Fruits Basket Fan Fiction ❯ East Side, West Side ❯ Calm Before the Storm ( Chapter 7 )
[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]
Ooh, this is gonna probably be my hardest chapter to write. Gr. Oh well. I’ll try it and see how it goes. Don’t own Fruits Basket! Wish I did, but then it’d probably be all crapitated.
------
“Are they coming or not?” Kyou growled as he sat in the park. Most of the Sohmas were there as well, except for a few that were either late or weren’t going to show up at all.
“Come on, Kitty kitty! Come run around with me!” Kasumi tugged playfully at Kyou’s arm.
“No.” Kyou simply replied.
“Hey, just be glad Kagura hasn’t arrived yet.” Kasumi giggled. She had finally met Kagura (she couldn’t remember whether or not she had met her before) a few days before when Kagura decided to drop by Shigure’s house.
“Kyoooooooou!” Kagura called out as she ran over.
“Oh look.” Kasumi smiled.
“Oh crap.” Kyou gulped, starting to get up.
“Ah ah ah.” Kasumi smirked, grabbing his arm.
“Kyou, my love!” Kagura cried out, almost tackling Kyou out of Kasumi’s grasp.
“Kasumi...” Kyou growled.
“I had nothing to do with nothing.” Kasumi smiled sweetly as she quickly walked away. “I’ll leave you two lovebirds alone.” She made her way over to Yuki and Tohru. “Hey Yuki. Hey Tohru.”
“Well hi there, Kasumi.” Tohru greeted with a smile.
“Kagura just arrived, if you haven’t noticed.” Kasumi informed.
“I think everyone noticed.” Yuki said, a small smile forming.
“Yeah, I was about to say ‘who couldn’t have noticed?’” Kasumi smiled.
“The Okurimonos still haven’t arrived yet?” Tohru asked.
“No, not yet.” Kasumi sighed. “Ariel’s probably throwing a fit because she doesn’t like going anywhere except for places where she’s well-known and well-liked. I’ll be right back.”
“Okay.” Tohru nodded.
Kasumi walked over to Shigure, whom was now accompanied by the other two members of the Mabudachi Trio. “Hey Shigure.” Kasumi smiled. “Hi Hatori. Hi Ayame.”
“Hello Kasumi. How have you been?” Hatori asked.
“Fine, thank you. Yourself?” Kasumi asked.
“Just fine.” Hatori nodded.
“That’s great to hear.” Kasumi smiled. She turned to Shigure. “Sachiko and the others still haven’t come yet. Do you think something happened? I mean, I’m hoping it’s just because Ariel’s being a stick in the mud as usual but...”
“I’m sure they’re fine, Kasumi. Don’t worry so much.” Shigure smiled.
“Okay.” Kasumi sighed.
“Is that them over there?” Ayame asked, nodding past Kasumi.
Kasumi looked over her shoulder. Sure enough, Sachiko was headed that way with the rest of the Okurimonos behind her.
“Sorry we’re late.” Sachiko apologized as she walked over.
“Kokoro took forever brushing her hair.” Kippei grumbled.
“I’ve warned you so many times before. Never tell me to hurry up. I just go slower.” Kokoro sneered.
Sachiko sighed and shook her head. She looked to Shigure and smiled. “Nice to see you again, Shigure.”
“Same to you, Sachiko.” Shigure smiled back.
“And this crazy bunch behind me is my family.” Sachiko pointed to the group behind her.
“It’s only crazy because you’re apart of it.” Mizuko remarked.
“Which makes it fun.” Sachiko smiled.
“These are my two friends, Hatori and Ayame.” Shigure introduced his two best friends.
“Nice to meet you.” Sachiko smiled to both of them.
“Well, I think every Sohma that’s gonna show up is here.” Kasumi looked around.
“Well let’s get this party started then!” Kokoro shouted out.
“What party?” Ariel angrily mumbled, walking past her cousin.
“Stick in the mud.” Torrence said in a sing-song tune as Ariel walked away.
“So what now, Kassie?” Kokoro smiled, looking to Kasumi.
“Um...want me to introduce you to some of the family?” Kasumi offered.
“Sure.” Kokoro nodded. “Kippei, you coming?”
“Yeah.” Kippei shrugged. He followed Kasumi and Kokoro as Kasumi lead them over to Kyou and Kagura.
“Hey Kagura.” Kasumi smiled and waved. “Sorry I didn’t greet you properly. You just seemed a little busy with Kyou.”
“It’s okay.” Kagura smiled back. “How have you been, Kasumi?”
“Great.” Kasumi nodded. “This is Kokoro and Kippei Okurimono.” She introduced.
“Hi, nice to meet you.” Kokoro smiled.
“Nice to meet you too. I’m Kagura Sohma.” Kagura introduced herself.
“And of course you two have already met Kyou.” Kasumi looked to Kokoro. “Him and Kagura are engaged.” She smirked looking to Kyou.
“Really?” Kokoro asked. “Wow. Since when?”
“Since they were little kids.” Kasumi smiled. “Right, Kagura?”
“Yup.” Kagura smiled and nodded. “How do you know Kyou?”
“Well I just met him when I went over to Shigure’s house to see Kasumi.” Kokoro explained. “Don’t worry, I wouldn’t dream of stealing your fiancé from you.” She smiled, looking to Kyou.
Kyou growled as he gave Kokoro a slight glare.
“Aw, what’s wrong, Kitty Cat?” Kokoro patted Kyou’s head. “You’re not my type anyway.”
“Shut up!” Kyou yelled.
“Shut don’t go up, Kitty Cat.” Kokoro smiled innocently.
“So Kyou has Kasumi calling him Kitty Kitty and you calling him Kitty Cat?” Hatsuharu walked over. “Geeze, Kyou, what’d you do to them?”
“Hi Haru!” Kasumi smiled.
“Hey there, Kasumi.” Haru greeted.
“Where’s Kisa?” Kasumi blinked.
“She decided to go play with her new little friend.” Haru looked back over his shoulder.
Kasumi looked as well, seeing Kisa run around with Hinako. “Aw, how sweet.”
“Looks like Hinako did find someone to play with.” Kokoro smiled.
Kippei looked up as he heard Sachiko’s whistle. It was the whistle she always did to call everyone’s attention. “Kokoro.” He lightly hit his sister’s arm.
“Hey!” Kokoro drew her arm back to hit him back.
“Sachiko’s calling us, stupid. I didn’t even hit you that hard.” Kippei walked off.
“Stupid bratty little brother.” Kokoro mumbled as she followed him.
“Guess it’s time to introduce all of us to all of them.” Kasumi said.
“Let’s go then.” Haru said.
“Alright, come on.” Kasumi followed after the Okurimono siblings.
“Come on, Kyou!” Kagura dragged Kyou after her as she followed Kasumi.
-----
“So why are we all here again?” Ariel asked as she joined the rest of her family.
“Because you don’t want you and we’re just all looking out to do anything that will annoy you and be against your will.” Kokoro said sarcastically.
“I bet you are.” Ariel glared.
“Oh yes, Aries, we are.” Kokoro glared back.
“Ariel not Aries.” Ariel corrected.
“You’re named Ariel for the sole reason that you are the Aries.” Kokoro reminded.
“Then why didn’t your parents name you Crab or something that has to do with Cancer?” Ariel asked.
“Because if I had been a boy, they would’ve named me Sebastian. You know, like ‘The Little Mermaid’?” Kokoro smiled innocently.
“Ariel! Kokoro!” Mizuko called.
“She started it.” Ariel mumbled.
“Oh yes, Ariel. I started it. Anyone but you starts everything.” Kokoro rolled her eyes.
“Shut up!” Ariel screamed.
“Shut don’t–“ Kokoro started.
“Kokoro Okurimono!” Mizuko barked.
Kokoro drew back. “Okay, okay, I’ll stop.” She sighed and sat down in the grass. “So what? Are we all gonna sit down in a circle and say why we’re here or something like that?”
“Kokoro get up.” Mizuko said.
“Come on, Aunt Mizuko. The grass is nice and cool. Kick off your shoes, take a breather, feel the blades of grass beneath your feet. It feels good.” Kokoro smiled.
“One...” Mizuko started counting.
“Aw, Aunt Mizuko...” Kokoro pouted.
“Two...” Mizuko crossed her arms.
“Three.” Kokoro stood up. “Aunt Sachiko’s right, you shouldn’t have became a lawyer. Took all the fun out of you.”
“Oh yeah, Mizuko used to be a real wild child back in the day.” Sachiko walked over. “Come on, we’re gonna meet the rest of the Sohmas. You can lay in the grass if you want to, but I don’t feel like getting grass stains out of that white shirt of yours, Kokoro.”
“Ah yes, Aunt Sachiko. You’d make a great mo–...” Kokoro started, only to have her mouth covered by Jon.
“She means a great model, as in role model.” Jon said. He looked at Kokoro. “Isn’t that right, Kokoro?”
Kokoro looked up at him and nodded.
“Oh...” Sachiko blinked, turning around.
“Wow! You spoked!” Kokoro looked at Jon. “You never spoked.”
“Spoke, speak, learn how to put correct words into sentences.” Jon lightly tapped her head. “And how many times do we have to warn you about the Sachiko being a mother thing?”
“A billion gazillion times.” Kokoro said innocently.
“You’re not Hinako. The cute act doesn’t work anymore. Watch your tongue.” Jon warned, following Sachiko.
Kokoro blinked. She stuck her tongue out and tried to look at it, her eyes going cross-eyed.
“Kokoro!” Jon called.
“Coming dearest third cousin!” Kokoro followed quickly.

And there’s the seventh chapter. The next one is when they all, you know, get to know each other a little more. This is just what happens before. Yeah, anyway. Stay tuned! =D
