"Are you happy?"
"Oh, yes. I'm so happy that I can't stop crying. I'm laughing through my tears, you see."
"I'm sorry."
"Right..."
A rather common conversation between one Ayame Sohma and another Hatori Sohma. After that Ayame would pick up some rather loose and asinine thread as he went about making tea. It was to a point, where Hatori mentally counted down 'one-two-three-four...' because it went the exact same way every single time.
This conversation was not very common between Hatori and Shigure Sohma. Shigure saw no need to ask, because he knew exactly how Hatori was. He also knew that Ayame knew exactly how Hatori was, Ayame just chose to ask, regardless of that.
The only time Shigure and Hatori ever had a conversation even remotely linked to the conversation Hatori had with Ayame, was when Shigure saw Hatori at one point and blinked at him.
"You look different somehow."
"Everybody's got to leave the darkness sometime."
