Once he had called everyone, Koutsu stood up, leaving the book where it was, hoping Tohru would assume she'd left it there. He had to stand for a few moments, getting used to the height.

“Koutsu-san?” Koutsu got a shock from the voice by his side and tripped forward. He heard giggling and looked up to find Tohru smiling at him.

“What's wrong Koutsu-san?”

“Nothing….don't sneak up on people like that! It's dangerous!” he shouted, pulling himself to his knees, and then to his feet. He staggered a bit and then walked into the house, a fit of laughter coming from behind halted him though.

“What?!” he snarled, glaring at her.

“Koutsu-san! You're walking like a penguin!” she yelled between the giggles. Koutsu's face twisted into a smile and he turned away from her.

“Maybe I `wanna' walk like a penguin.” He said softly, walking away. Tohru giggled again and shook her head, looking to where Koutsu had been standing. She was shocked to see her little pink phonebook sitting next to the phone, looking into the house, she stared for a moment. Was…Koutsu calling someone? She thought, picking up the book and walking back into the house.

“Ah…Tohru-chan?” asked Koutsu sheepishly, opening the door to her room. Tohru looked up from her sewing machine and smiled.

“Hai Koutsu-san?”

“Are you busy? I…want to take you somewhere.” Tohru was confused by the warm, cheeky smile on his face. She nodded and walked over to him, giving him a smile as he let her pass. She was shocked when she felt his chest on her back, his face close to hers. His arms hung loosely over her shoulders, then closing gently around them. He was so much taller than her, she felt tiny in comparison. Koutsu's arms hugged her shoulders tightly and he rubbed his cheeks against her head.

“Tohru-chan…I'm sorry if I was ever….if I…ever did anything to hurt you, or make you worry.” He said softly, almost whispering. Tohru felt tears spring to her eyes, she shook her head and turned it too look into Koutsu's face; he looked so innocent, so loving. With a smile, she said,

“I'm glad that I can worry about Koutsu-san, you never hurt me. I'm glad I met you, and have known you.” Koutsu lost his breath, his heart skipped a beat. He couldn't get his mind around the fact that someone `liked' him, they were `glad' that he was with them. Thin tears streamed down his utterly shocked face, and he fell forward, hugging Tohru will all the energy he could muster. Tohru staggered back a little at the pressure, but wrapped her arms around him when she was steady enough.

“Koutsu-san…are you alright?” she asked, hearing the choking cries against her shoulder, feeling his body tremble against hers. He didn't reply, only nodded his head feverishly, before finally calming down. Tohru placed her hand on the back of Koutsu's head, stroking it gently. He was surprised at how soft and feathery his hair was, despite its shaggy/messy look. It felt like the tuft of feathery scales he had on his chest when he was a dragon. She smiled, leaning her head to the side so that her cheek was also resting on his head. They stood for what seemed like hours, supporting each other.

“Uh…Koutsu-san? Tohru-san?” Realisation hit them like a brick. Koutsu released Tohru, turning away from both their gazes to wipe his face. Tohru smiled sympathetically at him, while Mikaku suddenly realised he'd disturbed something intimate.

“Ah…sorry about that you two. Koutsu-san, I thought you were taking Tohru-san somewhere?” he said loudly, Koutsu looked at him, his eyes still a little red.

“H-Hai, that's right. Come on Tohru-chan, we'd better go.” He said, hiding his face from her. Tohru walked on ahead out of the gate and waited there. Mikaku put his hand on Koutsu's shoulder as he past him, giving it a pat and letting him go. Koutsu nodded and wiped his face again, ready to escort Tohru to the park.

“Koutsu-san, it was nice of you to bring me to the park!” exclaimed Tohru, walking by his side. He nodded and smiled, looked around himself for any sign of a large group of people. Then he saw Kyo walking into a small forest of Cherry blossoms with a woman.

“Tohru, let's go this way.” He said, giving her a gentle tug on the arm. Tohru looked to where they were going and looked up and him questioningly.

“Koutsu-san? Why are you taking us here, it's not very sunny here.”

“I know, but it's special. You'll see.” He said smiling. Tohru smiled back and thought about the phonebook. Who has he called here? She thought as he held back a branch in their way, so they could pass. Tohru looked down into the clearing from the small hill and gasped, holding her face as she stared at her family, the Sohma's. Karin was the first to see her and shouted out, running towards her with Kyo trailing not far behind her. Tohru laughed and ran down to meet them halfway, giving Karin a hug and receiving a pat on the head from Kyo. They walked together into the cluster of people; she could see that almost everyone was there. Haru, Rin, Hiro and Ayame weren't there, but she was happy to see some faces she hadn't seen in a long time. Momiji greeted her happily, Kisa close by him. They've grown so much! She thought as she looked `up' at Momiji, and was eye level with Kisa, she was overwhelmed and started to tear up, hugging them both tightly. She had forgotten about Momiji, but he didn't transform anyway, a lot of the Sohma's were free from the curse now. Koutsu, meanwhile, sat on the hill, his legs tight into his chest and his arms hanging loosely, crossed over them. He closed his eyes and smiled, happy.

If Koutsu-chan is not home, then I just leave. Thought Uwaro as he approached the entrance to the house, he was about to ring the doorbell when he saw something out of the corner of his eye.

“He's not home Uwaro-kun.” Said Mikaku icily. He glared at him, staring at the small package he was holding.

“Is that for Koutsu-san?”

“Hai, but I'll only give it to him. Seeing as he's not in, he'll have to do without.” He said, turning away from the door. Mikaku jolted forward and grabbed his arm tightly, so that he couldn't get away.

“He'll be home in an hour or two, you can wait.” Uwaro gulped and gritted his teeth.

“…fine.”

Tohru couldn't help but notice Koutsu's lonely form sitting on the hill, even though she was having fun, she felt guilty at leaving him. After a little while longer, she managed to break away and walk to Koutsu. She bent down to see his face, his eyes were closed.

“Koutsu-san?” she whispered. He looked up at her dreamily for a moment and then sat up.

“Tohru-chan….why aren't you with the Sohma's?” Tohru sat down beside him and stared into the distance.

“I'm happy that you did this for me Koutsu-san, really. It's just…you look so lonely up here, all by yourself.”

“Uwaa, that's not a problem you need to concern yourself with. I'm always alone, I'm fine with it.” He said, giving her a gentle nudge. Tohru smiled and shook her head.

“No really, I'm fine. I'm…well…” she stopped, bowing her head. “It's making me feel sort of…lonely. You know, seeing them all together…it's…something I'm not apart of anymore.” Her clasped hands became tight, even though she was smiling.

“Kyo, he has his wife Karin. Yuki is going to be wed soon too. Momiji has a girl friend he tells me, and Kisa has her boyfriend too. It seems….it seems like everyone has a someone…but me.” She said, clasping her hands even harder so that the knuckles turned white.

“Tohru-chan…” he uttered, before wrapping his arm around her, bringing her close to him. The lean was just right, so that her head rested on his chest. He stroked her cheek and whispered to her, trying to make her feel better.

“Tohru-chan…you are a very cute girl. You've…made my life just a little less painful. Nowadays, I can wake up in the morning, and not feel guilty for doing so. You make my day just a little brighter. If you feel that you don't have a someone, that you're lonely…I'm here for you.” Tohru smiled at his words, each one making her feel better. She looked up at him and then snuggled into him. Koutsu had noticed that the Sohma's were watching, that they smiled, happy that they're little Tohru was happy. If she knew, that they were looking; she would want to let go. Without warning, Koutsu pulled Tohru so that she was flat against his chest, and then threw himself side-wards. He held her close to him, so that she wouldn't see them looking, so he could have her just a little longer.

“They get on well don't they?” remarked Shigure, gazing at them over a glass. Hatori nodded and looked with him.

“He wants to be with her, I think she wants to be with him too.”

“Ha-san! You're actually taking an interest?!”

“Shigure, don't forget what she did for this family. She deserves to be happy.”

“Yeah but…Ha-san, you can't see very well from here, he could be molesting her for all we know!” said Shigure highly.

“No….Shigure-san…just….no.”

Koutsu was unhappy when Karin came, calling Tohru's name. Tohru had almost drifted off and looked at her dreamily before smiling.

“Tohru-chan! Come here, me and Kyo want to tell you something!” She shouted happily. Tohru looked to Koutsu for permission, he sighed and nodded, flopping to the floor. Tohru giggled and followed Karin.

“Tohru-chan! Since you gave us the idea, we thought you should be the first to know about this!” Tohru smiled at them in an unquestioning manner.

“Tohru-chan…we're pregnant!” Kyo sagged slightly.

“Pre…pregnant?!”

-Did you HAVE to say `we'?!

-well `we' are!

-no, `you' are! I'm not!

-I think she gets it Kyo-kun

-Hai, but not that, it just sounds laaaame!

Karin-chan…is…pregnant? Kyo-kun and Karin-chan are going to…have a child.
