torn, were scattered, and there was a faint red blotch on the floor a few feet from the unconscious dog. Hatori looked at Tohru, who still didn't seem to notice he was there, and something hit his stomach…

 

He immediately stood up and ran for the girl, kneeling beside her.

 

“Tohru-chan, what's wrong?” he asked hurriedly. “What the hell happened?!”

 

Tohru jumped and stared at Hatori. Her first reaction was to jump on him and hug him tightly, needing to feel safe in Hatori's arms, knowing that he wouldn't harm her in any way. But the knowledge that he would quickly change into a seahorse pulled at her mind, and she resisted. Besides, Shigure was just as harmless and safe as Hatori was, but now she knew that a man could change…She kept to herself and continued to hug her knees close.

 

“He…he fell…” Tohru answered Hatori. She didn't dare look at either men. “I got scared and didn't know what to do so I called you.”

 

Hatori gave her a skeptical look, but nodded nonetheless, wondering if it was the truth, and knowing that it wasn't the whole truth. He went back to Shigure and opened one of the dog's eyes. He was definitely unconscious, and Hatori wanted to know why.

 

“Tohru, I can't help him if I don't know what happened.”

 

“That's all I know!” she shouted at him.

 

Tohru wasn't the best of liars, and Hatori knew this by the sound of the way she yelled at him. “Fine…Tell me about tonight…What happened tonight?” he asked her calmly.

 

“He was working in his study,” Tohru began, shivering again. “He called me in and gave me the finished part of his story. I took it to the kitchen, and started dinner. He came up here and passed out…That's all I know…” She closed her eyes as a new wave of tears threatened her. She didn't dare tell Hatori what happened between Shigure going upstairs and his fainting.

 

But Hatori wouldn't be swayed. He went to her again and grabbed her shoulders, not surprised when she jumped and shrieked. Somewhere in his mind, he knew what happened…

End note: OMG I'm so rusty! x_x Despite what you all may think…this is a hard story to write >< Hmm…I left it there because I'm tired and I want to go to bed…but I'll have the next chapter up soon. I promised my brother the computer all week next week for his Inuyasha DVDs, so I don't know when I'll get the next chapter up. Hm…I like the arrangement though…3 DVDs for 5 days? Sounds great to me! Ah…Review please?!
