Let the Rain Fall

Tohru jolted up, gasping for breath as a cold bead of sweat dripped down her forehead. She closed her eyes, the dream still flashing through her mind and took several deep breaths; trying to calm her sparked fear. She opened her eyes again just in time to see a brilliant flash illuminate the sky, followed by a deep roar and the hiss of the rain as it fell towards the earth.
She jumped again, hearing her heart beat in her ears as it practically pounded its way out of her chest. She grabbed her blankets and pulled them to her chin, and laid back down, shutting her eyes tightly. `It was just a silly dream,' she thought to herself. `Nothing more,' but still her restless mind wandered through the pages of her subconscious recalling the frightening details.
There was Akito, standing over her with a knife. She screamed and tried to run but a strong pair of hands held her back. She looked up into the face of her captor and gasped. It was Kyo. She screamed still and tried her fight him off but to no avail.
Finally she stopped struggling and lay loose in his arms sobbing. She looked to him again and stared into his eyes…those were not Kyo's eyes, but the eyes of a stranger. They had lost all their depth, hope, passion…and love. They were cold and lifeless as one raised from the dead. She dared to look back to Akito; it was too late, for he already had the knife above his head and was about to plunge it deep into her heart. That was the moment Tohru awoke.
As the scene replayed for the umpteenth time in her head Tohru decided that she was afraid. She opened her eyes again and realized that she could not stay in her room tonight but, there was no where else to sleep, maybe. She took her blanket and rolled off her bed as the lightening crashed again, she jumped as the light brightened her room for a split second. She slowly creaked open her bedroom door and tiptoed down the hall to the couch.
This was as close as she was going to get to the boys and at least she was away from the window in her room, where the storm was raging on and on. She covered up tight in her blanket and listened to the sounds of the quiet house. She was surprised that Shigure wasn't up working on his novel; he was probably out with Ayame somewhere. She shuddered at the thought and went back to listening to the quiet.
Quiet in this house was rare to her; usually there was so much to do and so much going on. She was usually busy with house chores or homework, and when she finally got to sit she was talking with someone. The only time she thought she ever felt the house this quiet was when Yuki, Kyo and Shigure all went out to the New Year celebration. As her thoughts wandered her mind slowly began to slip into unconsciousness.

The thunder boomed, jarring Kyo awake and sending him flying from his bed with a heavy `oomph' when he hit the ground. He was about to cry out when he realized that it was night and Shigure would make him sleep on the roof for a month if he woke everyone up. He grumbled and rubbed his bruising backside, deciding to go downstairs to get a glass of milk to help him fall asleep again.
He opened his door and stepped lazily from his room, yawning and itching the back of his head. The floor creaked quietly as he walked and the carpet squished underneath his toes. When he reached the door passing the living room he thought he saw something amiss.
He backtracked to the entryway and looked. There on the couch, curled up in a little ball was Tohru, sleeping soundly. Kyo shook his head slightly and smiled to himself. He couldn't wait to hear the explication of this one. Maybe the couch was lonely, but as he continued to stare, he knew something was probably wrong for her to leave that big bed Shigure had bought for her. Come to think of it, she didn't look too comfortable either. He sighed at how soft he had become how soft she had made him, but when he thought about it that way, maybe it was o.k.

The sun softly fell though the windows, and landed in patches on Tohru's face. She slowly started to stir as a fresh smell filled her senses…the clean smell after the rain. She yawned and sat up as she stretched her arms high above her head, sending a greeting to the new day. She batted open her eyes and gasped as she remembered she had fallen asleep on the couch the pervious night. This was sure not the couch. She was on a simple bed in a cluttered room, with clothes, various books, and unrecognizable items littered about the floor.
She thought she knew…but she didn't think it reasonable…she carefully got up and jumped across the room, trying not to disturb anything from its place. When she reached the door and opened it she was sure where she was… she was in Kyo's room, but how she got there was still a mystery. Still in a little bit of shock she walked slowly down the hall, apparently no one else was awake yet. She tip-toed her way down the hall but stopped as she reached the living room. She smiled and a small tear came to her eye, because sleeping on the couch was Kyo.
