Fruits Basket Fan Fiction ❯ Fruits BasKet ❯ Searching for the Truth ( Prologue )
[ P - Pre-Teen ]
Tohru walked to the Sohma house. It had been a few years since her mother's death and she had finally found out whom the sohma's were, but she wasn't sure if she could keep living her life here. Tohru came in quite as possible and sat dinner down and began cooking. Yuki walked in and smiled at Tohru.
“Hello, Tohru how are you this evening?” he said calmly as usually. His voice startled her at first but realized it was only him.
“Oh, good. And you?” she said.
“Just fine,” he went over to the counter and took some Soy milk from the fridge and then began drinking. She was cutting up all the carrots and putting them in the soup considerably quickly until…….. “Oh…,” The cut hurt very badly but Tohru wasn't crying because it hurt ,but because she was so afraid perhaps when she saw Akito and Yuki and how scared he was, maybe she thought that's how she would feel tomorrow. She got up and turned to find Yuki frightened and quickly pick up some of the paper towels and wrapped it around her hand. Couldn't Yuki see that she was scared and that she didn't want to go to the main house? Or did he think if he completely avoided the subject it would disappear into thin air? She went back to cooking. As soon as dinner was done she put it on the table and went to bed.
A few hours later she heard noise on the roof. It must be Kyo again. She got up and climbed up. She saw that he was just sitting there with his head sitting on his knees looking at her. She was thinking of turning around, but he went over to her and pulled her arms up and waited for her to finish climbing up. He sat down and kept his head on his knees again and then finally after moments began speaking. “It's okay, you can be scared, I would too if I were you and Yuki's just ignoring you because he can't deal with these things. So just don't get mad at him.”
Kyo looked toward the moon and closed his eyes. “But what. If... I don't go…I don't stay here if seeing Akito is what it costs…” Tohru whispered to herself. “Then you'll get your memories erased and we won't be able to talk to you and you'll act like you never met us. Do you want that?” Tohru looked up and realized it wasn't Kyo talking at all, but it was Yuki. Kyo smiled at Tohru and whispered good-night and got up and left. Yuki came up and sat by Tohru. He looked at her kind of cold for her think that she needed to leave, that she wanted to leave.
“I don't want to go,” Tohru picked up her arms and hugged Yuki as she cried. He realized she hadn't meant she wanted to leave them, but she didn't want to go to see Akito. He transformed. She seemed that he would yell at her and Hatori had been hinting about keeping memories close, but she didn't want to tell him that. She looked at the little rat that sat at her feet.
“I promise I'll be there,” Yuki smiled and she hugged the little gray rat. She felt better, but still wasn't sure about seeing Akito tomorrow.
